Brother Dave Crawford Jr.
The angel of death has visited again and a Godly life ended on Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, when Brother Dave Crawford, Jr. was taken from our midst. We know that he is at rest with our Heavenly Father.
Brother Dave Crawford Jr. was born March 10, 1904 in Barnwell County. He was the son of the late Mr. Dave Crawford Sr. and the late Mrs. Katie Williams Crawford.
Seeking the divine guidance of God, he joined the Friendship Baptist Church at an early age. He was the owner and manager of the Crawford Grocery Store.
God saw that the road was getting tough; the hills were hard to climb. He gently closed those loving eyes and whispered "Peace be Thine."
Brother Dave Crawford Jr. was united in holy matrimony to the late Mrs. Hannah Rhodes Crawford. To this union, six children were born. Three preceded him in death. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather.
He leaves to cherish his memory, Mrs. Flossie C. Riley, Mrs. Leola C. Pressley (Willie), both of Aiken, Dave Crawford III (Vernell), Jackson; one sister, Mrs. Blanche Walker, Beech Island; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn Crawford, Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Hattie Cummings, Aiken and Mrs. Emma Mae Boylen, New Ellenton; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and loving friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, Silver Bluff Road with the Rev. Albert Long officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the residence of Leola Pressley, 2867 Silver Bluff Road, Aiken or at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home beginning today at 3 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 12 noon until the hour of service.

Bennie Lavern Davis Sr.
LANGLEY - Entered into rest Wednesday, March 2, 2005, Mr. Bennie Lavern "Pug" Davis Sr., beloved husband of Mrs. Barbara Davis, or 182 Pelzer St., Langley.
Surviving along with his wife are two sons, Bennie L. Davis Jr. and Billy Ray Davis, both of Langley; four step-children, Betty Anne Rutland of Langley, Harold Gregory of Clearwater, Stacie Usry of Dublin, Ga., and Sgt. Daniel R. Poole of Okanawa, Japan; and his father-in-law, Randolph Hadden of Langley; 38 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
Mr. Davis was born in Aiken County to the late Edward and Willie Mae Cochran Davis. He retired from Graniteville Company and he was a member of Langley Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Warrenville Church of God with the Revs. Roger Nix, Don Stevens and Keith Randall officiating. Mr. Davis will be placed in the church on Saturday at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Langley Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Adam Lee Proctor Sr., David Lee Horne Jr., Roy L. Eubanks Sr., Steven Eubanks, Clem Campbell, Timothy Cochran and Jessie Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons. Friends may call at the residence or today from 7 to 9 at Hatcher Funeral Home.

Frontis Hutto Walling
Entered into rest Feb. 21, 2005, Mrs. Frontis Hutto Walling of Aiken, daughter of the late James R. Hutto and the late Ellie Lowe Hutto. She is survived by a daughter, Janet Johnson Wood of Warrenville, a son, Ronald E. Johnson of Beech Island, a granddaughter, Giften Evans of Winabow, N.C., a great grandson, Blake Arthur, two step grandchildren, Stacy Maxwell and Vonda Williams and two great stepgrandchildren. She was born in and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County. She worked for Warneke Cleaners for many years and was retired from Vogue Cleaners. She was of the Baptist faith. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Graniteville Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Carter officiating. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Napier Funeral Home.

Barbara Fay Lear
BEECH ISLAND - Entered into rest March 2, 2005, Mrs. Barbara Fay Lear, beloved wife of Mr. William J. Lear.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private.
Mrs. Lear was born in Williamsport, Pa. She was a retired secretary for Ebasco Services Inc. and Intel Corporation. She was a homemaker.
Surviving in addition to her husband are nine children, Julia Galettie, Philadelphia, Pa.; David Galettie and Eugene Galettie, both of Little Rock, Ark.; Andrei Coval, Palm Dale, Calif; Christopher Lear, Washington, D.C.; Elizabeth Peterson and Colleen Lear, both of Grass Valley, Calif; William Lear of Papillion, N.E.; and Kevin Lear, Bay City, Texas; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends may call tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hatcher Funeral Home.

James Laverne Norris
WARRENVILLE - Entered into rest Thursday, March 3, 2005, Mr. James Laverne Norris, beloved husband of Mrs. Christy Shaw Norris.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Langley Cemetery.
Mr. Norris was born in Aiken County to the late Roy and Ruby Bryant Norris. He was preceded in death by his son Randy Norris.
He was a retired painter of 40 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his son and daughter-in-law, Chuck Sr., and Nancy Norris, his daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Jeff Cox, all of Aiken, a step-daughter, Dixie Morgan, former wife and her husband, Doris and Billy Kirkendohl, all of North Augusta; five grandchildren, Bryant Norris, Chuck Norris Jr., Kyle Cox, Brodie Cox, Chloe Morgan.
Pallbearers will be Everett Baker, Tommy Gleaton, Marvin Keenan, Mark Shaw, Mike Treadaway and Don Whitaker. Wade Baker is the honorary pallbearer.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2623 Washington Road, Augusta, GA, 30904, or to Portsbridge Hospice of Augusta, 1365 Interstate Pkwy., Augusta, GA, 30909.

