ALBUS ­ Paul Wesley, 80, formerly of West Taylor Township, died Feb. 2, 2004, at home in Dearborn, Mich. He died peacefully in the arms of his stepson, Dennis. Born Jan. 26, 1924, son of Charles and Elsie (Ribblett) Albus. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Chester; and sisters, Helen Gilbert and Grace Pritt. Survived by wife of 30 years, Theresa Hornyak, and two stepsons, Norris "Biff" Caudill of Waterford, Mich., and Dennis Caudill of Minnesota. Also four stepgrandchildren, Bryant and Brandy Caudill, both of Michigan, and Katelin and Dennis Paul, both of Minnesota. Also niece, Jeannie Dix of Arkansas, and nephews, Ronnie Albus and Charles Pritt, both of Florida; the Rev. Vernon Pritt, Quakertown, Pa.; and Gary, Terry and Dennis Pritt, all of Johnstown. Numerous great-nieces and nephews. Paul attended school in State College, Pa., for blueprint reading and pattern making. Worked at CC Camp 60, Petersburg, Pa., building fire roads. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, where he was wounded Feb. 19, 1945, while fighting the Japanese on Iwo Jima. Retired from the Ford Motor Co., Detroit, Mich. Paul had a love for animals, enjoyed astrology, reading and listening to the radio. Paul will be remembered for his warm-hearted, caring ways, sense of humor, easygoing personality and his insightfulness. Friends were received and a brief service was held at Voran Funeral Home, Dearborn, Mich. Paul will be cremated and brought back to Pennsylvania to the mountains he loved. Donıt think of him as gone, his journeyıs already begun. Life holds so many facets, this Earth is only one.

CLEARY ­ Father James, TOR
CLEARY ­ Father James, TOR, 96, Sacred Heart Friary, Winchester, Va., died Feb. 6, 2004, at the friary. Born Dec. 29, 1907, in Ballinabery County, Wexford, Ireland, the son of then Cleary and Catherine (Murphy) Cleary. Father James attended St. Francis Prep School; St. Francis University in Loretto; the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where he received a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy in 1937; and St. Francis Seminary in Loretto. Father James professed his first Vows at Sacred Heart Novitiate in Loretto in 1934, and his Solemn Vows in 1937. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1941 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona by the Most Rev. Richard Guilfoyle, the late Bishop of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown. Father James served the Province of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis as the religious superior of St. Francis Friary and St. Francis Seminary in Loretto and at Sacred Heart Friary in Winchester, Va. He devoted many years to the Provinceıs formation program for young friars, serving as director of novices at Portiuncula Friary in Washington, D.C., and later at Sacred Heart Friary in Winchester. He continued his Franciscan and priestly ministry while residing at St. Louis Friary and St. Anthony Friary in Philadelphia. Since 1994, Father James devoted his time to the ministry of prayer at Sacred Heart Friary in Winchester and served as confessor and counselor to his fellow priests and religious, encouraging them in the development of their spiritual lives. Friends received from 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at Immaculate Conception Chapel on the campus of St. Francis University, Loretto, where a vigil service will be conducted at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the chapel, with the Very Rev. Christian R. Oravec, TOR, Minister Provincial, as principal celebrant. DRAGOVICH ­ Anna Marie, 66, Johnstown, died on Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Windber Hospice. Daughter of the late Michael R. and Marie (Kendera) Dragovich. Also preceded in death by brother, Michael S. Dragovich. Survived by sister, Arnoldine "Dolly² Shiley, and nephews, William, married to the former Kristine Knaze, and Stanley and Michael Shiley; and great-nephews, Zachary and Jacob Shiley. HAGAN ­ Dr. Francis C. "Frank," 82, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late H. Ruth (Dunnick) Hagan. Dr. Hagan was born in Nanty Glo on Dec. 13, 1921, he was the son of the late Andrew and Blanche (Kerr) Hagan. Dr. Hagan retired after 40 years as a podiatrist, having his own practice on West Market Street. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and attended St. Francis College. He graduated from Ohio School of Podiatry, and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Dr. Hagan is survived by a son, Dr. Mark C. Hagan; and a daughter, Carol B. Boggs, both of York; one grandson, Ryan Boggs; and a sister, Rita Nagy of Ebensburg. A visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the John W. OHLER ­ Clarence A., 79, of Elton, was taken home to be with his heavenly Father on Feb. 7, 2004. He was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Eureka 42, son of George W. and Dorothy (Barnhart) Ohler. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, William "Bill," George "Bud," Joseph, John and Norman "Gene"; sisters, Sadie Valentine, Ruth Wildenman, Polly Pierre, Mildred "Mid" Gratis, Kathryn Torak and Margaret "Peg" Walters. Survived by wife of 54 years, Arbutus (Heller) Ohler, Elton. Loving father of Karen, wife of David Soohy, Elton. Devoted grandfather of Nikki and Kayla, both of Elton. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Isabelle "Girlie" Ohler, Landfair, and Alma Ohler, Colorado; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins with whom he stayed in touch on a regular basis. Clarence served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he served as a radar operator on ships based in North Africa, Italy, France and Japan. He retired from Island Creek Coal Co. in 1988 after 40 years of service as an underground miner. Clarence was a member of Crossroads Community Church, Richland; UMWA and life member of the North East Hunting Association. He was an avid gardener, great storyteller, a Mr. fix-it and hunter. Throughout numerous mining accidents, heart surgeries and cancer treatments, he maintained a positive attitude and influenced others he touched greatly. