Harry J. "Pap" Wise
TOWER CITY - Harry J. "Pap" Wise, 79, of 1300 E. Grand Ave., formerly of Donaldson, died May 9 at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Sept. 23, 1925 in Reinerton, he was the son of the late Harry and Erma Carl Wise. He was a WW II Navy veteran. He was retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Loyal Order of Moose No. 1603, American Legion No. 468, all of Tower City and Orwin Fire Co. He was the widower of Joyce Hummel Wise. He also was preceded in death by sister, Gloria Evans and a brother, Charles. Surviving are a daughter, Sharon M. Tobin of Tower City; two sisters, Jane Bender of Camp Hill and Lois Stakem of Williamstown; a companion, Mae Young of Donaldson; a grandson; nieces and nephews. Services were held May 12 from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Tower City. Edna Amelia Hornberger
ADAMSDALE - Edna Amelia Hornberger, 91, formerly of Spring Glen and Schuylkill Haven, died May 9 at Brookmont Health Care Center in Effort. Born June 3, 1913 in Sacramento, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Sallie Kimmel Swartzlander. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento. She was the widower of Clayton R. Hornberger. She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray, Paul, Wayne and Ralph Swartzlander; and two sisters, Erma Shade and Florence Moyer. Surviving are a daughter, Mae Jean Grambert of East Stroudsburg RD; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services were held May 12 at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home. Mary Ellen Caffas
ELIZABETHVILLE - Mary Ellen Caffas, 55, of 225 Spruce St. died May 7 at home. Born April 20, 1950 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of Jean Nork Golden of Mountain Top and the late Joseph Golden. She was a graduate of Bloomsburg University. She was a teacher at Upper Dauphin Area School District since 1972. She was a member of Queen of Peace church in Millersburg where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She was a student council advisor, past president of the teacher's union, ABC27 News Teacher of the Year, past president of the Upper Dauphin Rotary Club, a member of the Dauphin County Library System, Student Assistance Program, Teacher Exchange Program to Australia, Foreign Exchange Student Program, NEA, a former writer for the Patriot News and Upper Dauphin Sentinel, Booster Club, Pennsylvania Adopt a Highway, and a member of the Fresh Air Fund. She was the widow of John Louis Caffas, Jr. She also was preceded in death by four sons, Matthew, Jack, Patrick and Scott; and a daughter, Patricia. Surviving are a 10 sons, Edward and Joseph of Halifax, Mike of Dalmatia, James and Jason of Lykens, Kenneth and David of Harrisburg, Mark of Calif., Rick and Shane of Elizabethville; and 10 grandchildren. Services were held May 14 at Our Lady of Help Christian Church in Lykens. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Dallas. Gail Barbara Daniels
COLUMBUS, Ga.- Gail Barbara Daniels, 64, died May 9 at Columbus Hospice House. Born April 13, 1941 in Lykens, she was the daughter of Eleanor Clark Williard of Lykens and the late Robert Williard. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and of the Windsor Park Garden Club. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Williard. Surviving are her husband of 47 years, John "Jack" Daniels; three daughters, Jackie Johnston of Columbus, Ga., Angie Jacob of Grand Forks, N.D. and Dawn Gowanloch of Newark, Calif.; a son, David Daniels of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three sisters, Dawn Aucker of Bloomsburg, Jean Hoke of Millersburg and Jill Small of Waynesboro; two brothers, Robert Williard of Montoursville and Raymond Williard of Millersburg; nine grand- children; and a great-grandchild. Services were held May 12 at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Burial was in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. George A. Shepley, Jr.
LOWER PAXTON TWP. - George A. Shepley, Jr., 84, died May 10 at the Stone Bridge Nursing Home. Born June 8, 1921 in Fisherville, he was the son of the late George A. Shepley and Esther Garverich. He was a former union carpenter with local No. 287, a member of the steel workers union, a film supervisor with DEK Electro, a building inspector for the General State Authority and a construction project employee for Dauphin County Prison. He was a member of Robert Burns Lodge F&AM No. 464, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest No. 43, the Harrisburg Consistory and the Linglestown Life United Methodist Church. He was the widower of Mary E. Shepley. Surviving are a brother, Richard Shepley of Harrisburg; and several nieces. Services were held May 12 at Hoover Funeral Homes and Crematory in Linglestown. Mark L. Hoffman
LYKENS - Mark L. Hoffman, 53, of 115 Fearnot Rd., died May 9 at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. Born Sept. 22, 1951 in Klingerstown, he was the son of the late William E. and Reba Morgan Hoffman. He attended Tri-Valley High School. He was a carpenter and was employed by Robert Koppenhaver Builder and Contracting Company of Spring Glen. He was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ of Klingerstown, the Valley Lodge No. 797 F&AM of Valley View, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Millersburg Forest No. 125, the Gratz Fire Company, Klingerstown Fire Company, the Erdman Sportsman's Association and the Mahantongo Riding Club. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Hoffman; and two brothers, David and Roy Hoffman. Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Kathy J. Wiest Hoffman; two sons, Scott Hoffman of Gratz and Nicholas Hoffman of Mechanicsburg; four sisters, Martha Wiest of Herndon RR, and Nancy Rothermel, Anna Wiest and Shirley Straub, all of the Klingerstown area; a brother, William E. Hoffman, Jr. of Klingerstown; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Services were held May 13 at Salem UCC. Burial was in Salem Cemetery. Stephen R. Frederick A. Fenzl
LYKENS - Frederick A. Fenzl, 81, died May 10 at home. He was a 1942 graduate of the former Wiconisco High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II having served in the campaigns and battles at Normady, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. Surviving are two daughters, Debra K. Biggers of Marana, Ariz. and Karen D. Wingard of Highspire; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Graveside services were held May 17 at Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco. John R. Shultz Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.

