SAMUEL W. BROWNAWELL
Samuel W. Brownawell, 81, of Third Street, Carlisle, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born May 31, 1918 in Perry County to the late William C. and Minnie (Sheriff) Brownawell.
He retired from Carlisle Cement Products and was a former employee of Bonnybrook Stone Quarries; and a social member of American Legion Post 101.
Surviving are four daughters, Minnie J. Bolen of Gardners, Helen Russell and Sandy Stimeling, both of Newville, and Mary Ann Shields of Shippensburg; four brothers, Earl, Pete and Bob, all of Shermans Dale, and Jess of Carlisle; three sisters, Betty Rhoades of Gardners and Mary Stump and Mildred Nace, both of Carlisle; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the convenience of the family.
Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, handled arrangements.

THOMAS BARR JR.
Thomas Barr Jr., 83, of Watts Twp., Duncannon RR 4, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999 at home.
He retired as an auto mechanic and shop supervisor from McGarvey's Sunoco, Summerdale; formerly owned an Esso service station in Watts Twp.; was a former assistant plant supervisor for Harbison Walker Refractories Co., Clearfield; and was a former Watts Twp. constable.
He had 15 poems and 50 short stories published; was a graduate of Clearfield High School; a National Guard veteran; and a former member of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
He had been a member and board director of Emanuel United Methodist Church was a past president of the Old Town Sportsmen's Club and an elementary school PTA; past president of the Stone Workers Union, a former Boy Scout leader, all in Clearfield; a member of the Pipe Springs Hunting Club, Snow Shoe; and a former constable in Watts Twp.
He was the widower of Marjorie E. Woods Barr.
Surviving are four daughters, Sandra B. Foulkrod of Bellefonte, Marjorie B. Stuckey of Mechanicsburg, Linda D. Donbach of Marysville and Cheryl A. Roth of Enola; a brother, Alex of Gettysburg; two sisters, Viola Engle of Flint, Mich., and Sara Berthot of Olive Bridge, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Aug. 16 in Bethany United Methodist Church, Marysville.
Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville, handled arrangements.

THOMAS E. BITNER
Thomas E. Bitner, 46, of Loysville died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was a mechanic for Defense Distribution Region East, Fairview Twp.; attended Middletown Area High School; was an Air Force veteran; and a member of Middletown American Legion Post 594 and the Marysville Firemen's bowling team in the West Shore Firemen's League at Trindle Bowl, Mechanicsburg.
Surviving are his parents, Earl G. and Betty Bitner of Middletown; and four sisters, Gloria A. Bennis of Laurel, Md., Earla L. Shay of Loysville, Sandra E. deChamplain of Marysville and Carol Lynn Congrove of Worthington, Ohio.
Services were held Jan. 27 in Geigle Funeral Home, Harrisburg. Burial was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

TERRY L. BEASOM
Terry L. "Boo" Beasom, 39, of Thompsontown died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999 in Lewistown Hospital.
He was born Nov. 30, 1959 in Lewistown.
He had worked for Hinkle and McCoy in York, The Sled Works in Duncannon and Specialty Bakers, Marysville; attended East Juniata High School; a member of Thompsontown United Methodist Church and Thompsontown Fire Company; and enjoyed fishing, building models and repairing radios.
Surviving are a companion, Shirley Kauffman; his parents, Robert J. and Ethel I. Swartz Beasom of Thompsontown; a brother, Robert E. of McAlisterville RR 1; two sisters, Tammy Brown of Millerstown RR 1 and Sue Prye of Mifflintown RR 4; and his paternal grandmother, Mary E. Leister Beasom of Millerstown RR 1.
Services were held Jan. 22 in Sheaffer Funeral Home, McAlisterville, with pastor Charles A. Sheaffer officiating. Burial was in Lost Creek Mennonite Cemetery, Mifflintown RR 2.

WILLIAM BROUGHTON SR.
William M. Broughton Sr., 60, of Youngs Church Road, Shermans Dale, died Sunday, July 4, 1999 at home.
He retired from Roadway Motor Freight and was a member of Enola Sportsmen's Club.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn F. Broughton; two sons, William Jr. of Dillsburg and James P. of Korea; a stepson, Jack R. Miller of Shermans Dale; two brothers, Delbert of Johnstown and Don of Ohio; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services were held July 9 in Richardson Funeral Home, Enola.

