Jon ‘Scott’ Brubaker
Jon “Scott” Brubaker, age 59, of Morris Run, died Sunday April 29, 2007, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. Scott was born in Altoona on May 7, 1947, to Clarence and Beatrice McIntire Brubaker.
Scott was marriage to the former Mary Wunderle; the couple would have celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on May 1.
Scott retired from U.S. Steel, Fairless Works as a machinist.
Scott was a member of Bloss Lodge #350 F&A.M, LeFair Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Theodore Roosevelt American Legion Post#167 of Morris Run, and Corning Beagle Club.
Scott is survived by his wife Mary of Morris Run, his brothers and sisters, step-mother, sister-in-law Phyllis Hefner, the Nybeck family and many wonderful friends including “honey pie.” Preceding him in death were his parents.
Friends are invited to call at the Freeberg Funeral Home, Blossburg, Wednesday, May 2 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Eastern Star services will be at 7:30 p.m., a Masonic service at 8 p.m. followed by the memorial service.

Mary E. Eck
Mary E. Eck, 77, of Rauchtown Road, Jersey Shore, died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at the Jersey Shore Hospital.
She was born February 22, 2007, in South Williamsport, a daughter of William J. and Elizabeth Davis Breen. She was marriage October 31, 1964, to Foster E. Eck, who survives.
She was a homemaker most of her life and was a member of the Jersey Shore L.O.O.M., American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries.
Besides her husband, Foster, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Lavonne Bitner and her husband Jim of Rauchtown; one nephew, Don Godfrey; and three nieces, Denise Harrow, Denise Miller and Sherry Codispoti; along with several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Noll and Betty Godfrey.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, “a Life Celebration Home,” 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, where Life Celebration services will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ted Van Schoick officiating. Burial will be in the Twin Hills Memorial Park.
Her family suggests contributions be made to the Cancer Treatment Center, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Michael P. Burfield
Michael P. Burfield, 36, of 18 West Seventh Street, died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at the Williamsport Hospital where he was taken Friday after being stricken at home.
Born Aug. 12, 1970, in Johnson City, Tenn., he was the son of Constance Pittman Burfield and Joseph Michael Burfield.
Surviving are his mother of Muncy; father of Allenwood; daughter, Nicole Marie McKinley and granddaughter, Taylin Marie McKinley, both of Williamsport; maternal grandmother, Marian H. Pittman; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth A. Burfield; maternal great grandmother, Inez Aldridge; a nephew, Jarrett Burfield and a sister-in-law, Angela Burfield.
Mike was predeceased by siblings, Jennifer Ann, John D. and Joseph D. Burfield and nephew Wyatt Burfield.
A memorial service will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., with Rev. Darlene K. Little officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Taylin Marie McKinley Fund, c/o Legacy Bank, 120 West Fourth St., Williamsport.

Richard L. Fox
Richard L. Fox, 52, of Etters, died Sunday April 29, 2007, in Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Lower Paxton Twp.
He was a Clinical Coordinator for the State Correctional Institution, Camp Hill; an avid traveler; and enjoyed the outdoors and swimming.
Richard was born August 1, 1954, in Williamsport to the late Elwyn Mac Fox and the late Delores (Shaffer) Fox Bower.
He is survived by his companion, Wayne M. Gondal; two sisters, Deborah Fox of South Williamsport and Isabelle Knouse of Newberry Twp.; two brothers, Elwyn “Mac” Fox of Williamsport and Harry W. “Sam” Fox of Jersey Shore; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Fairview Twp. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to AIDS Community Alliance of Central PA, 401 Division St. Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Gladys R. Hansen
Gladys R. Hansen, formerly of Williamsport, passed away, April 30, 2007, at Manor Care in Lancaster.
She was born June 27, 1921, the daughter of Lawrence and Coila (nee:Lowe) Gumble.
Gladys was a member of the Aldersgate Methodist Church in East Brunswick, N.J., and an active member of the Blackwells Mills Canal House in Millstone, N.J., and the East Brunswick Senior Center.
She was a 17-year employee of Ingersol Rand Co. and during WWII she was a data entry for the government.
Gladys recently moved back to Pennsylvania and lived in Landisville to be near her family.
She is survived by a son, Richard of W. Va.; a granddaughter, Sherri; two grandsons, Derek and Walter; one great grandson, Walter; a daughter-in-law, Lucille of Beach Lake; a brother, Bertram (Diane) Gumble of Lancaster; and nieces and nephews.
Gladys was predeceased by her husband, George, in 1985, and a son, Donald, in 2007.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service 2 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2007, in Montoursville Cemetery.
Contributions can be made in Gladys’ memory to the Aldersgate Methodist Church, 568 Ryders Lane, East Brunswick, NJ 08816.
Arrangements are being handled by the Maneval Funeral Home, Ltd “A Life Celebration Home,” 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport.

