FLEMINGTON - Elma J. Burgin, 77, of 881 Herr St. died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at home. Her husband, William M. Burgin, died Nov. 1, 1997. She retired as postmistress at Cross Fork and formerly was a dental hygienist at the Centilla Plant during World War II. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Renovo, and, after moving to Lock Haven, attended St. Agnes Church. Born Oct. 21, 1923, in Troy, N.Y., she was a daughter of Joseph and Frances Foley Grosse. Surviving are two daughters, Sherrie F. of Flemington and Deborah J. Sutton of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sons, Mark W. of Lock Haven and William C. of Myrtle Beach; a sister, Frances Weir of Oneonta, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph J. Grosse of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at her home. Arrangements are being handled by Wetzler’s, 320 Main St., Mill Hall.

Mary Jane Foust
ELIMSPORT - Mary Jane Foust, 82, of South Route 44 died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at home. She and her husband, Roger H. Foust, observed their 59th wedding anniversary Sept. 27. She retired from Zenith, Watsontown, after eight years and previously had worked for 30 years for Maple Press Co., York, as a bookbinder. She was a member of Zafar Grottoettes, South Williamsport, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 321, Elimsport Homemakers and was on the board of the Penn State Extension Office. Born Aug. 20, 1918, in West York, she was a daughter of Norman F. and Florence R. Householder Welsh. Surviving, besides her husband, are a daughter, Nancy J. Wagner of Spring Grove; a son, Charles N. of East Berlin; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Elimsport United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Max W. Furman and Theodore L. Cockley, chaplain of Susquehanna Home Health Hospice, officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Cronrath’s, 308 Main St., Watsontown.

Milton T. Cohen
LOCK HAVEN - Milton T. Cohen, 78, of 24 Cree Drive died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at SusqueView Nursing Home, where he had been a resident since 1978. He had been employed by the former American Analine as a lab technician. Born March 23, 1922, he was a son of Harry Cohen and Eva Miller Cohen Sisenwein. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Beth Yahuda Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Yost-Gedon’s, 121 W. Main St.

Henrietta McClure Bailey
Henrietta M. McClure Bailey, 87, of Troy, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at Bradford County Manor, Burlington. Her husband, Lawrence Bailey died in 1957. She retired from Troy Community Hospital as a cook in the dietary department. She was a former member of Fasset Baptist Church and a recent member of First Baptist Church of Troy and was a Sunday school teacher, choir member and leader of the Baptist Youth Fellowship. She was a leader of the 4-H. Born Nov. 30, 1912, in Bungy, she was a daughter of Thad Roy and Lola Roby McClure. Surviving are a daughter Ann Egli of Troy; two grandchildren, Lawrence Lee and Lisa Deemy; a step-grandson, Micahel J. Egli Jr.; a brother, Earl McClure; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold McClure. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Troy, Canton St., with the Rev. Gary Zuber, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Vickery’s, 110 West Main St., Troy.

Andrew J. Cunningham
Andrew J. Cunningham, 53, of Cherry Flats, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, as a result of a motorcycle accident near Renovo, Oct. 27. He and his wife, the former Doris “Pete” Propheta, observed their 20th wedding anniversary July 25. He was assistant technical manager for NuKabe Inc., Wellsboro. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and Lambs Creek Hunting Club. He earned his associates in applied science from Corning Community College in 1998. He was a member of Holy Child Roman Catholic Church, Mansfield. Born Aug. 28, 1947, in Philadelphia, he was a son of Thomas J. and Henrietta Anderson Cunningham. Surviving, besides his wife, are his mother of Norwood; three daughters, Samantha, Amanda and Rebecca all of Cherry Flats; two brothers, Thomas of Missoula, Mont. and Michael of Rutledge; and six sisters, Patricia Yax of Boise, Idaho, Henrietta Keenan of West Chester, Delphine McManus of Ridley, Terry Reed of Eagle Bend, Minn., Ann Franco of Phoenixville and Kathleen McMahon of Philadelphia. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, Mansfield, with the Rev. Louis Kaminski, officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Wellsboro. Friends may call at Tussey-Mosher’s, 139 Main St., Wellsboro from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Cheyenne Pearl Derrick
Cheyenne Pearl Derrick, infant daughter of Matthew Treon and Jennifer Kay Martinez Derrick of 501 Walnut St., Penns Creek, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, shortly after birth at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. Surviving, besides her parents, are two sisters, Courtenay Renee and Jamie Cole, both of Penns Creek; a brother, Cody Joel of Penns Creek; maternal grandparents, Carolyn and Casimiro B. Martinez of this city; paternal grandparents, Gary D. and Patricia A. Derrick of Watsontown; maternal great-grandmother, Dolores B. Martinez of St. Joseph, Mo.; maternal great-grandfather, Nile G. Frost of Galiton, Mo.; paternal great-grandmother, June A. Crawford of Watsontown; and paternal great-grandparents, Glenn W. and Vivian J. Derrick of Picture Rocks. The funeral will be at noon today in East Side Cemetery, Babyland section, Mifflinburg, with the Rev. Dennis E. Beaver, First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg, officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Schwartz’s, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg.

