Grace Leona (Flanders) Tuttle, 80, of 46 Harvey Road, Middletown, died Friday, April 26, 2002, at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of the late William Earl Tuttle. Born in Hillsboro, N.H., on Sept. 27, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Carleton W. and Mary (Whitney) Flanders. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Tuttle was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 122 in Warren and was past president, past district president and past state historian for the organization. She was an avid bingo player and had been a volunteer for the American International Little League. She leaves four sons, Peter A. Tuttle, William Tuttle Jr. and Donald J. Sullivan, all of Middletown, and Michael A. Tuttle of Rocky Hill, Conn.; three daughters, Grace L. Homen of Middletown, Jane M. Clarke of Portsmouth, and Barbara Fales of Antrim, N.H.; two sisters, Ruth Feeney of Bristol, Conn., and Edith Clark of Littleton, N.H., and 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was a sister of the late Howard and Warren Flanders. Her funeral was held Wednesday, May 1, at Memorial Funeral Home, Newport. Burial was in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown.

Ralph J. Boardman, 102, of Hooper Street, Tiverton, did Thursday, April 25, 2002, at Sarah Brayton Nursing Care Center. He was the husband of the late Noella (Demeule) Heroux-Boardman and the late Rose (Kearns) Boardman.

Josephine P. Sousa, 88, of 67 Lepes Road, Tiverton, died Friday, April 26, 2002, at Epoch in Norton, Mass. She was the wife of the late Leonard N. Sousa and Joseph Carreira. Born in Tiverton, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Sczuska) Gancarski. Mrs. Sousa was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church in Tiverton. She leaves a daughter, Karen J. Dillon of Taunton, Mass, and four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Ronald R. Carreira, and sister of the late Mary Simpson, Adeline O'Donnell, Anna Gancarska and Augustine and Michael Gancarski. Her funeral is today, May 2, at 10 a.m. from Boyko Memorial Funeral Home, 709 Broadway, Fall River, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church on Judson Street. She will be buried in Pocasset Hill Cemetery.

Funeral services for Jesse R. Sousa were held Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, from the Sansone Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Elizabeth's Church. The Rev. Thomas J. Ferland was the celebrant and homilist for the Mass. Henry "Gunga" Sousa and Mary E. Vincent, Mr. Sousa's brother and sister, presented offertory gifts. Robert J. Vincent, Jeffrey M. Sousa, Kenneth J. Sousa, Donald A. Bisbano, Bruce W. Bisbano and James J. Velleca Jr. were pallbearers. Mr. Sousa, 70, the son of the late Jesse R. and Rose (Costa) Sousa, of 31 Catherine St., died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at his lifelong home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth's Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol, RI, 02809.

Lucinda Sousa of Hope Street, Bristol, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at Evergreen house, East Providence. She was the wife of the late Manuel Sousa. Born in Bristol, she was a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Virginia (Silvia) Toste. She was a lifelong Bristol resident. Mrs. Sousa was a stitcher for Miner Industries for 40 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality of St. Elizabeth church in Bristol. She leaves a son, Manuel Charles Sousa of Bristol; a brother, George F. Toste of Barrington; and four sisters, Virginia Chauvin of Warren, Guihmar Dias of Fall River, and Helen August and Sarah T. Amaral, both of Bristol. She was a sister of the late Joseph and John Toste and Theodore August. Her funeral will be on Thursday, Oct. 17, from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., Bristol, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St. She will be buried in St. Mary Cemetery in Bristol.

Maria G. (Toste) Sousa, 82, of San Jose Drive, died Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at Silver Creek Manor. She was the wife of Joao C. deSousa. Born in Terceira, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Palmeida (Lopes) Toste. A homemaker, Mrs. Sousa lived in Bristol for 27 years, moving here from the Açores at 55. She leaves two sons, Antonio Sousa of Fall River and Manuel Sousa of Warren; four daughters, Arnalda Pontes, Fatima Toste, Lucia Reis, and Fernanda Simoes, all of Bristol; two sisters, Silvina Veira and Irmenegilde Anddre, both of Terceira, Açores; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Maria G. Sousa were held Saturday, Nov. 9, from the George C. Lima Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Elizabeth Church. The celebrant of the Mass was the Rev. Fernando Cabral. Lina Sousa and Carla Reis were readers for the Mass. Antonio Sousa and Arnalda Pontes presented gifts. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery where Rev. Cabral offered the committal prayers. Bobby Sousa, Ricardo Simoes, Corey Pontes, Cliff Reis, George Toste and Charlie Toste were pallbearers.

