BEATRICE E. STROHM
Beatrice E. Strohm, 77, of Duncannon RR 4 died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998 in Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.
She was born Jan. 14, 1921 in Harrisburg to the late Abraham L. and Ella E. (Metzger) Snyder.
She was a member of Watts Weslyan Church. She was the widow of Edward F. Strohm.
Surviving are a son, Michael of Duncannon; a daughter, Joanna High of Texas; a brother, Robert Snyder of Harrisburg; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 27 in Boyer Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. Fred Brungart officiating. Burial was in Shoop's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church, RR 4, Duncannon 17020, or Kinkora Pythian Home, 25 Cove Road, Duncannon.

DELORES V. SHIFFER
Delores V. Shiffer, 63, of Millerstown died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
She was born March 26, 1935 at Toronto, Canada to Lillian P. (Blair) Fagan of Everett, Ontario, Canada, and the late Lyle P. Fagan.
She was a former tutor for the Perry County Literacy Council, Newport; a life member of Mifflintown VFW Post 5863 Auxiliary and D.A.V. Ladies Auxiliary; and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Liverpool.
In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband, Willard G. Shiffer; two sons, Dale E. of Myerstown and Lyle J. of Ft. Sill, Okla.; two daughters, Deborah C. Heisey of Mifflin and Adele L. Mixell of New Cumberland; one brother, Lee A. Fagan of Ontario, Canada; two sisters, Maureen J. Ludlow of Everett, Ontario, and Donna M. McAllister of Sudbury, Ontario; and nine grandchildren.
Services were held at the convenience of the family in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville with the Rev. Douglas Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

E. MARIE SNYDER
E. Marie Snyder, 95, of Manor Care Health Services, Camp Hill, formerly of Shiremanstown and Mesa, Ariz., died Tuesday, July 21, 1998 at Manor Care.
She was a member of Shiremanstown United Methodist Church and was a former worthy matron of the Perry Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was the widow of Jesse H. Snyder.
Surviving are a son, Karl of Tinley Park, Ill.; two daughters, Lois Baumgardner of Shiremanstown and Rita Chatham of Landover Hills, Md.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 26 in her church. Meyers-Harner Funeral Home, Camp Hill, handled arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church's building fund, 125 E. Main St., Shiremanstown 17011.

EVELYN M. SHERMAN
Evelyn M. Sherman, 82, of Landisburg RR 1 died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
She was born May 5, 1916 at Wormleysburg to the late Albert and Florence (Houdishell) Keller.
She was a production worker for Knouse Food in Biglerville; a homemaker; a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Landisburg RR 1, Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 1299, Carlisle, White Circle Lodge 1, Carlisle; and an honorary member of Group 17 Cumberland County Farm Women.
Surviving are her husband, Chester D. Sherman; three sons, Wayne Myers and Carl Myers, both of Landisburg, and William Myers of Harrisburg; one daughter, Evelyn Potteiger of Landisburg; four stepdaughters, Charlene Brown of Shermans Dale, Beverly Casner of Loysville, Ruth Klinger of Bernville and Ann Woomer of Carlisle; three stepsons, Robert Sherman and Fred Sherman, both of Landisburg, and Donald Sherman of Enola; one sister, Blanche Ryan of Heather Place; one half-brother, Bill Keller of New Cumberland; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 13 at her church with the Revs. George C. Martz and E. Levain Fouse officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Landisburg RR 1.
Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, handled arrangements.

FRANK A. STINEHART
Frank A. Stinehart, 58, of Liverpool RR 1 died Sunday, April 5, 1998 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born May 1, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Frank and Laura (Ames) Stinehart.
He attended Cleveland schools; was a graduate of Ohio Military Institute; a staff sergeant and three-tour Army veteran of the Vietnam War and recipient of the Vietnam Gallantry Cross; a Catholic; worked part-time at Kwik-Fill service station, Duncannon; was service officer of Liverpool American Legion; and a member of Millerstown Moose, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 49 and Newport Owls.
He was the widower of Frances Marie Ramedia Stinehart, who died March 27, 1996.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Lee Foreman of Liverpool RR 1 and Frances L. Bruno of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Graveside services with military honors were held April 9 in Barner's (St. John) Lutheran Cemetery, Liverpool RR 1, with Robert Thompson officiating.
Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, handled arrangements.

HAZEL M. SMITH
Hazel May Smith, 67, of Washington Street, Frederick, Md., formerly of New Bloomfield, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998 at Homewood Retirement Center, Fredrick.
She was born Jan. 5, 1931 in Newport to the late William M. and Grace M. Beers-Warren.
She was a member of Frederick Calvary United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Robert C. Smith; two daughters, Patricia Ann Smith and Donna Jean Smith; and five grandsons, Erik, Dominic, Wayne, Antonio and Jesse Smith.
Services were held April 20 at her church with pastor Gaye Smith officiating.
A graveside service was held April 21 at the Warren family plot in Newport Cemetery with the Rev. Patricia Woolever officiating.
Arrangements were handled by Gary L. Rollins Funeral Home, Frederick, Md.

IRENE S. SMALLZEL
Irene S. Smallzel, 95, of Duncannon RR 4 died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998 at home.
She was born Aug. 15, 1903 in Philadelphia to the late Wilhelm and Mary (Liming) Wacker.
She retired from Harrisburg State Hospital; was a Universalist; a member of the Harrisburg Chapter of the United Nations and the Perry County Historical Society; and a board member of the Harrisburg YWCA.
She was the widow of Victor W. Smallzel.
Surviving are three daughters, Elizabeth E. Eshelby of Carlisle and Victoria I. Bryan and Florence S. Yost, both of Duncannon; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, handled arrangements.

REV. JOHN A. SHUMAN SR.
Rev. John A. Shuman Sr., 83, of Lebanon RR 4 died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1998 at home.
He was born in Newport on Feb. 27, 1914 to the late William C. and Harriet (Kirk) Shuman.
He was called to the ministry in the Annville congregation in 1950 and held many pastorates including Annville, Mt. Wilson, Mohrsville, Mt. Olivet, Stevens Hill and Chiques Church of the Brethren. He also held numerous revival services.
He worked as a store manager for Eastern States in Annville and as a salesman for G&G Feed and Supply in Manheim.
He was a member of Chiques Church of the Brethren, Manheim, where he was a senior Bible class Sunday school teacher, and a member of Annville Senior Citizens.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 61 years, Anna E. Light Shuman; five sons, Kenneth R. of Lititz, John A. Jr. and Dennis E., both of Bachmanville, Larry E. of Colebrook and David E. of New Bloomfield; a daughter, Mary Ann Tyson of Elizabethtown; a brother, Eugene Shuman of Millerstown; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 28 at his church. Burial was in the church Cemetery.
Kreamer Funeral Home, Annville, handled arrangements.

JAMES H. SCHMAUS
James H. Schmaus, 64, of Landisburg RR 1 died Monday, March 30, 1998 at home.
He was born Sept. 4, 1933 at Carlisle to the late John and Stella (Manning) Schmaus.
He was a self-employed upholsterer; a Marine Corps veteran, serving from June 13, 1951 to June 12, 1954; a graduate of Carlisle High School; and of the Catholic faith. He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 578 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1299, both of Carlisle.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia M. Makibbin Schmaus; two daughters, Suzanne Schmaus of Newville and Lisa Brousse of Carlisle; a sister, Stella Schmaus of Carlisle; a brother, John of Funkstown, Md.; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held at the convenience of the family.
