LEWISTOWN - Paul A. Ganoe Jr., 60, of Apt. 507 Bugard Apts., Chestnut St., Lewistown, died Dec. 14, 2002 at his residence. Born April 13, 1942, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Paul A. and Talytha (Rosenberg) Ganoe Sr. Surviving are: three children, Christopher Ganoe, Burnham, Beth Kuhn, New Egypt, NJ, and Hope Bratton, State College; and four grandchildren. He was an electrical engineer at Xerox, Rochester,NY. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Lewistown High School in 1960. He graduated from Penn State University in 1964. He was a member of Mifflin County Sportsman's Club. His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown with Rev. Karen McCachren officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. A viewing will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Pauline Esther Gayman
THOMPSONTOWN - Pauline Esther Gayman, 80, of 55 E. Main St., Thompsontown, died at 4:30 p.m., Monday, April 8, 2002, at the Zendt Home, Richfield. Her funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday from the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Mills, with the Rev. Maureen A. Wagner officiating. BURNHAM - Rita L. Geibel, 53, of 210 3rd Ave., Burnham, died at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born March 4, 1949, in Pottstown, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence V. and Rose C. (Gregorzewicz) Grimm. Her husband, John C. Geibel, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Christopher (Kristen) Zylstra, Norcross, GA, and Jonathan L. Geibel, at home; a brother and sister, Lawrence M. and Kathleen Grimm, Millsboro, DE, and Mrs. John (Dorothy) Malukas, Pottstown; and a niece, Mrs. William (Rosemary) Singleton. She was a graduate of Saint Pious X, Pottstown, received a bachelor of science in education at Millersville University and also received a master of education equivalency at Penn State University. She taught elementary school for the Mifflin County School District for 30 years, teaching primarily at Buchanan Elementary School. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, was active with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, was active with and past president of the Indian Valley Band Boosters and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Thomas Marickovic officiating. Interment will be Birch Hill Cemetery. GRANVILLE - Helen M. "Dolly" George, 70, of N. River Road, Granville, died at 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at her residence. Born Nov. 23, 1931, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Patrick Britt. Her mother, Kathryn Heyrman of Lewistown and her husband, William A. George, whom she married in 1972, survive. Also surviving are: children, Jacalyn M. Patton of Burnham, Michael and James S. Patton, both of Lewistown; step-children, Mrs. Charles (Christine) Watts of Lewistown, Mrs. Bryan (Lisa) Watts of Chesapeake, VA and Mrs. Denny (Julie) Whitsel of Granville; half-brother, Patrick Britt of Lewistown; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Mowery. She was employed at the Arrow Shirt Factory and retired in 1994 from Scotties Fashions. She was a life member of the City Fire, Fame Fire and Brooklyn & Junction fire companies. Evelyn F. 'Eve' Gibboney
YEAGERTOWN - Evelyn F. "Eve" Gibboney, 84, of 20 S. Locke Ave., Yeagertown, died at 6:27 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born April 14, 1918, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Wray H. and Maude Helen (Baylett) Fink. Her husband, John H. "Hal" Gibboney, whom she married Oct. 27, 1942, survives. Also surviving are two siblings, Ruby Mills of Port Maltida and Mrs. Lou (Marion) Slota of Rineysville, KY. and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers. She was a homemaker. In her early life she was employed as a secretary at PA Glass Sand Corporation for 14 years. She was a member of Ellen Chapel Church. She was a former member of the Lewistown Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with Pastor Mark Hill and Rev. Dean Rupe officiating. John H. 'Hal' Gibboney
YEAGERTOWN - John H. "Hal" Gibboney, 87, of 20 S. Locke Ave., Yeagertown, died at 1:20 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at Altoona General Hospital. Born Jan. 26, 1915, in Yeagertown, he was the son of the late James K. and Mabel M. (Yeager) Gibboney. His wife, Evelyn "Eve" (Fink) Gibboney, preceded him in death on Aug. 19, 2002. Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Ruby Mills of Port Matilda and Marion Slota of Rineyville, KY; and many nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. He was a graduate of Yeagertown High School. He was a self-employed merchant. He served in the National Guard and the U.S. Army. He was a member of Ellen Chapel Church, F&AM 203, Lewistown, and Fort Granville Grange, 1902. Ermyl E. Gibson
THOMPSONTOWN - Ermyl E. Gibson, 74, of Thompsontown RR 1, formerly of Gilbert, AZ, died at 8:09 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001 at his home. Born Oct. 17, 1927, in Johnstown, he was a son of the late Isaac C. and Lillian (Fetterman) Gibson. His wife, Janet D. (Miller) Gibson, whom he married May 26, 1989, survives. Also surviving are two children, Richard Gibson, Mifflintown, and Robyn Gibson, Thompsontown RR 1; and four grandchildren. He graduated from Somerset High School in Somerset. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed by the AFSCME as a business agent until his retirement on Oct. 17, 2001. He attended Grace Covenant Church, Thompsontown. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The McAlisterville chapel of the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.

