MAYOLA B. AMSLER
Mayola B. Amsler, 89, of Safety Harbor, Fla., formerly of Knox and Oil City, died of natural causes Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, in Westchester Gardens Rehab Center, Clearwater, Fla. She was born Sept. 24, 1912, in Mississippi. Mrs. Amsler moved to Safety Harbor in 1996. In her earlier years, she worked as a clerk in retail stores. Mrs. Amsler was a member of the Van United Methodist Church where she was the church organist for many years. She was married to Earl Amsler, who preceded her in death in 1975. Surviving are a daughter, Lois Crist of Safety Harbor, Fla.; a son, Don Amsler of Alta Loma, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Amsler was preceded in death by a son, Gary Amsler, in 1995. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in the Providence Church Cemetery at Knox RD 2. Arrangements are in charge of the William N. Rupert Mortuary in Knox.

MARGARET E. 'MEG' BUTLER
Margaret E. "Meg" Butler, 40, of Oil City, died Saturday afternoon of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Route 338 near Knox. The William N. Rupert Mortuary, Knox, is in charge of arrangements.

NORA BELLE BUZARD
Nora Belle Buzard, 79, of Allison Road, Clarion, Limestone Township, died unexpectedly at 9:10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, in the emergency room of Clarion Hospital. Born Sept. 22, 1922, in Clarion, she was a daughter of David H. and Bessie Reed Miller. In the 1940s, Mrs. Buzard worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone and from 1968 to 1977, she was the office assistant for Dr. Woodrow Bashline in Grove City. Mrs. Buzard was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Clarion. She also was a member of the Kingsville Homemakers Club. She was a homemaker and loved people.
Mrs. Buzard was married Aug. 8, 1942, to Hilton W. Buzard, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James (Linda) Ziccardi of Canton, Ohio; two sons, Lawrence H. Buzard of Arlington, Va., and Dr. Russel A. Buzard and his wife, Patricia, of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She also is survived by two brothers, Calvin Miller of Clarion and Richard Miller of Fisher; and a sister, Kathryn Styers of Clarion. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Buzard was preceded in death by five brothers, James Miller, Sidney Miller, Victor Miller, Roy Miller and John Miller; and two sisters, Iva Mae Hayes and Twila Mowery Kerr. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, Clarion, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church of Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Arnie Rhodes, pastor, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Rick Harry, associate pastor. Interment will be in Limestone Cemetery.

HELEN G. BYERS
Helen G. Byers, 89, of Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Sligo RD 1, formerly of Parker, died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in the Clarview facility. Born Sept. 27, 1912, in Dempseytown, Venango County, she was a daughter of Fred and Madge DeWoody Neely. Mrs. Byers was a member of the Parker United Methodist Church for more than 70 years and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She had served 13 years as tax collector for Parker Township, Butler County. Mrs. Byers was married in 1928 to Paul J. Byers, who died in December 1968. Surviving are a daughter, Helen Marie Byers of Clarview Nursing facility, Sligo RD 1; a niece, Nancy Trout Hindman of Penfield; and a great-nephew, Todd Hindman of Parker. Private funeral services will be held this evening in the Buzard Funeral Home in Parker with the Rev. Molly Brown of the Parker United Methodist Church, officiating. Private interment will be held Tuesday morning in Parker Presbyterian Cemetery.

FRANCIS J. FLETCHER
Francis J. Fletcher, 79, of Spokane, Wash., formerly of Marble, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, in North Point Retirement Community Arbor House Alzheimer's Wing, Spokane. The Faller Funeral Home of Fryburg is in charge of arrangements.

