Dow Andrews; son, Bobby Andrews of Carnesville; daughters, Judy Ayers and Faye Ertzberger, both of Carnesville; sisters, Elton Atkinson of Greenville, Nell Horton of Baltimore, Cornelia Bailey of Los Angeles and Frances Hall of Winnetka, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late William Erskine and Julia Fleming Payne Bailey. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Bailey; a sister, Ruth Randall; and her stepmother, Fannie Anderson Bailey. Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at B.D. Born in Oconee County, he was retired from WABCO after more than 40 years of service and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was a member of the Toccoa First Baptist Church and the Davis Vaughn Sunday school class. Surviving are sons, Timothy W. Hale of Toccoa, and Philip E. Hale of Athens; sister, Rebecca Aycock of Toccoa; brother, John Hale of Athens; and five grandchildren. He was the widower of Marion Christine Edmunds Hale and the son of the late Frank E. and Blondine Phillips Hale. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Hale and Nora Elizabeth Hale. Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Toccoa First Baptist Church by Drs. Henry Fields and Jim Nelson; burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. She was the widow of John Henry Johnson and the daughter of the late Sam and Virgil Brown. Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church, Lavonia, by the Rev. Born in Anderson County, she was a member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Deaconess Board, the Missionary Society and was a former Sunday school teacher. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are daughters, Ruth Boyd of Chesapeake, Va. and Brenda Overton of Elizabeth City, N.C.; sons, Theodore Mattison and the Rev. Spurgeon Mattison, both of Williamston, and Eddie B. Mattison of Virginia Beach, Va.; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was the widow of Spurgeon P. Mattison and the daughter of the late George and Anna Jones Royal. She was preceded in death by seven brothers, John Royal, Calvin Royal, Haskell Royal, Jamie Royal, Willie Lee Royal, Eddie Royal and Dr. Andrew Royal; and three sisters, Kathleen Thompson, Annie Royal and Ina Grier. Services are at 4 p.m. Friday at New Prospect Baptist Church, Williamston, by Dr. N.P. Pearson, the Revs. Dr. S.B. Neely, Clinton Canty, Curtis Hill and David Byrd; burial will be in the church cemetery. No wake is planned. The body is at Unity Mortuary and will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Friday. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Special Force, having served in Vietnam and was a member of the WOW. Surviving are widow, Dorothy Juanita Threlkeld Nimmons of the home; daughters, Peggy Jeckel and Judy Dooley, both of the home; brothers, Richard Jerry Payton of Anderson, James Eugene Payton of Forest City, N.C., and Tommy Dean Payton of Iva; sisters, Lois Ann Cross, Ressie Evans, Judy Moore and Darlene Murphy, all of Anderson; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was the son of the late M.E. and Annie Jane Nimmons Payton. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy Ray Payton, Robbie Payton and Mike Payton. She was the widow of McKinney Hurt Ramsey Jr. and the daughter of the late Claude Armstrong Plumlee and Ruby Witt Plumlee. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, by the Rev. Robert N. Carlisle. She was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the Anderson Literacy Association and the Anderson County Disabilities and Special Needs Board. She was a retired educator. Surviving are stepsister, Margaret Palmer; brothers, Jason Rucker Jr. of Belton, Benjamin Rucker of Mitchelleville, Md.; stepbrother, Paul Rucker; and stepmother, Eldora Rucker. She was the daughter of the late Isadora Maude and Jason Rucker Jr. Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Salem Presbyterian Church; burial will be in Westview Cemetery.
