Susie J. Nihart
Susie J. Nihart, 51, of 779 Railroad St., Jersey Shore, died Friday, March 25, 2005 at her home. She was born March 25, 1954 in Jersey Shore, the daughter of Gordon and Ruth Smead Runner. Susie married Ronald E. Nihart on Dec. 15, 1982. She was a 1971 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. Susie was a bookkeeper and a registrar for Pennsylvania. She was a member of the VFW of Jersey Shore and a member and secretary of the Fraternal Order Eagles of Jersey Shore. Susie enjoyed bookkeeping, crafts, reading and bingo. She is survived by her husband, Ron; a daughter, Misty Lea and a son, Matthew James. She was predeceased by a brother, Charlie. A celebration of Susie's life will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home Ltd., 'A Life Celebration Home,' 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

Virginia P. Confair
Virginia P. Confair, 84, of Water Street, Salladasburg, died Sunday, March 27, 2005 at ManorCare in Jersey Shore, where she was a guest for two weeks. She was born in Salladasburg Sept. 9, 1920, a daughter of Clair and Kathryn Clark Krieger. She was a 1939 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. She was married July 3, 1948 to Clyde R. Confair who survives. During World War II, she was a press operator with Avco in Williamsport. She was employed by the Jersey Shore Area School District as a cafeteria worker in Salladasburg Elementary School. Early in her life she was a Brownie and Girl Scout, and 4-H leader. She was a member of the Larry's Creek Volunteer Fire Company. She was a member of the Salladasburg Senior Citizens Club and she enjoyed piano. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Arlene Sivers of Bloomsburg; a son, Fred Confair of Pine Run; a sister, Lois J. Krieger of Pine Run; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Virginia's life celebration will begin with a visitation on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with services following at 2 p.m. Her pastor, Rev. Dale Russell, will officiate. Burial will be held at the family's convenience in Salladasburg Cemetery. Her family suggests contributions be made to the Salladasburg United Methodist Church, 366 Main St., Salladasburg, Pa. 17740.

Grace T. Wensel
Grace T. Wensel, 88, of Howard, died Monday, March 28, 2005 at Susque-View Nursing Home. Born Jan. 9, 1917 in Allenwood, she was the daughter of the late Merle and Ethel Marshall Lynn. She was married to Gregg F. Wensel Jr. on Feb. 5, 1955 in Lewisburg. He survives at home. She was a member of the Howard United Church of Christ and a social member of the Howard V.F.W. She enjoyed crafts and yard sales. Surviving are a daughter, Debra A. Ponish (husband Philip) of Howard; three grandchildren, Stacy and Jason Sheaffer of Howard and Leeann Reitmeyer on the USS Ronald Regan, San Diego, Calif.; and five great-grandchildren, Michael, Aaron, Afton, Domonique and Alexandra Grace. A son, Lee E. Reitmeyer, preceded him in death. Memorial services are 7 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005 in the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard. Rev.'s Dale Sattizahn and Marge Holland will officiate. Floyd A. 'Alvie' Miller, 87, of 87 Yale St., Antes Fort, died March 28, 2005 in Jersey Shore Hospital. Born April 28, 1917 in Farrandsville, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Mable Lane Miller. He was a 1935 graduate of Lock Haven High School and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He worked as a test pilot for Piper Aircraft. He was a member of the Lock Haven VFW, Avis American Legion and a life member of the Lock Haven Elks. Surviving are a son, Robert A. Miller of McElhattan; a daughter, Paula A. Aungst of Lock Haven; a sister, Sara Manning of Mississippi; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Arrangements are by the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home Inc., Flemington.

