She was born June 2, 1929, in Lemoyne, a daughter of the late Dr. Lee M. and Kathryne (Aiken) Esh, of Belleville. Her husband, of 56 years, Charles W. Lennartz, of Lewistown, survives.
Also surviving are, children, Mrs. James W. (Kathy) Spagnoletti, of Mechanicsburg and Michael C. Lennartz, and wife, Barbara, of Lewistown; granddaughter, Mrs. Michael L. (Jennifer) Mitchell, of Milroy; grandsons, Brian J. Spagnoletti, and wife, Lynanne, of New Cumberland, and Joseph J. Spagnoletti, and fiancee, Kristen Moran, of Harrisburg; and three great-grandchildren.
She had a long history in Girl Scouting, a subject very dear to her heart. She became a Girl Scout in 1936, beginning 69 years of service.
She was a troop leader, unit leader and day camp director, progressing on to Mifflin County Council president and executive director. She was a troop leader at the National Senior Roundup, in Vermont, an adult leader for the Wider Opportunity Trip to Europe for Seniors and delegate to several national conventions.
Once Hemlock Girl Scout Council was formed, she was a member of the first council staff as a field director. She was the camp director at camps Barree and Small Valley and assistant camp director at Camp Golden Pond.
She received the Hemlock Award and Thanks Badge, as well as other awards from different area associations in the Hemlock Council.
After retiring, she remained active as a volunteer in several committees and was always eager to be a guest speaker at any function, to stress the importance of providing girls and young women the opportunity to experience the benefits of Girl Scouting.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, with the Rev. John Bateman officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Her visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday, at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, where a Scripture Service will begin at 8:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hemlock Girl Scout Council, 350 Hale Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17105 or Hospice of Central PA, P.O. Box 266, Enola, PA 17025.

Albert V. Attivo

He was born April 14, 1917, in Lewistown, the son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Ascione) Attivo. His wife, Hilda G. (Botteicher) Attivo survives.
Also surviving are children, Terry Attivo, of Burnham and Mary Ann Shifflet, of Harrisburg; siblings, Anne Attivo and Betty McCartney, both of Lewistown, and Helen Dixon, of Endicott, N.Y.; grandchildren, Kelly Plank and Marc Attivo; and great-granddaughter, Brittany Allison.

He was a US Air Force veteran of WWII.
He was employed as a bricklayer at Standard Steel, Burnham, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, a member of VFW Post 7011 and a former member of Moose Lodge 143.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her companion, Steven R. Karstetter; children, David Hetrick, Zack Hetrick and Brandy Carter, all of Lewistown; brothers, Rodger A. Donaldson, of Pittsburgh, and Jeffrey B. Donaldson, of Lewistown; a half-brother, Randy A. Donaldson; and a half-sister, Deborah Rothrock, and husband, Steven, all of Lewistown.
She was employed at Empire Kosher Poultry, Mifflintown and was a member of VFW Post 7011 and American Legion Post 90.
Her service will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown.

Dorothy I. Sassaman

Ross Robert Kirk

Born Dec. 9, 1920, in East Waterford, he was the son of the late Albert and Emmaline (Stitt) Kirk. He is survived by one daughter, Judy Rich, and husband, Joseph, RR 2, Newport, ; one son, Edward R. Kirk, and wife, Victoria, Shermansdale; and five grandchildren, Janet, Joseph and Jessica Rich and Jonathan Kirk.
He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during WW II.
He was a retired planing mill operator for C.A. White Lumber Co., East Waterford.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, in East Waterford, East Waterford Fire Company, the American Veterans Association and a past Democratic committeeman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford with the Rev. Donald Walters officiating. Interment will be in the East Waterford Cemetery with military honors provided by the Juniata Co. Veterans Council.
There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services, Thursday at the church .

