PAUL E. WRIGHT
Paul Edward Wright Sr., 66, of Hampden Twp., Cumberland County, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, in Select Specialty Hospital, Camp Hill, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident.

He was born Nov. 27, 1935 in Newport to the late Charles E. and Carolyn (Schmidt) Wright.

He was a former mail room supervisor for Harrisburg Regional Chamber; a past board member of Yellow Breeches Anglers and Conservation Association; and enjoyed fly fishing and local auto racing.

Surviving are his wife, Maxine L. Cahoon Wright; a daughter, Lisa E. Garlock of Linglestown; a son, Paul E. Jr. of Mechanicsburg; and 2 granddaughters, Paris Wright and Jessica Garlock.

Private services were held in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with pastor Jim Moss Jr. officiating.

JOANNA R. KUHN
Joanna R. “Susie” Kuhn, 73, formerly of Landisburg, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002 in Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.

She was a retired secretary for the Bank of Landisburg and a member of Marysville Church of God.

Surviving are her husband, Samuel Mike Kuhn; a son, John Bernie Kuhn of Marysville; a daughter, Julie K. Heslin of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother, William S. Russ of Elliottsburg; a grandson; and two stepgranddaughters.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, in Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville. Burial will be in Perry Heights Cemetery, Marysville.

JOSEPHINE V. CRUM
Josephine V. “Josie” Crum, 80, of Hickory Ridge, Centre Twp., Newport, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.

She was born May 14, 1922 in Millersburg to the late Robert and Anna Mae (Fornwalt) Chubb.

She was a Christian and a member of Newport Assembly of God and Newport Lioness Club. She was an inspiration to many blind persons through her seminars and assembly presentations with her seeing-eye dog, Reba McIntyre, for the Hadley School for the Blind and the Leader School for the Blind.

She was the widow of Frank B. Crum.

Surviving are six sons, David and Chennedy Albright and George Shearer, all of Millersburg, Dennis Shearer of Halifax, Jeff Shearer and Wyatt Morrison, both of York; three daughters, Sharity Hartzell of Newport, Anna Mae Gazett of York and Dolly Lopez of Hummelstown; three brothers, Henry Chubb of Shamokin, Richard and Mitch Chubb, both of Millersburg; three sisters, Henrietta Lohr and Ruth Huff, both of Millersburg, and Dorothy Chubb of Reading, 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 8 in her church with the Revs. Gary Bellis and Anthony Hill officiating. Burial was in East Harrisburg Cemetery.

Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, handled arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church, 253 N. Sixth St., Newport 17074, for the Josephine V. Crum Memorial Fund.

ARLENE E. HARRY
Arlene E. Harry, 84, of Red Hill Road, Newport, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002 at home.

She was born July 4, 1918 in Greene County, Va., to the late C. Scott and Minnie (Knight) Haney.

She was retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare; a member of Market Street United Methodist Church, Newport, American Business Women’s Association, Newport American Legion Post 177 Ladies Auxiliary and Newport Fire Company and Ambulance League; and enjoyed traveling and being with her grandchildren.

She was the widow of Kermit B. Harry.

Surviving are a companion, Carl A. Lauver of Newport; two sons, Kermit B. Jr. of Newport and Richard T. of Charlottesville, Va.; a daughter, Joanne H. Johnston of Newport; four sisters, Gladys Garton, Olive Proffitt, Myrtle Snead and Irene Haden, all of Charlottesville, Va.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 9 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport. Burial was in Red Hill Cemetery.

ANNE C. WYRICK
Anne Carol Wyrick, 61, of Columbus, Ind., died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 in Las Vegas, Nev.

She was born May 20, 1941 in Millerstown to the late Raymond M. and Anna Z. (Pressley) Anderson.

Surviving are her husband, Hershel H. Wyrick Jr.; a daughter, Ena D. Jewell of Vevay, Ind.; a son, Hershel H. III of Columbus, Ind.; two brothers, James H. Anderson of Greer, S.C., and Robert S. Anderson of New Bloomfield; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a brother, David A. Anderson, and a sister, Elsie G. Anderson.

Services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 20, in East Columbus Christian Church, Columbus, Ind.

LOUISE FRANCHI
Louise Franchi, 61, of Route 414, Corning, N.Y., died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002 at Corning Hospital.
She was born Sept. 19, 1941 in Harrisburg to the late Mary Kay (Aumiller) German and George M. German of Wellsboro.

She lived in Blain, attending school there until the ninth grade. She graduated from Wellsboro High School and Alfred School of Nursing.

She had worked for Chemung County Department of Nursing, and was employed as an office nurse for Dr. John Horn. For the past 31 years, she was employed as a bookkeeper/auditor for American Express in Corning.

She had served two terms as president of the Corning Business and Professional Women’s Club.

In addition to her father, surviving are her husband of 40 years, Earl Franchi; a stepson, Ralph A. Franchi of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Katherine Ann (North) Smith of Harrisburg; and a brother- and sister-in-law, Ralph and Jeanette Franchi of Big Flats, N.Y.

Services were held Sept. 28 in Haughey Funeral Home, Corning, with the Rev. Jack Bunde officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to any charity.

RANDALL W. NICHOLL
Randall W. Nicholl, 49, of Camp Hill died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002 at home.

