Frank O. Fearer, 92, formerly of Rogersville, died Monday, October 5, 1998, in Country Club Center Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. He was born April 1, 1906, in Listonburg, Somerset County, a son of Arthur and Etta Myrtle McClintock Fearer. He resided in Jefferson and Waynesburg for several years before moving to Rogersville in 1960. He moved to Ohio in May 1998. Mr. Fearer was a member of Rogersville United Methodist Church. He was employed as a laborer with Republic Steel's Clyde Mine for more than 40 years prior to retiring in 1967. He was a member of United Mine Workers Local 688 and the National Rifle Association. On May 10, 1933, he married Effie Marie Crago, who died August 22, 1985. Surviving are two sons, Ernest D. Fearer of Medina, Ohio, and Ronald L. Fearer of Mt. Vernon; two grandsons, Brian D. and Kevin L. Fearer; a brother, Robert Fearer of Litchfield, Ohio; four sisters, Ardis Headlee of Waynesburg, Ethelyn Mitchell of Akron, Ohio, Esther Sams of Findlay, Ohio, and Delores Cox of Jefferson; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are three brothers, Darwin, Edwin and William Fearer; and two sisters, Geraldine Fearer and Willo Byers.

Rose Russo Foil
Homemaker's life revolved around family and church
Rose Russo Foil, 87, a resident of Cherry Tree Personal Care Home, formerly of 435 Addison Street, Washington, died at 3:50 a.m. Monday, October, 5, 1998, in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness. She was born September 8, 1911, in Page, W.Va., a daughter of Anthony and Theresa Marasco Russo. She spent her youth in Piney Fork, Ohio, and most of her life as a resident of Washington. Mrs. Foil was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Christian Church of North America. Her life revolved around her family and her church. On July 14, 1931, she married Frank Foil, who died August 10, 1983. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann Bunner of Washington; a sister, Mary Donato of Spokane, Wash.; four grandchildren, Debra Bunner Flickinger, Denise Bunner LaSota, Jeffrey Bunner and Matthew Bunner; and eight great-grandchildren. Deceased are three sisters, Julia Zambell, Jeanette Lobis and Anna Russo; and four brothers, John Russo, Sam Russo, Louis Russo and Gennaro Russo.

Joseph J. Lucciola Sr.
Usher at St. Patrick's for 35 years
Joseph J. Lucciola Sr., 83, of Canonsburg, died Sunday, October 4, 1998, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born December 28, 1914, in Castel Fort, Italy, a son of Enrico and Antonia Vecchio Lucciola, and was a longtime resident of Canonsburg. Mr. Lucciola was a member of St. Patrick Worship Site of St. Patrick Parish, Canonsburg, where he was a member of the Catholic Men's Club, ushering for 35 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific Theater. Mr. Lucciola was employed by Mayview State Hospital. He was a volunteer for Canonsburg Food Bank since its beginning and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsubrg. On June 26, 1938, in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg, he married Sue M. Pallaria, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann Amic of Canonsburg; a son Joseph J. Lucciola Jr. of Muse; four brothers, Patsy Lucciola of Library, John and Dominick of Canonsburg and Anthony Lucciola of Houston; a sister Jean Insana of Washington; six grandchildren, Bob and Paul Amic, Paulette Carpenter, Amy Collins, Todd and Melissa Lucciola; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy J. Meider, 59, of McMurray, died Sunday, October 4, 1998, at her home, following a lengthy illness. She was born September 3, 1939, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Homer D. and Arlene Eckert Low. Mrs. Meider was a member of Center Presbyterian Church of McMurray and the Eastern Star. Surviving are her husband, Blaine P. Meider; a daughter, Dana Ailes of McMurray; a grandson, Aaron Ailes; and a sister, Arlene Grogan of Bethel Park.

Hoon of the state of Washington; a daughter, JoLee Hyslop of Monongahela; and four grandchildren. Deceased are her husband, Jack Mitchell, and a brother, William McCallister.

Mary B. Moore, 94, of McMurray Hills Manor, formerly of Springfield Avenue, Washington, died unexpectedly at 8:05 p.m. Sunday, October 4, 1998, in Washington Hospital. She was born June 19, 1904, in Piney Ford, Ohio, a daughter of Paul and Bertha Henchen Gubanish. Mrs. Moore was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church, Washington. She was a homemaker and had been employed for more than 10 years by Washington Steel Corp. She enjoyed playing bingo and gardening. On September 1, 1928, she married Harold E. Moore Sr., who died March 16, 1966. Surviving are a son, Harold E. Moore Jr. of Washington; a daughter, Norma Jean Widmer of Bridgeville; five grandchildren, Gary Moore, Susan Price and Gregory, Douglas and Jeffrey Widmer; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. Deceased are three brothers, Paul Jr., John and Michael Gubanish; and three sisters, Betty Burri, Julia Yevins and Katherine Wuchenich.

