She was 82.
Lucy was born January 4, 1922 in Mercer, Pa. to Isabelle Brest Douds and John Douds. She was a descendant of prominent Civil War heroes and the renowned circuit riding Methodist minister Reverend Robert R. Roberts. Roberts was the founder of many churches in the Erie Circuit that included Eastern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania and the West Virginia area.
Lucy, who was raised on a farm and in a family of educators, also attended the Mercer school system and later completed studies pertaining to various areas of Christian ministry.
Lucy worked at Greenville Steel Car and later the National Malleable in Sharon before marrying her husband James Richard Black on the first day of spring March 20, 1946. Before retiring, he worked as a truck driver for the City of Sharon for 31 years and preceded her in Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">death on December 20, 1987.
Lucy, who had a loving and youthful innocence, enjoyed children, animals, flowers, cooking and the sweet simple things in life. She loved her Savior Jesus Christ and his work first, loved her family and was very kind to everyone, always having a smile and a good word to share. She was involved in and faithfully supported many national ministries and missionary outreaches. She had great compassion for all that were hurting and in need and would often give of her own substance even if it meant that she herself would have to go without.

In 1962 he founded Bish Corporation, a wholesale distributor of kitchen equipment, which he sold in 1974 but continued to serve part time as vice president until January 1985. Active in church and community affairs he served two terms on Greenville Borough Council and was a member of the Greenville Rotary Club for over fifty years. He was the chairman for many years of the Rotary sale of Claxton fruit cakes during the holiday season and served on the administrative board of the United Way of Mercer County. He enjoyed golfing, square dancing, bowling and traveling.
