Donald C. Daly, of the Village at Hillsgrove, treasurer of the former Weybossett Pure Food Markets, died March 26, 2002, at Kent County Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth (Howe) DeNapoli-Williams-Daly, and the late Eleanor (Dolan) Daly. Born in Providence, a son of the late Albert H. and Margaret (Sullivan) Daly, he had lived in Venice, Fla., Cranston and North Kingstown before moving to Warwick nine months ago. Mr. Daly was the treasurer of the former Weybossett Pure Food Markets, of Providence and East Greenwich, before retiring. He was a member and past president of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, a member of the Sons of Irish Kings, and a former member of the Warwick Country Club. Mr. Daly was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe as a lieutenant. He served as a press censor at the Nuremberg War Crimes Tribunals in Germany. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Peggy Daly-Barker of Narragansett; two sons, Donald C. Daly Jr. of Jamestown and Albert H. Daly II of Breckenridge, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Darleen Powers-Johnson of Brookline, Mass., and Lenore O'Hearn Bavota of Forestdale, Mass.; a stepson, Gerard R. DeNapoli of Newtown Square, Pa.; and two granddaughters, Kimberley and Katie Barker. He was the brother of the late Albert H. Daly Jr., Mary-Lil Daly Connors and W. Norbert and Paul F. Daly. The funeral was held from Monahan-Kelly- Drabble-Sherman Funeral Home, 230 Waterman St., Providence, with a funeral liturgy in the Church of St. Sebastian, Cole Avenue, Providence. Janet M. (Law) Clancy, 65, of Warwick Avenue, a retired machine operator, died March 24, 2002, at home. She was the wife of Donald P. Clancy of Warwick and the former wife of Kenneth L. Gorman. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Daniel and Helen (Kelso) Law, she had lived in Warwick all her life. Mrs. Clancy had been a machine operator at Kenney Mfg. Co. for 11 years, until retiring in 1979 because of illness. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Thomas D. Gorman of Brooklyn, Conn., and James H. Gorman of Warwick; two daughters, Linda H. Farias of Swansea and Sandra J. Tucker of Seekonk; a brother, Daniel Law Jr. in Florida; a sister, Gayle Thompson of Mojave, Calif.; and five grandchildren. She was a sister of the late William Law. Raymond L. Poirier Sr., 76, of Andrew Comstock Road, a retired building contractor, died March 25, 2002, at the Hospice By The Sea at Hollywood Medical Center, Hollywood, Fla. He was the husband of Alice L. (Therrien) Poirier. Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Feliza Barney and Eva (Degrenier) Poirier, he had previously lived in Pawtucket for many years. He had been a resident of Warwick for the past 50 years and a winter resident of Hallendale, Fla., for the past 15 years. Mr. Poirier had owned and operated Raise Construction Co. of Pawtucket and Warwick for 20 years, until retiring in 1988. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a life member of Le Foyer Club, Pawtucket, and had been a Cub Scouts volunteer for many years. Mr. Poirier was a member of St. Rose & Clement Parish. He was an avid deep-sea fisherman. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Raymond L. Poirier Jr. of Central Falls; a daughter, Janice P. Newman of Pawtucket; a brother, Robert Poirier of Warwick; a sister, Estelle Clement of Coventry; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Rita Menoche. Alva J. Jordan, 79, of Tidewater Drive, a retired machine operator, died March 25, 2002, at home. She was the wife of the late Herbert D. Jordan Sr. Born in North Adams, Mass., a daughter of the late William and Arvilla (Bingham) Dalgliesh, she had lived in Warwick for most of her life. Mrs. Jordan had been a slitter operator at Lloyd's Mfg. Co. in Warren for 38 years until retiring in 1987, and later had worked as a school lunch aide at Warwick Neck Elementary School. She leaves a daughter, Diann C. Lavigne, a son, Herbert D. Jordan, a sister, Jean Sciamacco, and a brother, William A. Dalgliesh, all of Warwick; and two grandchildren. She was a sister of the late Rachael Russell. A graveside service was held in Pawtuxet Memorial Park.