Marie E. Parente, 77, of Bridgeville, died Sunday, October 4, 1998, in Allegheny University Hospitals-Canonsburg. She was born June 19, 1921, in Sykesville, a daughter of Anthony and Rose Murdock. Mrs. Parente was a homemaker and had been a cook at the former Plaza Restaurant in Bridgeville. She was a member of St. Agatha Church of the Holy Child Parish, Bridgeville. On September 27, 1952, she married Joseph Parente, who died May 13, 1997. Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Wholey of Greentree and Michele Parente of Bridgeville; and a brother, Frank Murdock of Sykesville. Deceased are two brothers, Joseph and Jerome Murdock.

Joan E. Wilson, 67, of 121 Center Street, Ridgway, died Sunday, October 4, 1998, in St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born January 1, 1931, in Johnsonburg, a daughter of Alfred and Mable Sellers Steudler. Mrs. Wilson lived most of her life in Johnsonburg and Washington, and resided in Ridgway for the last 18 months. She was a 1950 graduate of Johnsonburg High School and was a member of First Baptist Church in Johnsonburg. She worked for several years as a laboratory technician in Washington. Surviving are two sons, David Wilson of Utica, N.Y., and James Wilson of Grampian; two daughters, Marjorie Wilson and Myra Marsh of Ridgway; and a stepson, Donald Wilson of Charlotte, N.C.; three brothers, Richard of Ridgway, Ronald of Johnsonburg and Gerald Steudler of Wilcox; three sisters, Ann King of Johnsonburg, Majorie Wortman of St. Marys and Marian O'Knefski of Ridgway; five granddaughters, Sarah, Laura and Rachel Wilson and Barbara and Billie Jo Marsh; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, John Wilson, died December 9, 1993.

Viola B. Yohe, 88, of Monongahela, died Monday, October 5, 1998, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was born May 3, 1910, in New Eagle, a daughter of Charles and Missouri Keefer Fike. Mrs. Yohe was a member of First Baptist Church in Monongahela. She was a volunteer at Monongahela Memorial Hospital in New Eagle for more than 20 years and was a member of the Monongahela Senior Citizens Center and a charter member of the Monongahela AARP. Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Shaw of Monongahela; two grandchildren, Sherry L. Ford and Judy K. Hall; a great-grandson; and a sister, Dolly Dorance of Las Vegas, Nev. Deceased are her husband, Carlson G. Yohe; a sister, Agnes Soukup; and two brothers, Irvin and Harold Fike.

Florence Patricia O'Neil Yohe, 70, of Dry Run Road, Monongahela, died Friday, October 23, 1998, at her home. She was born August 8, 1928, in Monongahela, a daughter of James T. and Augusta M. Hiersoux O'Neil. Mrs. Yohe was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, where she was a licensed layman, Eucharistic minister, Sunday school teacher, choir director for 30 years and a member of its women's group. She served on the vestry and was a District 10 representative to the Episcopal annual conventions. She formerly had worked at the McCrory's store in Monongahela. She was a member of West Newton Community Choir and a former member of Monongahela Women's Club. Surviving is her husband, Paul Voelker Yohe, with whom she celebrated 45 years of marriage on July 3. Also surviving are a daughter, Paula Yohe of Rockingham, N.C.; two sons, William Yohe of Monongahela and Robert Yohe, at home; two grandchildren, Catherine Marie and William Charles Yohe; four sisters, Martha Ranc of Monongahela, Mary Burdzynski of Donora, Margie Boyd of Richmond, Va., and Myra Smith of Latrobe. Deceased are two sisters, Leanora Hagmeir and Catherine O'Neil; and four brothers, James, Charles, Adolph and William O'Neil.

William D. Anderson
U.S. Army Veteran of World War II
William Donald "Whitey" Anderson, 76, of 1880 West Chestnut Street, Washington, formerly of Lawrence, died at 5:26 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 1998, in Washington Hospital, following a lengthy illness. He was born February 25, 1922, in Lawrence, a son of William S. Parker and Maude Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a welder for National Annealing Box Co. He also worked at Mayview State Hospital and later he operated Anderson Office Cleaning Services in Lawrence. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific, and he was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. On June 6, 1969, he married Ruth Lenora Meneely Snyder, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Sandra L. Ghrist of Spring, Texas; three sons, William T. Anderson of Metairie, La., Donald E. Anderson of Washington and James B. Anderson of Mountain Home, Ark.; two stepsons, David L. Snyder of Lawrence and Dennis J. Snyder of Canonsburg; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Deceased are two sisters, Anna Mae Wolf and Emma Bice; and a brother, Floyd James Simpson, who died in infancy.

