HARDEEVILLE - Luther Eddie Day, 46, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center, Savannah.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Sauls Funeral Home, Ridgeland. Burial will be in Purysburg Cemetery, Hardeeville.
A native of Aiken, Mr. Day was a son of Betty Day, Aiken, and the late William Day. He was an owner of Day's Recycling Co.
Mr. Day was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hardeeville.
Survivors include his mother; his wife, Jocelyn Ann Buckner Day; two daughters, Christy Day Morris, Aiken, and Heather Bullard, Hardeeville; one brother, George W. Day, Wagener; three sisters, Pearline Smith, Aiken, Susie Rushton, Ridge Spring, and Sally Bledsoe, Lakeland, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38103.
Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Sauls Funeral Home, Ridgeland.

Marjorie June Brown Kolhek,
retired school secretary
Marjorie June Brown Kolhek, 80, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Pepper Hill Nursing Home, 3525 Augustus Road.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Shellhouse Funeral Home.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Kolhek was a retired school secretary.
She was the wife of the late Theodore A. Kolhek.
Survivors include two sons, William Gassman, Aiken, and Theodore A. Kolhek, Sante Fe, N.M.; one sister, Mabel Brickley, West Palm Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Howard J. Brown, Aiken, and William H. Brown, Connecticut; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1003 Hammond Road, Aiken 29803.

Robert Henry Barnwell Sr.,

ROCKY MOUNT, VA. - Funeral services for Robert Henry Barnwell Sr. will be held Monday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. at the Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Rocky Mount, Va. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Park.
Mr. Barnwell died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, of cancer.
Friends may call at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, followed by a rosary service at 4 p.m.
Stanfield Mortuary Service, Rocky Mount, is in charge of arrangements.

Marie D. Dunbar
JACKSON - Marie D. Dunbar, of Foreman Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at University Hospital in Augusta.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Park Baptist Church in Jackson. The Rev. Alex Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of Barnwell, Mrs. Dunbar was a member of Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Edna (Warren) Aaron of Jackson; two sons, Fred B. (Mildred) Dunbar and Lawrence F. (Alma) Dunbar, both of Jackson; a sister, Clara B. Anderson of Martin; a brother, Charles Foreman of Martin; a daughter-in-law, Isabell Dunbar of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mary Dunbar of Jacksonville and Susie Dunbar of Augusta; a brother-in-law, Jessie Dunbar of Aiken; a devoted friend, Margarie Johnson of Aiken; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Harvey Fox
WEST COLUMBIA - A private memorial service for Harvey Dandrew Fox, 86, will be held at the family residence at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the SC-ETV, 1101 George Rogers Blvd., Columbia, S.C., 29201.
Mr. Fox died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002. Born in Pelion, he was a son of the late Phonex and Flossie Courtney Fox. He was the owner and operator of Fox Shoe Repair on Taylor Street in Columbia for 35 years and had later worked from a shop in his home for another 30 years.
Survivors include his wife Gladys Foster Fox of West Columbia; grandson, Everette Sox of West Columbia, Brian Rogers of Greenville, and David Fox of Marietta, Ga.; and three great-grandchildren, Spencer Sox of West Columbia, Jack and Matthew Rogers, both of Greenville.
Mr. Fox was preceded in death by a son, H. Dandrew "Danny" Fox Jr.; a daughter, Julia Eileen Rogers; and brothers, Leroy, Trudell, Harold, Grover, Marion and Jimmy Fox.

Mabel M. Gaffney
WILLISTON - Mabel Mack Gaffney, of 5092 Charleston Highway, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Simmons Funeral Home.

Matthew Gartrell Jr.
Matthew Gartrell Jr., 43, of 743 Washington Circle, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bland Baptist Church in Johnston. The Rev. Jimmie Cue will officiate. The remains will lie in state in the church from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Family and friends will assemble at his residence at 1 p.m.

David Johnson
GRANITEVILLE - Deacon David Johnson, 86, of 22 Old Graniteville Road, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Funeral services will be announced by Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home.
A native of Edgefield County, Deacon Johnson was a member of Old Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where he was chairman of the deacon board. He was also a member of Simmons Lodge #3A of North Augusta.
Survivors include his loving wife, Dora Johnson; two sisters, Virginia Hall of Graniteville and Mary Gowdy of Augusta; two sisters-in-law, Maggie N. McKie and Louise N. Smalls, both of Graniteville; a devoted niece, Janet H. Newsome; a devoted nephew, Freddie Earl; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at the residence or at the funeral home.

Samantha A. Jordan
BEECH ISLAND - Funeral services for Samantha Allison Jordan will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at George Funeral Homes, historic downtown chapel, with Pastor John L. Arthur Jr. officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Taylor Buff and Bradley Goodwin. Burial will be in Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Samantha, nine months old, a daughter of Ricky Jordan and Amanda K. Buff of Beech Island, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Samantha was born Feb. 23, 2002, in Aiken.
In addition to her parents, Samantha is survived by brothers, Dayton Buff of Beech Island and Bradley Goodwin of Gloverville; maternal grandparents, Angela Tinsley of Bath and Ernest "Bo" Buff of Aiken; paternal grandparents, Wanda Todd and Tal Jordan, both of Conway; and aunts and uncles, Melissa and Jimmy Bratcher of Beech Island, Ernest "Bo" Buff Jr. of Aiken and Carrie Bugg of Warrenville.
The family has requested that memorials in memory of Samantha be made to ACTS, 340 Park Ave., Aiken, S.C., 29801.

Sophia Faye Mathews, 90, of 445 Horry St., died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Friendship Baptist Church. Burial will be in Pine Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at her residence, the residence or her sister, Louise Price, 646 Pinecrest Ave., or at the funeral home beginning at 2 p.m. today. The remains will lie in state at the church Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of the service.

SURFSIDE BEACH - Annie Lou James Vargovchik, 76, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, in a Charleston hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today in Aiken Memorial Park.
A daughter of the late Smith and Lula Matheson James, Mrs. James was born in Watauga County, N.C. She was retired from Emerson Electric Corp. and was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby S. (Sarah) Greene of Boone, N.C. and Andrew S. (Mary Helen) Vargovchik Jr. of Myrtle Beach; a daughter, Kathleen V. (Gary) Streett of Florence; a brother, Baxter James of Boone; three sisters, Tressie Greene of Boone, Carrie Lewallen and Joyce (Charles) Skeen, both of High Point, N.C.; six grandchildren, Olivia Ward of Florence, Jessica Ward of Murrells Inlet, Terry Greene of Boone, Lavonne Griffin of Hilton Head, Jason Vargovchik of Chicago, Ill. and John Vargovchik of Milford, Conn.; and special family, Roger Ward of Murrells Inlet, Brenda (Tim) Huffman of High Point and Joe (Jan) James of Summerville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew S. Vargovchik Sr.

Moore, died Sunday morning at Lexington Medical Center Extended Care. Born in Abbottsburg, N.C. she was a daughter of the late Fredrick and Elizabeth Bryant. Mrs. Moore was a devoted minister's wife for 42 years and a member of Three Fountains Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are her four children and their spouses: Larry and Gloria Griffin of West Columbia; Keith and Jan Moore of Aiken; Rev. Bethea and Joyce Moore of Jacksonville, N.C.; and Dow and Janice Holden of Lexington; grandchildren, Nicole, Kristen, Brian, Eric, Kelly, Joshua, Jennie and Katie; great grandchild, Regan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