Pearl A. (Sullivan) Harvey, 84, of Silver Creek Manor, Bristol, and formerly of Benjamin Church Manor, Bristol, died Monday, April 22, 2002, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of the late Frank C. Harvey. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late William and Mary Sullivan, she was a Bristol resident for 12 years, having previously resided in Warren. She was an optical machine operator for Lornett Co. in East Providence before retiring in 1977. Mrs. Harvey was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Bristol and a member of the Benjamin Church Manor Association. She leaves a daughter, June M. Ferreira of Warren; three grandsons, Michael J. Ferreira of North Dartmouth, Mass., David J. Ferreira of Warren and Steven J. Ferreira of Bristol; and a great-grandson, Benjamin M. Ferreira. Funeral services were Thursday, April 25, from Sansone Funeral Home, Bristol, with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary's Church. Burial followed in North Burial Ground, Bristol. Beatrice (Carreiro) Rego, 88, of Meadow Lane, Bristol, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at Crestwood Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Christopher E. Rego.

Jesse A. St. Ours
Funeral services for Jesse A. St. Ours were held Friday March 1, from Sansone Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Elizabeth's Church. The Rev. Thomas J. Ferland was the celebrant and homilist for the Mass. Rachel M. Miranda and Emily Eastwood were the readers. Emily Eastwood and Linda St. Ours presented the offertory gifts. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, where Father Ferland read the committal prayers. Serving as pallbearers were Manuel Reis, John F. Miranda, Paul Ferreira, John C. Ferreira, Michael Moran, Michael P. Carbone Jr., John M. Almeida and Paul S. Mello. The faculty, staff and students of Jesse's eighth-grade class at Kickemuit Middle School served as honorary bearers. Jesse, 15, of Warren died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence. He was the son of William E. St. Ours Jr. and the late Renee St. Ours.

Robert H. Cochrane

Robert Hall Cochrane, 83, of Jacksonville, Fla. and formerly of Barrington, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at home. He was the husband of Virginia (Burleigh) Cochrane; they had been married for 61 years. Born in Barrington, Mr. Cochrane was a son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Cochrane. He was a member of Ortega Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville and the BPOE Jacksonville Lodge 221. Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Bruce Cochrane of Bristol, Richard Cochrane of East Providence, Robert Cochrane of Falmouth, Mass., and Brian Cochrane of Crystal River, Fla.; a daughter, Marcia Cochrane Hahn of Jacksonville, and 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 10 at 2 p.m. in Ortega Presbyterian Church. Burial will be private.

Elizabeth (Barboza) Carvara, 81, formerly of Highview Avenue, Warren, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at Evergreen House Health Center in East Providence. She was the wife of the late Jesse S. Carvara. Born in Bristol, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Enos) Barboza. She had lived in Warren most of her life after moving from Bristol. Mrs. Carvara was a homemaker. She worked for a time in the factories of former Crown Fastener and R&J Manufacturing in Warren. a She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Warren. She leaves three sons, Jesse Carvara of Riverside, Peter J. Carvara of Overland Park, Kan., and Steven Carvara of Newport; a daughter, Elizabeth "Betty Ann" Cassiere of Riverside; a brother, Peter Barboza of Bristol; four sisters, Adeline Travers, Ethel Marshall and Genvieve Rodrigues, all of Bristol, and May Zinni of Apache Junction, Ariz., and 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Robert Carvara and a sister of the late Angelina Soucy. Her funeral was held yesterday, March 6, from the William J. Smith and Son Funeral Home in Warren, with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