Goldie Ellen Filbey, 89, of Jefferson, died Monday, October 5, 1998, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg. She was born September 8, 1909, in Ruff Creek, a daughter of Washington L. and Martha Helt Dunn. Mrs. Filbey was a homemaker who lived her entire life in the Waynesburg and Jefferson areas. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ruff Creek. On December 7, 1956, she married J. Raymond Filbey, who survives. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Edward Allan, William Gary, Richard Lynn, Clarence Edward Jr. and Charles Barry Zollars, Barbara Diana Taylor-Wahter, Karen Sue Heidinger, Deborah Ellen Arnold and Cathy Michelle Rudisill; nine great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Blanche Iams of Front Royal, Va. Deceased is her daughter, Betty Jean Dunn Zollars; four sisters, Levina Shirk, Bessie Gibson, Ruth Moon and Hazel McElhaney; and four brothers, Harry, Jesse, Frank and Glenn Dunn.

Edward J. Vlcek, 84, of Finleyville, died Tuesday, October 6, 1998, in Allegheny University Hospitals-Canonsburg. Born September 12, 1914, in Donora, he was a son of Adam and Barbara Miklosh Vlcek. Mr. Vlcek had worked at the Zinc Works of U.S. Steel Corp. in Donroa until it closed. He then worked as a lathe operator at Quality Millworks Inc., Finleyville. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Rices Landing American Legion, the Slovak Club of Donora and St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church of Finleyville. Surviving are his wife, Helen Milesky Vleck; a daughter, Sandy Corcoran of Finleyville; five brothers, John, of the state of California; Andy and Mike of Florida; Joe of Fisher Heights and Steve of Carmichaels; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A son, James M. Vlcek, died January 24, 1990.

Mary Yancosek, 85, of Washington, died Tuesday, October 6, 1998, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington. She was born April 20, 1913, in Manifold, a daughter of John and Rose Elchak Yancosek. Miss Yancosek was employed for more than 40 years as a sales clerk and floor manager at G. C. Murphy Co. in Washington. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Washington. Surviving are two brothers, Clement Yancosek of Washington and George Yancosek of Englewood, N.J.; a sister, Rose Gersna of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, Frank, Joseph, John and Adam Yancosek; and a sister, Mary Yancosek.

Harold Bowser Sr.

Harold Bowser Sr., 69, of Macedonia, Ohio, died Tuesday, October 6, 1998, in Sagamore Ambulatory Care Center, Sagamore Hills, Ohio. He was born March 19, 1929, in Carmichaels, a son of John and Bertha Helmick Bowser. Mr. Bowser retired as a maintenance supervisor for Independent Towel Supply Co., where he was employed for 21 years. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Helen King Bowser; four children, Harold Bowser Jr. of Mantua, Ohio, Bryan Bowser of Orlando, Fla., Gregory Bowser of Shalerville, Ohio, and Barry Bowser of Freedom, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Gregory Shane, Courtney and Adrianna Bowser. Deceased are two brothers, John Jr. and Harry Bowser.

Helen Boles Coleman

Helen Boles Coleman of McKinley Avenue, Washington, died at 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 1998, in Washington Hospital. She was a daughter of John A. and Isa Danley Boles. Mrs. Coleman was a member of Church of the Covenant. She was a 1932 graduate of Washington High School and graduated from Slippery Rock College in 1934 and California University in 1952. Mrs. Coleman was a teacher for 41 years, teaching in Burgettstown Area School District for 14 years and Washington School District for 27 years. She was a member and past worthy matron of Lincoln Chapter 112, Order of Eastern Star, a charter member of Beta Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma since 1963, a life member of PSEA and NEA and a member of Washington Kiwanis. Her husband, Alexander Clarke Coleman, died October 17, 1991. Surviving are four cousins, Lee W. Danley of West Finley, Dr. Howard Kuder, Dr. James W. Braden and Mary H. Travis.