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Andrew was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Julius and Steve Petruska, and sister, Helen Petruska. Survived by sisters-in-law, Vira, widow of Steve Petruska, and Helen, widow of Joseph Petruska, and will be sadly missed by sister-in-law, Barbara, widow of Julius Petruska. BERRY - William J., 44, Chelsea, Mich., died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at the University of Michigan Hospital. He was born on March 19, 1959, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of William B. and Lois G. (Langford) Berry. He received his B.S. and M.S. from the University of Notre Dame. Furthering his studies, he received his doctorate from Iowa State University in 1988. Bill had lived in the area of Chelsea for the past four months, coming from Johnstown. He worked for Jayson & Associates since 1996 as a senior scientist. Bill authored 15 scientific publications in his young career. He enjoyed being with his two sons, as well as cooking, gardening and tropical fish. Bill loved his family above all else in this world. He is survived by his wife, Carole L. Trybus, whom he married on June 23, 1984, and two sons, Zachary Trybus Berry, age 10, and Arthur William Berry, age 2. Also surviving are his parents, South Bend Ind.; two sisters, Elizabeth Berry-Kravis, MD, Des Plaines, Ill., and Suzanne Berry, Lopez, Wash.; brother, Thomas Berry, Ithaca, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Grandmother of 10, including special grandchildren, Lisa Christner, Kim Washington and Joe Stolar, and great-grandmother of 11. A former member of Grace Brethren Church keenagers and a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. DAVIS - Randy Joseph
DAVIS - Randy Joseph, 42, a native of Portage, and current resident of Chinle, Ariz., was called to his eternal rest, joining his brother, Ryan "Mooner," on Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in Los Angeles, Calif. Born Sept. 17, 1961, in Lancaster, Randy was the eldest child of Ronald F. "R.D." and Shirley (Sossong) Davis of Portage. Along with his brother, Ryan, Randy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Anthony and Gertrude Sossong, and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Stella Davis. Randy was the beloved brother of Rick, and wife, the former Bonnie Hochrein; Ron, and wife, the former Karen Myher; and Rob, and wife, the former Laurie Ronan, all of Portage; and sister, Shari, Florida. "Uncle Randy" cherished his four nephews, Trevor Ryan, Bryce Richard, Kyle Russell and Dominic Ryan, and niece, Camryn Elizabeth. Randy's warm smile and outgoing personality will always be treasured by his numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as his many, many friends. A 1979 graduate of Portage Area High School, Randy participated in the football, wrestling, basketball and track programs. He was a 1983 graduate of Penn State University, where he was a member of the rugby team and a member of the Penn State Alumni Association. A park ranger for the National Park Service for 20 years, Randy began his career in Independence Hall in Philadelphia. He was then transferred to Lincoln Boyhood National Park in Indiana. He then traveled across country to work at Hubbell Trading Post in Ganado, Ariz. Another transfer brought Randy home to the area to work for the Allegheny-Portage Railroad in Cresson. A final transfer took Randy back out west in 2001, to Canyon DeChelly National Park in Chinle, Ariz., where he was currently employed. Randy was also an on-land firefighter, having fought major wildfires in Florida as well as the west. Randy was an avid fan of the Portage Mustangs, Penn State Nittany Lions and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a member of the Jamestown Rod and Gun Club and a former member of the Portage Area Jaycees and Portage Historical Society. The Davis family will receive friends and family at the Dennis C. Beck Funeral Home, Main Street, Portage, from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12. A vigil service will be held Thursday evening. EMERT - Judith Ann, 55, Somerset, died Feb. 9, 2004, at her residence. Born June 24, 1948, in Lincoln Township, daughter of Howard William "Pap" and Lottie Grace (Slickerman) Emert. Sister of James W. Emert, married to the former Mary Bumbarger, Linda Sue Emert and Billy Lee Emert, all of Somerset. Also survived by nephews, James W. Emert, and fiancee, Angie, Elizabethtown, and Joel H. Emert, and friend, Karen Weigle, Stoystown. Also, a very, very close friend, Earl Boyts, Somerset, with whom she spent much time. Member of Beulah United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and enjoyed working with children. Judy enjoyed her family very much and spent many hours visiting at Patriot Manor. She was the best sister in the world and will be greatly missed. She had graduated in 1966 from Somerset High School. Worked as a cashier for the former J.J. Newberry Co. from 1966 to 1976 and worked as a billing clerk for Somerset R.E.C. from 1976 to 2001. Charlie retired after working 45 years for Pepsi Bottling Group as a customer equipment service representative. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Summerhill, where he served on the parish council, sang with the choir, was a member of St. John's Holy Name Society and served as chairman of the church picnic for many years. Charlie was president of the Summerhill Borough Volunteer Fire Co. for 40 years, was past president of the Cambria County Firemen's Association and member of Cambria County Fire School and Central District Firemen's Association. Terry was born in Conemaugh on Aug. 21, 1941, son of the late Thomas and Susan (Costlow) Kenjesky. Terry is survived by his wife, Jean Kenjesky of Kimberly; a son, Jeff Kenjesky of Menasha, Wis.; and a daughter, Kris (Richard) Gliganic of Carol Stream, Ill. His two grandchildren, Anthony and Angela, were the apple of his eye and they will miss their "Bumpa" dearly. Terry is further survived by a brother and two sisters. Andy never missed an opportunity to do what he could for his family or anyone he knew. He will be remembered by many and missed by all. Retired in 1976 after 37 years of employment at the Hollidaysburg Car Shop under PRR, Penn Central and Conrail. He proudly served his country during World War II as an aviation mechanic from 1941 to 1945. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sgt. and was awarded with the American Defense Service Medal, American Theater Campaign Medal, a Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. A lifetime member of Portage American Legion and St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Friends and family will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Dennis C.