JERILYN 'DEE DEE' KROH MURAJDA
Jerilyn "Dee Dee" Kroh Murajda, 46, of 5B Evans St., Brookville, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Sept. 18, 1955, in Brookville, she was a daughter of James E. "Gene" and Marjorie Phillips Kroh. She attended DuBois Business College. Mrs. Murajda was a certified phlebotomist at DRMC West Hospital, DuBois. She most recently worked at the Health & Wellness Center and also at Means & Lauf Drug Store in Brookville. Mrs. Murajda attended Temple Baptist Church in DuBois. She enjoyed her family.
Surviving are her mother, Marjorie Kroh of Brookville; a niece and her husband, Aimee J. and Eric Groce of Brookville; a nephew, Jeffrey M. Shaffer of Brookville; and a sister, Mrs. Jerry R. (Andrea J.) Shaffer of Brookville. She was preceded in death by her father. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville. ANNA C. TAYLOR
Anna C. Taylor, 92, of Shawville, mother of a Franklin resident, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at her residence. Born Aug. 4, 1909, in Goshen Township, Shawville, she was a daughter of George Britton and Adelia Loy Graham Lingle. Mrs. Taylor was the owner/operator of Kramer Coal Co. in Shawville for 20 years. She was a member of the Shawville United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 20 years and played the organ for 10 years. Mrs. Taylor was a chapter chairman for the March of Dimes for 61 years. She was a member of the Bradford Grange for 53 years.
Mrs. Taylor was married Sept. 23, 1925, to Jesse Taylor, who survives. Also surviving are two children, M. Louise Jury of Clearfield and A. Bruce Taylor of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Donald K. Jury of Lecontes Mills, Mrs. David (Charlotte) Barrett of Wyoming, Pa., Mrs. Stephen (Judith L.) Clark of Frenchville, James L. Jury of Pittston, A. Bruce Taylor Jr. and Debra Taylor, both of Clarion, and Mrs. Michael (Jane K.) Hall of Washington, D.C.; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Taylor was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Dewey Lingle, Earl Lingle and Charles Lingle; a sister, Beulah Kolbe; and a great-grandson. BENJAMIN FRANKLIN 'FRANK' WECKERLY
Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Weckerly, 85, of West Freedom, died at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Sligo RD 1, where he had resided for the past few months. Mr. Weckerly was born Dec. 19, 1915, in West Freedom, Clarion County. He was honorably discharged after serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Weckerly was a laborer by occupation. He was employed by Allegheny Minerals, PennDOT and then by Rider Flooring and Trim, retiring there in December 1977. He was a member of the West Freedom United Methodist Church. He was a certified lay speaker in the United Methodist Church and had served as pastor of both the Rimerton and West Monterey charges. Mr. Weckerly was well-known for his vast knowledge of the Bible and his keen interest in prayer.
He was married Nov. 4, 1932, to Grace Evelyn Love, who survives. He died one day short of their 62nd wedding anniversary. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a special cousin, Audean Defibaugh of West Freedom, and several other cousins. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Wayne Street, Parker, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the West Freedom United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Barry Wiant, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Callensburg Cemetery.

MARGARET ELIZABETH WENCIL
Margaret Elizabeth Wencil, 93, formerly of 314 Moreland Drive, Franklin, died at 3 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in Sugar Creek Station, Franklin RD 3, where she had resided since January 1992. Born Sept. 25, 1908, in Clarion County, she was the daughter of Bertha Bashline. Mrs. Wencil was a homemaker and a Protestant. She was married May 16, 1948, to Raymond Wencil, who died July 3, 1983.
Surviving are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Alfred E. (Joyce M.) Pellow of Franklin and Ms. Mary E. Wencil of Washington, D.C.; four stepgrandchildren, Charles E. Pellow of Franklin, Stephen W. Wencil and Elaine B. Wencil, both of Millburn, N.J., and Marie Ellis of Washington, D.C.; and two step-great-grandchildren, Jonathan C. and Ernest P. Pellow of Franklin. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wencil was preceded in death by a stepson, Willis Paul Wencil, Sept. 3, 1992. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Robert W. Edgar L. Pence
Edgar L. Pence, 99, formerly of Liberty Towers, Clarion, and Leatherwood, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, in Clarion Hospital. Born July 3, 1902, in Porter Township, Clarion County, he was a son of Elmer L. and Della Mae Marshall Pence. Mr. Pence was a farmer. He was an active member of the Leatherwood Church where he served as an elder.
Mr. Pence was married Aug. 30, 1935, to Edna Mae Ellenberger, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Jack Kirkpatrick of Warren, Ohio, Rose Ann and Joseph Banner of Clarion, Evelyn and Larry Deal of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Norma Jean and Bill Johnson of Urbana, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pence was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, Carl, Owen and John; two sisters, Caroline Sigworth and Alice McCauley; two half brothers, Howard and Earl Pence; a half sister, Ethel Yount; a son-in-law, Donald R. Cline; and one great-grandson. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Goble Funeral Home of Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Johnson of Urbana, Ohio, and the Rev. Nelson Confer of Warren, officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery, Frogtown.