George Simon Jr.
George Simon Jr., 95, of Renovo, died at Bucktail Medical Center on Tuesday, March 29, 2005. He was born in Renovo on Easter Sunday, April 11, 1909, son of the late George Sr. and Helen Verez Simon. George graduated from Renovo High School in 1926. He was a life member of the First United Presbyterian Church, where he served as Clerk of Session for many years. He was the oldest living member of his church and also the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 334 of Renovo. George had a career in banking for over 50 years. He served as a clerk typist in the First National Bank of Renovo and a teller in the Citizens and Commonwealth banks in Renovo. He retired in 1977 as Assistant Vice President of Commonwealth Bank and Trust. George recalled when the bank he worked for sold steamship tickets, and he also remembered the depression of the 1930s, the initiation of the Federal Deposit Insurance Co. (FDIC) and the beginning of the Homeowners Loan Corp. He also recalled the old Liberty Bonds, the judgement notes and the beginning of the food stamp program. George served for 11 years as a member of the Renovo Jointure School Board, at least a decade as a director with the Renovo Utility Building and Loan and six years as president of the Clinton County Board of Education, during which time he was instrumental in designing the railroad overpass bridge that leads to the present-day high school and elementary school complex. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler, and lately he enjoyed crossword puzzles and phone conversations. He especially loved family time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On Sept. 2, 1933, George married Catherine M. McCarthy at St. Joseph Church rectory. She preceded him in death on April 17, 1990. Also preceding was a son, J. Patrick Simon; grandson Steven Andrew Hockenberry; and son-in-law Donald Hockenberry Sr. Surviving are his sons, George B. (Elizabeth) Simon and John Andrew Simon, daughter Grace M. Hockenberry and daughter-in-law Ann Marie Simon, all of Renovo. Nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at the First United Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Edward Graboski officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Elks services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 8:30 p.m. Memorials are requested to the Bucktail Medical Center.

