COLONIAL PARK - Geraldine M. She was the wife of the late Edward R. Peirson.
Mrs. Peirson was born March 6, 1915, in Harrisburg. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Wallower) Snyder.
She graduated from Susquehanna Township High School. She served as a bookkeeper for The National Bank of Penbrook and later worked for Black and Decker Corp., also as a bookkeeper. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Penbrook. Mrs. Peirson enjoyed spending her time gardening, traveling and sharing plenty of time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Peirson is survived by three sons, the Rev. Ronald E. Peirson of Jacobus, Pa., Arthur E. Peirson of Penbrook and Kenneth M. Peirson of Harrisburg; seven grandchildren, Irene V. Dineen of Chicago, Ill.; Edward K. Peirson of San Diego, Calif.; Kimberly S. Peirson-Hirezi of Huntington Beach, Calif.; Michael E. Peirson of Villas, N.J.; Jennifer S. Peirson of Lititz, Pa. and Christina Peirson and Jessica L. Peirson both of Harrisburg; seven great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Betty Shelly, of New Cumberland, Pa.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church 2730 Booser Ave., (Penbrook) Harrisburg. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Shoop's Cemetery Garden of Rest. Officiating at the service will be her pastor, the Reverend Elizabeth L. Polanzke. The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center Inc. of Mount Wolf, Pa., has been entrusted with the arrangements.
The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church 2730 Booser Ave. Harrisburg, Pa., 17103.

Samuel A. 'Sam' Koppenhaver

Born August 8, 1919, in Fermanagh Twp., Juniata County, he was a son of the late Ralph A. and Edith A. (Warner) Koppenhaver. His wife, Elizabeth C. He is survived by a daughter, Anna Marie Peck and her husband Donald E., Mifflintown; a son, Paul R. Koppenhaver and his wife Cathy, Mercer, Pa.; four grandchildren, David L. Peck, Donna M. Watts, Michael L. Peck and Paula K. Jones; and two great- grandsons, Austin S. Peck and Alec J. Watts.

He was a W.W. II U.S. Army veteran.
He was an avid outdoorsman, having enjoyed both hunting and fishing.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, from the Mifflintown Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Kenneth R. Kitzmiller officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. until time of the service Monday at the funeral home.

LEWISTOWN - Samuel P. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Barr Funeral Home's temporary location on the corner of Third and Juniata streets, Lewistown, with the Rev. Richard Bender officiating. Interment will follow at Mattawana Cemetery.
There will be no public viewing.

She is also survived by her maternal grandmother Sue Knepp and maternal grandfather Robert E. Carolus of 508 Market St., Port Royal, and her maternal great-grandmother, Judy Colyer of Mechanicsburg; aunts and uncles, Mrs. James (Mindy) Hackney of Lewistown, Cassandra Brown and John Allen of Port Royal and Mr. and Mrs. Darron Shearer, Mexico, Pa.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor John Walters officiating.

Dr. Eleanor M. Aurand

LEWISTOWN - Dr. Eleanor M. Born Nov. 7, 1923 in Granville Township, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Fern Randolph and Sara Grace (Moore) Aurand.
She is survived by: brother, James M. Aurand, Lewistown; sister, Doris Gabel, Parksburg, Pa.; sister-in-law, Vesta M. Aurand, Lewistown; and seven nieces and nephews.

She graduated from: Lewistown High School in1941; the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing in 1944; the Pennsylvania State University, with a B.S. in pre-medicine, in 1947; and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia in 1951. From 1951 to 1952 she did a rotating internship at Harrisburg Hospital and was a general resident at the Lewistown Hospital 1952-53. She did her pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh 1960-62.
Dr. Aurand operated a solo general practice in Lewistown from 1953 to 1960, a solo pediatric practice in Lewistown from 1962 to 1983 and then practiced with the Geisinger Medical Group in Lewistown, Department of Pediatrics from 1983 to 1987.
She was affiliated with the Lewistown Hospital general practice from 1953 to 1960 and the Lewistown Hospital Department of Pediatrics from 1962 to 1987. She was certified with the American Board of Pediatrics on Dec. 8, 1963 and re-certified on May 9, 1986.
She was a Fellow, American Academy of Pediatrics on Oct. 21, 1964. She was a member of: the American Medical Association, where she received the Physician's Recognition Award; the Pennyslvania Medical Society; the Mifflin-Juniata County Medical Society; and the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
She also was a member of: the Ellen Chapel Church; Soroptomists International of Lewistown; a member and past president of the Mifflin County Historical Society; the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army of Lewistown; the American Association of University Women; and the Fort Granville Grange.
Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Ellen Chapel Church, Ferguson Valley Rd., Lewistown, with Pastor Mark Hill officiating. Interment will be in Mount Rock Cemetery. The viewing will be 6-9 p.m. Saturday, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

