Betty D. Bornman, 71, of Schoolhouse Road, Duncannon, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
She was born April 16, 1927 in Duncannon to the late John M. and Alma (Gusler) Graybill.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Marysville and its United Methodist Women.
Surviving are her husband, Homer L. Bornman; one daughter, Robin G. Ramp of Marysville; two brothers, Jess Parker officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Duncannon.

CHARLES E. BENNER
Charles E. Benner, 74, of Berryhill Road, Harrisburg, died Saturday, March 20, 1999 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born Oct. 17, 1924 in Snyder County to the late Elisha and Sarah (Kratzer) Benner.
Surviving are a nephew and nieces.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Services were held March 24 in Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, with the Rev. Raymond Neitz officiating. Burial was in Aline United Methodist Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Mills.

CATHERINE I. BARTHEL
Catherine Irene "Red" Barthel, 72, formerly of Liverpool, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
She was born in rural Liverpool to the late Ross Daniel and Bertha (Wili) Mangle.
She attended Centerville Grammar School, Millerstown RR 1, and enjoyed playing bingo.
She was the widow of Paul Edward Barthel, who died May 6, 1985.
Surviving are two sons, Fred W. of York Haven, with whom she lived, and Thomas E. of Steelton; three daughters, Shirley I. Shirley and Robin E. Hill, both of Duncannon, and Connie L. Kuren of Lewisberry; two brothers, Herbert Mangle of New Buffalo and Richard Mangle of Mt. Pleasant Mills RR 1; one sister, Charlotte Kammler of Liverpool RR 1; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Roscoe Mangle, and two sisters, Hazel Keck and Thelma Reynolds.
Services were held Dec. 24 in Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, with the Rev. James Bramer officiating. Burial was in St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery, Old Ferry Road, Millerstown.

CHESTER R. BOOKWALTER
Chester R. Bookwalter, 69, of Millerstown RR 2 died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born March 30, 1930 in Mifflintown to the late Isaac and Bertha (Bowersox) Bookwalter.
He retired from Harsco Inc., Harrisburg; attended the Church of the Open Door, Richfield; and enjoyed woodworking, hunting and camping.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Foose Bookwalter; four sons, William, David, Tom and Chester Jr., all of Millerstown; a daughter, Darla Kratzer of Beavertown; a brother, Paul, and a sister, Violet, both of Carlisle; seven grandchildren, William Bookwalter Jr., Wanda Bookwalter, Barbie Bender, Calvin Book, Alicia Book, Brian Book and Mick Book; and a great-grandson, Keith Brian Bender.
He was preceded in death by a brother, George Bookwalter.
Services were held Aug. 27 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport with the Rev. Richard Von Neida officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery, Seven Stars.

DALE H. BAKER
Dale H. Baker, 75, of Landisburg RR 1 died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was born May 10, 1923 in Madison Twp. to the late Charles H. and Mary F. (Moore) Baker.
He retired as head miller from H.R. Wentzel and Sons Inc., Landisburg RR 1; was a Navy veteran of World War II; a member of Duncannon American Legion Post 340 and the Newport Social Order of Owls; and a life member of White Circle Lodge 1, Carlisle.
Surviving are a brother, Donald S. "Sam" of Landisburg RR 1, and a sister, Dorothy L. Morrison of Shermans Dale.
Services were held Feb. 26 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Malcolm E. Martin officiating. Burial was in Mount Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Landisburg RR 1.

DOROTHY I. BEHRENDT
Dorothy I. Behrendt, 72, of New Bloomfield RR 1 died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
She retired from the Book of the Month Club and was a former employee of Blough-Wagner, Harrisburg.
Surviving are a son, Charles W. of New Bloomfield; a daughter, Donna M. Seiber of Millerstown; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 31 in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield. Burial was in Bloomfield Cemetery.

DORIS JEAN BIXLER
Doris Jean Bixler, 67, of Liverpool RR 2 died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999 in Harrisburg Hospital.
She was born June 9, 1931 at Lambs Gap, Cumberland County, to the late Harry and Elizabeth (Shelly) Wright.
She was a former employee of G.C. Murphy Co. in Lemoyne; attended the former William Penn High School, Harrisburg; a member of New Buffalo Missionary Alliance Church; and was an avid reader and gardener.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Frank L. Bixler; two sons, Frank L. Jr. and Kirk A., both of Carlisle; three daughters, Karen E. Hoover and Deborah J. Rush, both of Dover, and Janet E. Sideck of Camp Hill; three sisters, Pauline Bobb of Camp Hill, Marcella Waltman of Carlisle and Esther Knouse of Shippensburg; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and seven sisters.
Services were held March 2 in Gar-man Funeral Home, Liverpool, with the Rev. David W. Gouak officiating. Burial was in Hunter's Valley Cemetery, Liverpool RR 2.

DAVID L. BAER
David L. Baer, 58, of Newport RR 5 died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999 at home.
He was born Sept. 24, 1941 in Newport to the late John and Anna (Knisely) Baer.
He retired as a teacher from the Susquenita School District, where he was a former high school wrestling coach, and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Newport.
Surviving are a son, Brandon D., at home; three brothers, Dallas and John A., both of Newport RR 5, and Robert of Clarks Summit; and a sister, Anna Mitchell of Newport.
Services were held Oct. 24 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Irene Friberg-Dussaq officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

EARL E. BARNES
Earl Elwood Barnes, 79, of Elliottsburg RR 1 died Tuesday, March 16, 1999 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born Oct. 12, 1919 in Tuscarora Twp. to the late John and Hester Barnes.
He retired as a mechanic from R and W Equipment, Carlisle; had been a mechanic for the former Shovers Equipment, Loysville; and was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church, Newport.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel L. Casner Barnes; two daughters, Joanne Reeder of Newville and Fern Dougherty of Loysville RR 2; a stepdaughter, Lois Fleisher of New Bloomfield RR 2; two brothers, John of Millerstown and Larry of Newport; four sisters, Thelma Waller, Mabel Casner and Ethel Weibley, all of Loysville RR 1, and Betty Wingert of Liverpool; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 20 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Crea M. Clark officiating. Burial was in Messiah Lutheran Church Cemetery, Elliottsburg.

EARNEST E. BECK SR.
Earnest E. Beck Sr., 65, of Enola died Thursday, July 15, 1999 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He retired as a truck driver from the U.S. Postal Service; was a Navy veteran of the Korean War; a member of the Sixth Street Clover Club, Enola American Legion Post 751, Duncannon VFW Post 255 and the Blue Ridge Sportsman Club; an honorary member of the Sheriffs Association; and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, S. Arlene Bashore Beck; three sons, Earnest E. Jr. of Enola, William D. of Duncannon and Timothy A. of Dauphin; two sisters, MaryAnn Horting of Dauphin and Lois Myers of Grantville; four brothers, Tony of Linglestown, John of York Haven, Thomas of Dauphin and Kenneth of Duncannon; and eight grandchildren.
Services were held July 19 in Neumyer Funeral Home. Burial was at the family's convenience.
