POWELLS VALLEY - Wesley D. "Danny" Elmer, 75, of Powells Valley, formerly of Lower Paxton Twp., died Sunday, March 28 at Holy Spirit Hospital. He was a retired patrolman from the Harrisburg City Police Department and a Dauphin County security guard. He also worked as a security officer for Weis Markets and Harrisburg Hospital. He was a U. S. Army veteran and was active in local Republican party politics. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church; Capital City Lodge Fraternal Order of Police; Dauphin County Volunteer Fireman's Association; Cumberland Valley Fireman's Association and Millersburg and Lykens Senior Citizen groups. In addition, he was an honorary member of the Pennsylvania Sheriff's Association. He was the widower of Ann M. Barlek Elmer, his wife of 42 years. Surviving are two daughters, Betty Ann Petroski of Middle Paxton Twp. and Jenny L. Thomas of Lower Paxton Twp.; his companion, Judith March of Powells Valley; and three grandsons. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 31 from his church. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 North Progress Ave., Suite 202, Harrisburg 17110; or American Heart Association, Capital Region, 1517 Cedar Cliff Drive, Camp Hill 17011. James D. Ebright
MILLERSBURG - James D. "Smokey" Ebright, 76, of 412 Chestnut St., died Monday, March 29 at Harrisburg Hospital. Born in Millersburg, he was the son of the late George and Mary Zurick Ebright. He was a retired night watchman for the former Kinney Shoe factory in Millersburg and a member of the Moose Lodge No. 59; American Legion No. 326; VFW Post No. 5507; Tri-Valley Bowling League; and Moose Sunday Bowling League. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are a companion, Henrietta Lahr; a son, Robert of Lauderhill, Fla.; a step-son, Rick Shoop of Millersburg; a sister, Mary Klinger of Millersburg; and a granddaughter. Memorial services were held April 2 from Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc. in Millersburg. Burial with military honors was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Millersburg VFW Post No. 5507 Project Fund, 3622 Route 147, Millersburg 17061.

Edna M. Saul
NEWPORT - Edna M. Saul, 90, of Juniata Twp., died Thursday, March 25 at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill. Born April 16, 1913 in Steelton, she was the daughter of the late David and Sarah Houdeshel Evans. She was a graduate of Polyclinic Nurses Training School and a member of Polyclinic Alumni Association. She was a retired registered nurse and private duty nurse, and also worked for Dr. J. Collier Bolton. She was a former instructor for Tri-Chem liquid embroidery and also served as a former girl scout leader. She was a member of Church of Christ in Newport. She was the widow of Stanley Saul and also was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Orris Gordon. Surviving are a son, Eldon Joseph Saul of Halifax; six grandchildren, and 10 great-grand- children. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 17 at 10 a.m. from Myers Funeral Home in Newport. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Pearl E. Maurer
HEGINS - Pearl Elnora Maurer, 89, of 81 Deep Creek Rd., died Sunday, March 28 at Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville. Born Feb. 13, 1915 in Weishample, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Maude Kessler Klinger and was a 1933 graduate of the former Hegins Twp. High School. She was a retired seamstress from the former Philmark Manufacturing in Valley View and also operated the family farm along with her late husband. She was a member of Church of God in Valley View and Tri-Valley Senior Citizens. She was the widow of Clarence Maurer and also was preceded in death by a son, Richard; five brothers, Allen, Gurney, Stanley, Calvin and Clair Klinger; and three sisters, Irene Ludwig, Laura Kissinger and Dora Ebert. Surviving are two sons, Ronald of Corning, N.Y. and Roger of Lancaster; a daughter, Susan Englebert of Elverson; a sister, Verna Shuey of Mt. Joy; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 1 from her church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home in Valley View was in charge of arrangements.

Howard H. Hoke
MILLERSBURG - Howard H. "Peanut" Hoke, 72, a resident at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, died Wednesday March 31 at the village. Born in Millersburg, he was the son of the late Daniel and Cora Snody Hoke. He was retired from the former Muskin Shoe factory in Millersburg and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Russell and Daniel; and two sisters, Dee Dee Bucher and Betty Hoke. Surviving are a brother, William of Elizabethville; and five sisters, Delphia Enders, Sarah Feidt, Mabel Graff, Carrie Buffington and Dorothy Hoke, all of Millersburg. Funeral services were held April 5 from Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc. in Millersburg. Burial with military honors was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg. Memorial donations may be made to Millersburg Fire Company, PO Box 151, Millersburg 17061; or Millersburg Ambulance Association, PO Box 72.

Mabel C. Zettlemoyer
MILLERSBURG - Mabel C. Zettlemoyer, 90, of the Church of God Home in Carlisle, formerly of the Millersburg area, died Thursday, April 1 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. Born in Lykens, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Laura Keefer Harner. She retired as a clerk from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Duncannon; Duncannon Senior Citizens; and Golden Agers. Surviving are three daughters, Gail Smith of Duncannon, Yvonne Durham of Enola, and Pam Moore of Dillsburg; a brother, Robert Harner of Millersburg; two sisters, Virginia Harner and Nancy Hoffman, both of Millersburg; five grand- children; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 6 at 2 p.m. from Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc. in Millersburg. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg. Viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m., at the funeral home, prior to services. Memorial donations may be made to her church, at 115 Church St., Duncannon 17020; or Church of God Home, 801 N. Hanover St., Carlisle 17013.

