HELEN M. HESS
Helen M. Hess, 81, of Longwood Manor, Maytown, and formerly of Church Street, Mount Joy, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002 at home.

She was born in Elizabethtown to the late Jacob and Ada N. (Doutrich) Eichler.

She retired from the New Standard Corp., Mount Joy, and previously was employed by the former Gerberich Payne Shoe Company, Mount Joy, and worked part-time for the former G.C. Murphy Company and The Merchandiser, both of Mount Joy; was a 70-year member of Glossbrenner United Methodist Church, Mount Joy; helped with Meals on Wheels in Mount Joy; and enjoyed shopping, playing cards, reading and crossword puzzles.

She was the widow of Landis K. Hess.

Surviving are a son, James E. of Street, Md.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Espenshade.

Services were held Oct. 26 in her church with the Rev. Kenneth H. O’Neal officiating. Burial was in Camp Hill Cemetery, Mount Joy.

Sheetz Funeral Home, Mount Joy, handled arrangements.

ANNAMARIE MILLER
AnnaMarie Miller, 75, of Kennedy’s Valley Road, Landisburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002 at home.

She was born April 16, 1927 at Landisburg RR 2 to the late Roscoe and Irene (Morrow) Morrison.

She was retired from the Loysville Youth Development Center and had worked at the Tressler Lutheran Home, Loysville, and had been co-owner of Miller’s Auto Sales, M&M Restaurant and Double M Restaurant; a member of Kennedy’s Valley Church of God, Landisburg RR 2; and had been very active in Girl Scouts.

She was the widow of Ralph M. Miller, who died June 4, 1998.

Surviving are two daughters, Connie I. Timmons and Louise M. Emlet, both of Landisburg; a son Ralph Jr. of Highspire; two brothers, Emory and Blaine Morrison, both of Landisburg RR 2; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and George Morrison, and two grandsons, Chad and Justin Emlet.

Services were held Oct. 28 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Vic Shifler officiating. Burial was in Landisburg Cemetery.

KAREN L. ENGEL
Karen L. Engel, 44, of Third Street, West Fairview, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 in Harrisburg Hospital.

Surviving are her husband, Marlin L. Engel; a daughter, Tiffany J. Engel, and a son, Brandon I. Engel, both at home; her mother, Doris J. Miller, and a brother, Allen E. Miller, both of West Fairview.

Services were held Oct. 30 in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. William Gettins officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Ducannon.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 3211 N. Front St., Suite 110, Harrisburg 17110.

GARY W. NEILL
Gary W. Neill, 54, of Episcopal Commons, Newport, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002 in Hershey Medical Center.

He was retired from Defense Logistics Center in Battle Creek, Mich, and enjoyed fishing, archery and was a third degree black belt in karate.

Surviving are two sons, Marc A. of Newport and Keith W. of Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Neill of Newport; his mother and stepfather, Loretta A. Neill and Wilbur E. Black of Shermans Dale; two sisters, Loretta A. Hocker of Dillsburg and Linda K. Shultz of Wheatfield, Ind.; and a grandson.

A memorial service was held Oct. 30 in Baughman United Methodist Church, New Cumberland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

JAMES R. NESBIT
James R. Nesbit, 58, of Loysville RR 2 died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002 in Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 27, 1944 at Loysville RR 2 to the late Dale R. and V. Jane (Rice) Nesbit.

He was chief engineer of the Total Energy Plant at the Harrisburg East Mall; an Air Force veteran; a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Loysville RR 1, and Blain Ambulance Club.

Surviving are his wife, Ovetta A. Danner Nesbit; two sons, Jerry D. and Tony J., both of Loysville RR 2; three sisters, Goldie A. Keys and Mary J. Kint, both of Loysville, and Sara L. Evans of Springfield, W.Va.; and four granddaughters, Brandy, Dani, Lindsey and Jocelyn.

Services were held Oct. 25 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. John S. Kipp officiating. Burial, with military honors by New Bloomfield VFW Post 7463, was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

STEFAN M. MYERS
Stefan M. Myers, 39, of Loysville RR 2, formerly of St. Thomas, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002 in Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 10, 1963 in Chambersburg Hospital to Charles L. and Anna K. Isenberger Myers of St. Thomas.

He was a security guard for Pinkerton/Burns Security at The Patriot News, and formerly employed by Schaad Detective Agency; a former Franklin County deputy sheriff, former forest ranger with the Department of Forestry, and emergency management associate coordinator of St. Thomas Twp.; a graduate of James Buchanan High School, Mercersburg, and the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy; attended criminal justice training programs at Temple University, Philadelphia, attended classes at Dickinson College, Carlisle, and received numerous certificates of completion in many areas from the Public Safety Institute at Harrisburg Area Community College from 1990 to the present; had attended King Street United Brethren Church and Trinity Lutheran Church, both of Chambersburg; a member of St. Thomas Twp. Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company No. 18 and a St. Thomas volunteer fire policeman; and enjoyed ham radio, flea markets, camping and working on old cars.

In addition to his parents, surviving are his fiance, Diane M. Yocum; children, Richard H. Yocum, Travis R. Yocum and Jeremy T. Yocum, all at home; and a brother, Cameron L. of St. Thomas.