Jennie Desiderio, 86, of Elm Street, Washington, died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 1998, in Washington Hospital. She was born May 28, 1912, in New Alexandria, a daughter of James and Rose Pickle Cononico. Mrs. Desiderio was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Christian Mothers. She was formerly employed at Washington and Jefferson College for 14 years. On June 16, 1931, she married Moses J. Desiderio, who died July 27, 1949. Surviving are two sons, Falco J. Desiderio of Indianapolis, Ind., and Michael Desiderio of Canonsburg; a sister, Donette Cononico of Latrobe; five grandchildren, Debbie Weaver, Donna, Michael III and Becky Desiderio and Giovonne Thomas; and four great-grandchildren.

William Dinsmore
Church of the Covenant elder and trustee
William "Deac" Dinsmore, 65, of Lawrence, died Wednesday, October 7, 1998, in Humbert Lane Health Care Center, Washington. He was born January 13, 1933, in Washington, a son of Geneva Warne Dinsmore of Washington and the late Edward W. Dinsmore. Mr. Dinsmore was a member of Church of the Covenant, Washington, where he was an elder and a trustee. He was a 1952 graduate of East Washington High School and attended Wilmington College in Ohio. Prior to his discharge in August 1961, he served in the U.S. Army with the rank of corporal. Mr. Dinsmore was a paramedic equipment salesman, a member of Elks Lodge 776 of Washington and an enthusiastic sports fan. In 1970, in Cambridge, Ohio, he married Clara Jane Price, who survives. In addition to his wife and mother, surviving are two daughters, Debra L. Jackson of Claysville and Breck Ann Pugh of Jamestown; and five grandchildren, Daniel, Brian and Amalee Jackson and Tyler Marie and Kaitlin Renea Pugh.

Victor Hrabchak
University of Pittsburgh maintenance worker
Victor Hrabchak, 75, of 56 Morganza Road, Canonsburg, died Wednesday, October 7, 1998, in his home. He was born December 19, 1922, in Strabane, a son of Steve and Anna Sedora Hrabchak. Mr. Hrabchak was a lifelong resident of the Canonsburg area and was a member of St. Patrick Parish and its Catholic Men's Club. He was a member of American Legion Post 902 of Houston, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 863 of Canonsburg and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 764 of Peters Township. He served as a sergeant with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a radio mechanic during World War II. He worked for U.S. Steel, Irwin Works and Ragner Benson, and prior to his retirement in 1978, was employed in the University of Pittsburgh maintenance department for 20 years. Surviving are his wife, Sophie Tomigal Hrabchak; three daughters, Rosalind Polinski and Judith Ann Delestienne, both of Mt. Lebanon, and Mary L. Burchik of Mt. Gretna; three sisters, Margaret Chile of Houston, Pauline Caggese of Baltimore, Md., and Helen Colombo of Bronx, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, Arthur, Michael, Andrew and Steve Hrabchak; two half brothers, Stephen and George Sedora; and two sisters, Thelma Hrabchak and Ann Bradach.

George Kubovcik Jr.
Former deputy sheriff in Washington County
George R. Kubovcik Jr., 79, of 235 Greenview Drive, Lancaster, formerly of Washington, died unexpectedly of natural causes Tuesday, October 6, 1998, in his home. He was born in Cokeburg, a son of George R. and Sophie Saniga Kubovcik. While residing in Washington County, he had been employed as a deputy sheriff for 10 1/2 years and spent another 10 1/2 years as an adult probation officer prior to his retirement. Mr. Kubovcik was a member of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 of Washington for 35 years and was a fourth-degree member of Knight of Columbus, Council 5826, Bentleyville. He was a member of the Pulaski Club, Polish American Citizens Club and the Slovak Club, all of Washington. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Kubovcik served with the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942-45. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Lancaster and was a former member of St. Hilary Catholic Church in Washington. Mr. Kubovcik has been a resident of Lancaster since December 1993. Surviving is his wife, Eleanor Stanley Kubovcik. They were married 57 years on August 9. Also surviving are a son, George B. Kubovcik of Raleigh, N.C.; two daugthers, Diana L. Kubovcik of Columbus, Ohio, and Deborah M. Lee of Lancaster; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Kubovcik of California; and a sister, Mildred Patalan of Springfield, Ore. A daughter, Jean C. Magnone, is deceased. Burial is Thursday, October 8, in Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery.

June M. Martinek, 76, of McDonald, died Tuesday, October 6, 1998, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington. Born June 25, 1922, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of Emil and Marie Reinerts Theiss. Mrs. Martinek was a 1940 graduate of Hickory High School and a homemaker. Her husband, William Martinek, is deceased. Surviving are two sons, William F. Martinek and Robert G. "Robby" Martinek, both of McDonald; three grandchildren, Natalie, Trevor and Todd Martinek; and a brother, Robert Theiss of McDonald. Deceased are three brothers, Charles Theiss, Fred Theiss and Ernie Theiss; and three sisters, Lorraine Theiss, Ellen Zirwas and JoAnn Brownlee.

