Helen F. Reeder
Helen F. Reeder, 97, formerly of Warrensville, died Monday, March 19, 2001 at La Colina Health Care Center, Tucson, Ariz. She was born May 26, 1903 in Hepburn Township, to Charles F. and Hannah Heim Fisher. She was a homemaker and did weaving on a hand-hewn loom that had belonged to her great grandfather, Jacob Heim. This loom is now in the Lycoming County Historical Museum, Williamsport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar L. Reeder in 1979, and stepson, Paul W. in 1998. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Lenore R. Rutschky, State College, 7 step grandchildren, 15 step great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Catalina Baptist Church, Tucson. She will be interred in Montoursville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Luella M. Ulrich
Luella M. Ulrich, 84, died Sat. March 24, 2001 at Manor Care Health Services North following a lengthy illness. Her husband, Paul L. Ulrich, died August 12, 1993. She retired in 1979 from the former Sharwell Manufacturing Co. after 25 years of service, was a member of ILGWU and St. Luke Lutheran Church. Born October 29, 1916 in Munson, Pa., a daughter of John T. and Hilda Dahlgren Berish. Surviving are a son, Paul A. of Troy; daughters, Sonja L. Day of Nisbet, Sandra L. Luke of Williamsport and Tami M. Gillis of Pomeno Beach, Fla.; sisters, Ernestine L. North of Fla. and Shirley M. Day of Nisbet; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. Memorial service, 11 a.m. Tuesday at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., with Rev. David B. Morris of Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) of Canton, officiating. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery. No visitation. Family will provide the flowers and suggest contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association of NE Pa., 71 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, Pa., 18701.

Gloria D. Bell
Gloria D. Bell, 78, of 301 West Mountain Ave., South Williamsport, died Sunday, March 25, 2001 at her home. She and her husband Richard T. Bell, celebrated their 53 wedding anniversary last May 3. Mrs. Bell graduated from Pierre S. DuPont High School, Wilmington, DE, class of 1940. She graduated from Williamsport School of Nursing in 1946. She worked for Armour Leather, American Red Cross, Divine Providence Hospital and Darling Valve. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, and Williamsport Nurses Alumni. Born April 10, 1922 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Louis and Mary Merritte Morrell. Surviving in addition to her husband, are two sons R. Michael of Reading, and Thomas S. of Williamsport; one daughter, Susan Hause of White Deer; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one brother, Francis “Red” Morrell of Honeybrook, Pa.; her aunt Margaret Skeebey of Williamsport; 4 nieces, 3 nephews, 8 great nephews and 8 great nieces. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at her church, 344 Winthrop St., S. Williamsport with the Rev. Fr. Francis L. Pauselli officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Sanders’, 821 Diamond St.

Michael J. Cifone
Michael J. Cifone, 75, of 319 Rural Ave., died Saturday, March 24, 2001 at home. He and his wife, the former Miriam F. Adams observed their 44th wedding anniversary August 22. He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Born Jan. 12, 1926 in East Bristol, Conn., he was a son of Frank and Mary Mazzo Cifone. He was a World War II Navy veteran and served in the C.B.’s 1st battalion in the South Pacific theater of war. He was a member of Garrett Cochran American legion Post 1, Howard W. Kahler VFW Post 844, and 40 et 8 Lycoming Voiture 382. He loved crossword puzzles and T.V. game shows. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, John A. and Joseph M. both of the city; a daughter, Lynn Sanders of the city; four grandchildren, Michael Cifone, Mary and Dawn Reed and James Sanders; a great grandchild, Andrew Reed; two brothers, Angelo of Wenonak, N.J. and Mauro of Glendora, N.J.; and a sister, Margaret Chiaradio of Philadelphia. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Pete and a sister, Lucy Colonzi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd. on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. with the Msgr. Stephen McGough, his pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St. on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at the funeral home on Tuesday at 8 p..m. Burial will in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Clinton Twp.

Eugene L. Lauchley
Eugene LaRue Lauchley, 74, of 2588 Quaker Church Road, Pennsdale, died Sunday, March 25, 2001 at his residence. Arrangements are being handled by Galen R. Betzer’s, 108 N. Main St., Muncy.