Ralph W. Spencer
Ralph W. (Sonny) Spencer, 75, died Thursday, April 12, 2007 at York Hospital.
He was born Feb. 11, 1932 in Williamsport, the son of the late Ralph W. Spencer Sr. and Genevieve F. (Gillodes) Spencer.
Ralph was a member of Rose of Lima Church and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, York.
He was a 1950 graduate of Saint Joseph’s School and an altar server at Annunciation Catholic Church for many of those years.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, Nancy, Ralph is also survived by three sons, Harry and wife Vickie and Richard, all of York, Michael and wife Robin of Louman, N.Y.; one daughter, Phyllis Hess (John) of York; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Germaine and Ed Stanford and Betty Vance, all of Williamsport. There are six nieces and two nephews in Williamsport and three nieces and one nephew in Horseheads, N.Y.
A mass intention will be May 8 at 12:10 p.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church, Williamsport.

Joy Whiting Musselman
Joy Whiting Musselman, age 63, formerly of Laporte and Troy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 28, 2007, at the home of her daughter Amy in Pompano Beach, Fla.
Born August 14, 1943, in New Haven, Conn., Joy was the daughter of Dorothy Strauss Whiting and the late Raymond H. Whiting. She was raised in Chester, Conn., and graduated from the Chester High School and from Bloomsburg State Teacher’s College. It was at Bloomsburg that she met Kenneth A. Musselman Jr. of Benton and they marriage in 1964. Kenneth predeceased her this past March 9, 2007 after suffering a stroke.
Joy taught elementary school in Sullivan County for several years until she began raising their children. She and Ken were involved with the Laporte Little Theater for years, both behind the scenes in producing the shows, building sets, erecting the tent in the park, designing and making costumes; and also in performing several key roles.
After Ken became a professor at Mansfield University, they eventually moved their family to Troy to be closer to his work. There they soon made many new friends and Joy opened and operated a craft shop in Troy where she really enjoyed meeting her customers. She also continued her great love of gardening.
After Ken’s retirement from Mansfield, they sold their Troy home and began dividing their time between their summer place along the Allegheny River in Venango County and their winter home in St. Mary’s, Ga.
Joy was pre-deceased by an infant daughter and her dad. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Musselman Pinoargote; her husband, Gerardo; and their two young sons, Diego and Dante in Florida; her son, Luke Musselman and wife Mindi and their young son Matthew Hayden in Arizona; her mother, Dorothy in Conn.; a brother, Mark Whiting and his wife Barbara, Conn.; sister-in-law, Ruthann (Mrs. Wayne) Gavitt, Forksville; and two nieces and two nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, May 7 at 10 a.m. at the Mountain Ash Cemetery in Laporte with the Rev. Robert W. Brown and Deacon Joseph Roinick, officiating.
Memorials may be directed to the Sullivan County Library, P.O. Box 309, Dushore, PA 18614 or Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525, which provided care for Joy over the past several months.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore.
