GRATZ - Hannah Catherine Williard, 81, of 801 S. Center St., died Feb. 6 at The Manor at Susquehanna Village in Millersburg. Born Feb. 17, 1924 in Hebe, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Lottie Erdman Wiest. She was a retired cutter at the former Muskin Shoe Company in Millersburg. She was of the Protestant faith. She was the widow of Fred James Williard. Surviving are two sons, Clair E. Williard of Loyalton and Dennis D. Williard of Gratz; a daughter, Wanda M. Maus of Gratz; a sister, Emma Machamer of Bellfonte; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Services were held Feb. 9 at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home. Burial was at the convenience of the family at Ft. Indiantown Gap Cemetery in Annville.

Grace I. English
TOWER CITY - Grace I. English, 92, of 1800 E. Wiconisco St., died Feb. 7 at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Pottsville. Born Feb. 2, 1914 in Tower City, she was the daughter of the late John and Ida Bohr Lemke. She was retired from the garment industry and had operated Grace English Tours. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Reinerton, a member of the Tower City Senior Center and a member of the former Reinerton Fire Co. Auxiliary. She was the widow of Richard E. English. She also was preceded in death by a son Bruce, three brothers, Raymond, Clyde and Lloyd Lemke, and two sisters, Alma Howard and Hazel Lemke. Surviving are four sons, Kenneth E. of West Grove, John L. of Myerstown, Edward J. of Florida and Dennis E. or Tower City; a sister, Blanche Bixler of Palmyra; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Services were held Feb. 13 at St. Peters Lutheran Church. Burial was at St. Peter's Cemetery in Orwin. Memorial contributions may be made to her church at: 1931 E. Wiconisco St., Tower City 17980. Ivan H. Reed
MILLERSBURG - Ivan H. Reed, 75, of 175 Rife Rd., died Feb. 9 at his residence. Born June 4, 1930 in Trevorton, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary Harris Reed. He was a retired tech sergeant with the U.S. Air Force and retired from Alvord-Polk Tool Co. in Millersburg. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Rife; VFW Post No. 5507; Steever R. Day Post No. 326 American Legion; Home Association of Millersburg; Air Force Sergeants Association in Maryland; and retired enlisted association. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Roberts. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy P. Etzweiler Reed; two daughters, Debra Beck of Duncannon and Sharon Troutman of Halifax; twin sons, Ricky Troutman of Hummelstown and Keith Troutman of Linglestown; a brother, Glenn Reed of Monroe Twp., N.J.; a sister, Linda Chubb of Millersburg; five grandchildren; and third great-grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. at Hoover Funeral Homes in Millersburg. Ralph W. Meckley
HERNDON - Ralph W. Meckley, 84, of 409 N. 3rd St., died Jan. 24 at the Harrisburg Hospital. Born Jan. 18, 1922 in Fisherville, he was the son of the late Fred and Lizzie Enders Meckley. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II. He was a retired quarry superintendent at Meckley's Limestone Products in Herndon. He was a member of Halifax United Methodist Church; a former member of the Lions Club of Herndon; and sang with the Men In Harmony. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Dick Meckley. Surviving are his wife, Doris S. Enders Meckley; two sons, Dennis Meckley of New Columbia and Scott Meckley of Millersburg; two daughters, Helen Koppenhaver of Millersburg and Brenda Swisher of Milton; three sisters, Sara Lenker of Millersburg, Mary Sweigard of Millersburg and Pauline Novinger of Halifax; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services were held Jan. 28 at Halifax United Methodist Church. Burial was at Halifax United Methodist Cemetery. ELIZABETHVILLE - Briahnna M. Gladitsch, 3 months old, of 10 E. Main St., died Feb. 6 at Hershey Medical Center. Born Nov. 1, 2005, she was the daughter of Travis Gladitsch and Tricia Lenker. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Lon Gladitsch. Surviving in addition to her parents are her maternal grandparents, Jeff and Tina Lenker of Millersburg; maternal great-grandmother, Violet Shadle of Millersburg; maternal great-grandfather, Ronald Wiest, Sr. of Lykens; paternal grand-mother, Donna Holton of Providence, R.I. and paternal great-grandparents Ed and June Wolf of Adams, Minn. Services were held Feb. 10 at Hoover Funeral Home in Millersburg. Burial was at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Halifax. Martha A. Deitrich