He was a mechanic for the former Quaker Oats Camp Hill plant.

Surviving are his wife, Deborah A. Shulda Nicholl; two sons, Jason A. and Adam M., both at home; his mother, Dorothy Nicholl, and two brothers, Robert and Paul, all of Loysville.

Neumyer Funeral Home Inc. handled arrangements.

NAN M. EBLING-ZERDY
Nan M. “Nancy” Ebling-Zerdy, 60, of Hunter’s Valley Road, Liverpool, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002 at home.

She was born Nov. 28, 1941 at Mifflinburg, Union County, to the late Kenneth W. and D. June (Moyer) Garman.

She was a certified medical assistant with Nephrology Associates of Central Pennsylvania, Camp Hill; a 1959 graduate of Middleburg Joint High School and a member of the class reunion committee, and a 1984 graduate of the Medical Arts and Business School, Camp Hill; and a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Liverpool, where she had served on council and altar guild, Hunter’s Valley Cemetery Association and Hunter’s Valley Card Club; and enjoyed vacations and bus trips.

She was the widow of Charles Ronald Ebling, who died Aug. 27, 1966.

Surviving are her husband of two years, William J. Zerdy; a son, Kenneth R. Ebling of York; a brother, John R. Garman of Aylett, Va.; and a grandson, Charles S. Ebling.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Ebling.

Services were held Oct. 4 in her church with the Rev. James R. Bramer officiating. Burial was Hunter’s Valley Cemetery, Liverpool RR 2.

Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, handled arrangements.

MARGARET E. FREY
Margaret E. Frey, 97, formerly of Marysville and Lake Meade, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002 in Rest Haven Nursing Home, York.

She was one of the founders of the Marysville-Rye Library and its first librarian; and a member of The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York, Lake Meade Homemakers and Lake Meade Fire and Rescue Ladies Auxiliary.

She was the widow of Russel Frey.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary F. Eschbach of East Berlin; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held a later date. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Marysville.

CHARLES V. JONES

Charles Vance Jones, 79, of Duncannon died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 at home.

He was a retired mail carrier for Duncannon RR 1; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of Roseglen United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Florence Stansfield Jones; three sons, Barry W., Darrel E. and Duane A. Sr., all of Duncannon; five grandsons; a granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.

Services were held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Randall Goshorn officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Duncannon.

LOGAN N. MEYER
Logan N. Meyer, 3-month-old son of Trey Meyer and Tonya Bowersox of Duncannon, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.

In addition to his parents, surviving are a stepbrother, Anthony Meyer; a stepsister, Hope Meyer; maternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Virginia and Robert Lenig; maternal grandfather, Wayne Bowersox; maternal great-grandparents, Harry and Gloria Bowersox; maternal great-grandmother, Virginia Fleagle; maternal stepgreat-grandmother, Marge Clegg; paternal grandmother, Janet Evener; paternal grandfather, Jack Meyer Jr.; and paternal great-grandmother, Georgia Meyer.

Services were held Oct. 8 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

IRENE E. RATCHFORD
Irene E. Ratchford, 82, of North Fifth Street, Newport, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002 in the Sarah Todd Nursing Home, Carlisle.

She was born May 25, 1920 in Patton, Pa., to the late Raymond and Irene (Fox) Lauer.

She was retired from PennDOT and was a member of Market Street United Methodist Church, Newport.

Surviving are her husband, Edward J. Ratchford; four daughters, Judy Allwine of Mt. Joy, Marian Bauder of Elizabethtown, Virginia Morris of New Bloomfield and Leanne Hostler of Newport; three brothers, John Lauer of Oxford, Raymond Lauer of Mechanicsburg and Harold Lauer of York Springs; three sisters, Patricia Sinclair of York Springs, Marilyn Miller of Gettysburg and Clara Rahere of New Mexico; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 30 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with Kenneth Hostler officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

LEONA A. WHITE
Leona A. White, 85, formerly of Newport RR 4, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.

She was born Nov. 13, 1916 in West Wyoming, Luzerne County, to the late Roman and Constance (Ostrowski) Aberant.

She was a retired teacher from West Wyoming and Marietta school districts; a graduate of the former Bloomsburg State Teachers College; a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania State Retired Teachers and Polish Women’s Alliance; and enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

She was the widow of William A. White.

Surviving are a sister, Julia Laskey of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held Oct. 4 in her church. Mass of Christian Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

Myers Funeral Home, Newport, handled arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church, W. McClure St., New Bloomfield 17068, or Perry Village Nursing Home, 213 E. Main St., New Bloomfield.

LUTURA B. BENSON
Lutura B. Benson, 101, formerly of Millerstown RR 1, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002 in Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.

She was born Sept. 13, 1901 in Saville Twp.

She was a member of Donnally Mills United Methodist Church.

She was the widow of Grant D. Benson.

Surviving are a son, Frank E. of Millerstown; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Horace Sheaffer and Charles Benson; a daughter, Grace Kleckner; a grandson, Charles Benson Jr.; and two great-grandsons, Anthony Sheaffer and Jason McNaughton.

Services were held Oct. 11 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport. Burial was in Eshcol Cemetery, Millerstown.