Mr. Isidell Williams entered into rest Feb. 26, 2005 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5, at 1:30 p.m. at the Sumner Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Williston. Burial will be in the Johnson Cemetery. Survivors are his wife Mary Ann Williams of the home, two sons, Antonio Williams, Brock J. Williams, both of Windsor, his father Evans Williams, New Ellenton; three sisters, Gloria (Leroy) Toomer, Yvonne (Roger) Hall, Joyce Williams, all of New Ellenton, two brothers, Evans (Annie J.) Williams Jr. Aiken, Gerald Williams, New Ellenton, and a host of other relative and friends. Grace K. Lott
The funeral service for Grace K. Lott of Aiken will be conducted today at 3 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Aiken with the Rev. Brancie Stephens officiating. The interment will follow in the Vaucluse Cemetery. Ms. Lott will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Ruth Collins
Mother Ruth Collins, 75, of 434 Hampton Ave., Aiken, entered into rest Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 at the Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
The funeral will be held at Antioch Bible Way in Wagener, Saturday at 2 p.m. with Bishop Theodore Meyers officiating. Burial will be at the Antioch Bible Way Cemetery.
A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Norman Gattis, Mrs. Collins retired from private duty health care in 2000. She was a member and first lady of Saluda Bible Way where her husband of 34 years, Elder Theadore Collins, is pastor.
Survivors include her loving husband; a son, Vernon Gattis; one brother, Lester Gattis; a niece, Lynette Parker; two nephews, Freddie Parker and Vincent Parker, all of Salisbury, Md.; a mother and father-in-law, Jake and Rosetta Jones; sisters and brothers-in-law, John and Geraldine Brown; Hilton and Deloris Sweeney, all of Hoffman, N.C.; a sister and brother-in-law, Elmer and Dorethea Highsmith, Philadelphia, Pa.; four adopted children, Lionell Pontoo, Leroy Staley, and Linda Staley, all of Aiken, and Michelle R. Simpkins, Edgefield.

Alene Mitchell Bell
LANGLEY - Entered into rest on Thursday, March 3, 2005, Mrs. Alene Mitchell Bell, wife of the late Mr. Fred S. Bell, formerly of Langley. She was preceded in death by four children, Everette Bell, Steve Bell, Ronnie Bell and Laura Wynn and her husband Bob.
Surviving are two daughters, Virginia Bell Hallback and her husband, Gus, of Powder Springs, Ga., and Barbara Bell Canaday and her husband, David, of Smyma, Ga.; two sons and their wives, Pete and Patsy Bell of Clearwater, and Danny and Marsha Bell of Aiken; one sister, Bernice Goodnight of Waverly, Ohio; three daughters-in-law, Mary Bell, Betty Jean Bell Wise and Sadie Bell, all of Langley; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Bell was born in Barnwell County to the late A.P. and Lula Hair Mitchell. She was a member of Langley First Baptist Church and the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Langley First Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Masters officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Sandy Partridge, Callen Partridge, Keith Rushton, Jerry Krepps, Pat Bell, Larry Bell, Freddie Bell and LaRon Bell.
Friends may call at the residence of her son, Pete Bell, 541 Corley Road, North Augusta, or today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hatcher Funeral Home.

LANGLEY - Entered into rest on Wednesday, Mr. Bennie Lavern "Pug" Davis Sr., beloved husband of Mrs. Barbara Davis.
Surviving along with his wife are two sons, Bennie L. and Karen Davis Jr. and Billy Ray Davis; four step-children and their spouses, Betty Anne and Tony Rutland, Harold and Eugenia Gregory, Stacie and Duane Usry and Sgt. Daniel R. Tramara Poole; his father-in-law, Randolph Hadden; 38 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, six nephews and three nieces.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. in the Warrenville Church of God. Mr. Davis will be placed in the church today at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Langley Cemetery.

NORTH AUGUSTA - Funeral Services for Mrs. Lucille Edenfield, 88, of Savannah River Place, North Augusta, who died March 3, 2005, will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. from the Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home with Elder Sam Adkins officiating. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Edenfield was a native of Augusta, having made North Augusta her home for the past 55 years. She was a member of the Augusta Primitive Baptist Church and the wife of the late Mr. Frank Edenfield.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and John Koonce, North Augusta; a sister, Mamie Inez Roberts, Augusta; four grandchildren, Debra Syms Ryufuku, Tonya Heiple, W. Baxley Syms and Frank H. Syms; 10 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