CLARENCE 'DALE' CORBETT
Clarence "Dale" Corbett, 81, of Cochranton died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at the Meadville Medical Center. Born June 14, 1920, in Frenchcreek Township, he was the son of Clarence and Wyona Amos Corbett. He was married July 14, 1944, to the former Ila Orr who survives. Mr. Corbett served in the Army Air Corps during World War II from Feb. 26, 1942 to Dec. 5, 1945, and received the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, American Campaign Medal, European-African and Middle East Campaign Medals. He retired in 1980 from Trinity Industries in Greenville. He also worked in construction and farming. Mr. Corbett enjoyed NASCAR racing, sports and gardening. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Diane) Robinson of Grand Rapids, Mich., Gloria Corbett of Carlton and Rose Corbett of Meadville; two sisters, Mrs. Lyle (Marian) McCartney of Illinois and Mrs. Alice Burchfield of Rocky Grove; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were three brothers, Frank, Norman and Eugene. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Ronald Dickson Funeral Home, Cochranton. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Rev. Andrew Stallsmith, retired Methodist minister, will officiate. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Garden, Meadville. BARBARA ANN DALY
Barbara Ann Daly, 52, of Kemmer Road, Summerville, Clarion County, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, in her home following a lengthy illness. Born May 11, 1949, in Butler, she was the daughter of Charles William and Margaret Hartman Daugherty. Her parents preceded her in death. She was married May 27, 1978, to Bernie Daly who survives. Mrs. Daly worked as an aide for the Clarion-Forest Visiting Nurses Association and at various nursing homes throughout Clarion County. She also worked at the Capt. Loomis Hotel in Clarion. She and her husband operated the Magic Forests Kennel at Summerville. Mrs. Daly taught dog obedience classes throughout Clarion County. She also showed dogs and was a very experienced dog trainer and behaviorist. She belonged to the New Castle Kennel Club, the DuBois-Jefferson Kennel Club, the Allegheny Pekingese Club and the Canton, Ohio, Pekingese Club. She was a member of the St. Nicholas Church at Crates.
Surviving in addition to her husband and their numerous canine companions are her mother-in-law, Helen Daly of Summerville; her step-mother, Dolores Daugherty of Butler; a sister, Deborah Romeo of Delaware; three brothers, Dennis Daugherty and Richard Daugherty, both of Butler, and Joseph Harvey of Crawford County; and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were a brother, William Frederick Daugherty, and a special friend, Annie Davis. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, Clarion. A Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Nicholas Church, Crates. Rev. William Laska, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Church Cemetery. HARVEY LEE DUNKLE
Harvey Lee Dunkle, 64, of Marienville died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at the Brookville Hospital. Arrangements are being handled by the Ronald McDonald Funeral Home in Marienville.

ARLENE V. HUGUS
Arlene V. Hugus, 89, of Knox, died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 17, 2001, at the Pennsylvania Memorial Home in Brookville following a short illness. Born May 29, 1912, in Venus, she was the eldest daughter of the late Harry P. and Olive M. Detar Kahle. She married W. Oscar Hugus, the Keystone Elementary School supervisor, Aug. 10, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1986. She was a graduate of Shippenville High School.
Mrs. Hugus was a member of the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church of Ninevah where she taught the Women's Bible Class and sang in the church choir for many years. She was recognized in 1989 by the Pennsylvania State Sunday School Association for 50 years of service in Sunday School. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara J. and Harold G. Baker of Knox; three sisters, Janet E. Hanna and her husband Rev. James G. Hanna of Knox, Louise A. Dunn of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Evelyn J. Kapp of Clark's Summit; a granddaughter and her husband, J. Lanea and Donald C. Burns of Knox; two great-grandchildren, Jennifer E. and Emily O. Burns, both of Knox; and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband and parents were an infant son and two brothers-in-law, Paul E. Dunn and Glenn W. Kapp. Friends were received Sunday at the William N. Rupert Mortuary Inc. in Knox. They will also be received from 10 to 11 a.m. today at the Grace Evangelical Church in Ninevah. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today in the church. Rev. Richard Osberg, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Knox Union Cemetery.