Beatrice I. Laubach

MIFFLINTOWN, Beatrice 'Bea' I. Laubach, 80, of Mifflintown, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus at 5:02 p.m. on Tuesday Sept. 28, 2004, at her residence with family members in attendance.
Born Jan. 2, 1924, in Brainards, N.J., she was the daughter of the late John B. and Helen (Cressman) Clark. Her husband, Ralph A. Laubach, whom she married on Dec.12, 1942, survives.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by one son, R. Robert Laubach and wife, Donna, Mifflintown, three daughters, Janet E. Karpenko and husband, Lyle, RR 2, McAlisterville, Judy A. Pettit and husband, Ellsworth, Agate, CO, Rebecca 'BJ' Hearn and husband, Douglas, Reedsville, one sister, Genevieve May, Las Vegas, Nev., two brothers, Earl John Clark, Columbia, NJ, James Clark, Easton, Pa., seven grandchildren, Jeremy Pettit, Lisa Karpenko Rollins, Timothy Laubach, Stephen Laubach, Stacy Karpenko Hunt, Emily Laubach, Andrew Hern, one great-granddaughter, Brianna Pettit and many nieces and nephews.

She was the vice president/treasurer and co-founder of Laubach Saw Equipment Corp. and Keystone Stihl, Inc. and was active in the business for nearly 40 years.
She was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Mifflintown, where she was a Pathfinder Leader and Treasurer for many years. Through the church, she became the adopted mother and grandmother to church-sponsored Cambodian refugee family LyMeng and Sareth Tan and their five children: Savy, LyVouch, LyNirith, Michael, and LyNary. She was happy to include their two spouses and four children in her family also.
She was very active as a community services worker, helping and being involved with people as well as providing taxi services for friends and family. She loved traveling, cooking, sewing and camping. She was a deeply religious woman who now awaits the second coming of Jesus.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, from the Mifflintown Chapel, of Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, with Pastor Donald F. Ehrlich officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Run Cemetery, RR 1, Thompsontown.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service, Sunday, at the funeral home.

Ivy C. (Yoder) Johns

LEWISTOWN - Ivy C. (Yoder) Johns, 89, a resident of Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin, and formerly of Lewistown RD2, went to be with her Savior on Friday, Oct. 29, 2004.
She was a daughter of the late Franklin and Nannie (Renninger) Yoder of Pine Glen, and was the widow of Samuel C. Johns, who Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">died in 1955.
Surviving are: a son, Donald C. Johns of Port Royal; a daughter, Bonnie C., wife of Glenn A. Ganoe of Grantham; and a granddaughter, Shannon K. Ganoe of Charlotte, N. C.
Also surviving: a sister, Mrs. Raymond (Alice) Smith of Black Log, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lloyd Laverne Wertz

Born July 6, 1930 in Mifflin County, he was a son of the late William Boyd and Esther (Harshbarger) Wertz. His wife, Violet E. Hardy, whom he married Aug. 12, 1950 in Hagerstown Md., survives.
Also surviving are: children, Stanley D. Wertz and wife Debbie, Constance G. Stimely and husband John, all of McVeytown, Denise K. Leonard and husband Tom, Yeagertown, Jeffrey A.Wertz, Newtown Hamilton, and Darryl T. Wertz and wife Traci, McVeytown; siblings, Roy Wertz and wife Peg, McVeytown, Harold Wertz and wife Dawn, Glennsferry, Idaho, Ruth Sunderland, Newton Hamilton, and Betty Cramer and husband Clarence, Three Springs; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.

He was a lifetime resident of Mifflin County and was at his Wayne Township home for the past 42 years. He retired in 1993 from Kaplan Trucking Company where he was an over-the-road truck driver. He had also driven for a number of other companies.
He was a member of the Huntingdon Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and preaching.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehova's Witnesses, Route 26 North, Huntingdon, with Robert Myers officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
