David D. Davis Sr., 69, of 2333 Penn St., Harrisburg, died Wednesday at home. Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Thomas and Helen O'Connell Davis. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a retired welder for Mack Trucks, Middletown. He was a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, Harrisburg. Surviving are his wife, the former A. Yvonne Plank; a son, David D. Jr., Harrisburg; three daughters, Janet Shuttlesworth, Lykens, Judy Cirillo, Harrisburg, and Aimee Stockdale, Camp Hill; three granchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church by the Rev. Paul Shuda. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Edward Stensky, 84, of Cross Key Manor, Lehigh Acres, Fla., formerly of Quakertown, died Friday at the manor. Born in Mahanoy City, he was a son of the late Joseph and Magdelena Grobowsky Stensky. Before retiring, he was last employed as a precision grinder at Landeko Co., Fort Washington. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Mahanoy City, and Eagles Social Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Marion Rhoades, in 1996; a sister, Lillian. Surviving are two sisters, Ann Brehm, Denver, and Margaret Deardorff, Daytona Beach, Fla.; a half-sister, Isabelle, California; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Jean M. Woodford, 406 Jones St., Minersville, died Thursday at the home of a son, Robert, in Knoxville, Tenn. Born in Buck Run, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Quinn Lewis. She lived in Minersville most of her life. She was a retired bookkeeper at Radzievich Markets, Minersville. She was a member of English Lutheran Church, Minersville. Her husband, Robert, died in 1979. Surviving, in addition to her son, are two others sons, Wayne, Charlotte, N.C. and Gary, Hong Kong; two grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday from Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home, Minersville. The Rev. Paul A. Schaediger will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Peace Cemetery, Branch Township.

John Richardson Jr.
John Richardson Jr., 65, of Endwell, N.Y., died Friday at Wilson Memorial Hospital. He was a son of the late Johnand Anna Richardson. He was a retired Air Force veteran with 20 years service. He was a retired meteorologist with the National Weather Service, Broome County Airport, N.Y., with 17 years of service. He was a part-time employed of O.T.B., Johnson City, N.Y. He was a member and lector at St. Joseph's Church, Endicott, N.Y.; member of Elks Lodge, Endicott, Broome County Democratic organizations. He was co-founder of Papa Bear's Bakery, Binghamton, N.Y. Surviving are his wife, Margaret, to whom he was married 43 years; two sons, Wayne, Endicott, and Michael, Spencerport, N.Y.; three sisters, Betty Niedzwieski, Frackville, Rosemarie Suslavage, King of Prussia, and Vivian Sonokus, Pocono; a brother, James, Dover, Del.; an aunt and uncle; several nieces and nephews. Kathleen C. McGinley
Kathleen C. McGinley, 37, of 1424 Walnut St., Ashland, died unexpectedly Friday at her home. Born in Ashland, April 8, 1960, she was a daughter of Hazel Oestreich McGinley, Ashland, the late Joseph McGinley. She was a 1978 graduate of Cardinal Brennan High School and a 1982 graduate of Bloomsburg University. She was an instructionl support coordinator at Tri-Valley School District. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Ashland. Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a sister, Ruth Ann Smith, Baldwin, Md.; three brothers, Joseph "Jody" McGinley and Michael McGinley, both of Ashland, and Timothy McGinley, RD1 Ashland; a friend, William Savitsky; nieces and nephews. Leo W. Kline, 69, of 519 Howard St., Frackville, died unexpectedly Thursday at his home. Born in Plymouth, he was ason of the late Walter and Mae Schappel Kline. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired in 1984 from Dana Corp., Reading. He was of the Protestant faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary J. Gannon, in 1964; two sons, Leo, in 1978; and Walter, in 1990; a daughter, Mary Patricia Brosius, in 1982. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara C. Blackwell, Frackville; two brothers, Thomas Finnegan, Mount Pocono, and William Finnegan, Johnson City, N.Y.; two sisters, Elizabeth Hutcheson, Endicott, N.Y., and Gertrude McComsey, Chester; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Born in Shamokin, he was a son of Robert David Yurkiewicz, with whom he resided, and Karen Novak Yablonski, Shamokin. He was a 1992 graduate of Mount Carmel Area Junior-Senior High School. He was of the Catholic faith. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are sister, Brenda Yurkiewicz, Mount Carmel; a brother, Paul, Coal Township, Northumberland County; a stepbrother, Brian Yablonski, Coal Township; an aunt, Christine Yurkiewicz, with whom he also resided; paternal grandfather, Stanley Yurkiewicz, Mount Carmel; maternal grandparents, Leonard and Alberta Kurpell, New Boston; maternal great-grandmother, Violet Feudale, Kulpmont; a niece; aunts and uncles; cousins. Russell Frederick. Knock, 80, of Drexel Hill, died May 19 at the home of a daughter, Patricia Currie, East Pikeland, where he lived. Born in Ashland, he was a son of the late William C. and Mary Brown Knock. He retired in 1974 from Budd Co., Philadelphia, where he worked for 37 years as a truck and limousine driver. He was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Ashland; Drexel Swim Club, where he was on the board of governors; St. Bernadettes Senior Citizens, Drexel Hill; and United Auto Workers Union Local 813. His wife, the former Marion D. Grady, died in 1994. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Ann Currie, Kimberton; a brother, Robert H., Mount Carmel; four grandchildren. Sally C. Blackton, 95, of Pottsville, died Thursday at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. Born in Cumbola, Nov. 13, 1901, she was a daughter of the late George and Catherine Brudnick Merenshaw. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Sr., in 1973; a brother, John Merenshaw; a sister, Frances Mereshaw; a granddaughter, Nancy Cassar. Surviving are two sons, John E. Thelma M. Singley, 85, of Orwigsburg Manor, formerly of Cressona and Drehersville, died Friday at the manor. Born in Cressona, July 1, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Ida Leonard Wike. She was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, McKeansburg; a 50-year member of Cressona Eastern Star, Chapter 367; past president of Cressona American Legion Post Auxiliary. Her husband, Charles, died in 1984. She was the last member of her immediate family. Surviving are two daughters, Lois De Vries, Naples, Fla., and Skip Wessner, Drehersville; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Thomas J. Dillon, 81, of 212 Market St., Tamaqua, died Friday at home. Born in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late Thomas and Jeanette Tonkin Dillon. He was retired from Bethlehem Mines. He was a member of St. Jerome's Catholic Church, Tamaqua; Father Henry W. Baker Knights of Columbus 2711, Tamaqua, where he served 23 years as financial secretary and three years as Grand Knight; was a Past District Deputy for five years; a member of Schuylkill Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and served as Faithful Navigator from 1991-92. Surviving are his wife, the former Cecilia O'Gorman, to whom he was married 56 years on June 19; two sons, Thomas, Walnutport, and Joseph, RD2 Tamaqua; a daughter, Anne Bragassa, Miami; a brother, Michael, Tamaqua; a sister, Jenna Zucuskie, Tamaqua; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. William C. Krysak
William C. Krysak, 79, of Bristol Township, Bucks County, died Thursday at Statesman Nursing Center, Levittown. Born in Allentown and raisedin Saint Clair, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary Jadeyck Krysak. He lived in Bristol Township for 44 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was retired from Pomeroy's Department Store where he worked for 40 years in the Levittown, Willingboro and Delaware stores as a furniture adjuster. He also worked for Sears, Roebuck & Co. He was a founding and charter member of St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, Bristol Township, its Holy Name Society; was a Fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph the Worker Council 4215; a member of the St. John Neumann Society; and American Legion Post. He was preceded in death by a brother, John. Surviving are his wife, the former Verna J. Metrovka; two sons, Michael J., Matthews, N.C., and William R., Levittown; a daughter, Patricia A. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, Hazleton, and Lutheran Church Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1985; three brothers, Thomas, Andrew and Michael Wargo; three sisters, Mary Vayda, Elizabeth Junas and Helen Sachs. Aurelia E. Zietsch, 94, of Allentown, died Friday in Kirkland Village, Bethlehem. Born in Allentown in 1902, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Catherine Epp Zietsch. She worked for 47 years in the office of the superintendent for the Allentown School District, beginning in 1920. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Allentown. She was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Bruno G. Zietsch. Surviving are a sister, Irene A. Post, Pottsville; a niece; three nephews; nine great-great nieces and nephews. He was employed at the former Griffith Ladder Co., Auburn, and Ost & Ost, Pottsville. He was a member of Hose, Hook and Ladder Fire Company No. 1, Pine Grove. Surviving are a brother, Kenneth, Thomastown; four sisters, Mary Morgan, Williamstown, Sonia Sherman, Gratz, Donna Ohnmacht, Tremont, and Sandra Angeny, Ambler; cousins; nieces and nephews. Grace I. Studlack, 76, of Tremont Health & Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Donaldson, died Friday at the center. Born in Donaldson, Aug. 27, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Harrison and Irene Boyd Mack. She was employed as a factory worker in Donaldson for many years and formerly was a secretary at Fort Indiantown Gap. She was a member of the Donaldson United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew, in 1988; and a brother, Francis Mack. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Barnhart, Donaldson; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He was a Navy veteran, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked as a meat cutter for several area markets including Marchalonis', Kuberts and Hanrahans, all of Mahanoy City. He was a member of St. Canicus Church, life member of the Disabled American Veterans and member of American Association of Retired Persons. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, the former Margaret Derrish, in 1996; four brothers, Albert, Anthony, John and Victor; a sister, Catherine Marchalonis. He was the last member of his immediate family. Surviving are two sons, John, Mahanoy City, and George, Hatboro; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Annette Burke Sica, of Toms River, N.J., died Monday at Riddle Village, Lima. She was born in Lost Creek. She lived in Philadelphia before moving to Toms River in 1946. She was a retired secretary at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Philadelphia, and a secretary to the assistant director and secretary for Seca Industries, Toms River. She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Toms River, and its Rosary Altar Society and Sodality. In the early 1960s, she was a fund raiser for Deborah Hospital and Community Memorial Hospital, Toms River area. Surviving are two sons, Alfred J. Jr., Toms River, and Lawrence P., Media; a daughter, Mary Bosacco, St. David; a sister, Patricia Bartram, Chadds Ford; six grandchildren. Mae A. Gerhard, 79, of Quakake Road, RR1 Weatherly, died Tuesday morning at home. Born in Weatherly, May 15, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Eva Manbeck Kleppinger. She was a member and financial secretary of Salem United Church of Christ, Weatherly, was treasurer of the Women's Bible class, a former Sunday school teacher and a member of its Able Quilters. She was a secretary for Weatherly Foundry and served as Packer Township tax collector. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Peter Filbert, in 1950, and her second husband, Foster H. Gerhard, in 1987. Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia Hendicks, RR1 Weatherly; a son, Daniel Gerhard, RR1 Weatherly; two brothers, Eugene Kleppinger, Dublin, Ohio, and Roy Kleppinger, Weatherly; a sister, Ruth Vack, Weatherly; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews; relatives in southern Schuylkill County.