JEFFREY SCOTT SWOGGER
Jeffrey Scott Swogger, 33, of 1824 Wagner Ave., Erie, formerly of Cochranton, died Friday, Nov. 16 at St. Vincent Health Care, Erie, following a sudden illness. Born Jan. 28, 1968, in Meadville, he was a son of Patricia Hager Bravinder and Bruce Swogger. He was a graduate of Cochranton High School and continued his education at Memorial Tech of Erie, graduating in 1986. He was married June 15, 1993, to the former Wendy Pfaff who survives. Mr. Swogger was employed as a machinist at the R. M. Kerner Co. in Erie. He was a member of various snowmobile clubs.
Mr. Swogger was a Protestant. Surviving in addition to his wife are his mother, Patricia Bravinder of Erie; his father and his wife, Bruce and Sandy Swogger of Carlton; a brother and his wife, Brad and Linda Swogger of Erie; a sister-in law Tina Klink and her husband Al of Fredonia. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Ronald Dickson Funeral Home in Cochranton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Dr. Charles Van Dyne, pastor of the Hadley and Kennard Presbyterian Churches will officiate. Interment will be in the Milledgeville Cemetery, Carlton.

Wendell E. Heeter Sr.
Wendell E. Heeter Sr., 73, of Knox, died Saturday evening, Feb. 2, 2002, in Clarion Hospital. Born May 14, 1928, in Callensburg, he was a son of Leonard and Mildred Rupert Heeter. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Heeter owned and operated Heeter Construction, along with his father and brother, the late Robert Heeter, until 1975. He was a carpenter in Local No. 2274 with more than 50 years of service. Mr. Heeter prided himself in building bridges all over Pennsylvania.
He was a member of Edenburg Presbyterian Church and Edenburg Lodge No. 550, F. & A.M.. Mr. Heeter was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was married Nov. 10, 1950, to the former Twila Fitzgerald, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Wendell E. Heeter Jr. and Craig Heeter of Knox; two daughters, Mrs. Von (Karlene) Kimes of Knox and Lori Moran of Franklin; and five grandchildren, Ryan Heeter, Jarah Heeter, Dan Heeter and Ashleigh Kimes, all of Knox, and Britt Heeter of Callensburg. In addition to his parents and brother, Mr. Heeter was preceded in death by an infant sister. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Jay Montgomery, pastor of the Edenburg Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Knox Union Cemetery.

Charles R. 'Charley' Glenn
Charles R. "Charley" Glenn, 84, of Corsica, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, in Clarion Hospital. Born May 18, 1917, in Corsica, he was a son of Edward Perry and Amy Rebecca Oster Glenn. Mr. Glenn was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart Medal. He was self-employed for 40 years at Glenn Merchandising near Corsica. Mr. Glenn won the state of California Independent Primary in the 1984 presidential election. He served on the Clarion-Limestone School Board. Mr. Glenn was a guest lecturer in the psychology department at Clarion University. He was a certified hypnologist and had organized a local chapter of Life Science Church. Mr. Glenn was involved in his community, doing various volunteer services and social work. He enjoyed reading.
Mr. Glenn was married Oct. 23, 1946, to Elizabeth Ellen Simpson, who died Dec. 18, 2000. Surviving are a daughter, Carol Elizabeth Keeley of Tulsa, Okla.; five sons, Kenneth Charles Glenn and his wife, Sharon, of Ligonier, Ronald Irwin Glenn and his wife, Pat, of Strattanville, Dwight David Glenn and his wife, Luann, of Fisher, Charles Mark Glenn and his companion, Jennifer, of Harmony, and Leo Franklin Glenn and his fiancee, Chris, of Slippery Rock.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Glenn was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Ellen Glenn, in 1976; three sisters, Goldie Buman, Leona Serafin and Estelle Denning; and three brothers, David Glenn, Edward Glenn and Scott Glenn. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, Clarion. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Linda G. Douglass
Linda G. Douglass, 41, of 204 W. Seventh St., died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, in Presbyterian University Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a short illness. The Reinsel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Viola Irene Snyder
Viola Irene Snyder, 93, of 1689 Coal City Road, Kennerdell, died at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, in the home of her son and daughter-in-law, with whom she made her home. Born March 9, 1908, in Coal City, she was the daughter of George E. and Hulda A. Snyder Titus. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Snyder was a homemaker.
She enjoyed sewing and gardening and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Surviving are a son and his wife, Larry and Pamela Snyder of Kennerdell; two daughters, Betty Whitman and her husband, John, and Phyllis Snyder, all of Kennerdell; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by four brothers; seven sisters; a granddaughter, Irene Blair; and a grandson, Brian Snyder. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home, Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald C.
