Violet Mae "Doll" (Mrs. Homer G.) Burkett, 60, of Bolivar RD 1 died Thursday Sept. 17, 1987 at Lee Hospital Johnstown. She was born May 8, 1927 in Fairfield Twp. a daughter of the late Bryan and Carrie (Hysong) Short. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Bolivar RD 1, and a Democratic committee member for Westmoreland County. She is survived by her husband, Homer G. Burkett; a daughter, Colleen Ray of Bolivar RD 1; two grandsons; three sisters, Clara Jane Bush of Bolivar, Helen Libengood of Blairsville, and Joann Foust of Bolivar RD 1; and three brothers; Joseph Short of Pleasant Unity; and Donald and Charles Short both of Bolivar RD 1. Funeral services were held Monday at the J. Paul McCracken Funeral home, Bolivar with the Rev. Kenneth Neal officiating. Burial was in Fort Palmer Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oncology Department of Lee Hospital.

Mrs. Gertrude Forsha of Chesnut Street, Blairsville, died at her late home on Saturday July 6, 1963. She was born in Bolivar on Februray 27, 1878, a daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Agnes Davis James. Her husband, Alva, preceded her in death in 1938. Surviving are: three daughters Mrs. Ethel Rickard of Atlanta Ga. Mrs. Alice Altemus and Mrs. Paul (Ruth) Auen, both of Blairsville; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Garland of Salina; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Shoemaker Funeral Home in Blairsville from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth R. Miller officiating. Interment in Blairsville Cemetery.

FORSHA, of 31 East Chestnut Street, Blairsville, died in the Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia, yesterday at 3:30 a.m. He was born in Blairsville Sept. 11, 1915, a son of the late Alva FORSHA and Gertrude JAMES. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Gertrude FORSHA, of Blairsville; three sisters--Mrs. Ethel RICHARD, of Atlanta, Ga.; Mrs. Alice ALTEMUS, of Blairsville; Mrs. Ruth AUEN, of Blairsville. A brother, Harry L. FORSHA, of Johnstown, also survives. He is a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church of Blairsville and a member of the Eagles of Bellwood, Pa Friends will be received at the home of his mother, Mrs Gertrude Forsha 31 East Chestnut Street, Blairsville where funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. James Frank paster of the Lutheran Church will officiate and interment will follow in the Blairsville Cemetery.

Forsha, Leslie J.
Lost his life in the World War, he was a member of Company L. of Blairsville of the One Hundred and Tenth Regiment, He was killed in the attack on Bois de Grimpette Hill on July 30, 1918. He was one of five Blairsville boys who lost their lives within half an hour at the Grimpette woods fight....