Services were held Oct. 24 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Paul B. Baker officiating. Burial was in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Twp. Volunteer Fire Company, 34 Schoolhouse Road, St. Thomas 17252.

FAYETTA A. SHRAUDER
Fayetta A. Shrauder, 99, formerly of Perdix, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002 in Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.

She was retired from the Bell Telephone Company, Harrisburg; a life member of the Perdix Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the former Augsburg Lutheran Church, Harrisburg; and a member of Marysville Golden Age Club and the former Perdix Chapel.

She was the widow of G. Frank Shrauder.

Services were held Oct. 28 in Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville. Burial was in East Harrisburg Cemetery.

REV. MARY H. REISINGER
The Rev. Mary H. Reisinger, 102, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg, where she was a resident since 1970.

She was born Sept. 17, 1900, in New Bloomfield to the late William W. and Minnie Mae (Cameron) Hair.

She was the widow of the Rev. D. Kenneth Reisinger, who died in 1978. They were married 51 years.

She graduated from New Bloomfield High School in 1921, was a 1926 graduate of Lebanon Valley College, and did graduate work at Pennsylvania State College. She taught junior high in West Fairview and in Carroll County, Md.

She married her husband in 1927 and together in 1933 they were ordained into the United Brethren denomination by Bishop G.W. Batdorf. They served churches in Mt. Tabor in Adams County, Mechanicsburg, Doner, Bradford and Greenmount, Md.

With her husband, they were involved with interdenominational Christian education programs from 1953 to 1968. She also taught classes at the Baltimore School of the Bible, and the Buffalo Bible Institute in Buffalo, N.Y. She served as director of Child Evangelical Fellowship for Maryland for many years.

She was given special recognition on her 100 birthday by the Commission on Archives and History of Western Pennsylvania Conference, and was the oldest living clergywoman in the denomination.

She was a member of the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church.

After retirement she and her husband moved to Daytona Beach, Fla., and from there they moved to United Methodist Home Campus in Lewisburg.

Surviving are a son-in-law and many grand, great and great-great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce R. Mixter, and a son, Robert K. Reisinger.

SIMON P. BOWERSOX
Simon P. Bowersox, 95, of New Bloomfield RR 1 died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002 in Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

He was born June 4, 1907 in Juniata County to the late E.M. and Katherine (Kreiser) Bowersox.

He was a retired farmer and a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, New Bloomfield.
He was the widower of Margaret E. Bowersox, who died in 1988.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Services were held Thursday, Oct. 31 in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, with the Rev. Alan K. Foor officiating. Burial was in Bloomfield Cemetery.

IVADELL C. JONES
Ivadell C. “Ivy” Jones, 71, of William Penn Beverly Health Care, William Penn, died Wednesday, Oct. 30.

She was born Dec. 11, 1927 in Newport to the late Jacob W. Sr. and Carrie Elizabeth (Shatto) Carl.

She was retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield; a 1946 graduate of Newport High School.

Surviving are four sons, William of Somerset, Brad S. of Newport, John D. of Middleburg and Todd of Lewistown; a daughter, Wendy Zeigler of Reedsville; two sisters, two sisters, Helen Longwell of Middleburg and Mildred Wagner of Florida; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Barr Funeral Home, Lewistown, handled arrangements.

GRACE V. RILAND
Grace V. Riland, 92, of Barrick Drive, Duncannon, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.

She was born April 30, 1910 in Stonington to the late Harry and Carrie (Wolf) Lauver.

She was a retired seamstress, having worked last at Eileen Hope Dress Co., Duncannon.

She was the widow of Carl Dunkelberger, who died in 1930, and Frederick Riland, who died in 1983.

Surviving are a son, Samuel Riland of Quakertown; two daughters, June Kline of Sunbury RR 4 and Soundra Garber of Duncannon; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Weikel, and eight brothers, Clayton, Chester, Elwood, Edward, Ralph, Adam, Russell and Lester.

Services were held Oct. 30 in Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, Sunbury, with the Rev. Thomas Smith officiating. Burial was in Stonington Baptist Cemetery.

GIUSEPPE RUSSO
Giuseppe Russo, 52, of Newport Road, Duncannon, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002 in Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 30, 1950 in Sicily.

Surviving are his wife, Domenica Russo; two sons, Frank of Lebanon and Anthony John at home; a daughter, Rose Mannino of Duncannon; his parents, Frank and Roselia Russo, two brothers, Franco and Antonio, and two sisters, Margerita and Mariella, all of Sicily, and three grandchildren.

A viewing was held Nov. 3 in Boyer Funeral Home, Duncannon. Services and burial will be in Carini, Sicily.

CORA D. WAGNER
Cora D. Wagner, 84, formerly of W. High Street, New Bloomfield, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002 in Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.

She was born Dec. 28, 1917 in Perry County to the late Warren and Daisy (Reapsome) Barkley.

She was a member of New Bloomfield United Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteering for various organizations.

She was the widow of George W. Wagner.

Surviving are two sons, Gerald D. of New Bloomfield and Terry G. of Millerstown; a brother, Harry Barkley of Newport; and three grandsons.

Services were held Nov. 5 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Roz Mason officiating. Burial was in Bloomfield Cemetery.
