Mary O'Neal Moss Martin, 85, of White Oak Manor Nursing Home, formerly of 1171 Foster's Grove Road, Chesnee, died Sept. 7, 1999, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. A native of Spartanburg County, she was the widow of Booker T. Martin Sr. and daughter of the late John H. Moss and Ethel Means Moss. She was a member of Foster's Grove Baptist Church, where she was a former member of the senior choir and a member of the church's Sympathy Club and Women Auxiliary Club. Surviving are three daughters, Kathleen Mills of Washington, D.C., Pauline and Martha Black, both of Spartanburg; three sons, Booker T. Martin Jr. of Cherokee Springs, Paul Martin of Spartanburg and Mark C. Martin of Philadelphia; a brother, James Moss of Cherokee Springs; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Foster's Grove Baptist Church in Chesnee, conducted by the Rev. Horace Wilson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. DUNCAN - Doris Jeanette Wilkinson Atkins, 69, of 113 Piedmont St. died Sept. 6, 1999, in Greenville Memorial Medical Center. A native of Spartanburg County, she was the widow of Marion Layton Atkins and daughter of the late Tim Edward and Ventin Vaughn Wilkinson. She was a retired lunchroom supervisor and was of the Methodist faith. Surviving are two sons, Tim Atkins of Duncan and M.L. "Manny" Atkins Jr. of Greer; a daughter, Sunny Saunders of Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother, Tommy Wilkinson of Weedon Heights, Ala.; three sisters, Peggy Seay, Bonnie Allen and Judy Reese, all of Greer; and seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends form 7 to 9 tonight at Wood Mortuary in Greer. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family is at the home.

LANDRUM - George Washington Arledge, 70, of 614 Arledge Road died Sept. 6, 1999, in his home. A native of Greenville County, he was son of the late William Dewey and Agnes Hudson Arledge. He maintained trails for the Greenville Hounds for 35 years. Surviving are his wife, Patsey New Arledge; three sons, Donald Wayne Arledge, Billy Thomas Arledge and George Richard Arledge, all of Landrum; two daughters, Gloria Faye Seasey of Campobello and Norma Jean Hubbard of Green Bay, Wis.; seven brothers, William, David and Arthur Arledge, all of Greer, Jackie Arledge of Landrum, Sam Arledge of Freemont, Calif., Ronald Arledge of Jacksonville, Fla., and Milton Arledge of Greenville; two sisters, Annie Charping of Taylors and Jenny Lou Mooris of Duncan; two stepchildren, Gerald David Hodge and Natalia Marlar; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. GREENWOOD - Earl Wilton Fleming, 67, of 504 Chace Ave. died Sept. 5, 1999, in Self Memorial Hospital. A native of Elberton, Ga., he was son of the late George F. and Bertha B. Fleming. He retired from the Army in February 1972 having served in Korea and Vietnam. He was then employed by the State Department of Education, teaching at Perry Correctional Institute in Pelzer until 1994. He was a member of Mathews Lodge No. 358 A.F.M., Callie Self No. 199 O.E.S., Matthews United Methodist Church and Chug Matthews Sunday school class. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Broome Fleming; two daughters, Thelma Chapman and Kathy Coffee, both of Greenwood; two sons, Kenneth E. Fleming and Dale W. Fleming, both of Greenwood; two brothers, Elmer G. Fleming of Newberry and Jackson E. Fleming of Greenwood; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood, conducted by the Revs. Nellie Cloninger and John G. Spencer Eugene Cohen, 28, of 408 Abner Road died Sept. 7, 1999, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. A native of Spartanburg County, he was son of Josephine Cohen Lowrance of Spartanburg and the late John Belton Cohen. He was a member of Foster's Chapel Baptist Church in Roebuck. He was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School and was employed by One Price Clothing for five years. DRAYTON - Mary Ruth Lancaster Pruitt Barnes, 78, of 13 Carney St. died Sept. 6, 1999, in her home. A native of Union County, she was the widow of Columbus Barnes and daughter of the late Mattie Simmons. She was a graduate of West Springs High School and was a member of Drayton Baptist Church. She was employed by Drayton Mills. She was first married to the late D.T. Pruitt. Surviving are four stepsisters, Ada Fowler of Startex, Reba Casey and Emmie Faulks, both of Woodruff, and Hazel Dyer of Enoree; a stepbrother, Hubert Simmons of Woodruff; and a nephew, Robert W. A native of Laurens County, she was the widow of Wesley Furman Williams and daughter of the late Edward Lee and Louella Holmes Taylor. She retired from Riverdale Plant in Enoree and was the oldest member of Lanford Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Elvie W. Miracle of Laurens; three sons, F. Ervin Williams and Jimmy L. Williams, both of Laurens, and Billy H. Williams of Lanford; two sisters, Doris T. Hair and Edna T. Betsill, both of Lanford; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. GREENVILLE - Mary Crouch Moser died Sept. 6, 1999, in Piedmont Nursing Center. A native of Saluda County, she was the widow of Maurice L. Moser and daughter of the late Thomas and Martha Stewart Crouch. She lived in Greenville most of her adult life. She was a homemaker and a seamstress and worked at Patton-Tillman and Bruce. She was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church for several years and was a charter member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, where she served as the first UMW president, as a choir member, a member of the Welcome Sunday school class and on the building committee. Surviving are a sister, Johnnie Burris of Concord, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends form 7 to 9 tonight at Mackey Mortuary Century Drive Chapel in Greenville. She worked with Tryon Hospital, trained as a nurse at Spartanburg General Hospital and then worked as a nurse with Palmetto Baptist Medical Center. Milton Thomas Skinner, 73, of 410 Floyd Road died Jan. 17, 2000, in Manor Care Nursing Home in Charleston. A native of Sioux Falls, S.D., he was the widower of Annie Mae Ward Skinner and son of the late Richard Thomas and Faith Underwood Skinner. He was an electrician and a member of Skylyn United Methodist Church and Drayton Masonic Lodge, AFM 360. He was a donor with the Spartanburg County Blood Bank, which he gave more than 32 gallons of blood, and was a volunteer with Mary Black Memorial Hospital and Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office DARE program. He also was a Navy veteran of World War II. Surviving are a daughter, Janice S. Blackwell of Charleston; a brother, Kenneth Skinner of Houston; a sister, Eva Burigsay of Denver; and two grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg and retired a secretary from First Baptist. Surviving are two sons, B.C. "Clay" Livingston of Travelers Rest and Allen E. INMAN -- Jeanette Wood Pitts, 92, formerly of 108 Holly Drive, died March 7, 2000, in Inman Health Care. A native of Greer, she was daughter of the late Frank and Effie Mae Morgan Wood. She had retired from Saxon Mill and was a member of Temple Methodist Church. Surviving are five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in Fort Prince Memorial Gardens. Tommy Rothrock Jr.
