Milford W. “Sonny” Miller
Milford W. “Sonny” Miller, 79, of 51 Lynn St., Mifflinburg, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, in RiverWoods at Lewisburg. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. from the Mountain Road God’s Missionary Church at Penns Creek with Pastor Alan K. Walter officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. Interment will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park on Thursday at 3 p.m. Arrangements in charge of Betzer’s, Montgomery, PA.

John “Roy” Womer
John “Roy” Womer, 86, of Mt. Pleasant Mills, died at Nottingham Village Nursing Center, Northumberland, following a brief illness. Born Sept. 6, 1914, in Mt. Pleasant Mills, he was a son of Banks and Florence “Flossie” Mitterling Womer. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Thelma Mae Benner, and a daughter, Sandra A. Lauver and her husband, Pastor Bob A. of Muncy. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Valley Chapel, Mt. Pleasant Mills, with Pastor Enos M. Shelly and Pastor Bob A. Lauver, Son-in-law and pastor of the New LIfe Church, Muncy, assisting. Burial will be in Richfield Union Cemetery. The viewing will be Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Garman’s, Mt. Pleasant Mills and Thursday from 1-2 p.m. at the church.

Martha L. Frantz
Martha L. Frantz, 84, of 11 Quarry Rd., Muncy, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, in the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. She was born Feb. 18, 1916, in Muncy, the daughter of Reuben and Bessie DeWald Gottschall. She and her husband, Emerson L. Frantz, were married June 15, 1935. She was a 1933 graduate of Muncy High School and was a member of the Baptist faith. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Emerson, and her son, Ronald E., of Muncy. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Wallis-Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be Rev. D. Gene Patterson, pastor of Muncy Baptist Church. Interment will be in Muncy Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday.

Gail D. Skelton
Gail Diane (Barlow) Skelton, 52, of Alvira Road, Allenwood, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at home after an extended illness. Born July 28, 1948, Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of Michael and Virginia Cross Barlow of Allison Park. On July 15, 1967, she married Dave Skelton, a CCN sales representative for CATV Services. She was a 1966 graduate of Hampton High School, attended art courses in Pittsburgh in 1965, graduated key punch school in 1967, and was a graduate of Williamsport Area Community College, with courses in restaurant management. In May of 2000, cancer forced her to take disability from Springs Manufacturing, Montgomery, where she had been employed for 11 1/2 years. She previously worked at City View Inn, South Williamsport. She attended St. John’s Methodist Church, Allenwood. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers and Pirates. She enjoyed reading, cross-stitching, crocheting, layout designing, painting Christmas decorations and flowers, especially yellows and purples. She enjoyed her family - husband, two boys, daughter-in-law and granddaughters. Surviving, in addition to her husband and parents, two sons, and one daughter-in-law, William and Margaret Skelton of Allenwood and Robert Skelton of Wilmington, N.C.; two granddaughters, Shelby and Courtney, both of Allenwood; four brothers, Ronald Barlow of Greensboro, N.C., David Barlow of Castle Rock, Wash., James Barlow of Chicago and Michael Barlow of Las Vegas; and three sisters, Jeanne Roche of Acme, Nancy Berlin of Columbus, Ohio, and Sally Gibson of Butler.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Ranck’s, 125 N. Front St., Milton, and 11 a.m.-noon Wednesday, St. John’s Methodist Church, Allenwood. The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at the church, with Rev. Max W. Furman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Treatment Association, Divine Providence Hospital, 1100 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport, PA 17701, or to Susquehanna Health Services Home Care and Hospice, 1100 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport, PA 17701.

Loenida S. Sweely
Loenida S. Sweely, 89, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at the home of her niece in Swarthmore, Pa., where she resided for the past two years. She was the wife of the late Lucius C. Sweely. She was a longtime resident of Williamsport and a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She was a member of Williamsport Woman’s Club, Clio Club, Williamsport and Milton Garden Clubs. She was a National Accredited Flower Show Judge Emeritus and an avid bridge player. She is survived by nieces and nephews. Burial will be private. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, 1 p.m. at the church, 142 Market St., Williamsport. Memorial gifts may be sent to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or the Ways Garden Commission, c/o Parks & Streets Dept., 1550 W. Third St., Williamsport PA 17701.

Catherine Wolyniec
Catherine Wolyniec, formerly Elwood Rd., died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001. She was a retired owner and operator of Purity Bakery in the city for over 40 years. She was a member of St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Church, Lopez. Born in Lopez, she was a daughter of Paul and Mary Koretka Ball. Surviving are a son, Darwin S. Wolyniec, South Williamsport; 2 daughters, Carol M. Herrie, Pittsburgh and Joyce K Prichard, Frederick, M.D.; a brother, Michael Ball; 6 grandchildren, Michele Herrie, Amy, Jason, and Lisa Wolyniec, Sarah and Caleb Prichard; and a great-granddaughter, Amanda. She was preceded in death by a brother John Ball and a sister Helen Decker. Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Crouse’s, 133 E. Third St. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a memorial service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Vladmir’s Orthodox Church Cemetery.