L. Cline Wirt

He is survived by four children, Betty J. Wirt, Flo Yocum, and husband, Terry, and Donald L. Wirt, and wife Sheree, all of RR 2, Thompsontown and Glen C. Wirt, and wife S. Jane, RR 1, Port Royal ; one brother, J. Howard “Tex” Wirt, RR 2, Thompsontown and five grandchildren.

He was a member of the Locust Run United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, coon hunting, and fishing.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Locust Run United Methodist Church with the Rev. Maureen Wagner officiating. Interment will be in Locust Run Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown and from 10 a.m. until the time of the services, Friday, at the church .

Julia Mae Glasser

She was born Aug. 30, 1914, in Lewistown, the daughter of the late Foster and Julia (Riden) Heimbach.
She is survived by a son, Leonard Falcone, of Irvine, Ky.

Kenneth E. Spigelmyer

He was born Oct. 5, 1937, in Lewistown, the son of the late Clarence W. and Marguerite G. (Gruver) Spigelmyer. His wife, Sandra L. (Haubrick) Spigelmyer, whom he married Sept. 18, 1959, survives.
Also surviving, are a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Karen S.) Goss, of Belleville; a brother, Clarence W. Spigelmyer Jr., of Las Vegas, Nev.; a nephew, whom he helped raise, Paul Spigelmyer; and a granddaughter, Kayla M. Goss.

He was a member of the PA Army National Guard 112th Infantry division for 41 years.
He was a member of the Salvation Army and the Lewistown Moose Family Center. He enjoyed going to flea markets, auctions, bowling and spending time with family and friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
His funeral service will be held at 8:30 p.m. today, at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Max Zook officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana, with the Maj. Mark Mackneer officiating.
His family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. today, until the time of the service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 9 S. Dorcas St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Lee H. Leister
MCALISTERVILLE - Lee H. Leister, 87, of RR2, McAlisterville, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">died at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2005, at the Brookline Manor, RR1, Mifflintown.
Born Feb. 9, 1918, in Cocolamus, Juniata County, a son of the late Irvin and Mabel (Shellenberger) Leister. His wife, of nearly 65 years, Verna A. (Auker) Leister, whom he married on Sept. 21, 1940, survives him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two daughters, Lorene L. Scholl and husband, Stephen, RR2, McAlisterville, and Gayle M. Ulsh and husband, H. Thomas, Millerstown; one sister, Thelma Fogleman, McAlisterville; and two grandchildren, Ginger Scholl and H. Lee Ulsh.

He was an auto/tractor mechanic and bulk milk tank installer, and along with his brother Blair, he owned and operated Leister Ford, McAlisterville, and Leister Motor Company International Harvester Dealership, McAlisterville, which they sold in 1973. Lee continued to work for the following owners for another 20 years, before retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the Richfield Mennonite Church, Richfield.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed playing golf, but singing and listening to music were his greatest joys.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2005, from the McAlisterville Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with the Pastor Jerry R. O’Connell and Rev. Forrest Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.
A viewing will be held from 1:30 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and request that memorial donations may be made to: the Richfield Mennonite Church, C/O Mission Fund, P.O. Box 246, Richfield, PA 17086.

Melissa M. Lane
NEWTOWN HAMILTON - Melissa M. “Rea-Rea” Lane, 20, of P.O. In addition to her parents, she is survived by siblings, Sandra L. Lane, of Port Royal, James E. Lane, and wife, Diane, of Little Greenbriar, Pa., Jody L. Atherton, Jason P. Lane and Nicole D. Lane, all of Newton Hamilton; and maternal grandparents, Clay and Gloria Sunderland, of RD 1, Mount Union.

Melrose E. Florio

She was born Jan. 20, 1919, in Mamaroneck, N.Y., the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Peters) Aitchison. Her husband, James A. Florio, whom she married Dec. 14, 1939, preceded her in Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">death May 30, 2001.
Surviving are children, M. Patricia Arnone, Plantation, Fla., and Ann M. Florio, Lewistown; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Barr Funeral Home Inc., 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Linda Fultz officiating. She will be interred with her husband at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta, Maine.
The viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