KLINGERSTOWN, RR - Martha A. Deitrich, 91, died Feb. 8 at the Friendly Nursing Home in Pitman. Born April 17, 1914 in Shamokin, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Edna Haas Schaeffer. She and her husband owned and operate the former Deitrich's Grocery Store in Klingerstown RR. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Pitman and had served on the Upper Mahantongo Twp. Board of Elections. She was the widow of Harry L. "Pit" Deitrich. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Charles Deitrich and Roy Deitrich and a sister, Ethel Mae Furman. Surviving are a daughter, Marion V. Cornwell of Mt. Gretna; a sister, Irene Snyder of Leck Kill; a brother, Charles Schaeffer, Jr. of Klingerstown; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services were held Feb. 13 at St. James Lutheran Church in Pitman. Burial was at Hepler's Church of God Cemetery in Pitman. MILLERSBURG Robert A. Messner, Sr., 61, of 360 Church St., died Feb. 8 at his residence. Born July 12, 1944 in Paxton, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Mildred A. Zerbe Messner. He worked as a painter for the Local No. 411 Painters Union in Harrisburg. He was a member of Masonic Susquehanna Lodge No. 364 in Millersburg. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Hawkins and a great-grandson. Surviving are his wife, Harriet L. March Messner; three sons, Rodney A. Messner of Harrisburg, Robert A. Messner, Jr. of Millersburg and Jason A. Messner of Millersburg; two daughters, Tammie E. Hardy of Gettysburg and Jill M. Klinger of Paxton; three sisters, Patty Lahr of Harrisburg; Linda Carr of Tenn. and Vickie Chronister of Enola; a brother, Paul A. HALIFAX - Samuel H. Weaver, 89, of 428 Armstrong St., died Feb. 11 at his residence. Born June 10, 1916 in Killinger, he was the son of the late Harry and Helen Matter Weaver. He was a U. S. Army veteran of W.W. II. He retired from Caterpillar tractor in York. He attended Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Church. He was preceded in death by a son, James Weaver. Surviving are his wife, Marie S. Morgan Weaver; a son, Williard of Halifax; a brother Nevin of Kissimmee, Fla.; three sisters, Dorothy Ditty of Lykens, Arlene Hoffman of Bressler, Kathryn Shepley of Millersburg; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Gratz. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will be at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Halifax. HEGINS - Cathy Ann Koons, 57, of 1158 E. Main St., died April 23 at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Nov. 9, 1948 in Ashland, she was the daughter of Betty P. Bonawitz Minnich of Valley View and the late Chester L. Minnich. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley View. She also was a member of the Hegins Fire Company. Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband of 41 years, James A. Koons, Sr.; a son, James A. Koons, Jr. of Hegins; a daughter, Jamie L. Koons of Beavertown; a brother, William E. Minnich of Valley View; and two sisters, Abbie J. Stiely and Lori L. Minnich, both of Valley View. Services were held April 29 at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home. Cruzie S. Hoffner
MILLERSBURG - Cruzie S. Hoffner, 93, of 990 Medical Road, formerly of Broad St., Elizabethville, died April 24 at the Manor at Susquehanna Village in Millersburg. Born Oct. 22, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Riley E. and Catherine Bowman Weaver. She was a retired seamstress at the former Ned Rich Shirt Factory in Elizabethville. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Elizabethville, where she a Sunday school teacher and a Women's Guild member. She also was a member of the Elizabethville Senior Citizens. She was the widow of George F. Hoffner. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Mattis; a brother, Milton Weaver, four sisters, Erma Enders, Verna Lenker, Pansy Shertzer and Hanna Shertzer; and a great-grandson. Surviving are a daughter, Rose M. Shomper of Elizabethville; a sister, Rosabella Lentz of Elizabethville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. GRATZ - Elwood E. Michael, 70, died April 24 at his residence. Born Feb. 29, 1936 in Hubley Twp., he was the son of the late Howard and Anna Lettich Michael. He was a retired truck driver at USF Red Star of Harrisburg. He was a member of Simeon's United Lutheran Church in Gratz. He also was a member of the Gratz Fire Co. and Sinnemmahoning Sports-man Club. He was the widower of his first wife, Violet Wolfe Michael. Surviving are his wife Helen Kratzer Michael; two sons, Ricky Michael of Tremont and Terry Michael of Spring Glen; two daughters, Cindy Paul of Lykens and Sandy Weaver of Pillow; a stepson, Ronald Scheib of Newport; a stepdaughter, Christy Barge of Pillow; a brother, Donald Michael of Yorkanna; 22 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services were held April 27 at Simeon's United Lutheran Church in Gratz. Burial was at Gratz Union Cemetery. ELIZABETHVILLE - Mary Eliza Wiest, 90, of The Kepler Home, formerly of Gratz, died April 23 at the home. Born June 12, 1915, she was the daughter of the late William and Katie Schoffstall Koppenhaver. She was a member of Simeon United Lutheran Church of Gratz. She also was a former member of the Gratz Senior Citizens and the Willing Workers of her church. She was the widow of Roy Wiest. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Jeanette Troutman and Nancy Wiest and a son, Bruce Wiest. Surviving are four grandchildren, Randy B. Troutman of West Cameron, Ronald B. Wiest of Columbus, Ohio, Trudy J. Troutman of Camp Hill and Pamela S. Troutman of Valley View; three step-grandchildren, David Witmer of Yorktown, Va., Robert Witmer of Bedford, N.H. and Michele Pigott of Harrisburg; six great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. HERNDON - Mary K. Romberger, 81, of RR 1, died April 25 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born Jan. 21, 1925 in Klingerstown RR, she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Rothermel Wolfgang. She was a retired factory worker from the former Dalmatia blouse factory. She was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Klingerstown. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George R. Wolfgang and William Wolfgang. Surviving are her husband, Roland R. Romberger; a son, Roland J. Romberger of Herndon RR; four daughters, Joyce Love of Schuylkill Haven, Beverly Harner of Dalmatia RR, Gail Nonnecke of Roland, Iowa and Renee Breen of Camp Hill; and seven grandchildren. Services were held April 29 at St. Michael's Lutheran Church. Burial was at St. Michael's Cemetery in Klingerstown. ALLENTOWN - Margaret A. Paul, 92, formerly of 216 Greenwood Ave., Nazareth, died April 25 at Westminster Village. Born in Leck Kill, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. Paul and Emma L. Kehler Paul Arner. She was a retired teacher in the Nazareth Area Junior High School. She was of the Methodist faith and a member of Council Partners of Coral Ridge Ministries Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. She also was a member of the Nazareth Women's Club. Surviving are numerous cousins. Services were held May 1 at the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home. Burial was at Jacob's Cemetery in Pitman. Anna Elizabeth Morgan
HEGINS - Anna Elizabeth Morgan, 93, died April 26 at Messiah Village in Mechanicsburg. Born Sept. 4, 1912 in Mt. Carmel, she was the daughter of the late Tymko and Pelagia Kusiak Huratiak. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Valley View and the Tri-Valley Senior Citizens. She was the widow of Ario A. Morgan. She also was preceded in death by three sons, three brothers, a grandson and a stepdaughter. Surviving are a son, Rev. Donald R. Morgan of New Bloomfield; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Services were held April 29 at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Valley View. ELIZABETHTOWN - Jeff A. Nauman, 21, died April 26 from injuries sustained in a car accident. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Sterling C. Nauman and the late Lisa M. Wiest Nauman. He was a forklift operator. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 329 in Elizabethtown. He loved cars. Surviving in addition to his father was a sister, Alicia R. Nauman; an aunt, Michelle Hoffer, an uncle, Thomas Hoffer and a cousin, Justin Hoffer, of Hummelstown, with whom he lived; maternal grandparents, Willard "Sonny" and Diane Wiest of Lykens; and paternal grandparents, Sterling R. and Shirley Nauman of Elizabethtown. Services were held April 29 at Miller/Sekely Funeral Services. Burial was at Mount Tunnel Cemetery in Elizabethtown.

William E. Hand, Jr.
WILLIAMSTOWN - William E. Hand, Jr., 51, of 209 W. Market St., died April 28 at his home. Born in Pottsville, he was the son of the late William Sr. and Margaret Nolen Hand. He was employed by Metal Industries in Millersburg. He was of the Methodist faith and a social member of the Williamstown American Legion Post No. 239. Surviving are his wife, Kathy J. Lubold Hand; a daughter, Lisa A. Miller of Tower City; two sons, Eric W. Hand, stationed with the U.S. Army in Georgia and Tristan C. Hoffman, at home; a brother, Timothy L. Hand of Valley View; and two granddaughters, Kalista and Kamryn Miller. Services were held May 2 from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home in Tower City. Born March 6, 1922 in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Helen Cronin Enders. She was a retired seamstress at Dalmatia Blouse. She was a member Halifax United Methodist Church and the church organist and pianist at area churches. She was the widow of Ralph W. Meckley. Surviving are two sons, Dennis Meckley of New Columbia and Scott Meckley of Millersburg; two daughters, Helen Koppenhaver of Millersburg and Brenda Swisher of Milton; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services were held May 1 at the Halifax United Methodist Church. Burial was at Halifax United Methodist Cemetery. Reinhard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