Gladys E. Nace
DALMATIA - Gladys E. Nace, 95, a resident at the Polk Apartments, formerly of Dalmatia, died Saturday, April 3 at Susquehanna Lutheran Village in Millersburg. Born in Hickory Corners, she was the daughter of the late William Schwartz Schaeffer and Lerie Calvarus Long Schaeffer, and was a 1925 graduate of the former Dalmatia High School. She received her teaching certificate from Millersville Normal School in 1927; a bachelor's degree from Penn State in 1940 and a master's degree from Millersville University in 1972. She retired in 1974 after 40 years of teaching at several schools including: Reitz School in Dornsife, Dalmatia Grammar School, Lower Mahanoy Twp. Grammar School, Mahanoy Joint and Line Mountain High School and Line Mountain library system. She was a life member of the Trinity Lutheran and Re-formed Church in Dalmatia where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the Dalmatia Historical Society and a renowned local historian and guest speaker to senior citizens groups. She was the widow of Marlin E. "Jack" Nace, and also was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Mark Schaeffer; and a sister, Esther Hoffman. Surviving are a son, Bill of Millersburg; a daughter, Mary Hoover of Williamstown; a sister, Irene Wommer of Millersburg; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday, April 7 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ in Dalmatia. Burial will be in Dalmatia Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc. in Millersburg, and Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Rev. Howard J. Lodge
GLOUCESTER, Mass. - The Rev. Howard J. Lodge, 90, died Sunday, March 28 at his home. Born Feb. 3, 1914 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Howard and Pauline Eberhart Lodge. He was educated in the Philadelphia public school system and was a graduate of the Philadelphia Biblical University. He has resided in Gloucester since 1947. He founded the Calvary Chapel Baptist Church in Gloucester and later the Faith Christian School. He continued to preach into his late 80's. He also served as director of the Christian Mission to churchless communities. As part of his ministry, he led teams to Philadelphia and Boston rescue shelters. In addition, he served as a past president of the Christian Endeavor in Pennsylvania. He spent time writing music and playing his musical saw, while accompanied by his wife. He also coached in the Gloucester Little League for several years. He was the widower of the Marian M. Scheaffer Lodge and also was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Scheaffer and Dorothy Lodge; and a grandson. Surviving are two daughters, Marian Smitheman of Feasterville and Susan Nowasielski of Wilmington, Del.; three sons, Howard Jr. and Donald Lodge, both of Gloucester, and James Lodge of Elizabethville; a sister, Ruth Belz of Philadelphia; two brothers, Edward Scheaffer of King of Prussia and Richard Scheaffer of Ardsley; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 1 from Calvary Chapel Baptist Church in Gloucester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Gideon's International, PO Box 62, Millersburg 17061. Pike-Grondin Funeral Home in Gloucester was in charge of arrangements.

Arlene R. Miller
HALIFAX - Arlene R. Miller, 82, a resident at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, formerly of the Halifax area, died Thursday, April 1 at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late George and Susan Lebo Rummel. She was retired from Willits shoe factory in Halifax. She was the widow of Glenn Miller, and also was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Bailey. Surviving are a step-daughter, Glenda Risch of Racine, Wis.; and a granddaughter. Services were held April 6 from Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc. in Millersburg. Burial will be in Jacob's United Methodist Cemetery in Halifax R.D. John D. Hinderliter
MILLERSBURG - John D. Hinderliter, 76, of 13 Sliding Lane, formerly of South Fork, died Thursday, April 1 at Harrisburg Hospital. Born in Williamsburg, he was the son of the late William and Mary Wirick Hinderliter. He retired from Bethlehem Steel and was a member of the South Fork VFW. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Donna J. Gindlesperger Hinderliter; two sons, Brian of South Fork and Robert of Ashland, Ky.; a daughter, Patricia Chiamtella of Leesburg, Va.; two step-sons, Robert Eppley of Boise, Idaho and Thomas Klock of Brandon, Fla.; a step-daughter, Patricia Wiebner of Millersburg; eight grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. Memorial services were held April 5 from Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc. in Millersburg.

Irene E. Alvord
LYKENS - Irene E. Alvord, 87, formerly of Wiconisco, died Wednesday, March 31 at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill. Born June 15, 1916 in Wiconisco, she was the daughter of the late Gurney and Josephine Kolva Knorr and was a graduate of the former Lykens High School. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Wiconisco where she taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. She was the widow of Edgar G. Alvord and also was preceded in death by a son, Robert; four brothers, Gurney, James, Walter and Raymond; and three sisters, Margaret Knorr, Dolly Whitmore and Ina Lou McNalis. Surviving are a daughter, Margaret Calnon of Lykens; two sons, John Alvord of Williamstown and Terry Alvord of Arizona; a step-sister, Marlene Wiest of Lykens; two step-brothers, Lester Enterline of Camp Hill and Russell Enterline of Carsonville; two half-sisters, Carol Mattern of Elizabethville and Joyce Clark of Klingerstown; eight grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 3 from her church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, PO Box 320, Wiconisco 17097. John R.
