Raymond E. "Sonny" Black
Blairsville native served in Korean War, enjoyed antique cars and country music. Raymond E. 'Sonny" Black 74 died at his home in Indian Falls N.Y. on Monday Aug. 8, 2005 after a long illness. Mr Black was born in Blairsville on Oct. 1, 1930. He was the son of the late Leonard and Florence Crawford Black, both of the Blairsville area.He was a Korean War veteran and was a long-time member of the Newstead VFW in Akron N. Y. He was a dedicated antique car enthusiast and was a big fan of bluegrass and old time country music and played guitar, mandolin and fiddle himself. His wife of 44 years, Charlotte Ellsworth Black died in 2003. A son Raymond Jay Black died in 1959. He also was predeceased by a sister, Jean (2003) and a brother-in-law Lloyd Henderson (2001) of New Florence. He is survived by his four children; Anita Voss of Mooresville N. C. and Carolyn (Aaron) Swable, Gary (Amy) Black and Cliff (Michelle) Black all of Corfu; Also surviving are four grandsons, Paul, Wayne, and Brandon Black and Eugene Besok all of Corfu; three sisters, Betty Redilla of Blairsville, Virginia (James) Laskey of Elba, N. Y. and Lenora Durham of Batavia N. Y. and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Leona 'Norie' Durham
Devout Jehovah's Witness resided in New York, was born in New Florence. Leona 'Norie' Black Durham 60 a devoted Jehovah's Witness, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, died Tuesday Aug. 30, 2005 at her Batavia, N.Y. home. She was born Sept. 1, 1944 in New Florence, a daughter of Leonard and Florence Crawford Black. Survivors include three daughters, Tami and husband Terry Bischoff of Basom, N.Y., Justin and husband Roy Brendlinger of Joesphine, Marcy and husband Bruce Prentice Jr. of Batavia, N.Y.; a son Scott of Basom, N.Y. Also 10 grandchildren, David, Billy, Terry Jr., Adreann, Kalen, Matthew, Joshua, katlyn, Bruce III, and Jordan; Great- grandchildren Payton and Ayden; sister Betty Redilla, Blairsville and Virginia and husband James Laskey, Elba, N.Y. ; many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Tina Durham and sister of the late Jean and Raymond 'Sonny' Black. Services were held at C.B. Beach and Son Mortuary in Corfu, N.Y.

FLORENCE BORING
Florence Marie Boring, 94, of Robinson died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at St. Andrew's Village in Indiana. She was born Dec. 18, 1906 in Strongstown she was a daughter of Abraham L. and Martha A. Timmeney Boring. Mrs. Boring was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church in Robinson, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Duane Boring VFW Post 9310 in Robinson and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Surviving relatives include a son, Charles Boring and wife Mary Ellen Forgas of Sun City, Ariz.; two grandchildren Sharon and Keith; four great-grandchildren; Michelle, Jason, Jarrod, and Jordan; two great-great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Daniel; and two sisters; Alberta Donahue of Robinson and Sylvia Kennison of Smithfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick L. Boring; three brothers: Duane, Michael and Earl Boring; and five sisters: Beatrice Gibson, Marybelle Lear, Pauline Leary, Grace Howsare, and Hilda Rodkey. Friends will be received Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home in New Florence, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m.. The Rev. Winfred Michael Boring, 77, of Box 71, Robinson died Sunday April 29, 1979 at Mercy Hospital Johnstown.
Mr. Boring was born Jan. 10, 1902 in Crabtree a son of the late Abraham L and Martha (Timmeney) Boring. He was a former employee of Johnstown Association for the Blind and a member of Free Methodist Church of Robinson. Mr. Boring was preceded in death by brothers, Earl and Duane. He is survive by these sisters; Mrs. Beatrice Gibson of Bolivar; Mrs. Mary Belle Lear of Robinson; Mrs. Florence Boring of Robinson; Mrs. Pauline Leary of New Florence RD 2; Mrs. Alberta Donahue of Robinson; Mrs. Sylvia Kennison of Smithfield; Mrs. Grace Howsare of Bedford; and Mrs. Hilda Rodkey of Nanty Glo; and nephews, Raymond Boring of Blairsville RD 4 and John Ellsworth of Xenia, Ohio. Funeral services were held today, Wednesday at the Free Methodist Church, Robinson, with the Rev. Howard Houston officiating. Arrangements by Kenneth A Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence. Burial followed in the Bethel Cemetery.

