Retired Kimberly Clark
Mr. John C. Brown, 66, husband of Mrs. Mary Seigler Brown, died Friday, May 31, 2002 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Funeral services will be held 3 pm, Sunday, June 2, 2002 at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, with the Revs. Charles Wilson and Olin Sizemore officiating. Burial will be private.
He had been living in Aiken for 41 years, was the son of the late Austin and Minnie Richardson Brown, was a member and deacon of Clearwater Branch Baptist Church and retired from Kimberly-Clark after 25 years of service.
Survivors include his wife; son, Terry D. Brown, Aiken; daughters, Julie Overstreet, Columbia and Jennifer D. Brown, Aiken; and one sister, Delorese Turner, Warner Robins, GA.

Rudolph Burckhalter
BARNWELL - Rudolph Burckhalter, 91, of Barnwell, died.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Folk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Posey Belcher officiating. Burial will be in Barnwell Memorial Park. A native of Dunbarton, Mr. Burckhalter was a son of the late Jessie Martin and Annie Laurie Eubanks Burckhalter. He retired from the Savannah River Site and was a lifetime farmer. Mr. Burckhalter was a member of Barnwell First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Bates Burckhalter; brother, Harvin Burckhalter; and brother-in-law, Hal Sweetman. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James Martin and Marcia Bowles Burckhalter of Barnwell; two grandchildren, Russell Lewis and Laura Jane Burckhalter, both of Barnwell; one sister, Vivian Sweetman of Ft. Collins, Colo.; two nieces, Debra Sweetman and
Mary Ann Cox; two nephews, Jessie Sweetman and John Burckhalter; and sister-in-law, Grace Burckhalter of Jackson.

Graveside funeral services for Philip E. Frew, Sr. will be private and under the direction of George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown
Chapel, 211 Park Ave. SW, Aiken.
Visitation will be on Monday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial donations, in his memory, may be directed to the Aiken County SPCA, 401 Wire Rd., Aiken, SC 29801.
Mr. Frew, 82, of Aiken, died Friday, May 31, 2002 at the VA Medical Center, Downtown Division in Augusta.
Born in Brazil, IN, he was the only son of the late Pete & Nellie (Hardesty) Frew. Before moving to Aiken in 1954, he had lived in
Rockville, IN, where he was a chemist with the DuPont Corporation at their New Port plant. Besides his degree in Chemistry, he also held degrees in Zoology and Electrical Engineering. When he transferred to Aiken, he worked as an electrical engineer and instructor at the Savannah River Site before retiring. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a paratrooper in W.W. II. An avid motorcyclist, he was known to take long trips on short notice.
He is predeceased by his wife, Sue (Gerdink) Frew, who died in 1991.
Mr. Frew is survived by his son and daughter in law, Philip E. & Donna Frew, Jr., Aiken; and a granddaughter, Alison Frew, Aiken.

Jeffrey Grace
COLUMBIA - Jeffrey Grace, 27, of Aiken and Columbia, died Thursday, May 30, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Cedar Creek Church, with the Revs. Richard Swift and Dr. Fred Andrea officiating. Burial will be private. Mr. Grace was a loving son of Hoyt and Ann Grace.
Survivors include his parents; one sister, Jennifer Ann Grace of Aiken; one niece, Melissa Spradley; and maternal grandmother, Virginia R. Espy of Abbeville, Ala.

NEW ELLENTON - Lester Watson Howington, 85, of 108 Pamela Ave., New Ellenton, died Friday, May 31, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shellhouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rick Rogers officiating. Burial will be in
Bethany Cemetery. Mr. Howington was a retired master machinist at DuPont. He was a member of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include his children, Carol Howington Tucker, Millard Howington and Ted Howington, all of New Ellenton.

Arthur Martin
Arthur Martin, 80, of 210 Heathwood Drive, Aiken, died Friday, May 31, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Funeral services will be private.
A native of Savannah, Ga., Mr. Martin was a son of James Martin and Catherine Bennett Martin Coley. He made Aiken his home for the past 49 years. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from DuPont. Mr. Martin was a past master Mason with the Aiken Masonic Lodge 156, and was a past post commander of the Aiken VFW Post 5877. He was a member of the Aiken Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline M. Martin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tonia and Tom McCullough of Aiken and Yvonne and
Charles Shirley of Albuquerque, N.M.; and two grandsons, Jonathan Martin Shirley and Christopher Daniel Shirley.