Helen L. Gilbert
BELLEVILLE - Helen L. Gilbert, 77, of A-107 Valley View Terrace, Belleville, died at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born March 18, 1925, in Centre Hall, she was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Margretta (Tressler) Miller. Her husband, James T. Gilbert, whom she married July 4, 1942, survives at home. Surviving are: children, Luaine Attick, Reedsville and James R. Gilbert, Lewisburg; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. She was an Avon Representative for 33 years. She was a member of White Memorial United Church of Christ. A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Dean Bobb officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. John E. Gill
MIFFLINTOWN - John E. Gill, 78, of Mifflintown, died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002 at Select Specialty Hospital, Camp Hill. Born May 6, 1923 in McVeytown, he was a son of the late William and Margaret (Gearhart) Gill. His wife, Mrs. Mildred B. (Shehan) Gill, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Rodney L. Gill, Mifflintown; two sisters, Clara Coombs, Nampa, ID, and Rosabelle Bingaman, Cotter, AR; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army having served at Pearl Harbor. He was an over the road truckdriver for 35 years, and was last employed by Jay Fulkroad and Sons Inc., Oakland Mills, on the road crew. He was a member of the Locust Run United Methodist Church, and Tennis Lodge #371 F&AM, Thompsontown. He was an avid outdoorsman. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown, with the Rev. Maureen A. Wagner officiating. LEWISTOWN - Mary E. Gill, 59, of 132 1/2 South Main Street, Apt. A., Lewistown, died at 12:51 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 28, 2002, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Feb. 24, 1943, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Jake Knepper and Violet Powell, adopted by the late Clair and Edith Lockett. Surviving are: three children, Mrs. Steven (Edy) Myers, Lewistown, Mrs. Russell (Janet) Harshbarger, McVeytown, Dawn Benner, Lewistown; seven siblings, Mrs. John (Leona) Weakland, Woodburn, OR, Roy Lockett, Rhododendron, OR, Clair "Sonny" Lockett, Lewistown, Mrs. Mervin (Janet) Secrist, McVeytown, Harold "Howie" Lockett, Lewistown, Mrs. Donald (Eileen) Irvin, Mifflintown, Michael Griffith, Yeagertown; and six grandchildren. She was a laborer for various area companies, and retired in 1980 due to disability. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. William Fritz Gilson
BALTIMORE, MD - William Fritz Gilson, 48, of Baltimore, MD and formerly of Mechanicsburg, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, in Baltimore, MD. Born July 27, 1954, in Harrisburg, he was a son of John I. and Jesse (Shellenberger) Gilson of Mechanicsburg. Surviving are: three daughters, Hannah M. Gilson, Lauren W. Gilson and Jessie W. Gilson, all at home; and one sister, Mrs. Stephen (Pamela) Gilson Kelley, Coral Springs, FL. A 1972 graduate of the Harrisburg Academy, he attended Williams College, Williamstown, MA and was a self-employed contractor. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg. MIFFLINTOWN - Lloyd S. Gingrich, 90, of Brookline Terrace, Mifflintown, died at 3:44 am Wednesday, June 12, 2002, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. Born April 18, 1912 in Walker Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Charles B. and Arena May (Leyder) Gingrich. His wife, Ruth L. (Book) Gingrich died on July 5, 1992. Surviving are children: Elda M. Flood, Mifflintown RR 4, Ethel A. Keefer, Maxton, NC, Miriam I. Keefer, Millersburg RD1, Marvin L. Gingrich, Orangeburg, SC, Blain H. Gingrich, Wilmington, DE, Harold L. Gingrich, Millersburg, Dorothy Cross, Harrogate, England, 1 sister, Emma Jane Van Horn, Port Royal, 21grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was a very active member of Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church where he formerly served as a caretaker and a deacon. He was a carpenter and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading. Services will be held at 11 am Monday at Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church, Mifflintown RR 4 with the Rev. Kenneth Letner and Rev. Eugene Heidler officiating. LEWISTOWN - Raymond C. Glace, 87, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, and formerly of 609 Highland Ave., Lewistown, died at 3:52 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn. Born Aug. 4, 1914 in Mifflin County, he was raised by the late John and Vinie Hunley. Surviving are: children, C. Ronald Glace, 341 Holiday Lane, Lewistown, and Patricia Lingle, Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. He retired from FMC Division of American Viscose Corp. in 1972 and was employed at Scotty's Fasions for 10 years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church and UCT Council #591. Vernon A. Glick