Elsie Bogar Suvada

Elsie M. Bogar Suvada, 86, of Avella, died at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 1998, in Washington Hospital. She was born March 6, 1912, in Avella, a daughter of Michael and Angelina Vogliano Francesio. Mrs. Suvada lived most of her life in Avella, where she was a member of Pentecost Lutheran Church, Bert C. Siders American Legion Post 643 Ladies Auxiliary and Cross Creek Valley Senior Citizens. In 1931, she married William. M. Bogar Sr., who died May 17, 1948; in October 1957, she married Andrew Suvada, who died March 3, 1997. Surviving are two sons, William M. Bogar Jr. of Avella and Norman J. Bogar of Baldwin, Md.; and four grandchildren, Erika, Bill and Todd Bogar and Adrienne Schmitt. Deceased is a brother, Delmar Frances.

Stanley Szczepanik

Stanley Szczepanik, 75, of Hickory, died Tuesday, October 6, 1998, in Washington County Health Center. He was born February 18, 1923, in Avella, a son of Anthony and Mary Smorag Szczepanik. Mr. Szczepanik was a member of St. Michael Church in Avella. He was a member of Pulaski Club of Washington, Lions Club of Hickory and the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars of Washington. He had been employed as a supervising draftsman for 42 years for Pennsylvania Transformer, McGraw Edison and Cooper Industries. On September 26, 1948, in St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, Canonsburg, he married Margaret Lukachko, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Richard Szczepanik of Stuart, Fla.; one daughter, Rebecca Flamm-Johnson of Hickory; four sisters, Lucille Hanna of Sacramento, Calif., Jennie Chverchko of Washington, Mary D'Angelo of McDonald and Agnes Wengryn of Bridgeville; four grandchildren, Sabrina and Brian Szczepanik and James Flamm and Caitlin Flamm; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a brother, John Szczepanik.

Udoris Hull Turner

Udoris Gaines Hull Turner, 73, of Waynesburg, died at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 1998, in Franklin Care Center, Waynesburg, after a long illness. She was born October 4, 1925, in Doddridge County, W.Va., a daughter of John B. and Temperance Coen Gaines. She had resided in the New Freeport and Donora areas prior to moving to Waynesburg in 1988. Mrs. Turner attended New Freeport Baptist Church and was a former member of New Freeport Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She was formerly employed by Greenway Manufacturing in Waynesburg and had also owned and operated a craft shop in Donora. On May 9, 1942, she married Austin Hull Jr., who died July 29, 1959. On September 2, 1972, she married John William Turner, who died November 27, 1986. Surviving are two daughters, Jean Wise of New Freeport R.D.1 and Ola Cretta Hull of West Elizabeth; three sons, Jerry L. Hull of West Elizabeth, Robert A. John E. Cole Sr., 68, of 13 Wind Rose Court, Columbiana, Ohio, died Sunday, October 4, 1998, in Youngstown (Ohio) Osteopathic Hospital. He was born November 8, 1929, in Washington, a son of Ross and Edna Henderson Cole. Mr. Cole had moved to Ohio area 36 years ago. He was a mechanic for Smith Brake in Youngstown for 35 years. He was a member of Moose Lodge 467 of East Palestine, Ohio; Eagles Aerie 1506 in East Palestine; and Eagles Aerie 2415 in New Waterford, Ohio. Surviving are four sons, John Cole Jr. of Washington, Don Cole of North Carolina, Ron Cole of New Jersey and Thomas Cole of Struthers, Ohio; a brother, Bill Cole of Leesburg, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A brother, Bob, is deceased.

Honored as school principal in Ohio
Mary Elizabeth Eakin Cole, 83, of Mansfield, Ohio, died Thursday, October 8, 1998, in Kristy's Kare in Mansfield, following an extended illness. She was born June 18, 1915, in Pennsylvania. Mrs. Cole lived most of her adult life in the Massillon-Canton, Ohio, area. She taught elementary school in Pennsylvania, Massillon, Fairless School District and the North Canton School System, where she became principal of Northwood School. Mrs. Cole was nominated and named Outstanding Elementary School Principal for the state of Ohio in the mid-1970s. Surviving are a son, Thomas L. Cole of Mansfield; two granddaughters, Lee Anne Cole Stoddart and Dr. Jennifer Elizabeth Cole Meier; a sister, Martha Patterson of Jollytown; and two great-granddaughters. Deceased is her husband, Randolph Cole, who died in 1992.