Wanda Faye Karch
Wanda Faye Karch, 91, formerly of 15 W. Church St., Lock Haven, died April 7, 2005 at the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit. Born Dec. 16, 1913 in Imperial, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William and Wanetta Gibson Kearns. She married D. William Karch on Dec. 8, 1934. He preceded her in death May 1, 2000. She was a graduate of the Imperial High School and the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. She had done private duty nursing. Faye also worked at J.C. Penney and, along with her husband, owned and operated the former Mill Hall Hardware Store. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lock Haven, and had served as an officer. She was instrumental in starting the Order of Rainbow for Girls in Lock Haven. She had been active in the PTA at the Mill Hall High School and was active in school activities. She was also a member of the Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church in Mill Hall. She is survived by two sons: William D. Karch of State College and Robert C. Karch of Gaithersburg, Md.; one daughter, Bonnie F. Bryerton of Lock Haven; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services were held April 10 at 2 p.m. at the Dean K. Wetzler Jr. Funeral Home, Mill Hall, with the Rev. Kenneth G. Page officiating. Interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall. Nelson E. Newcomb
Nelson 'Newk' E. Newcomb, 70, of RD2, Lawrenceville, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005 at his home. Newk was the husband of Caroline A. (Lind) Newcomb. He was born on March 27, 1935 in Galeton, the son of Lula Newcomb. Newk retired from Corning Inc., he was a member of AFGWU Local 1000 and a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Newk is survived by his wife, Caroline, with whom he would have celebrated 52 years of marriage on Sept. 5; a son and daughter-in-law, Nelson 'Lynn' and Yvonne 'Sis' Newcomb of RD2, Tioga; two grandsons, Joshua Lynn Newcomb and Jason David (Kim) Newcomb; three great-grandchildren, Trever Lynn, Zackary David and Kevin Robert; two sisters, Virginia Kennedy and Elaine Loucks of Tioga; aunt, Eva Hurd and three uncles, Milton, Lester and Leon Newcomb. Shirley J. Baker
Shirley June Baker, 84, of 898 Herr St., Flemington, died Saturday, August 13, 2005 at the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit. She was born Dec. 13, 1920 in Mill Hall, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Orpha Harber Irvin. She married Lyman Baker on Nov. 3, 1945 who preceded her in death March 31, 1995. Shirley was a member of the Flemington First Church of Christ. She served as a regent of DAR. She enjoyed reading, needlework, her family dogs and bird watching. She graduated from the Lock Haven High School in 1938 and had worked for a period of time at AT&T in Harrisburg until she enlisted in the WAVES. She was honorably discharged from the Navy, Jan. 30, 1945 after two years of service. Mrs. Baker graduated with honors from the Lock Haven Teachers College in 1965. Shirley retired from the Keystone Central School District with 18 years of teaching at Lamar Township and Mill Hall Elementary Schools. Surviving are two daughters, Judith and her husband, Thomas Shellenberger, of Williamsport and Jane and her husband, James Abbott, of Rebersburg; one son, John and his wife, Mary Helen Baker, of Henderson, Ky.; four brothers, Leslie and his wife, Damaris Irvin, R. David and his wife, Jean Irvin, Robert and his wife, Sylvia Irvin and Carl and his wife, Ruth Irvin, all of Beech Creek; sisters, Roberta and her husband, Richard Muthler, of Castanea and Hope and her husband, Arthur Marston, of Black River, N.Y.; and four grandchildren, Anna and her husband, Matthew Radspinner, Carol and her husband, Daniel Schwanger, David and Sarah Abbott. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sheldon and Bernard Irvin. The funeral will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005 at the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Riley, Pastor of the Flemington First Church of Christ. Interment will be in the Mount Bethel Cemetery, Lamar. Hayes R. Kelley
Hayes Ross Kelley, of 2215 Roosevelt Ave., Williamsport, died at birth Aug. 13, 2005 at the Lock Haven Hospital. Surviving are his parents, Harry Ross and Heather Rene Straub Kelley; maternal grandparents, Deanna and David Straub of Avis; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Kelley, Lightstreet, and Mary Nettles, Mill Hall; maternal great-grandmothers, Jean Toner, of Jersey Shore, and Isabelle Bannon, of Renovo; and one brother, Hunter Ross Kelley of Williamsport. Ivory R. Embick
Ivory Rose Embick, baby girl of Chad M. and Amy Kemp Embick of Long Run Road, Salona, passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005 at the Williamsport Hospital. Surviving, in addition to her parents, are two brothers, Devin J. and Bradley J. Embick, at home; paternal grandparents, Traci Beltz of Beech Creek and Joseph Embick of Salona; paternal great-grandparents, Scott and Marlee Winchester of Avis; paternal great-grandparents, Paul Embick of Renovo and Chris Peters of Lock Haven; maternal grandmother, Diane Hoover of Avis and South Williamsport; and maternal great-grandparents, Joan Flynn of South Williamsport and the late Carmen (Bud) O. Flynn Sr. Also surviving are a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. Graveside funeral services for Ivory Rose Embick will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Wildwood Cemetery in Williamsport. Officiating will be the Rev. Bertha E. Ammerman