Ralph W. Greenleaf
The services are today for Ralph W. Greenleaf, 65, of 1715 Clarion Drive who died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at home. He and his wife, the former Susan Rampulla, observed their 27th wedding anniversary June 30. He retired in 1991 as an auditor manager for CNA Insurance Co. He served in the Air Force for four years from 1954 to 1958. He was a member of the Bridge Club, Young Men’s Republican Club and former secretary of the Loyalsock Township Lions Club. A 1962 graduate of Clark University he earned a bachelors in business administration. He was a member St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Born April 25, 1935, in Worcester, Mass., he was a son of Ralph and Alice Foley Greenleaf. Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Elena at home, and a sister Ruth Mercer of Worcester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. at the church, Northway Road and Sheridan Street, with the Rev. Andrew Kurovsky officiating

Kenneth Weigle Hoag
Kenneth Weigle Hoag, 78, of Zephyrhills, Fla., died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at 10813 Stamford Drive, Port Richey, Fla. He was a retired mail carrier for Trout Run. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Canton. Born in Ralston he was a Florida winter resident in Muncy. Surviving are his wife, Flora L. Hoag of Zephyrhills; a son, Thomas Earl of Scottsdale, Ariz; a daughter, Karen Jean Innes of Scottsdale; and a grandson, Robert Innes of San Francisco, Calif. Arrangements are being handled by Dobies’, 9944 Hudson Ave., Hudson, Fla.

Janet W. Hutchinson
Janet W. Hutchinson, 77, of 509 Nicely Ave., Montoursville, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at Valley View Nursing Center. She and her husband, Robert W. Hutchinson, observed their 51st wedding anniversary May 7. She retired from the former C.A. Reed Co. She was a member of Montoursville garden Club and the Williamsport Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Montoursville. Born June 21, 1922, in DuBois, she was a daughter of William and Bethia Ward Wynn. Surviving, besides her husband, are a stepdaughter, Roberta Vought of Muncy; a sister, Betty Bradley of Venice, Fla; and a brother, Lafayette Wynn of Port Charlotte, Fla. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Twin Hills Memorial Park, with the Rev. Jeffrey Zetto, officiating. There will be no visitation. The family will provide the flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Kaufman’s, 2102 Northway Road.

Mary C. Masters
Mary C. Masters, 80, of 1245 Mount Royal Heights, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at Williamsport Hospital. Her husband, William G. Masters, died Sept. 16, 1969. She was the former owner of M and M Ranch. Born Aug 1, 1920, in Jefferson County, she was a daughter of Wilbur and Mary Irene Shaffer Cable. Surviving are six sons, James H. of Billings, Mont., Terry W. of Waterbury, Neb., Jeffery J. of this city, Chris C. of Montoursville, Mark A. of Shickshinny and Todd G. of Hubbard, Neb.; three daughters, Billie L. Waldman of Muncy, Sharon L. Mitcheltree of this city and Ann H. Frantz of South Williamsport; two brothers, Donald E. Cable of Omaha, Neb., and Gordon M. Cable of Brookville; a sister, Elsie I. Mackey of Brookville; 25 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 17 stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph L. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel at Green Lawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. Clara L. Brown, chaplain, Williamsport Hospital, officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave.

Dorothy Leona Wilcox
CANTON - Dorothy Leona Wilcox, 82, of Cedar Ridge Apartments died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at the home of her daughter in Granville Township. Her husband, Wilber M. Wilcox, died Oct. 21, 1992. She was a homemaker and assisted on the family farm in Leroy Township. She attended school in Laquin. Born June 16, 1918, in Clearfield, she was a daughter of Fred and Jeanette Kyler Buck. Surviving are two daughters, Donna of Granville Summit and Kay of Troy; three sons, Lloyd of Leroy, Fred of Leroy Township and Stuart of Troy; a sister, Shirley Matthews of Canton; two brothers, Mark Buck of Troy and Dean Buck of Canton; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters. She was predeceased by two brothers, Herman and Elson Buck, and a sister, Beulah Messner. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pepper’s, Springbrook Drive, with the Rev. Jasper Smith, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Beech Flats Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m.