Robert E. Ebel

Robert W. Ebel, 97, of McDonald, died Wednesday, October 7, 1998, in Allegheny University Hospitals-Canonsburg. Born August 21, 1901, in Bakerstown, he was a son of Herman and Minemma Yeakel Ebel. Mr. Ebel was a member of Calvary United Presbyterian Church of McDonald, Oakdale Masonic Lodge and the UMWA. Mr. Ebel retired from Pittsburgh Coal Co., Washington, in 1966. On April 21, 1926, he married Viola Carter, who died June 25, 1988. Surviving are a daughter, Gloria E. Ebel, with whom he made his home; a son, Robert E. Ebel of McDonald; three grandchildren, Brian Ebel, Kim Sartori and Beth Signorini; and four great-grandchildren. Deceased are a sister, Myrtle Knaak, and two brothers, Eric and Harry Ebel. There will be no public visitation at the request of the deceased.

Violet Dudzik Izak, 85, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, October 6, 1998, in her home. Born January 6, 1913, in Canonsburg, she was a daughter of John M. and Alexandra Bonczek Dudzik. In 1948 in Michigan, she married Paul Izak, who died in 1996. They lived in Cape Coral for the past 10 years. Surviving are two daughters, Alice Jean Smith of Cape Coral and Sandra Marabate of Fort Myers, Fla.; three grandsons, Robert Smith, Ronald Smith and Scott Marabate; three sisters, Tess Riner of Forestville, Md., Maryann Batton of Cape Coral and Helen A. Ambrose of Canonsburg; and a brother, Larry A. Dudzik of Washington. Deceased are two brothers, Louis Dudzik and Sylvester P. Dudzik; and a sister, Laura R. Goodsaid. Services will be held Friday, October 9, in Cape Coral, with entombment at Lee Memorial Gardens in Fort Myers.

Anthony Martincic of Richfield, Wis., formerly of Muse, died Wednesday, October 7, 1998, in a nursing home, following a lengthy illness. He was born January 17, 1918, in Meadow Lands. A 1936 graduate of Cecil High School, Mr. Martincic was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Medical Corps for four years. Mr. Martincic was a maintenance man for Milwaukee County, Wis. Surviving are his wife, Arline; a son, Andrew; a daughter, Dorine Bills; three grandchildren; a brother, Rudy of Canonsburg; and two sisters, Betty Morris of Canonsburg and Tillie Santis of Maspeth, N.Y. Deceased are a brother, Andrew, and a sister, Freda Cantwell.

Nicholas Rellich
Decorated World War II veteran
Nicholas Rellich, 75, of Houston, died Tuesday, October 6, 1998, at his home of cancer. He was born February 13, 1923, in Arcadia, a son of Todor and Milka Relic. Mr. Rellich attended South Fayette High School and was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, and held teaching credentials in Pennsylvania and Virginia. He was a World War II veteran, serving in Normandy with the 79th Division. He received the European Theater Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, the Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Rellich formerly was employed by McGraw-Edison and later taught school in Donora and Culpeper, Va., and for the Intermediate Unit in special education. He was a member of American Legion Post 902, served on Chartiers-Houston School Board and acted as constable of polls for Chartiers Township. Surviving are his wife, Romaine Mitchell; two daughters, Victoria Katrencik of Brentwood and Sandra Goldman of Encino, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jesse and Emily Katrencik, Jessica, Victoria and Evan Goldman; and two sisters, Emily Kirkpatrick and Mildred Dankowski of Bridgeville. Deceased are three brothers, John, Rudy and Morse Rellich. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, October 12, in the chapel of United Presbyterian Church, Houston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Pleasant and the late Rose Spinella Soforic. Mr. Soforic was employed as a Shipping supervisor for Box USA, Eighty Four. He was a member of the A.G.A., the White Eagles and the Labor Temple, all of Canonsburg. He was a sportsman. Mr. Soforic was a 1984 graduate of Southmoreland High School and also from Central Westmoreland Vocational-Technical School. Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Tammy Ament; a daughter, Andrea Soforic, at home; adoptive mother, Emogene Brening Soforic of Tarrs; two brothers, Amos "Bud" Soforic Jr. and Steven Soforic, both of Scottdale; three sisters, Donna Murphy of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Beth Meader of Bear Rocks and Pamela Soforic of Everson; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are his adoptive father, Charles Soforic; a sister, Theresa Wesolowski; and his grandparents.