GLENDALE -- William Thomas "Tommy" Rothrock Jr., 84, of 140 Church St. died March 7, 2000, in Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. A native of Anderson, he was the widower of Ella Mae Quinn Rothrock and son of the late William Thomas Rothrock Sr. and Pauline George Rothrock. He was a member of Pacolet Presbyterian Church and had retired from the textile industry. Surviving are a son, James W. Rothrock of Duncan; a daughter, Nettie Rothrock Gentry of Pacolet; two brothers, George B. Rothrock of Ware Shoals and David B. Rothrock of Spartanburg; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Donald O'Dell. The family will receive friends at graveside, following the service. Family members are at the home of his daughter, Nettie R. Gentry, 6261 South Pine St., Pacolet. Peggy J. Clark
LYMAN -- Peggy Ann Jordan Pack Clark, 53, of 25 Hillcrest St. died March 7, 2000, at her home. A native of Greenville County, she was daughter of Elizabeth Nelms Jordan of Greer and the late Hugh I. Jordan. She retired as an employee of J.P. Stevens, Taylors Plant and Reeves Brothers. She attended Holly Springs Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Donnie G. Pack of Lyman; and three granddaughters. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wood Mortuary in Greer. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Tim Clark. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home.

Virginia B. Bishop
NEW PROSPECT -- Virginia Brian Bishop, 83, of 9131 Highway 9, died March 7, 2000, in St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, N.C. A native of New Prospect, she was the widow of Cletus L. Bishop and daughter of the late James Thomas and Ruth Davis Brian. She was a graduate of Limestone College and was a schoolteacher, retiring from Boiling Springs Elementary School after 33 years of service. She also was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women's Missionary Union. Surviving are a son, James "Jim" William Bishop of New Prospect; three sisters, Emily Childers of Gaffney, Edith Coggins of Spartanburg and Jean Coggins of Columbia; and two step-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at New Prospect Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Bill Harris and Robert Dickard. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family is at the home. Donald Marburg
COLUMBUS, N.C. -- Donald Marburg, 81, of 12 Mountain Shadows died March 6, 2000, at his home after a lengthy illness. A native of Glen Ridge, N.J., he was son of the late Louis Christian and Gertrude Wells Marburg. He was a graduate of the University of Vermont where he received a bachelor's degree in economics. During his career, he served as a financial officer at the University of Vermont, American University of Beirut, Beloit College and the Museum of Fine Arts in Minneapolis. He served in the 10th Mountain Division of Army during World War II and obtained the rank of major. He continued to served in a reserve unit until 1954. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Marburg; four daughters, Nancy Peterman of Tryon, N.C., Joanne Marburg of Little Falls, Minn., Kristin Hylland of Apple Valley, Minn., and Ellen Burnell of Eagle, Idaho; a sister, Hildegrade Hennington of Greenwich, Conn.; and six grandchildren. Memorials services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Tryon Congregational Church in Tryon, conducted by Dr. Joseph Emory. H.R. Montgomery
MOORE -- H.R. "Buck" Montgomery, 75, of 140 Jay Circle died March 7, 2000, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A native of Woodruff, he was son of the late Robert Russell and Shadie Montgomery. He was a graduate of Clemson University and attended graduate school at University of Wisconsin. He was formerly employed with W.R. Grace Inc. and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and lay leader. Surviving are his wife, Helen Case Salerno Montgomery; a daughter, Marsha Gregory of Cary, N.C.; a son, Russell Montgomery of Atlanta; six grandchildren; two stepsons, Tony Salerno of Charlotte, N.C., and Tommy Salerno of Greensboro, N.C.; five step-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Montgomery of Camden; and three sisters, Joy Meadows of Camden, Dorothy Penney of Spartanburg and Mary Dunlap of Boone, N.C. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Elizabeth Thompson.
