Miriam L. Adams
MILLERSBURG - Miriam L. Adams, 82, a resident of Susquehanna Lutheran Village, formerly of 2149 Route 25, died Sunday, Aug. 1 at the village. She was the daughter of the late Nevin F. and Maude M. Phillips Henninger and was the widow of Allen A. Adams. She was a lifetime member of David's Church in Killinger where she was a former kitchen coordinator, Sunday school teacher and church choir member. She also was a past member of the former Killinger Grange. She is survived by a son, Kenneth A. Adams of Millersburg; a daughter, Wanda L. Radel of Millersburg; five grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Henninger. Funeral services were held Aug. 5 from her church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to: David's Church, 1027 Route 25, Millersburg 17061. Hoover Funeral Home in Millersburg was in charge of arrangements.

Bonita D. Whary
MILLERSBURG - Bonita D. Whary, 43, of 12 Midland Drive, died Monday, Aug. 2, at her residence. Born in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of Ronald Schrader of Dalmatia and the late Marilyn Miller Schrader. She was a secretary for the Upper Dauphin Sentinel in Millersburg and enjoyed Nascar racing. Surviving, in addition to her father, are her husband, Marlin R. Whary; a son, Marlin Jr. of Dalmatia; a sister, Kimberly Ann Schrader of Sunbury; and a brother, Lewis Schrader of Shamokin. Graveside memorial services will be held Tuesday Aug. 10 at 1 p.m. from the Liverpool Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation. Hoover Funeral Home in Millersburg is in charge of arrangements.

Ethel E. Landis
HERSHEY - Ethel E. Landis, 90, of Hershey, died Wednesday, Aug. 4 at Columbia Cottage. Born June 16, 1914 in Lower Mahanoy Twp., she was the daughter of the late William and Emma Smeltz Deppen. She was a retired employee from Hershey Chocolate Corp., and a member of First United Methodist Church in Hershey. She was the widow of Ezra I. Landis. Surviving are a daughter, Doris M. Novinger of Hershey; a sister, Pearl Bailey of Millersburg; three grand- children; four great-grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Aug. 9 from Hoover Funeral Home and Crematory in Hershey. Burial was in Hershey Cemetery. Lee K. Schadel
SACRAMENTO - Lee K. Schadel, 83, died Monday, Aug. 2 at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Pottsville. Born March 25, 1921 in Klingerstown, he was the son of the late James W. and Emma Bertha Rothermel Schadel, and was educated in the Hubley Twp. schools. He was a mold operator for AMP, Inc. in Harrisburg for 13 years, prior to retiring in 1986; and had previously worked for Chivinski Builders in Pottsville following 29 years of employment in the coal industry. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Erdman; and the Sacramento and Klingerstown Fire Companies. He also served as a former assistant scout master for the Erdman Boy Scout Troop No. 152. He was the widower of Mae E. Snyder. Surviving are four sons, Ronald of Gratz, Glen of Halifax, Bruce of Sacramento and Ricky of Erdman; a daughter, Peggy Herb of Halifax; eight grand- children; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Guy Schadel. Funeral services were held Aug. 6 from his church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Carl M. Swartz
MILLERSBURG - Carl Morris Swartz, 78, of 429 Landis Drive, died Tuesday, Aug. 3 at Harrisburg Hospital. Born Sept. 2, 1925 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Ray A. and Esther M. Morris Swartz, and was a 1943 graduate of William Penn High School in Harrisburg. He also attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg. He was a retired civil engineer for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and a member of Free Grace Brethren in Christ Church in Millersburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Betty H. Boyer Swartz; two sons, Kevin D. of Canton, Ohio, and Timothy A. of Millersburg; two daughters, Devon L. Wert and Laurie R. Schreiber, both of Millersburg; a sister, Betty J. Ryndes of Tampa, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grand- children. Funeral services were held Aug. 7 from his church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Frances D. Hoffman
DORNSIFE - Frances Dana Hoffman, 85, of 311 Spring St., Cocoa, Fla., formerly of Dornsife RR1, died Sunday, Feb. 29 at Wuesthoff Medical Center in Rockledge, Fla. Born Oct. 6, 1918 in Lower Mahanoy Twp., she was the daughter of the late Adam and Emma Jane Bingaman Dubendorf. She was a homemaker, and was of the Protestant faith. She was the widow of Robert Wade Hoffman Sr. Surviving are four daughters, June Miller of Lebanon, Doris Jaworowski of Philadelphia, Nancy Dunleavy of Cocoa, Fla., and Susan Hansen of Merritt Island, Fla.; a son, Robert W. Jr. of Dover, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and five great-grand- children. Graveside services will be held Monday, Aug. 16 at 1 p.m. at Brock Cemetery in Ashland. Stephen R. ELIZABETHVILLE - Helen L. Richards, 81, formerly of Elizabethville and Tower City, died Tuesday, Aug. 3 at Susquehanna Lutheran Village in Millersburg. Born Feb. 1, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Mason and Lottie Thompson English. She was a retired cafeteria manager from Williams Valley Junior-Senior High School, and was of the Methodist faith. She was the widow of William Richards, and also was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and William English; and a sister, Arlene Romberger. Surviving are two sons, Thomas A. of Duncanon and Kerry W. of Tower City; two sisters, Blanche Jones of Danville and Jacqueline Moretz of New York; five grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held Aug. 7 from Greenwood Cemetery in Tower City RD. Memorial donations may be made to: American Diabetes Association, PO Box 1132 Fairfax, Va. 22038. Lena C. Beers
HALIFAX - Lena C. Beers, 97, of 36 Harman Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 4 at the residence of her daughter, Emily Enders. Born July 4, 1907 in Mt. Kisco, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Ceasar T. and Catherine Vocen Dapra. She was a retired postal employee and had been the first woman postal supervisor in the city of Pittsburgh. She was a member of Our Lady's Help of Christian Church in Lykens. She was the widow of George T. Beers. Surviving, in addition to her daughter, are four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, George T. Beers. Graveside services were held Aug. 7 at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Halifax. Memorial donations may be made to: American Cancer Society, 3211 N. Front St. Suite 100, Harrisburg 17110.