Eloise Spahar, 76, of McDonald, died Wednesday, October 7, 1998, in McMurray Hills Manor, McMurray. She was born August 16, 1922, in Joffree, a daughter of Donton and Virginia Cagnon Canonge. Mrs. Spahar was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of McDonald and the McDonald Senior Citizens. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo and traveling. In 1941, she married Frank Spahar, who died in 1989. Surviving are two foster children, Randy Miller of Missouri and Ross Miller of the state of California; and a sister, Eleanor Rusnak of Canonsburg. Deceased are a brother, Elliott Canonge and a sister, Emogene Garrett.

Loretta R. Blaker

Loretta R. "Rosie" Blaker, 52, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, Ohio, died Monday, August 31, 1998, in Western Reserve Extended Care Center, Kirtland, Ohio. She was born February 18, 1946, in Franklin Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late Clarence and Mildred Blaker. She lived in Waynesburg before moving to Mentor-on-the-Lake 28 years ago. Mrs. Blaker was employed at Mollie's Restaurant in Mentor as a preparation cook the past eight years and at Lucio's Restaurant in Mentor more than 20 years. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses, Grand River Congregation, and past president of the Future Homemakers of America. Surviving are a brother, William E. "Katie" Blaker of Mentor-on-the-Lake; a niece, Kimberly K. Mercer of Willoughby, Ohio; and a grand-nephew.

Robert Breckenridge
W&J graduate and noted pathologist
Dr. Robert L. Breckenridge, 81, a native of Huntingdon, a noted pathologist and the former president of the College of American Pathologists, died from complications of a stroke Sunday, August 23, 1998, in Ocean City, N.J. A longtime resident of Cherry Hill, N.J., Breckenridge moved to Ocean City in 1991 after poor health prompted his retirement from the medical profession. He was appointed to the faculty of Jefferson Medical College in 1947 and was a pathology professor there for many years. From 1953 to 1970, he was director of clinical laboratories and a pathologist at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, N.J. He also was a pathologist at several Cherry Hill area hospitals, including Elmer Community Hospital, Bridgeton Hospital and Salem County Memorial Hospital. He was an avid boater and was a pilot. He was an author of many articles and was a speaker for television pieces on AIDS, equine encephalitis and the prevention of food poisoning. He graduated from Washington and Jefferson College in 1940, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity, and from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1944. During World War II, he was an Army physician and worked as a pathologist on Saipan. He was president of the New Jersey Society of Pathologists from 1965 to 1967 and was president of the national organization of pathologists, the College of American Pathologists, from 1985 to 1987. He was married to the former Evelyn Andrews from Washington, who died in 1992. Surviving are four sons, Robert, John , Mark and Andrew; a sister, Sally Platner; and 10 grandchildren. Burial was private. Memorial donations may be made to the Alumni Association of Jefferson Medical College, 1025 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

Marion R. Cain, 70, of Van Voorhis, died Friday, August 28, 1998, in Washington Hospital. She was born July 15, 1928, in McKeesport, a daughter of Joseph and Vera B. Weaver Mawhinney. Mrs. Cain was Protestant. Surviving are two sons, Larry W. Cain of Irwin and Tim Cain of Dunlevy; two daughters, Ruth A. Cain and Tami Gardner, both of Monongahela; five grandchildren, Jason, Johnathan, Bob, Larry Jr. and Shannon Cain; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy McClean of West Mifflin and Eleanor Marshall of McKeesport. Deceased are her husband, William A. Cain, who died April 29, 1996; a brother, Joseph Mawhinney; and three sisters, Blanche E. Henrich, Martha J. Trainer and Ella A. "Sis" Ashton. Private services were held for Mrs. Cain. L. M. Frye Funeral Home Inc., Monongahela, in charge of arrangements.

Addie Louise Clouner, 95, of Washington, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Monday, August 31, 1998, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington. She was born June 26, 1903, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of Isaac and Gertrude Pounds Fielder. Mrs. Clouner was a member of First United Methodist Church of Washington and formerly of Greenstone Methodist Church of Avalon. She attended Washington schools and was formerly a member of the Norwood Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Pittsburgh. Surviving are two daughters, Virginia Lee Chipps Desmond and Shirley Chipps Moore, both of Washington; a stepson, Melvin Clouner of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Deceased are first husband, Lester Chipps; her second husband, Edward Clouner; a daughter who died in infancy; three brothers, Roy and Elmer Fielder and a brother who died in infancy; and a sister, Virginia Young Taylor.