Harold A Boring, 76, of New Florence RD 2 died Sunday Dec. 13, 1987 at Lee Hospital, Johnstown. He was born Feb. 16, 1911 in Josephine, Indiana County, a son of the late Isaac and Margaret (Cochran) Boring. He was a World War II veteran. He was a member of Bolivar Post 128 American Legion and a retired employee of Pennsylvania Electric Co. Seward Generating Station. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Agnes (Leary) Boring, who died in 1984, two grandchildren and a brother and sister. He is survived by the following children: Harold E. of New Florence RD1; Louise (Mrs. Bernard) Waterhouse of Seward; Gladys (Mrs. Paul) Shetler, Arnold, and Amy (Mrs. Amos) Critchfield, all of New Florence RD 2, Shirley Ann (Mrs. Terry) Stiffey of Bolivar, and Janet (Mrs. Harry) McGinnis of Armagh RD 1; 29 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Kermit of New Florence RD2, and Lester of Seward. BORING - Mrs. Mary Ann, 74, New Florence RD 2 died Dec. 28, 1978 at Lee Hospital, Born Sept. 23, 1904 in West Wheatfield Twp. daughter of the late Ralph and Anna (Baird) Boring. Preceded in death by sisters, Stella Hoffman, Flora McIntire, and Mervilla Closson; brothers William, Emanuel, Wilbert and Glenn and daughter Virginia Shomo. Survived by husband Merit E and these grandchildren; Sharon Baker, Seward RD 1; Charles Shomo, Windber; and Sally, New Florence RD 2 also four great-grandchildren. Oscar M. Boring
Oscar M. Boring, 61, of Ligonier RD 2, died Monday Feb. 24, 1997. He was born Sept. 9, 1935 in Seward, a son of Lloyd S Boring of New Florence RD 1 and the late Emma Jane Penrose Boring. Before his retirement, he had been employed as an electrician by Teledyne Allvac in Latrobe. In his spare time he shared his love of the outdoors with his family by engaging in camping, fishing, and hunting with them. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cora Hess. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 42 years, Roseann Benito Boring; three daughters, Rosalyn (Mrs. James) Gamble of Donegal, Shelly Silk of Youngwood, and Wendy (Mrs. Robert) Shaulis of Youngstown; Four sons, Oscar R. and his wife, Teresa Boring of Bolivar RD 1, Daniel A Boring of New Florence RD 1, Patrick J. and his wife, Tammy Boring of Blairsville RD 3 , and Robert P. Boring of Slippery Rock; 10 grandchildren; a great granddaughter; a sister, Alberta Hepner of Jamesville, Md; and two brothers, Lewis S and Leroy S. Boring, both of New Florence RD 1. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at the J. Paul McCracken Funeral Home Inc., Ligonier, with the Rev. Bertha H. Hironimus officiating. Interment was private.

Merit E., 92, New Florence RD 2 died June 17, 1993 in New Alexandria, Pa. son of late Oliver and Katy (Smith) Boring. Gregory Allen, 23, of Burton, S.C. formerly of New Florence RD 2 died March 24, 1996 as a result of a house fire in Burton. Born May 4, 1972 in Indiana, son of Ronald and Sandra (Brambaugh) Boring. Survived by father, Ronald and wife Linda Good, New Florence RD 2, mother Sandra, wife of Thomas Fisher, Dayton, PA. Brother of Rick, Daytona Beach, Fla; Vickie Boring, Indiana; Russell, US Marine Corps, Hawaii; niece, Kara Lawson, Veteran of US Marine Corps. MARY CATHERINE BORING
Retired from Laurel Valley Elementary School, she is survived by her brother. Mary Catherine Boring 69 of Bolivar died Sept. 28, 2004 at UPMC Lee Regional. Born June 28, 1935 in Johnstown, she was the daughter of late Sherman B. and Mary Ellen (Muir) Boring. Mrs. Boring was a retired employee of Ligonier Valley School District, Laurel Valley Elementary School also having worked in the Bolivar and Marker buildings. She is survived by a brother, Ronald Boring, married to Linda Webster, Homer City; also several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends A grave site service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Fairfield Cemetery, with Jack Prentice officiating. Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral home, New Florence, was in charge of the arrangements.