Bertha E. Ammerman, 89, of 326 Second Ave., Lock Haven, was promoted to glory Monday, Aug. 15, 2005 at the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit. She was born Nov. 19, 1915 in Monument, the daughter of the late Burns P. and Laura J. Hazzard Brown. On Oct. 27, 1934 in the Lock Haven Salvation Army Church, she married Franklin T. Ammerman who died Aug. 7,1995. She was a homemaker and the oldest member of the Lock Haven Salvation Army Church. She is survived by two daughters, Jane C. Hill and her husband, Talford, of Flemington, and Salvation Army Major Sandra Ammerman of Lebanon; two sons, Franklin T. Ammerman and his wife, Loretta, of Casper, Wyo., and Denzil E. Ammerman of Avis; one sister, Fay Kreidler of Flemington; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005 at 11 a.m., at the Lock Haven Salvation Army Church, with Major Robert Goding of the Philadelphia Headquarters officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven. Neal D. Heaton
Neal D. Heaton, 49, of Marsh Creek, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Mr. Heaton was born Sept. 25, 1955 in Lock Haven, the son of the late Melvin F. Heaton and Elaine E. Woomer Heaton of Marsh Creek. He is a 1973 graduate of Lock Haven High School and a graduate of Williamsport Area Community College. He was a tool and dye machinist, employed by A and B Tool Co., of Lock Haven. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, darts and Nascar racing. Surviving are six brothers, Glenn, Kevin, Doyle, Eugene, Murray and Wesley, all of Marsh Creek; sister-in-law, Judy and three nephews, Eric, Tyler and Luke, all of Marsh Creek; his companion, Carol Bittner, and her daughter Heidi. Also several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005 at W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard, Pa. 16841, with Rev. Kenneth D. Judy M. Jaskowak
Judy Maxine Jaskowak, 58, of Beech Creek, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005 at Lock Haven Hospital. She was born Dec. 9, 1946, the daughter of the late Charles Sr. and Jennie Maxine Aber. Mrs. Jaskowak was a homemaker. She was a member of the Monument Church of Christ where she was in the 'Helping Hands.' She did volunteer work in the schools and she enjoyed crafts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Donald Dullen Sr. Surviving are her second husband, Thomas 'Jazz' Jaskowak of Beech Creek; three daughters, Debra J. Lucas (Andy) of Blanchard, Dana J. Dullen (Earl Keith) of Beech Creek, and Darla J. Dullen (Larry Young) of Centre Hall; one step-son, Thomas Scott Jaskowak of Beech Creek; three sisters, Bonna Frazier, Linda Mitchell and Sandy Burke; three brothers, Donald, Robert and Charles Aber Jr.; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005 at the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, with Rev. Donald Fornwalt officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Leona E. Swinehart
Leona E. Swinehart, 91, of the Williamsport Home in Williamsport, formerly of Lock Haven, died August 16, 2005 at the home. Born November 30, 1913 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Blanche Rote Seybold. She was united in marriage November 26, 1933 in Lock Haven to LeRoy C. Swinehart who preceded her in death October 25, 1978. Leona had attended the First Church of Christ in Lock Haven. She was a homemaker, a loving mother and enjoyed playing bingo, flowers and gardening. Survivors include one son, Daniel LeRoy and his wife, Ethel Swinehart of McElhattan; two daughters, Viola J. (Vickie) Burnell of Jersey Shore and Linda F. and her husband, Greg Leidhecker, of Montoursville; 10 grandchildren, and a number of great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Private graveside memorial services for Leona E. Swinehart will be held on August 24, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Dunnstable Township, Clinton County. Officiating will be Rev. Troy M. Borst, Pastor of the First Church of Christ in Lock Haven. There will be no visitation. The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be accepted to the Williamsport Home through the funeral home. Joseph G. Harder
Joseph G. Harder, 59, of Corpus Christi, Texas, died Aug. 11, 2005 in Gaylord, Mich., while vacationing. He was born Jan. 25, 1946 in Louisville, Ky., the son of Joseph and Kay Harder. He was married to the former Kellie L. Smith on May 21, 1988. He was retired and was a former member of the Lock Haven Lions Club. He enjoyed golf, traveling, football, especially the Miami Dolphins, and racing. Besides his wife Kellie, he is survived by his mother and father-in-law, Yvonne and Don Smith of Jersey Shore; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lisa and Dave Lovett of Corpus Christi, Tex., and his two special nieces, Jennifer and Madison. Joe's Life Celebration will begin with a visitation on Friday, from 6 to 7 p.m., from the Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 'A Life Celebration Home,' 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with memorial services to follow at 7 p.m. Pastor John Phillips will be officiating. Helen L. James
Helen L. James, 61, of 481 W. 4th St., Lock Haven, died August 16, 2005 at her home. She was born June 28, 1944 in Lock Haven, the daughter of the late Woodrow W. and Martha Kane Probst. She was self-employed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. James Sr., who died in November of 1981. Surviving are sons, Donald L. James Jr. of Glen Rock and Ronald L. James of York; two daughters, Toni A. James of Mill Hall and Joni L. Clifford of Sterling, Va.; one brother, Thomas P. Probst of Lock Haven; two sisters, Doris E. James of Lock Haven and Elizabeth Myers of Williamsport; eight grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005 at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington, with Rev. Joyce Gensib officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday. Interment will be in Dunnstown Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susquehanna Cancer Center at Divine Providence.