James F. Lowe Sr.
James F. Lowe Sr., 74, of 439 Dudek Road died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at the Williamsport Hospital Emergency Room after being stricken at home He and his wife, the former Ida L. Dudek, observed their 56th wedding anniversary July 8. He was a brakeman for Conrail, retiring in 1985 after 30 years. A World War II Navy veteran, he served on the U.S.S. Caperton. He was a member of Dietrick Lamade Lodge 755, F&AM, and the Williamsport Consistory. Born Jan. 2, 1926, in this city, he was a son of James and Ruth Frahn Lowe. Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, James F. Jr. and Franklin D., both of this city; two brothers, John H. of this city and Donald of South Willliamsport; two sisters, Dorothy Snieder of Melbourne Beach, Fla., and Carol Eisworth of this city; a grandson, Jeffrey; and a great-grandson. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Maneval’s, 500 W. Fourth St. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Kenneth A. Meier
Kenneth A. Meier, 80, of 2654 Haas Lane, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, in Hillside Assisted Living Center, Loyalsock Township. He and his wife, the former M. Eleanor Gilbert, observed their 54th wedding anniversary June 19. He retired as president from First National Bank, Linton, N.D., and was active in banking and civic organizations. He was previously an engineer at GTE. Sylvania, Montoursville. He was a Mason and past master of the Linton Lodge. He was an honorary trustee of Jamestown College, North Dakota. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and Linton United Methodist Church, Linton. Born March 23, 1920, in Linton, he was a son of John D. and Otella Hauge Meier. Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Kay Suzanne Seery of Iowa City, Iowa; two sisters, Lois Bleimann in Arizona and Laurel Sorlie in Minnesota; and two grandsons. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Montoursville Cemetery, with the Rev. Paul C. Murphy, his pastor, officiating. There will be no visitation. The family will provide the flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.

HUGHESVILLE - Judy V. Staivisky, 57, formerly of Hughesville, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at ManorCare Health Center, Williamsport, where she lived. She was a 1961 graduate of Hughesville High School. She enjoyed country music. Born April 25, 1943, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of John Sr. and Charlotte Bowen Staivisky. Surviving are two brothers, Jack Jr. of Hughesville and Gerald W. of Boynton Beach, Fla; and a sister, Jeanne L. of Tokyo, Japan. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at McCarty-Thomas’, 557 E. Water St., with the Rev. David K. Fishel, Hughesville Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday.

Margaret V. Shields
JERSEY SHORE - Margaret V. Shields, 79, formerly of Jersey Shore RR 1, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at Susqueview Center, Lock Haven, where she lived for four years. Her husband, Harry Richard Shields, died Jan. 21, 1998. She was a nurses aide at Susqueview for more than 30 years and had been employed 20 years at Sylvania, Mill Hall. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Avis American Legion Post 284 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5859 here. Born July 20, 1921, in Salona, she was a daughter of Charles C. and Cora Strouse Donahay. Surviving are a son, Larry E. of Avis; three sisters, Mary Catherine Nearhood of Avis, Betty Brooks of Jersey Shore and Alene Weaver of Lock Haven; a brother, Charles Donahay Jr. of Flemington; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven RR 1. Friends may call at Rearick-Carpenter’s, 1002 Allegheny St., from 7 to 9 tonight.

Donald A. Greenaway
Donald A. Greenaway, 54, of 1305 Route 14 Highway, Trout Run, died Thursay, Nov. 9, 2000, in Williamsport Hospital after being stricken at home. He and his wife, the former Jane E. Toth, observed their 10th wedding anniversary Aug. 18. He was an Army veteran. He worked as mechanic for the DuBoistown Garage. He was the lead guitarist for the All Most Country band and an avid bass fisherman. Born March 22, 1946, in this city, he was a son of Herman L. Sr. and Helen K. Kurtz Greenaway. Surving, besides his wife, are three sons, Donald A. Jr., Williamsport, Shane Greenaway, Va., Chad Greenaway, Va.; two step sons, Brian W. Harkness, Allentown, Michael D. Harkness, Proviencetown, Mass.; three brothers, Herman L. Greenaway, Cogan Station, Wayne A. Greenaway, Cogan Station, Charles A. Greenaway, Williamsport; three sisters, Patricia C. Rae, Cogan Station, Helen K. Kuhns, Cogan Station, Nancy D. Street, Cogan Station and three grandchildren.