Mary M. Morgan
Mary M. Morgan, 95, of Hughesville, died Sunday Feb. 4, 2001,at the Riverwoods in Lewisburg. She is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Burton Morgan, who died March 22, 1987. Mary was a homemaker and loved gardening. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and active in the Woman’s Society. She was a life member of the P.T.A., a former Hughesville Band Parent and member of the Rebekahs. She helped start a quilting group at the Hughesville Library.
Born May 16, 1905, in Alberta, Canada, she was a daughter of Joseph & Anna Mack. Mary is survived by three children, Ruth Maginsky of Chambersburg, Naomi Huffman of Hughesville and Eveline Bland of Sarasota, FL; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. Mary is predeceased by a son, Clifford, who died Jan. 15, 1959. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ United Methodist Church, S. Main St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Ralph Hibbs officiating. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call from 11-11:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. The family will provide the flowers.

Eleanor M. Deljanovan
Eleanor M. Deljanovan, 83, of 1201 Rural Ave., died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, in Rose View Center. She was a member of Pine Run U.M. Church. Born June 24, 1917, in Linden, a daughter of Charles E. and Viola Lowmiller. Surviving are four daughters, Joyce M. Peters and Linda K. Dietrick both of Wmspt: Joan M. Shipman of Jackson Hole, WY; and Norma J. Scruggs of Linden; a sister, Wanda Heverly of Wmspt; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held at Woodward Twp. Cemetery, Thursday 11 am. No visitation. The family will provide the flowers. Knight-Confer Funeral Home

Edgar D. Robbins
Edgar D. Robbins, 87, of Seaford, Del., a former area resident, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Methodist Manor House, Seaford. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Arrangements are being handled by Short’s, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, Del.

Harriet E. Barnett
Harriet E. Barnett, 94, resident of Berea, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Southwest General Health Care Center, Middleburg Heights, Ohio. She was born in Williamsport and graduated as valedictorian of her Williamsport High School Class. She was the daughter of the late Israel and Ursula Klingler. She is the wife of the late John M. Barnett and the mother of Patricia A. Wright of Salem, N.C. and Mary Ellen Williams of Strongsville, Ohio. She is proceeded in death by five brothers. She is a grandmother of five and a great grandmother of seven. All Services are private and burial will be at the Montoursville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parma Symphony Orchestra, 1148 Fireside Trail, Broadview Heights, Ohio 44147 or the Friends Of the Children GUA 016 P.O. Box 02-5368 Miami, Florida 33102. Arrangements were handled by the Baker Funeral Home in Berea, Ohio.

Richard W. Tressler
Richard W. Tressler, 78, formerly of 2021 Park Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, in Sycamore Manor. He was a Past Master and Instructor of Dietrick Lamade Lodge #755 F.&A.M. and a member of the Williamsport Consistory and Zafar Grotto. He was a member of the Railroad Retirees Breakfast Club, AARP, Trout Run Senior Citizens, and a life member of the NRA. He was a lifelong United Methodist. He retired in 1983 as a conductor for the Pennsylvania, Penn Central and Conrail Railroads after 42 years of service. An Army veteran of WW II, he received the Bronze Star with the Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart. Born May 30, 1922 in Renovo, he was the son of Harvey W. and Maryjane G. Stricker Tressler. Surviving is a son, Ronald Wayne, Salladasburg; two daughters, Sharon E. DiStasi and Rose M. Fry both of Cogan Station; two brothers, Harvey W., Jr., Milton and Andrew C., Cogan Station; two sisters, Dorothy I. Brink, Trout Run and Patricia A. Dunkleberger, Wmspt.; 3 grandchildren, Richard Wayne Tressler, Joanne Marie Fry and Jack L. Fry III, and a great grandson, Ronald Wilson Tressler. He was predeceased by his first wife of 45 years, Georgene B. Lowe; his second wife, Athalia M. Bower; and two sisters and a brother. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m., Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., With the Rev. Mark Applebee of Greenview Alliance Church officiating. Interment will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday. A Masonic service will be held at 8:30 p.m.

Fred J. Laidacker
Fred J. Laidacker, 82, First St., Danville, formerly of Turbotville, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 at Geisinger Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, the former Geraldine M. Artley. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 13, 10 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville. Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery with full military honors. The family will provide the flowers.

Betty K. Sheasley
Betty Kephart Sheasley, 80, formerly of Kephart Plaza, Lock Haven, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at Susque-View Home of Lock Haven. Her husband, Dean Clifton Sheasley, died Nov. 9, 1991. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Yost-Gedon’s, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven, with the Rev. Marie Lewis officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received in the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Thursday.

Lucy J. Walton
Lucy J. Walton, 85, formerly of Spruce St., died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Manor Care Nursing Home, Camp Hill. She was retired from Shop Vac. Corp., here in city. She was a member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church and the church’s Christian Womens Association. Born April 20, 1915, in Ralston, she was a daughter of Sisto and Adeline DeMartino Liberti. Surviving are her husband, Paul W. Walton; sons Louis Liberti, Linden and H. John Walton, Santa Rosa, Calif.; daughters Donna Heckard of Mechanicsburg and Dorothea Baszczewski of Montoursville; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel E. Baszczewski in July 1996. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, 635 Hepburn St., with her pastor, Msgr. Francis J. Castellano officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call at Crouse’s, 133 E. Third St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. The family will provide the flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church Building Fund, 635 Hepburn St., Williamsport, Pa. 17701.

Helen M. Gaylord
Helen M. Gaylord, 89, formerly of Mansfield, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at Broad Acres Nursing Home, Wellsboro. Her husband, Lewis, died in 1966. Born May 8, 1911, in Minden, W.V., she was a daughter of John and Anna Myers Dempsey. Funeral services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery, Roseville. Arrangements are being handled by Wilston’s, Mansfield.