Brenda L. Munro
Brenda Lea Munro, 38, of Selbyville, DE, died Thursday, March 22, 2001 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury MD. She was born in Danville, Pa. and was a graduate of Clarion State College, Clarion, Pa. She was a graphic artist and a member of St. Matthew’s by the Sea United Methodist Church, Fenwick Island, DE. Surviving are her parents, Paul E. and Charlotte E. Kisner of Muncy; her husband, Timothy J. Munro of Fenwick Island; two sons, Thomas J. and Daniel C. Herrick at home; and a stepson, Timothy A. Munro of Fenwick Island. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at St. Matthew’s by the Sea United Methodist Church, Dagsboro St. and Coastal Hwy., Fenwick Island, DE with the Rev. Ida B. Weigel
Ida Belle Weigel, 79, of 54 Main St., Antes Fort, died Thursday, March 22, 2001 at home. Her husband of 48 years, Frederick L. Weigel Sr., preceded her in death Jan. 14, 1989. She was a homemaker and enjoyed animals. Born June 1, 1921 in Canton, she was a daughter of Edward J. and Ida Belle Aaron Holmes. Surviving are a son, Richard J. Sr. of Antes Fort; a daughter, Betty J. Bowmaster of McElhattan; two sisters, June Huffman of Lock Haven and Edna Simcox of McElhattan; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Preceding her death were two sons, Frederick L. Jr. and Russell D.; a brother, Ed Holmes; a sister, Mae Kemmer; and 3 grandchildren, Kathy Guthrie, Jennifer L. and Michael Weigle. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rearick-Carpenter’s, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with the Rev. John Baney officiating. Burial will be in Jersey Shore Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Nancy W. Snyder
Nancy W. Snyder, age 74, of 12 Hillcrest Circle, Wellsboro, Pa., died March 25, 2001 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. She was the wife of William F. (Bill) Snyder whom she married September 14, 1946 in Passiac, N.J. She was born March 30, 1926 in Passiac, N.J., the daughter of the late Patrick and Ellen Devine Walker and Stepmother Margaret Sullivan Walker. She had been a resident of Tioga County since 1992, was a housewife and mother, and a member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church. Nancy, a woman of exceptional faith, was an inspiration to all who knew of her struggle with cancer. Nancy had a great devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and was instrumental in establishing eucharistic adoration at St. Peter’s Church. Surviving are her husband, loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Parish Center at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 28, 2001 from 7-9 p.m. A Wake Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 29, 2001 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Father Michael J. Sullivan and Father Thomas Scobach officiating. Burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Missionaries of the Blessed Sacrament, P.O. Charles A. Brooke
Charles A. Brooke, 64, of 1815 Brooke Lane, South Williamsport, PA, died Monday, March 26, 2001 at the Williamsport Hospital & Medical Center. Mr. Brooke served in both the United States Navy and Marine Corps. He was a member of the South Williamsport United Methodist Church. He also was a member of Lodge # 106 F.&A.M., Williamsport. He was a member of the Lycoming County Beagle Club, member and field trial secretary of the West Branch Beagle Club, and Treasurer of the North Eastern Beagle Gun Dog Federation. He was Vice President of the Pennsylvania Beagle Gun Dog Association. In 2000, he was appointed to the Pennsylvania Beagle Gun Dog Association Hall of Fame. Mr. Brooke was a graduate of the class of 1954 at South Williamsport High School, a 1963 graduate of Lycoming College, and had attended Bucknell University. He was the owner of the former Brooke Beverage at South Williamsport and the former Looking Glass and the Leather Connection stores in Williamsport. Mr. Brooke had taught at Loyalsock Township High School and at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport, until his retirement in 1999. He was born at South Williamsport, August 14, 1936, the son of the late LeRoy A. and Fannie M. Maynard Brooke. Surviving are his wife, the former Helen S. Hessert; together they observed their 44th wedding anniversary this past June 9th. Also surviving are a daughter, Susan A. (Joseph) Metzger, South Williamsport; two granddaughters, Cheryl and Julie Metzger; and one sister, Elsie Brooke, Williamsport. He was preceded in death by a brother, John and a sister, Dora. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday at the Noll Funeral Home, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport. The Rev. Dr. Dennis L. Otto, pastor at First United Methodist Church, Williamsport, will officiate. Interment will be at Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. The family will provide the flowers. Contributions in memory of Charles A. Brooke, may be made to Saint Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

Lena L. Peluso
Lena L. Peluso, 89, of 213 Kendall Ave., Jersey Shore, died Saturday, March 24, 2001 at ManorCare, Jersey Shore. Her husband, Anthony F. Peluso, died May 3, 1959. Born Dec. 2, 1911 in Jersey Shore, she was the daughter of the late Andrew & Stella Pagnotto Poleto. She was a homemaker, a nanny for Dr. E. M. Witthoff and a clerk for the former Grieco Grocery Store, Stavertown. Lena was a parishioner of St. Luke Catholic Church and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. Surviving are 2 sons, Nick and David Peluso, both of Jersey Shore; a sister, Rose Weaver of Albany, NY; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Frederick L.; a brother, Pete Poleto; a sister, Nellie Stone; a granddaughter, Tracey Lynn Peluso Olsen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, 10 a.m., at St. Luke Catholic Church, 118 Kendall Ave., Jersey Shore, with the Rev. Andrew S. Hvozdovic as the celebrant. Burial will be in Jersey Shore Cemetery. Friends may call at Rearick-Carpenter’s, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. If desired, memorials may be sent to Alzheimer Disease Assoc., 71 N. Chad E. Forsht
Chad E. Forsht, 25, of 256 Sterling Drive, Muncy, died Sunday, March 25, 2001 in Muncy. Born July 4, 1975 in Williamsport, he was the son of Ronald E. and Nancy K. Stiffler Forsht. He attended third through sixth grades at the Watsontown Christian Academy and was a 1993 graduate of Muncy High School, where he was a member of the varsity wrestling team and also played guard position on the junior varsity and varsity football teams. During his senior year he was co-captain of the football team, and also earned all-league status in the Mid Penn football conference. He was selected to participate in the Central PA PIAA District 4 Third Annual High School All-Star football game. He was a former student at Penn State University, Hazleton campus. He attended Pleasant View Wesleyan Church, Muncy. Surviving, in addition to his parents of Muncy, are a sister, Sheila K. Hudson of Falls Church, VA; two nieces, Hannah and Leah Hudson; his maternal grandparents, Charles and Marjorie Stiffler of Hollidaysburg; his paternal grandmother, Pauline Pacifico and his paternal step grandmother, Joyce Forsht, both of Altoona. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Pleasant View Wesleyan Church, 994 E. Penn St., Muncy. Officiating will be Rev. Ronald N. Sytsma. Burial will be in Muncy Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. Arrangements are being handled by Wallis-Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.