Roy C. Boring, 90, of New Florence died Saturday March 3, 1984 at Mercy Hospital, Altoona. Mr. Boring was born Jan. 6, 1894 in West Wheatfield Twp., Indiana County, son of James and Anna Frain Boring. He was a World War I veteran, and a member of Duane Boring VFW Post 9310, Robinson, and Hood-Vanatt American Legion Post 307, New Florence. Survivors include children Hazel Eckman, Avonmore, Marie Spack, Leona Yeager and Herbert, all of New Florence, James, Robinson and Chester, Albion, N.Y.; 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Brendlinger, Ridgway; Also surviving are two brothers, Seward and Kenneth both of New Florence RD 2. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; a son, Homer; daughters Delnora Baker and Doris Baird; three brothers and two sisters. Services were held Wednesday at Kenneth A. Emma M., 84 Ligonier formerly of Robinson died Jan. 12, 2002 at Bethlen Home, Ligonier. Born April 8, 1917 in Johnstown, daughter of late Bert and Rebecca (Henderson) Fisher. Preceded in death by husband, C. Clark Boring, who died in 1978; brothers, Ray, Tom, Burl,and Bert Fisher; sisters Annabelle Fisher and Phyllis Howard; and grandson, Cullen Cottrel. Survived by son, Dr. Wayne (Shirley) Boring, Nacogdoches, Texas; daughters, Susan Cottrell, Lancaster; and Mrs. Lee (Janet) Henderson, New Florence; brothers, Harry (Lurley) Fisher, Hollsopple; and Joseph (Jean) Fisher, Johnstown; sister, Irene Lawhead, New Florence; grandchildren, Wayne, Brad and Richard Boring and Tricia Betz; and great grandchildren, Richard Boring and Katie Betz. Emma was the oldest member of Bolivar Presbyterian Church, where she served as secretary-treasurer and was a member of the Women's Missionary Circle. She was the original dispatcher for the Tri-Community Ambulance Service. For many years she was a crossing guard for New Florence Elementary School and was a member of Laurel Valley Senior Citizens.Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at J. Paul McCracken Funeral Chapel, Bolivar. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bolivar Presbyterian Church, the Rev. G. Sherman Ott. Burial, West Fairfield Cemetery, New Florence. Vinnie Jane (Mrs. James T.) Boring, 88, of New Florence RD 2 died Monday May 31, 1993 at Conemaugh Hospital, Johnstown. She was born Sept. 5, 1904 in West Wheatfield Twp. , Indiana county, a daughter of the late Leslie Earl and Susan (Lichtenfels) Penrose. She was a member of Germany United Methodist Church and Laurel Valley Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her Husband James T. Boring in 1966 a son Robert Dean; an infant son; grandsons, Kenneth Boring, Raymond Dennis Gregovich and a great grandson Jeremy Boujon. She is survived by the following sons and daughters. JUNE LOUISE SHORT NIXON
Fairfield Township native survived by husband, three children, seven grands June Louise Nixon 67 of Robinson died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999 at Lee Hospital Johnstown. Mrs. Nixon was born June 13, 1931 in Fairfield Township Westmoreland County daughter of the late Philip and Hazel I Eales Short. She was the last surviving member of her family. Surviving are her husband E. Ray Nixon and three children. Timothy and his wife Anna Jane of Ridgecrest, Calif., Fred and his wife Deborah of Armaugh RD 1, and Tina Potochniak, Blairsville; seven grandchildren and a great-grand daughter. Her brothers Thomas and Harry and her sisters Margaret Henderson, Florence McMahon and Rebecca Howard preceded her in death. Services were held Thursday at Kenneth Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence, with Rev. Allyn Giuffre officiating. Interment followed in Mount Tabor Cemetery of Westfield Township.

RICHARD A. BAIRD
Two daughters, four grandchildren survive West Bolivar church member. Richard A. Baird 46 of Bolivar RD 1 died Thursday June 20, 1996 at the home of his sister Belinda Betts. Mr. Baird was born Feb. 5, 1950 in Bolivar, son of Robert P. Baird, Bolivar and the late Beatrice Gibson Baird. He was a member of the Community Bible Church of West Bolivar. Surviving besides his father are daughters Mrs. Roland (Crystal) Baldwin, New Florence RD 2 and Mrs. Joseph (Corinne) Beisweidt, Spartansburg, S.C.; grandchildren Damon, Devon, Kylie and Hayden; numerous nieces and nephews; Also surviving are seven brothers and sisters, Roger Punxsutawney, Belinda Betts, Robert P Jr., Randy Rodney and his wife the former Cindy Fritz and Clark, Bolivar, and Keith and his wife the former Brenda Turley of New Florence RD 2. He is survived by his wife Lillian (Rossman) Baird, and these Children; Margaret Lichtenfels of Robinson; Irene Lawson of Indiana; Andrew of Bolivar RD; Frances Randolph of Josephine; Aaron of Bolivar RD; Edward of Magnolia, Miss.; Albert of New Florence RD; Marlene Crusan of Bolivar RD; Danny of New Florence RD; Donna Shirley of Black Lick; Rebecca Ehause of Kittanning; and Brenda Shirley of Blairsville RD; Also 39 grandchildren. He was a brother of Harry "Perry", Thomas, Russell, Clark, Walter, Charles and Robert all of Bolivar RD, and Martha McClairn of Johnstown. Funeral services were held Sunday at Community Bible Church, West Bolivar with the Rev. Samuel Astolos officiating. Arrangement by Edward J. Speidel Funeral Home, Bolivar. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.

