Betty Irene Eaton
LEWISBURG - Betty Irene Eaton, 81, of 1 River Road, formerly of New Berlin, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, in The Riverwoods. She and her husband, John Franklin Eaton, would have observed their 64th wedding anniversary Dec. 4. She graduated from the Mifflinburg High School in 1936 and the Central Pennsylvania Business School in Harrisburg in 1937. She was employed by the former Rosedale Dairy in New Berlin. She retired in 1979 as an order checker for Moore Business Forms, Lewisburg. She was a member of the Emmanuel United Church of Christ, New Berlin, and was church organist for more than 20 years. She also was a life member of the New Berlin Heritage Association and a social member of the Moore Mixers. Surviving, besides her husband, are a son, James A. of Lancaster, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Don Ray in 1992 and Jack Benjamin in 1949, a brother, Karl Musser in 1982, and a grandson, Michael Carl in 1966. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the church, 326 Market St., New Berlin, with the Rev. Alice D. Rauch, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the New Berlin Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday. Arrangements are being handled by Schwartz’s, New Berlin-Mifflinburg.

David Walter Fluke
TROY - David Walter Fluke, 66, of Columbia Crossroads died there Friday, Oct. 27, 2000. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, he received a masters degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. He retired in 1988 from Troy High School, where he was a guidance counselor. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Adult Continuing Education and a past president of the Pennsylvania State Education Association. Born June 27, 1934, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Ollie and Relande Lyons Fluke. Surviving, besides his wife of 34 years, the former Juliet Byrd Howells, is a brother, Allan Lyons of Pittsburgh, and a step-son, Edward E. Cummings of Philadelphia. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Vickery’s, 110 W. Main St., with the Rev. Andrew J. Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Larry G. Foust
DANVILLE – Larry G. Foust, 57, a Danville native, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at Geisinger Medical Center. He owned the Danville Laundry Mat. A Danville High School graduate, he coached the Danville Bowling Team and was a member of the Bowlers Hall of Fame. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Born Jan. 30, 1943, he was a son of Guy and Ruth Seitzer Foust. Surviving, besides his wife of 27 years, the former Sherry Mutchler, are a son, Michael, at home; two daughters, Michelle Arbo of Toronto, Canada, and Melissa Ward of Meaford, Canada; and a sister, Joanne Bryan of Dover, Del. The funeral is at 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Harry Wonderland, his pastor, and David Mouw officiating. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the church.

Edith Groff
MILLMONT - Edith Elizabeth Gehman Groff, 77, of 1 Grassmyer Lane, Mattawana, formerly of Millmont, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000. Arrangements are being handled by Schwartz’s, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg.

Eugene R. Heinze
FORKSVILLE - Eugene R. Heinze, 64, of Forksville RR 1, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. A lumberman and a small engine repairman, he formerly was employed by McCarty and Driscoll. He attended the Millview Wesleyan Church. Born March 15, 1936, in Sullivan County, he was a son of Harry and Mary Mullen Heinze. Surviving besides his wife of 43 years, the former Geraldine Sullivan, and his mother of Estella, are a son, Kevin of New Albany; two daughters, Mary Lou Woodruff of Warrington and Penny Blasi of Dushore; two brothers, Ronald of Forksville and Royce in Illinois; a sister, Susan Byrnes of Williamsport. A son, Raymond Heinze, died Oct. 27, 1980. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at McHenry’s, 119 Carpenter St., Dushore, with the Rev. Robert Martin, pastor of Redeemer United Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be in Forksville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday.

Russell Henry Page
BLOSSBURG - Russell Henry Page, 89, of Blossburg died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at The Green Home, Wellsboro. He retired from Ward Manufacturing after more than 30 years and had been a borough police officer. He was a member of the Holy Child Catholic Church, Mansfield, the Blossburg Knights of Columus Council 2167 and Whispering Pines Cap and Flint Club. Surviving, besides his wife of 44 years, Kathleen, are three sons, Russell Jr. of Blossburg, Carl of Harrisburg and William of Mansfield; one daughter, Doris Scheerer of Blossburg; three sisters, Daisy Waight and Lillian Sechrist, both of Pine City, N.Y., and Kate Perkowski of Elmira, N.Y.; three brothers, John of Horseheads, N.Y., Ken of Ithica, N.Y., and Jim of Pine City; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. His first wife, Margaret, died in 1953. A brother, Raymond, died in 1978. A prayer service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zwicharowski’s, 314 Granger St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. at the Holy Child Cathoic Church with the Rev. Louis Kaminski officiating. Interment will be in Arbon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. A vigil service and Knights of Columbia service are planned.