Robert G. Lupold
Robert G. “Bob” Lupold, 51, of RR1 Jersey Shore, died Monday, March 26, 2001 at Williamsport Hospital. Born Nov. 25, 1949, in Harrisburg, he was the son of Grant I. & Dorothy Duck Lupold. He was a carpenter of over 25 years, was a 1968 graduate of Jersey Shore High School and a 1970 graduate of Williamsport Area Community College. He was a member of Pine Creek Planning Commission and Phelps Chapel United Methodist Church. He was an avid bowler and hunter. Surviving are his father, 3 brothers, John & Grant L., both of Jersey Shore and Howard of Cogan Station; 2 sisters, Zora Carson of Weddington, NC & Ruth Lupold of Jersey Shore; 2 nieces & 5 nephews. The funeral will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m. at Phelps Chapel, Jersey Shore, with his pastor, the Rev. Tamara Smith officiating. Burial will be in Jersey Shore Cemetery. Friends may call at Rearick-Carpenter’s, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. The family will provide the flowers. Velda J. Shields Mims
Velda J. Shields Mims, 74, of California, died March 17, 2001 in California. She was born Jan 1, 1927 in Jersey Shore, the daughter of Harry B. & Claire R. Forcey Shields. Surviving are 6 daughters, Sharon & Marie, Springfield, MO., Cindi, Joanne, Denise & Diane of Chula Vista, Calif.; 4 sisters, Bernice Barner, Jersey Shore, Phyllis Eggler, Woolrich, Doris Barner, Loganton, Olive Miller, McElhattan; 3 brothers, Donald Shields, Clearfield, Ralph & Dale Shields, Jersey Shore. She was preceded in death by a brother, H. Richard Shields & a sister, Evelyn Clark. A memorial service will be held Saturday, 10:30 a.m. at Mt. View Alliance Church, Cemetery & Spruce St., Jersey Shore, with Pastor Edgar Manns officiating.

Elisah D. Counsil
Elisah David Counsil, 2, of 40 N. Mohawk Dr., Hughesville, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born Oct. 14, 1998, in Danville, he was the son of Robert Massic and Tina Counsil. He attended Trinity Gospel Church, Williamsport, with his mother. Surviving besides his mother of Hughesville and father of Williamsport, are maternal grandparents, Caroline J. & John Q. Counsil of Pine Creek; paternal grandmother, Linda Sterling of Harrisburg; maternal great grandmothers, Ruth J. Hilliard of Salladasburg and Mary Katherine Fink of Williamsport; paternal great grandparents, Lena & Lawrence Bower of Williamsport; an uncle, John Q. Counsil III stationed in Ft. Lewis, Wash.; and an aunt, Ruth A. Levan of Jersey Shore. The funeral service will be held Friday, 10 a.m., at Rearick-Carpenter’s, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with the Rev. Phillip J. Lesko officiating. Burial will be in Jersey Shore Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Eugene L. Lauchle
Eugene LaRue Lauchle, 74, a resident of 2588 Quaker Church Road, Pennsdale, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2001 at 10:18 a.m. at his residence following an illness of the past two years. Born January 4, 1927 at Williamsport, Lycoming Co., PA, he was the son of the late Rollin C. and Mildred G. (McCoy) Lauchle. Following his graduation from Muncy High School in 1948, he served in the US Air Force. He was retired from the Muncy School District. LaRue was a member of the Old Time Baptist Church at Warrensville and enjoyed hunting. Two of his greatest loves were farming the family farm and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, the former Esther Springman, with whom he celebrated a 48th wedding anniversary on November 14, 2000; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna J. and Joseph Scotto of Mechanicsburg, PA; one son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Terri Lauchle of Pennsdale, PA and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 29, 2001 at 11 a.m. from the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1730 Four Mile Drive, Williamsport, PA. Interment will be in the St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main Street, Muncy, PA.