Marjorie P. Trahan, 75, of Earl Street, a retired typesetter, died March 23, 2002, in Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the wife of Norman J. Trahan Sr. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late George A. and Sadie (Haas) Sullivan, she had lived in Warwick since 1968. Mrs. Trahan was a typesetter at the Warwick Beacon for 10 years, retiring in 1988. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Norman J. Trahan Jr. of East Providence; a daughter, Michele Lynn Trahan, and a sister, Eleanor L. Lawrence, both of Warwick. She was the sister of the late George E. and Robert W. Sullivan, June A. Violet M. Rice, 94, of Cowesett Road, a retired dietary aide and penographer, died March 21, 2002, at Kent County Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Frederick E. Rice. Born in Warwick, a daughter of the late John and Minnie P. (Remington) Tiffany, she was a lifelong resident of Warwick. She was a dietary aide employed by the State of Rhode Island at the former Howard Complex, Cranston, retiring in 1973. She previously was a penographer (someone skilled in cloth detailing) for the former Apponaug Co. for several years. Mrs. Rice was a member of the Quidnessett Grange and Chapter 94 of the Retired State Workers. She leaves two sons, Norman E. Rice of Natick, Mass., and Robert S. Doran of Warwick; two daughters, V. Louise Desrosiers of West Warwick and Shirley V. Sullivan of Charlestown; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Bertha M. Bullock and Olive Essex. The funeral was private.

Mary (Laba) Nakopinski, 88, formerly of Albert Street, died March 21, 2002, at Brentwood Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Frank Nakopinski. Born in Austria, a daughter of the late Thimotheus and Catharina (Wasylyseyn) Laba, she had lived in Warwick since 1944. She leaves a brother, John Laba and his wife, Helen, of Warwick, and several nieces and nephews. Ida Ionata, 89, of Brayton Avenue, died March 20, 2002, at Kent County Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Carmine Ionata. A lifelong resident of Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Luigi and Vincenza (Tedeschi) Polselli. Mrs. Ionata was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, and a member of its St. Ann Sodality, and Senior Citizens Club. She was a member of the Friendly Club in Woonsocket. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Helen Marsocci of Warwick; three sisters, Margaret Perra and Lillian Greco, both of Warwick, and Mary Santilli of Cranston; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Edward Ionata and sister of the late Alec and Joseph Polselli and Anna Lombardi. Mildred L. Duhaime, 91, of Sesame Court, Spring Hill, Fla., formerly of Missouri Drive, Warwick, a retired dietary aide, died January 25, 2002, at home. She was the wife of Joseph S. Duhaime were they married for 68 years. Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Elmer E. and Catherine L. (Marran) Pennoyer, she had lived in Warwick for many years before moving to Florida. Mrs. Duhaime had been a dietary aide at Kent County Memorial Hospital until retiring in 1965, and had previously worked at Martin Copeland Co., East Providence. She had been a volunteer at the Warwick Senior Citizens Center for 15 years and had volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 10 years. Mrs. Duhaime was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church, Spring Hill. She was former communicant of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Altar Guild, church choir and Episcopal Church Women. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Lillian M. McConnell of Spring Hill; a son, David J. Duhaime of Midlothian, Va.; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. She was the sister of the late Catherine L. Shovelton and Joseph E., James E. and William G. Pennoyer. Aniello Oney Malafronte, 88, of Namquid Drive, a retired truck driver, plumber and pipefitter, died January 27, 2002, at home. He had been the husband of the late Dorothy (Knight) Malafronte and the late Mary (Chalko) Malafronte. Born in Bristol, a son of the late Onofrio and Mary (Nappi) Malafronte, he had lived in Providence before moving to Warwick in 1951. Mr. Malafronte had been a truck driver for Curran & Burton Oil Co., Providence, and later for Paragon Oil Co. for many years before retiring 18 years ago. He was a member of Teamsters Local 251. A licensed plumber and pipefitter for more than 50 years before retiring, he also had owned the former Malafronte Plumbing & Heating. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Malafronte was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Warwick Council 2295, and the Warwick Firefighters Association. He leaves a daughter, Joyce M. Hunter, and a son, Roney A. Malafronte, both of Warwick; a sister, Genevieve Malafronte, and a brother, Pasquale Malafronte, both of Bristol; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Frank, Francis and William Malafronte and Jenny Balzano. The funeral service was held in the Peter J. Joseph W. Cardillo, 40, of Towler Shoals Drive, Loganville, Ga., formerly of Warwick, died January 23, 2002, at Eastside Medical Center, Snellville, Ga. He was the husband of Crystal R. (Keel) Cardillo. Born in Warwick, a son of the late Luke L. and Marie (Lackey) Cardillo, he had lived in Georgia for five years, previously living in Warwick most of his life. Mr. Cardillo was an alarm investigator for Anchor Alarm Co. in Georgia for two years and had previously been employed by ADT Alarm, Providence, for 20 years. He was a member of the William Shields American Legion Post 43, Warwick. He was a musician and an avid softball player. Besides his wife, he leaves three brothers, Luke D., Frank A. and Michael R. Cardillo, all of Warwick; three sisters, Cathay Loppi of Scituate, Elizabeth Bessette of Cranston and Rosemary Pappagallo of Warwick; and many nieces and nephews. He was the stepfather of Courtney and Victoria. The funeral was held from Peter J. Joseph A. LeClair, 95, of Fairview Road, a retired truck driver, died January 24, 2002, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of the late Bridget (White) LeClair. Born in Fall River, a son of the late Arthur and Rosalie (Bilodeau) LeClair, he had lived in Providence for 56 years before moving to Warwick two years ago. Mr. LeClair was a truck driver for Paul Arpin Van Lines for many years before retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 251. He leaves two daughters, Eileen Fusco of Warwick and Joan M. LeClair of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral and burial were private.