WILLIAM E. BARRICK SR.
William E. Barrick Sr., 73, of Mechanicsburg died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999 in Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born May 13, 1926 at Carlisle RR to the late Ellis and Chloe (Marquart) Barrick.
He retired as a welder from Pennsy Supply; was an Army veteran of the Korean War; a member of Young's United Methodist Church, Shermans Dale; and an avid jewelry maker.
Surviving are his wife, Marian E. Barrick; a son, William E. Jr. of Phoenixville; five brothers, Ralph L. of Rice Lake, Wis., Richard L. of Mechanicsburg, Henry H. of Carlisle, Glenn E. of Lake Butler, Fla., and Harold L. of Shermans Dale; three sisters, Arlene Kitchens of Windsor, S.C., Evelyn Hetrick of Mesa, Ariz., and Elinor Hetrick of Ray City, Ga.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 29 in his church with the Rev. R. Bruce Woolever officiating. Burial was in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill.
Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, handled arrangements.

MAURICE L. BRUBAKER
Maurice Lester Brubaker, 66, of Liverpool RR 1 died Saturday, June 19, 1999 at home.
He was born Aug. 10, 1932 in Danville to the late Jay M. and Romaine (Aucker) Brubaker.
He was former owner/operator of Brubaker's Amoco Station, Liverpool, and retired in 1995 from Hempt Brothers, Camp Hill; a Korean War veteran; and a member of Liverpool Fire Company and Verdilla U.C.C. Church, Selinsgrove RR 3.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Norma E. Wimmer Brubaker; two daughters, Patricia Codman of Newport and Linda Collette of Duncannon; two brothers, Lewis of Liverpool and Ralph of Florida; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Brubaker.
Services were held June 22 in Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, with the Rev. Alan Foor officiating. Burial was in Verdilla U.C.C. Cemetery.

FLOYD W. CLARK
Floyd W. "Bud" Clark, 69, of Sunbury Street, Millerstown, died Sunday, June 20, 1999 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
He was born Jan. 8, 1930 in Williamsport to the late Floyd W. and Sadie (Dorman) Clark.
He retired as an aeronautics engineer from Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio; had worked at White Sands Proving Grounds, N.M., and Olmsted Air Force Base, Middletown; was an Army veteran; a graduate of Penn State University; and enjoyed hunting, fishing and airplanes.
Surviving are two sisters, Gayle Johns Weigle of Millerstown and June C. Burtch of Columbus, Ohio; three nieces; two nephews; five great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
Services were held June 23 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Ray Hatcher officiating. Burial was in Hill Methodist Church Cemetery, Watts Twp.

DAVID C. CHRISTIE
David C. Christie, 38, of Centre Road, Newport, died Monday, June 28, 1999 as the result of a traffic accident in Buffalo Twp.
He was born April 24, 1961 in Harrisburg.
He was an employee of Hawkeye Fleet Services, Plainfield; a former employee of Hempt Bros. Inc., Camp Hill; a coach in the Newport Little League Baseball Association; attended Bucks United Methodist Church; a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society of Harrisburg Area Community College, the Oriental Sportsmen's Club and Teamsters Local 776, Harrisburg; and enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball and car racing.
Surviving are his wife, Rebecca L. Christie; a son, Herbert B. Lindsey, at home; his parents, David B. and Judith Christie of New Cumberland; a brother, Craig D. of Lewisberry; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crisp of Camp Hill.
Services were held July 2 in Bucks Church with the Rev. David Arnold officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Twp.
Myers Funeral Home, Newport, handled arrangements.

AARON K. COCKLEY
Aaron Kurtz Cockley, 80, of Landisburg RR 1 died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999 at home.
He was born Oct. 11, 1919 in Susquehanna Twp., Dauphin County, to the late Aaron and Nellie Mae (Karns) Cockley.
He was a retired salesman for the former Beechnut Foods of New York; a 1938 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and a graduate of Central Penn Business School; a Navy veteran of World War II; a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Monroe Twp., Cumberland County, and VFW Post 6704, American Legion Post 109 and Eureka Lodge 302, all of Mechanicsburg.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Dautrich Cockley; two sons, Kurtz R. of Landisburg, Kent C. of Murrysville and Steven J. of Shermans Dale; four daughters, Karen D. Cockley of Middletown, Sandra D. Wilson of Millerstown, Linda S. Cockley of Springfield and Debra A. Cockley of Dillsburg; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 10 in Cocklin Funeral Home, Dillsburg, with the Rev. Anne K. Myers officiating.
