A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Forest Hills Cemetery. A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Brunson was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith. She was the daughter of the late Harvey and Eula Johnson Massey. Surviving are three sons, Gary W. Brunson of Columbia, D. Dean Brunson of Rock Hill and Stephen Massey Brunson of Lake Charles, La.; her brother, Buddy Massey of Richburg; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Bruce Wyatt officiating. Burial will be atLaurelwood Cemetery. A native of Great Falls, Mr. Daniels was a retired from Highland Park Mill and Simmons Healthcare. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a former member of the state National Guard. Surviving are his wife, Lillie Mae Sweatt Daniels of the home; two sons, Yancel L. GREAT FALLS - Mr. Hampton Haye Hood, 74, of 6192 Heritage Road died Sunday, June 6, 1999, at home. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with the Revs. Larry Roberts and Paul Nix officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Mr. Hood was a native of Rock Hill. He was a member and deacon of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he formerly served as choir director, Sunday school superintendent, church treasurer and member of the Cemetery Committee, Building Fund Committee and Tape Ministry. He was also a member of the XYZ Seniors Club. After retiring as owner and operator of Hood's Dairio, Mr. Hood was a meter reader for Fairfield Electric Cooperative. He was a World War II Army veteran in the Medical Corps. He was a son of the late Marlin Hood and Ethel Hollifield Hood. Surviving are his wife, Eva Mae Stroud Whitaker Hood; two sons, Ronald H. She volunteered for the Ladies Auxiliary at Piedmont Medical Center and with the Meals on Wheels Program. Miss Poole was a member of First Baptist Church. ROCK HILL - Devon Marquese White Jr., infant son of Devon Marquese White Sr. and Erin Shemieka White of 242 Clinton Ave., died Monday, June 7, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center. The graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Chestnut Grove AME Zion Church cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Cunningham officiating. Hester Broughton
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Hester Callahan Broughton, 91, of 1030 Park Ave. Extension, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at home. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Ebenezer ARP Church, with the Rev. Barry Elder officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. A native of Anderson County, Mrs. Broughton was a daughter of the late Willis Pruitt Callahan and Julia Hester Greer Callahan. She was the widow of Sam Fewell Broughton. She was a graduate of Honea Path High School. She graduated in 1929 from Winthrop College and worked in the alumnae office for a year after graduation. She later worked in the President's Office and the graduate school until her retirement in 1973. A member of the Rock Hill Business and Professional Women's Organization since 1931, Mrs. Broughton served three terms as the chapter president and two years as president of the South Carolina Federation of BPW Clubs. The Rock Hill organization honored Mrs. Broughton, the organization's oldest living member, in 1992 by naming a scholarship after her. She volunteered for 31 years with the American Red Cross, and was a lifesaving instructor during World War II. Since the early 1950s, she was a member of the Woman's Club of Rock Hill. She served twice as vice president and as treasurer. In 1983 she was named a life member and in 1989 was named Volunteer of the Year by the South Carolina Federation of Women's Clubs. A member of Ebenezer ARP Church since the 1930s, she taught Sunday school, was president of the Women of the Church three times and also served as treasurer. Mrs. Broughton was a Bible study teacher for circles as well as circle chairman. Mrs. Broughton also served as treasurer of Providence Presbytery Women of the Church and for two six-year terms was a member of the board of the Saluda Psychological Center, serving one year as chairman. Mrs. Broughton also volunteered with the York County Mental Health Association, Hospice of York County and, for 13 years, she served on the Rock Hill Planning Commission. Surviving are her son, Sam F. Broughton Jr. of Florence; her daughter, Sarah Hester "Sally" Broughton-Ives of Asheville, N.C.; her sister, Thelma Callahan Kirven of Columbia; and three grandchildren. He was the widower of Malitta Baker Peach. He was retired from Springs Industries. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He attended Fairview Church of God in Augusta. Surviving are three sons, Howard Peach, J.P. Peach and Carlton Peach, all of Lancaster; two daughters, Brenda Moree or Lancaster and Elaine Williams of Clarks Hill; his sister, Sarah Caskey of Lancaster; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Howard Peach, 141 Holiday Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Lois L. Poole
ROCK HILL - Miss Lois L. Poole, 84, of 303 Community St. died Tuesday, June 8, 1999 at Piedmont Medical Center. The graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Laurelwood Cemetery with the Revs. Steve Hogg and Dr. Jerry Sosebee officiating. A native of Gaffney, Miss Poole was a daughter of the late J.W. and Cleo Isler Poole and was retired from J.P. Stevens industrial plant. She volunteered for the Ladies Auxiliary at Piedmont Medical Center and with the Meals on Wheels Program. Miss Poole was a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are her niece, Linda Brewer of of Rock Hill; and four nephews, Jerry Poole of Rock Hill, William T. Poole of Longview, Texas, Donald Poole of Birmingham, Ala, and H. CHESTER - Mr. Robert Julian "Jule" Sanders, 79, of 2441 Pressley Road died Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at Providence Hospital in Columbia. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Armenia United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Mary Kearse, Dale Roddey and Fant Steele officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. A native of Chester, Mr. Sanders was a son of the late Peter Hamilton Sanders and Annie Beulah Roberts Sanders. He was retired from Springs Industries and a member of Armenia United Methodist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Sanders attended the Chester County schools and was an avid farmer and gardener. Surviving are his wife, Ethel C. Sanders; his daughter, Debbie Shugart of Chester; two sisters, Annie Mae Wrenn of Chester and Betty Stroud of Charlotte; and three grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his parents are, his paternal grandparents, Allen and Joan Morgan of Rock Hill; his paternal great-grandmother, Bertie Shackelford of Rock Hill; his maternal grandparents, Sandy P. Boyer and Richard L. Boyer, both of Charlotte; his maternal great-grandmother, Evelyn Page of Albemarle, N.C.; and his maternal great-grandfather, Vincent Boyer of Florida. Mrs. Simpson was a daughter of the late Willie Johnson and "Moma Anna" Dye Johnson. A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Taylor was a daughter of the late Henry Sanford Rowell and Lillie Estelle King Rowell. She was the widow of Ervin Collier Taylor. Mrs. Taylor was the owner and operator of Taylor's Grocery Store. She was a member of the First Methodist Church where she was in the Golden Age Club and the Lou Riddle Bible Class. Surviving are her son, Ervin Keith Taylor of Orlando, Fla.; her daughter, Lorraine T. Harper of Lancaster; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