Marion Anna Romberger Troutman
HERDNON RR - Marion Anna Romberger Troutman, 75, died May 13 at Klingerstown. Born Dec. 26, 1929 in Klingerstown, she was the daughter of the late Stanley C. and Verna Mae Klinger Romberger. She attended Nobel School and was a 1947 graduate of Lower Mahanoy Twp. High School. She was retired from Creative Play Things, Herndon. She was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Klingerstown, a member of the church's supper committee, Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and participated in Sunday school activities. She also was a member of the Glen Chapter No. 425, Order of the Eastern Star, Lykens and a leader for the Mahantongo Valley Girl Scout Troop No. 71. She was preceded in death by a brother, Quentin. Surviving are her husband, Earl G. Troutman; two sons, Steve E. Troutman of Klingerstown, Glenn L. Troutman of Sunbury; a daughter, Ruby M. Michetti of Herndon RR; four brothers, Roland Romberger of Herndon RR, Lee Romberger of Dalmatia, Roy Romberger of Valatie, N.Y. and Mark Romberger of Valley View; a sister, Barbara Koppenhaver of Fisherville; and ten grandchildren. Services were held May 17 at St. Michael's Lutheran Church. Burial was in St. Michael's Lutheran Cemetery. Corrine O. S. Hoke Schade
PILLOW - Corrine O. S. Hoke Schade, 80, a resident at the Lebanon Valley Home, died May 15 at the home. Born April 22, 1925 in Pillow, she was the daughter of the late Daniel B. and Maye Wiest Hoke. She worked as a seamstress at the former Pillow shirt factory. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Berrysburg. She was the widow of James M. Schade Sr. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Norwood Hoke. Surviving are two sons, Don B. Schade of Annville and James M. Schade Jr. of Dillsburg; a sister, Erma Schlegel of Pillow; four grand- children; and a great-granddaughter. Services will be held Wednesday, May 18 at 11 a.m. at Hoover Funeral Homes in Elizabethville. The viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Pillow.

Mark R. Kocher
MILLERSBURG - Mark R. Kocher, 84, formerly of 138 Gearhart St., died May 5 at Susquehanna Lutheran Village where he resided. Born April 5, 1921, he was the son of the late Robert and Levina Martz Kocher. He was a retired machine operator at Brubaker Tool Co. in Millersburg. He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal in WW II. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Millersburg American Legion No. 326. He was the widower of Ruth Shaffer Kocher. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Ellis, Gordon and Elwood; and a sister, Celetus Carvell. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Kahler of Millersburg; three grandchildren; a step grandson; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday, May 10 at 8 p.m. at Hoover Funeral Homes in Millersburg. Viewing will be held Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg. LYKENS - Nancy Jeanne O'Neil, 53, of 190 S. Crossroads Rd., died May 5 at home. Born Sept. 17, 1951 in Newport, R.I., she was the daughter of Robert H. Potter, Sr., of Citrinella, Ala. and Dorothy L. Bailey Potter of Lykens. She was a graduate of Salem High School N.H. and attended Middlesex Community College. She worked as a secretary at Hamden Equipment in Hamden, Mass. Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie O'Neil of Aravoca, Ariz.; her fiance, Gerald L. Quesnel of East Long Meadow, Mass.; two brothers, Robert H. Potter, Jr. of Glendale, Ariz. and William F. Potter of Lykens; and four sisters, Stephanie A. Gosselin of Tallahassee, Fla., Robin L. Larkin of Lowell, Mass., Dorothy L. Gemberlin of Dalmatia and Janet M. Arachie of Aravoca, Ariz. She was a member of Central Pennsylvania Callers Association (square dancing) and the Valley's United Church of Christ in Halifax. She was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin Schaeffer. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Sunbury. She was a housewife. She was the widow of Melvin G. Pope. Surviving are a son, Melvin G. Pope, Jr. of Dillsburg; a sister, Dorothy Cover of New York; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Services were held May 10 at Reinhard Funeral Home.