Harry B. Fulton

Harry B. Fulton, 89, of Core Street, Washington, died Sunday, August 30, 1998, in Washington Hospital. He was born September 24, 1908, in Scenery Hill, a son of Albert James and Florence E. Cowen Fulton. Mr. Fulton had been an active member of First Baptist Church of Washington since 1927. A graduate of East Washington High School, Mr. Fulton attended Washington and Jefferson College and Carnegie Institute of Technology. He worked for Drakenfeld for 46 years, retiring as production manager. On September 1, 1932, in Wellsburg, W.Va., he married Jeanette Richards, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Audrey Hayden of Statesville, N.C., and Marjorie Miller of York Springs; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Deceased are three sisters, one who died in infancy, Stanza Beal and Blanche Haught; and five brothers, John, Charles, Samuel, Owen and George Fulton.

Catherine "Cassie" Coleman Gallagher, 85, of Muse, died Sunday, August 30, 1998, in South Hills Convalescent Center after an extended illness. She was born April 7, 1913, in Adelaide, a daughter of Joseph G. and Alice C. Coll Coleman. Mrs. Gallagher lived her entire life in Muse, where she was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church and was employed at the former Union Supply Co. Prior to her retirement in 1976, she was employed for 20 years as a licensed practical nurse at John J. Kane Hospital. Surviving are a brother, Joseph G. Coleman of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, James Joseph Gallagher; two brothers, Thomas and Bernard D. Coleman; and three sisters, Mildred, Bertha and Marie Coleman, all who died in infancy.

She was born October 21, 1953, in New Eagle, a daughter of the late William and Frances Vigliotti McCall. Mrs. Matuck was a member of Assembly of God Church in Bethel Park. She was employed as a cafeteria worker for Peters Township School District. Surviving are a sister, Gloria Paterson of Belle Vernon; a brother, William McCall Jr. of Uniontown; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Daniel Wilson of Finleyville is her fiance.

Joseph Razum, 71, of Eastlake, Ohio, died Friday, August 28, 1998, in Mt. Sinai Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio. He was born March 9, 1927, in Logans Ferry, a son of Charles and Bertha Razum. He was a resident of Eastlake for 30 years. Mr. Razum was a U.S. Army veteran and was a retired supervisor at both Euclid Inc. and East Ohio Gas. He was a former machinist representative at Gabriel Shock Absorber in Cleveland and for two years was groundskeeper at the Blackbrook Country Club in Mentor, Ohio. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Helene Slunski Razum; a daughter, Christine Lucido of Euclid; a son, Joe of Mentor; a grandson, Christopher Lucido; a sister, Frances Lipovic of Willowick; and a brother, Steve of Lyndhurst, Ohio. Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a sister, Zora Popovich.

Anne D. Roth, 83, of Amwell Township, Washington, died Sunday, August 30, 1998, in Washington Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born May 16, 1915, in Meadow Lands, a daughter of Stephen and Mary Tomecko Salat. Mrs. Roth was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church of Washington. She attended Meadow Lands schools; worked for Hazel Atlas Glass Co. at the South Main Street plant; and retired from Metro Glass in 1980. She also was an avid gardener. In December 1941, in Washington, she married George "Duke" Roth. Mr. Roth died May 29, 1976. Surviving are a son, Wayne H. Roth of McDonald; a daughter, Mary Ann Tarnasky of West Redding, Conn.; a sister, Dorothy Piecknick of Meadow Lands; five grandchildren, Kristie A. and Karen M. Richardson, David W. Roth, Katherine L. Appleby and Anne M. Tarnasky; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a sister, Margaret Kisella; and a brother, Robert Salat.

P. Michael Tomich, 69, of Rosewood Drive, Monongahela, died Monday, August 31, 1998, at home, following a brief illness. He was born December 15, 1928, in Donora, a son of Peter A. and Neda Krivic Tomich. Mr. Tomich worked at the former U.S. Steel Donora Plant, worked as supervisor for Liggett's Spring and Axel Co., Monongahela, was supervisor of the Rotor Division, Hoogovens USA, was project manager at the Elliott Company, worked for Patterson Contracting in Monongahela and most recently was employed by Magnum Contracting in New Eagle. He was a 1948 graduate of Donora High School and served in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division, where he was a master sergeant OTC. He was a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Monongahela, and a member of Monongahela Elks Lodge 455. Surviving are his wife, Betty Jane McCarty, whom he married April 27, 1957; two sons, Larry M. and Craig P. Tomich, both of Monongahela; a daughter, Lynn M. Laskey of Monongahela; a brother, John A. Tomich of Upper St. Clair; and three grandchildren, Alexandra M. Laskey and Michael A. and David Tomich.
