Dan was born in Lewistown to the late Daniel M. and Anna M. (Singley) Mowery, Sr. His wife of 55 years, Genevieve E. (Dixon) Mowery Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">passed away on Dec. 15, 2000. His brother Marlin E. Mowery also pre-deceased him.
Dan was a 1939 graduate of Lewistown High School, he was a Staff Sgt. in the U.S. AIR Force during WW II, he was a freight conductor of Conrail for 30 years, a member of Seller Senior Center, the Brandywine Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a 50 year member of the Mount Akra Lodge and Lewistown Royal Arch Chapter of the Masons.
Dan is survived by his son, Daniel M. Mowery, III and wife Amy of Panama City, Fla.; his daughter Cynthia A. McGivney and husband Kevin of Wilmington; four sisters: Janice Johnson, Alma Hartzler, Jean Miller and Leona Wolf all of Lewistown; one sister-in-law, Marie N. Mowery of Wilmington; five grandchildren: Robert McGivney, Daniel Mowery, IV, Amanda Hamilton, Shea McGivney, and Eric Mowery and three great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dan’s Life celebration from 11:30 to 12 noon on Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, followed by his funeral service at 12 noon at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3597 W. Main St., Belleville. Interment will follow in Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dan’s name to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read’s Way, Ste. 205, New Castle, DE 19720-9819

Laura B. Wagner

MIFFINTOWN - Laura B. Wagner, 67, of Mifflintown RR 2 Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">died at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Harrisburg Hospital.
Born July 24, 1937, in Centre Hall, she was a daughter of Harriet (Immel) Brown of Mifflintown R.R. 2 and the late William Brown. Her husband, Kenneth R. Wagner, whom she married Dec. 26, 1959 survives.
Also surviving are one son, Mark “Frank” Franklin Wagner and wife Sandy, Mifflintown; one daughter, Melissa E. “Missy” Waite and husband Tim, McAlisterville; three brothers and three sisters, Robert L. Brown, New Lenox, IL, Carol B. Lennon, Churchville, David R. Brown and Dina B. Zug, both of Mifflintown RR 2, Noreen B. Thomas, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Ralph C. Brown, Mechanicsburg; and three grandchildren, Brandon Wagner, Adam Waite, and Sara Wagner.

She was a 1956 graduate of State College Area High School. She had been a waitress at Stop 35 for 27 years and was a past supervisor. She was an active member of Centre Lutheran Church where she was in the Women’s Bible Class, the Financial Secretary, and former council member and superintendent of the primary department. She participated in the Crop Walk and was a member of Walker Grange No. 786.
She was devoted to her grandchildren and attended all their ball games and activities. She also enjoyed reading and going on vacations.
Her funeral will be at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 27, at Centre Lutheran Church with Rev. Louise Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in the Adams Cemetery. Friends may call at the church Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Centre Lutheran Church, R.R. 2, Box 165, Mifflintown PA 17059 or to the Thompsontown Ambulance, P.O. Box 78, Thompsontown, PA 17094.

Richard Paul McKnight

Born April 12, 1935, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Merle B. McKnight and the late Ruth A. (Goss) McKnight Young.
He is survived by: siblings, John W. McKnight and wife Patricia of Lewistown, Mary Ann Young of Asheville, N.C., Jean Ocker of Center Valley, Pa.; nephew John W. McKnight Jr. and wife Julie of Tacoma, Wash; and niece Ellie Wade and husband Tige of Burnham.
He was a 1953 graduate of the Milton Hershey School, Hershey.
He was a member of the U.S. Army.
He retired in 1996 with 27 years of service for General Electric Life and Annuities.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Lewistown and a former church deacon and Sunday school class teacher.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. M. Leslie Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Mount Rock Cemetery, Lewistown. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Charles H. Hearn