Beverly A. Reighard
Beverly A. Reighard, 71, of 127 Valley View Drive, Jersey Shore, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005 at her home. Born Sept. 30, 1933 in South Williamsport, she was the daughter of Joe Ziterella and the former Eva M. Kontz. Her husband, Gary L. Reighard, survives her. They were united in marriage May 5, 1971 in Jersey Shore. For many years she was a member of the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jersey Shore. Earlier in her life she was employed by West Co. and later retired from Truck-Lite. Also surviving is a daughter, Linda L. Marshall of Houston, Texas, and a son, Barry E. Neff of Torrance, Calif.; four grandchildren, Laurie A. Wright, Shane R. Miller, Lon M. Neff and Doreen M. Neff; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Miele and Francis Caputo, both of Williamsport. Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at 1 p.m., in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from noon Friday until the time of the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. Rev. Kerry Aucker, her pastor, will officiate.

Donald E. WIlkinson
Donald E. Wilkinson, 85, of Bigler, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005 at Altoona Hospital. Born May 3, 1920 in Houtzdale, he was the son of George and Rhoda (Woodel) Wilkinson and father of Sandra Wilkinson Rishell of Mill Hall. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Bigler United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Bigler Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, and from 10 a.m. to the time of services, Saturday. Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery.

Ignatius J. Bauer Jr.
Ignatius John Bauer Jr., 76, of Renovo, died at Bucktail Medical Center, where he had resided for the past three years, on Monday, Aug. 15, 2005. John was born in Renovo on Dec. 25, 1928, the son of Ignatius John Bauer Sr. and Josephine Bochkay Bauer. He was a life member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, was a laborer for Piper Aircraft, a warehouse employee of L.L. Sterns Co., in Williamsport, and also worked as a maintenance man at the Kingsley Hotel. He was an usher at church for many years, enjoyed bowling, watching TV, music and animals. His outgoing personality endeared him to many people. John is survived by his daughter, Marie A. Bauer of Fredericksburg, Va.; his sister, Gertrude Hills of Renovo and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Theresa and a brother, William R. Bauer. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Renovo, at 11 a.m., Saturday, with Rev. Donald Boslett officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hyner. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the mass. Maxwell Funeral Home of Renovo is in charge of the arrangements.

Raymond A. Singley
Raymond Alvin Singley, 84, of 335 Oak St., Jersey Shore, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005 in the Jersey Shore Hospital. Raymond was born Aug. 20, 1920 in Schumantown, the son of Ambrose Alvin Singley and the former Helen Harger. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary H. 'Polly' Heisey. They were united in marriage on June 8, 1944 in the former Epworth United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore. In 1938 he graduated in the first 12-year class of Beaver-Main High School and later attended Bloomsburg State Teachers College. He was employed by Tidewater Oil Pipe Co. as a telegrapher at the pump stations in Schumantown, Coudersport Pike in Lycoming County and Bayone, N.J., until 1954. He retired after 31 years of service with Bell Telephone Laboratories in Murry Hill, N.J., and returned to Pennsylvania in 1989. Since returning to this area, he has served as an elder at the New Life Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Montoursville. For many years he served as president and vice-president of the Senior Citizens of Jersey Shore and was active in the Lycoming County Senior Citizens. Also surviving are two daughters, Dawn R. Zetto of Montoursville and Jean M. Nelson of Trenton, N.J.; four grandchildren, Jeremy A. Nelson of Wyoming, Abigail R. Smith of Alllentown, Bethany A. Nelson of Madison, Wis., and Sarah A. Lutz of Exton; five great-grandchildren, Leah, Katie and David Nelson, Andrew Lutz and Molly Smith; and one sister, Florence Michael of Allentown. He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Ford and a brother Ambrose Singley Jr. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 19, 2005 at the New Life Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 1500 Hidden Valley Drive, Montoursville. Friends may call from 10 a.m., Friday, until the time of services in the church. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. Pastor Paul Brone will officiate. The family asks that memorials be made in his name to WJSA Radio Station 262, Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, or to the Deacons Fund at the New Life Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.

Evelyn S. Garrett
Evelyn S. Garrett, 83, of Lock Haven, formerly of Bellefonte, died today at the SusqueView Home, Lock Haven. Arrangements are being handled by the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, Howard, and will be announced when completed.

Edward T. Fryer
Edward T. Fryer of Wytheville, Va., died April 14, 2005. Surviving are his wife, Betty Livingston Fryer; two sons, Gary and Jeannie Fryer of Warrenton, Va., and Dennis Fryer of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; one grandson, Steven Fryer of Leesburg, Va.; one grandson, Andrew Fryer of Leesburg, and one sister, Geraldine Kephart of Lock Haven.

William M. Bowes
William M. Bowes, 47 of Julian, formerly of Lock Haven, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005 at the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. He was born Sept. 4, 1957 in Lock Haven, the son of the late Paul R. Bowes Sr. and Julia Schreiber Bowes Page, who survives in Lock Haven. He was a 1975 graduate of the former Lock Haven High School. He attended Lock Haven University. He had been employed as a Campus Police Officer at Lock Haven University earlier in his life. He currently was employed as a guard with the State Correctional Institution at Rockview with the rank of Sergeant, where he has been employed for the past 26 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, biking and jogging and loved spending time at the beach. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sisters, Rosellen Law and her husband James of Norristown, Jan Janet and her husband Robert of Charlotte, N.C., and Christine McRae and her husband Wayne of Mill Hall; three brothers, Paul and his wife Bobbie of Lamar, Gerald and his wife Pam of Lock Haven and Joseph of Wet Decatur; nine nieces and nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Gay Bowman of Camp Hill. Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, with the Rev. Father Raymond Crosser officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lock Haven. Friends were received at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 8 and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association through the funeral home.