MRS. DOLLY D. BAIRD
BAIRD, Mrs. Dolly D., 51 West Bolivar, died at 8:25 p.m. Jan. 27, 1964 at Latrobe Hospital. Born Dec. 30, 1912 in Saltsburg, daughter of Charles and Elsie (Dunmire) Johns. Survived by husband David L and these children: David Jr., Bolivar; Charles F., Ligonier RD 1, and Samuel L , Bolivar; also 7 grandchildren. Sister of Florence, Michigan; Mrs. Lucy Flegger, Samuel and Lloyd all of Saltsburg, and Orville, California. Friends received after 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kenneth A Stuart Funeral Home; New Florence, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, the Rev. William Green. Interment Germany Lutheran Cemetery.

Baird - Ernest A., 52, Bolivar, died Oct. 25, 2004 at UPMC Lee Regional. Born March 6, 1952 in Johnstown, the son of the late Charles and Doris (Boring) Baird. Also preceded in death by Aunt, Georgetta Baird, and granddaughter, Page Alexis Rigby. Survived by wife, Donna (Bedker) Baird; daughters Dyan, wife of William Rigby, Robinson; Lisa, wife of Justin Johnson, Goldsboro, N.C.; Alison Baird, and fiance, Russell Penrose, Bolivar; grandson Joseph Clark Johnson; brother Ivan, married to Rene Hood, New Florence; sister, Pam, wife of Ty Blackard, Clinton, Ark, Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Kenneth A Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. GEORGE L. BAIRD
Latrobe Steel retiree, Army War Vet member of Bolivar American Legion. George L. Baird, 75, Bolivar RD 1, died Tuesday July 29 2003 at Select Specialty Hospital Johnstown. Born Nov. 13 1927 in Fairfield Twp., son of George and Annie Boring Baird, he retired from Latrobe Steel after 38 years. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and member of Charles Sutton American Legion Post 128, Bolivar. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Blair, Merle, and Art and sisters Anna Grace Licktenfelt, Catherine Muir and Helen Henderson. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Florence E. (Crusan) Baird. Also sons Wayne and his wife Cynthia and Randy and his wife Janet, all of Bolivar RD 1; daughters Shelia Sowers and her husband Ken, Bolivar RD 1 and Pam Lichtenfel and her husband Chuck, Robinson; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; Also his brother Don, Blairsville RD 1 his sister Leona Enck, New Florence. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Paster Norman Kaufman officiating. Interment will be in Fort Palmer Cemetery with graveside rites by local veteran's organizations.

CHARLES F. BAIRD
Charles F. Baird, 64 of, Bolivar RD 1, died Friday April 2, 1993 at Conemaugh Hospital, Johnstown. He was born March 22, 1929 in Fairfield Twp. A son of the late William and Amelia (Clark) Baird. He was a retired employee of Allegheny Foundry Bolivar. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Mae (Boring) Baird on May 14, 1976; and brothers Harry "Perry", Russell, Clark, John and Thomas Baird. He is survived by two sons, Ernest A. of Robinson and Ivan C. of New Florence RD 1: a daughter, Pamela Quick of Robinson; eight grandchildren, Tammy Short, Rita and Amanda Quick, Dyan, Lisa, Alison, Jeromine and Nicholas Baird; two brothers, Walter and Robert Baird, both of Bolivar RD 1; and a sister Martha "Sis" McClarren of Johnstown. Friends were received at the Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence, where service was held Tuesday with Elder Gene Jones officiating. Burial was in Bolivar Westview Cemetery.

Susiemma 'Susie' Baird, 76, Bolivar, died May 19, at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 14, 1927 in Robinson West Wheatfield Twp. she was daughter of late Andrew Blair and Mervilla (Boring) Closson. Her death ends a marriage of 57 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. a member of First Church of Christ, West Bolivar, she worked for many years at Clark's Garage in West Bolivar. She also was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Charles Clark and brothers Glenn Closson and Merle and Jay Penrose. Survivors include her husband Walter J., daughter Linda, wife of Bob Stull, Bolivar; Also grandchildren Dr. Joseph and wife Becky Clark, Colorado Springs, Colo, Cindy wife of Rob Adams, Virginia Beach, Va. and Zachary Stull, Bolivar; great grandchildren Amanda, Alex, Elizabeth, Rachel, and Sarah Clark, and Charlynn and Bailee Adams; sisters Jean Ludwig, Anna and Pearl all of New Florence; brother Cecil Penrose, Ohio. Friends will be received from 10 to 10:30 a.m. today at First Church of Christ, West Bolivar where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Evangelist Jack Prentice officiating. Interment will follow in Germany Lutheran Cemetery.