Eric S. Norell, 83, of Parkside Drive, a retired postal worker, died January 24, 2002, at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Providence, a son of the late Per Erik and Amanda (Shgjron) Norell, he was a lifelong resident of Warwick. Mr. Norell was a worker for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in 1974. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the DAV, the American Legion Pawtucket Post 25, and a lifelong member of the Providence-Cranston Elks Lodge 14. Mr. Norell was also a 32-degree Mason and a member of Nathaniel Greene Lodge 45, F&AM, and a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Providence. He was a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. He leaves a nephew, Robert E. Kilner Sr. of Warwick, and a brother-in-law, Alfred Vickers of Warwick, with whom he lived; two great-nephews and a great-niece. He was the brother of the late Hope G. Kilner and Alice Vickers. Mr. Williams was a coin, stamp and antiques appraiser and dealer at Warwick Associates, which he owned for 30 years. He had been a department manager at Zayre's Corp. for 15 years until 1973. He was the general manager at Butler Shoe Corp., Providence. He was a member of the Rhode Island Philatelic Society, the Civil War Token Society, the Society of Paper Money Collectors, the Check Collectors Round Table, and the Paper Money Collectors and Memorabilia group, and a founding member of the Rhode Island Precious Metals Society. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the William Shields American Legion Post. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Denise E. Fassel of Warwick, with whom he lived, and Patricia A. Shelley of Manheim, Pa.; three sons, Gerald B. Williams of Lititz, Pa., and James E. Williams and Richard L. Mr. Banas was a salesman for General Foods for 40 years, retiring in 1981. He had been a maitre d at the Norwich Inn, Norwich. He was a life member and third degree knight of the Ponemah Council, Knights of Columbus, Taftville, Conn., a life member of the West Warwick Lodge 1697 of Elks, a member of the Toastmasters Club in Norwich, and the North Kingstown Stamp Club. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Nancy Jane Burns of Clinton, Conn.; three sisters, Veronica Beeman and Cecilia O'Neil, both of Norwich, and Theresa Ryan of Boynton Beach, Fla.; two grandsons, Neal and Scott Burns; and a great-granddaughter, Nicole Burns. Dr. Patricia A. O'Shea - 1/25/02
Dr. Patricia A. O'Shea, 57, of Atlanta, formerly of Warwick, died unexpectedly January 25, 2002, at home eight days after undergoing knee surgery. She was the wife of Dr. John S. O'Shea. They had been married for 32 years. Born in Syracuse, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late John D. Allen and Mildred O. Allen. She was a pediatric pathologist at Brown University for 16 years, and at Emory University, Atlanta, for 11 years. She attended LeMoyne College, Syracuse, and received her doctorate in medicine from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. She did her pathology residency at Duke University, Durham, N.C. She was active with the Atlanta Opera and the Atlanta Ballet. She was a gourmet Italian cook, traveled often to Italy and France, loved tennis and was an avid gardener. Besides her husband, she leaves a sister, Suzanne Gibson, and a nephew. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Atlanta. Burial was in Crestlawn Memorial Park, Atlanta.