Maria A. Weiss
GALETON - Maria A. Weiss, 65, of Harrison Valley, formerly of Galeton, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, in Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. She and her husband, Milton J. Weiss, observed their 47th wedding anniversary Oct. 2. She was a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Technology. She had been a nurse at Galeton Production, Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport, The Green Home in Wellsboro, Roseview Manor, and the Northern Tier Children’s Home in Harrison Valley. She was a member of the North Bingham Community Church and the Ladies Prayer Group. Born Dec. 3, 1934, in Brownsville, Texas, she was a daughter of Alvaro F. and Apolonia Nevadomsky Alvarez. Surviving, besides her husband, are her mother of San Francisco, Calif.; two sons, Joseph of Galeton and Shane of Harrison Valley; a daughter, Tina Morris of Clarksville, Tenn.; five brothers, Alvaro of Cleveland, Ohio, Robert and Charles, both of San Antonio, Texas, Anthony of San Francisco, and Steven Smith of Jackson, La.; two sisters, Josephine Crowder of Wyndote, OklaŠ, and Betty Friley of Covington, La.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Olney’s, Ulysses. The Rev. William W. Allen, pastor of the North Bingham Community Church, will officiate.

Carol Ann Cohick
JERSEY SHORE - Carol Ann Cohick, 52, of Jersey Shore died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, after an extended illness. She and her husband, Lester F. Cohick, observed their 31st wedding anniversary Feb. 24. She was a caregiver for Care for People, Bellefonte. Born Jan. 6, 1948, in Wellsboro, she was a daughter of Arthur and Ada Learn Losinger. Surviving are a daughter, Christy Cohick of Williamsport; seven sisters, Bernice Gridley, Betty Housel, Ruth Watters and Arlene Gross, all of Wellsboro, Elva Meyer of Nelson, Joyce Aldrich of Mansfield and Alice Meyer of Sequin, Texas. She was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Campbell, of Wellsboro. A private service will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Tussey-Mosher’s, 139 Main St., Wellsboro.

Beatrice M. Pegg
Beatrice M. Pegg, 90, of Grandview Health Home, Danville, formerly of this city, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000. Her first husband, Jesse J. Keller, died in 1942. Her second husband, Myron S. Pegg, died in 1985. She was a housewife. Born June 28, 1910, in Bloomsburg, she was a daughter of Clarence and Lulu Buck Keefer. Surviving are five daughters, Dolores A. Reedy of Danville, Arminta M. Ranck of Jersey Shore, Betty Lou Staeb of Chincoteague, Va., Ramona P.Love of Aberdeen, Md., and Almetta H. Troupe of Sunbury; three sons, Edwin L. Keller of Montoursville, Raymond A. Keller of this city, Dale Bardo of Koscuisko, Miss.; 42 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Maneval’s, 500 W. Fourth St. Burial will be in Lungerville Cemetery, Unityville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Miriam M. Poorman
LOCK HAVEN - Miriam Miller Poorman, 79, formerly of 905 Bellefonte Ave., died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, in the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit, where she lived for three years. Her husband, Lewis H. Poorman Jr., died April 27, 1964. She was employed at the former Armature Plant here, now Champion Parts, retiring in the mid-1980s from the shipping department after 49 years. Poorman was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ. She was a 1940 graduate of the former Lock Haven High School. Born Feb. 5, 1921, in Beech Creek, she was a daughter of Owen and Irene Scantlin Miller. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Pauline Wells of Mill Hall; several nieces and nephews, including Louise Ferguson of Wellsville, N.Y. She was predeceased by three brothers, seven sisters. A private funeral will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. The family will provide the flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Yost-Gedon’s, 121 W. Main St.

Lillian Louise Toler
Lillian Louise Toler, 90, a city resident, formerly of Tionesta, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at Beverly Health Care, Oil City. She is survived by her husband, Harold G. Toler. Born March 28, 1910, in Youngstown, Ohio, she was a daughter of Charles W. and Lillian Grace Wulf Ulrich. She was a registered nurse at Divine Providence and Williamsport hospitals. She attended nursing school in Youngstown, Ohio. She was a member of the High Street Methodist Church, Eastern Star, the American Red Cross, Felica 500, the Amaranth Cleo Club, the Story League and the Baldwin Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by a son, David R. of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Vivian L. Schwab of Tionesta; a sister, Rosemary Thorwarth of Rockville, Md.; four grandchildren, Tammy Taylor, James R. Schwab, Jr., Brian and Amy Toler; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wimer’s, 161 Elm St., Tionesta. The Rev. Earl Cornuet will officiate. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Tionesta. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Crystal Whitteker
MANSFIELD - Crystal Juliett Bailey Whitteker, 83, formerly of Mansfield, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at the Green Home, Wellsboro. Her husband, the former Stanley W. Whitteker, died Dec. 16, 1994. She was employed at Coles Pharmacy and with Dr. Sanford’s office. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, having retired as church secretary in 1988. She was a member of the United Methodist Church Women and Alpha-Delta Sunday School Class. Born June 7, 1917, in Wetona, she was a daughter of John and Anna B. Bailey. Surviving are a son, Carson W. of Mansfield; a daughter, Marcia W. Stout of Jersey Shore; a sister, Thelma Putnam of Mansfield; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richmond and Carson Bailey, and a sister, Thalia Bennett. Private family services will be at Scureman’s, 131 S. Main St., with her pastor, the Rev. Joyce Treas, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