OAKLAND MILLS - Vernon A. Glick, 82, of HCR-63, Oakland Mills, died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC-67, Mifflin. Born May 15, 1920, in Union Township, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Amos and Mattie (Esch) Glick. His wife, Dorothy R. (Yoder) Glick, whom he married Nov. 22, 1941, survives. Also surviving are are two sons, Allen R. Glick of RR1, Mifflintown and James V. Glick of HC-63, Mifflintown; a daughter, Darlis A. (Glick) Richardson of RR2, Thompsontown; a sister, Ida Kanagy of Belleville; seven grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, one step-grandson, eight great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. He was a member of Living Water Christian Fellowship, Mifflin and was active as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent, Bible School superintendent and a Prophecy student at Lost Creek Mennonite Church, Oakland Mills. He enjoyed studying Prophecy, hunting and writing, especially poetry, his autobiography and about Prophecy. He retired as a custodian from Stop 35 Inc., Mifflintown. Prior to that he has worked at Zimmie's Diner, Mifflintown, as a dishwasher, and worked most of his life as self-employed dairy farmer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lost Creek Mennonite Church, Oakland Mills, with Rev. Gary L. Krabill officiating and David Weaver and Rev. Warren Peachey assisting. Interment will be in Lost Creek Mennonite Cemetery, Oakland Mills. Born Nov. 10, 1920, in Victor, NY, he was the son of the late Fred G. and Helen (Garling) Goers. He was married for 30 years to B. Jane (Peachey) Goers. He was a member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Belleville, Radio Control Aeronautics Club in Belleville and Huntington, Stroup Alexander VFW, Belleville, and was a volunteer with Mennonite Disaster Service. Herbert C. Goodling, 73, of Thompsontown RR2, died at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2002 in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. Born Nov. 3, 1928 in Richfield, he was a son of Ida F. (Swartz) Goodling of Valley View Terrace, Belleville and of the late George H. "Hilly" Goodling. His wife, Dorothy (Sheerer) Goodling, whom he married Jan. 23, 1954, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Joette Yocum and her husband, Randy, of Mifflintown RR2, a son, Daniel L. Goodling and his wife, Susan, of Deltona, Florida, a brother, Kenneth E. Goodling and his wife, Dorothea, of Lewistown, and three grandchildren, Jennifer Yocum and Luke and Dana Goodling. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold E. Goodling. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a long distance truck driver, retiring from Kaplan Trucking. He was a member of Locust Run United Methodist Church, Tennis Lodge F&AM, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon. Born Aug. 23, 1916, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Emroe and Fannie Jane (Yetter) Gilbert. Her husband, Wilson A. Goss Sr., preceded her in death April 28, 1999. Surviving are: children, Wilson A. Goss Jr., Reedsville, Leroy J. Goss Sr., Milroy, Robert L. Goss, McVeytown, John K. Goss Sr., Lewistown, and Mark E. Goss, McVeytown; half sisters, Virginia Deamer, Burnham, and Charlotte Bingaman, Harrisburg, and a half brother, Lehman Delano Gilbert, Burnham; 19 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Allen Eugene Goss on April 13, 1958, two grandsons, Gary Lee Goss and Kevin E. LEWISTOWN - Florence M. Goss, 85, of 196 South Main Street, Lewistown, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday Sept. 7, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare William Penn. Born Aug. 10, 1917, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Warren B. and Florence (Espigh) Wilkey. Her husband, Harold N. Goss preceded her in death in 1969. Surviving are: two daughters, Karen S. Bigelow, Oceanside, CA, Mrs. William (Sharon) Page, Big Ridge Road, Lewistown; two sisters, Mary W. Jacobs, S. Walnut St., Burnham, Martha E. Moore, Lawler Place, Lewistown; and a grandson, Jason Page. She was preceded in death by a son and a grandson. Early in life she was employed at American Viscose, then as a custodian for Mifflin County School District for 9 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lewistown, the Gleaner's Sunday School Class, and the A.C.T.U Retirees Club. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey D. McCleary officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. A viewing will be from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family will provide all flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 111 E. Third St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Gerald A. Goss
RICHFIELD - Gerald A. Goss, 66, of The Zendt Home, Richfield, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at the nursing home, where he had been a resident for the past 14 years. Born Dec. 7, 1935, in Spring Township, Snyder County, he was a son of Robert S. Goss of RR2 McClure and the late E. Pauline (Fultz) Goss. He was raised by his grandmother, the late Annie M. Fultz. Also surviving are: sisters, Arla Mae Renninger, RR2 McClure, Phyllis A. Goss, Beaver Springs, and Mary L. Ettinger, RR2 McClure; a half-brother, Robert S. Goss Jr., RR1 Beaver Springs; step-mother, H. Arlene Goss, RR2 McClure, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. His service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, with Rev. Dennis Mallonee, Rev. Liane Wagner and Rev. Clyde B. Singh officiating. Interment will be in Black Oak Ridge Cemetery, RR2 McClure. Friends may call at the funeral home 4-9 p.m. Sunday where the family will be present 7-9 p.m.