Freddie Lee McDougal, 69, of 2045 McDougal Road, Aiken, died Friday, May 31, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shellhouse Funeral Home, with the Revs. Mark Mill and Richard McDuffie officiating. Burial will be in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include three children, Tammy Fields, Lori McDougal and Mark McDougal, all of Aiken; one son-in-law, Van Fields; five sisters, Lois Gainey of Scranton, Leona Tomlinson, Nell Knotts and Sandra Lee, all of Florence, and Francis Taylor of Roanoke, Va.; one brother, W. Jack McDougal of Aiken; six grandchildren, Kenny Clark, Ashley Clark, Kaci Fields, Jamie Armstrong, Jimmy Armstrong and Megan McCabe. Clonzie Pope
Clonzie Bell Pope, 92, of 432 Chesterfield St., Aiken, died Friday, May 31, 2002, at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Randall Branch Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The remains will lie in state from noon-2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
A native of Aiken, Mrs. Pope was a member of Randall Branch Baptist Church, where she was the mother of the church.
Survivors include four sons, Charlie (Catherine) Pope of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., George (Lillian) Pope of High Point, N.C., the Rev. Westley (Bridgett) Guyton of North Augusta, and Jonthan (Mary) Pope of Aiken; seven daughters, Josephine Pope of Sumter, Evangelist Gertrude Cook, Minnie Johnson, Clonzie Lloyd, Ethel Pope and Josephine Vanessa Pope, all of Aiken, and the Rev. Sylvia (Ernest) Bostic of Columbia; 25 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Vivian Parton Sitz, 85, of 356 York St., Aiken, died Friday, May 31, 2002.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Sitz.
Survivors include two daughters, Sara S. Little of Aiken and Dorothy S. John Wright
WILLISTON - John J.P. Wright died Thursday, May 30, 2002, at the Medical College of Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Young Rosemary Baptist Church, with the Revs. John Young, Beverly Ashley, James Moody and Phinice Young officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Wright was a graduate of Williston-Elko High School Class of 1975. He was employed by Dayco Manufacturing Co. of Williston for 22 years. Survivors include his devoted friend, Ethel Sapp of Williston; six sisters, Ulis Hightower, Rose Marie (George) Barker, Georgia (Curtis) Dicks and Willie Mae Johnson, all of Williston, Lessie (Clarence) Sweeney of Simpsonville and Blanch (Javan) Wardlaw of Columbus, Ohio; and four brothers, Ronnie (Roberta) Patterson, Harold (Shirley) Patterson, all of Williston, Willie Wright Jr. of Miami, Fla. and Dennis Berry of Elko.

SPRINGFIELD - J. Louise (Jenezese) Butler, 89, wife of General Lee Butler, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Frost Branch Baptist Church in Elko. The Rev. Joseph Williams will officiate.
A native of Springfield, Mrs. Butler was a daughter of the late William and Ida Jenkins of Williston. She attended Cedar Branch Baptist Church in Windsor. She was a house wife. Survivors in addition to her husband include four daughters, Mary Lue Odoms of Philadelphia, Pa., Essie Dunbar, Sally Mae Tobin and Reathea Richardson, all of Salley; and three sons, Willie Jenkins of Salley, Harvey (Earnestine) Jenkins and Wallace Jenkins of Aiken. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Lee R. McDuffee
DUNEDIN, Fla. - Lee Roscoe McDuffee, 94, loving husband of Laura Jane McDuffee, of North Orange Drive, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, in Aiken.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Shellhouse Funeral Home. Mr. McDuffee was a Mason for over 70 years, a member of the Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He was a retired professional auctioneer and a farmer. Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Clara Ann Yarian of Aiken and Carolyn Pequignot of Fort Wayne, Ind. GLOVERVILLE - Jimmy Cleveland Proctor, beloved husband of Shirley Adkinson Proctor, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Augusta Primitive Baptist Church. Elders Gerald Proctor and Sam Adkins will officiate. Burial will be in Langley Cemetery. Mr. Proctor will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Born to the late Ira L. and Lana Bell Roberts Proctor, Mr. Proctor was a lifelong resident of Warrenville. He was a retired automotive technician with Goodyear. He was a member and deacon of Augusta Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Jimmy Lamar Proctor of Langley; a foster son, Herbert H. Proctor Jr. of Gloverville; two daughters, Donna Lynn Treadaway of Langley and Sandra Proctor Shaw of Aiken; two brothers, Jake Proctor of Martinez, Ga. and Gerald Proctor of Ocilla, Ga.; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Proctor, Earl Proctor, Jeff Proctor, Steve Proctor, Gene Adkinson and Wade Adkinson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Augusta Primitive Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home or at the residence at 152 Murphy St. in Gloverville.

Born in Wagener, Mr. Samuels was a son of the late Joe and Hannah Steadman Samuels. Survivors include a son, Milton A. Samuels Jr.; eight daughters, Beatrice Holmes, Marilyn Gilley, Rose Samuels, Aleica Samuels, Michelle Samuels, Angela Samuels, Eleanor Haynes and Yvonne Brown; a sister Willie Mae Hughey; a brother, Jasper Samuels; and grandchildren.