M. Stanley Swartz

Born May 17, 1921 in Monroe Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Banks L. and Dora (Barner) Swartz. His wife, Miriam (Ferster) Swartz, whom he married on Nov. 23, 1945, survives.
Also surviving are four sons, David S. Swartz and wife Linda, Chambersburg, Daniel E. Swartz and wife Patricia, Philip D. Swartz and wife Carol and Stephen D. Swartz and wife Denise, all of Tallahassee, FL; three brothers, Lloyd Swartz, Pittsburgh and Barner Swartz and Byron Swartz, both of Millerstown; two sisters, Ruth Swartz, Richfield and Shirley Sheaffer, Mt. Pleasant Mills; and eight grandchildren.
He was a 1939 graduate of Liverpool High School, a 1950 graduate of Bucknell University with a BS in Elementary Education and a 1957 graduate of Penn State University with a Master's of Education.
He retired on May 27, 1983 with 34 years of service after having taught in the Juniata County School District since 1947 and in his early career he had taught at Liverpool for seven years.
He was a member of the Richfield Mennonite Church, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and as a Deacon for nine years. He was also a member of the Juniata County Chapter of Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, and the State Association of Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, Gideon’s International and he had served on the Board of Directors for Montrose Bible Conference.s
He loved traveling, especially to Alaska, playing golf with his sons and doing crossword puzzles.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003 from the Richfield Mennonite Church, with Pastor Jerry R. O’Connell officiating. Interment will follow in the Richfield Union Cemetery, Richfield.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the church.

Alexis Marie Knepp

Also surviving are maternal grandparents, James Robert and Therese E. Bassler Jr., Lewistown; paternal grandparents, James Knepp, McAlisterville and Linda Newman, Middleburg; and paternal great-grandparent, Ruth Knepp, McAlisterville.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the alter at Shade Gap Mountain, McAlisterville with Rev. John White officiating.

Sylvester ‘Russell’ Ritter

Born April 11, 1935 in Milroy, he was a son of the late Sylvester Joseph and Esther B. (Baumgardner) Ritter. His wife, Phyllis J. (McMillin) Ritter, whom he married on April 2, 1961, survives.
Also surviving are children Rusty J. Ritter, Randy J. Ritter and Ricky J. Ritter, all of McClure and Nancy J. Ritter and Dianne M. Ritter, both of Lewistown; siblings Anna Ritter, Virginia Gingerich and William Ritter, all of Yeagertown, Charles Ritter and Dennis Ritter, both of New Jersey, Peggy Ritter, James Ritter, Daniel Ritter, Shirley LeFevre, Jackie Zimmerman and Anna Lee Zimmerman, all of Lewistown, and Pat Rhodes of Willow Hill; and one granddaughter.

Fae I. Bigelow
BURNHAM - Fae I. Born Oct. 1, 1930 in Burnham, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Dorothy M. (Nearhoof) Bigelow.
Surviving is a son, William Russell Bigelow, II, of 525 Freedom Ave., Burnham and a grandson, William Russell Bigelow, III.
She was a secretary for thirty-one-and-a-half years at Noerr Motor Freight, Inc., Warner-Lewis Buick for four years and at Carpet World for four years.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Burnham for 56 years and was currently a member of Walnut St., United Methodist Church. She was treasurer for the church for 26 years.
She was also treasurer of the Newton Fire Company Auxiliary for 26 years, a member of the Burnham High School Alumni Association and served on the Burnham Borough Sewer Authority.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham, with Rev. Larry K. Lutz officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Sinclair, both of southern MD; siblings Louretta Walker, Milroy, Thomas Aumiller, Lewistown and Edwin C. Aumiller, Edinsburg, VA; 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He is also survived by three sons and their spouses/companions: James A. Kulp, Jr., and companion, Theresa Michaels, Lewistown, Leon E. Kulp and wife, Lori, Lewistown, and Ronald C. Kulp, Lewistown; two siblings, Darlington R. Kulp, Harrisburg, and Mrs. Robert (Marianna) McCartney, Lewistown; and four grandchildren.

He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Bernard Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Lind Memorial Cemetery.
A viewing will be held 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
