DONALD M. BLANDING III
WEDGEFIELD — Donald “Don” McQueen Blanding III, 59, husband of Beverlee Page Blanding, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Donald M. Blanding Jr. and Elizabeth Parrott Blanding. He was a member of Wedgefield Presbyterian Church and a 1960 graduate of Edmunds High School. He was owner and operator of Ventu-Lite Inc. (Venetian Blind Manufacturing Co.).
Survivors besides his wife of Wedgefield include two sons, Donald McQueen Blanding IV of Columbia and Walker McRae Blanding of Wedgefield; a daughter, Beverlee Page Blanding of Wedgefield; a brother, Michael L. Blanding Sr. of Sumter; and a sister, Elizabeth Parrott Blanding of Sumter.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with Dr. D. McNab Morrison officiating.
His nephews, J. Harold McLean, Michael L. Blanding Jr., John D. Blanding, John B. Parnell, Whit B. Parnell and his brother-in-law, Alton C. Parnell will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Wilson Hall School, 2801 W. Wise Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.

MABLE W. FULTON
LAKE CITY — Mable “Toy” Wilson Fulton, 92, widow of Isaac Fulton, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at McNair Nursing Center.
Born Aug. 21, 1909, in Cades, she was a daughter of the late Arrington and Essie Wilson. She retired from custodial services with Florence County School District III.
Survivors include four sons, Benjamin Fulton and his wife, Mary, of Lake City, Isaac Fulton and his wife, Minnie, and Roosevelt Fulton, of Newark, N.J., and Larry Fulton and his wife, Geraldine, of Lake Worth, Fla.; seven daughters, Essie Frierson of Vineland, N.J., Luttie Graham of Scranton, Mary Postell of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Delores Cooper and her husband, Clyde, and Jessie Harrison and her husband, Jimmy, of Olanta, Carrie Gamble and her husband, Robert, of Hillside, N.J., and Mable Davis and her husband, Mike, of Miami, Fla.; three brothers, Willie Wilson of Lake City, Rogers Wilson of Philadelphia, Pa., and Alton Fulton of Kingstree; six sisters, Ethel Adams of Danville, Va., Ruby Wilson of Philadelphia, Dorothrene Wallace of Ft. Lauderdale, Lucille Epps of Kingstree, Lillie Montgomery of Pompano, Fla., and Clover Paige of Florida; 156 grandchildren; 120 great-grandchildren; and 30 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Fulton; and a daughter, Ellar G. Burgess.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at Mt. Clair Baptist Church on Peachtree Street, Lake City, with the Rev. W.L. Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Poston Cemetery in Cades.
The funeral procession will leave at 11:40 a.m. Saturday from the home of her son, Benjamin Fulton, 243-H Graham Road, Lake City. The family will receive friends at the home of Benjamin Fulton.

SUSIE N. HOLLIDAY
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Susie Annie L. Nelson Holliday, 102, widow of Effie Olivine Holliday, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Rose Mountain Care Center in New Brunswick.
Born Aug. 6, 1899, in Mayesville, she was a daughter of the late Samuel A. Nelson and Mary Ella Gantt Nelson Pearson and stepdaughter of the late Ed Pearson. She attended the Bloomville-area schools of Clarendon County. She joined Goodwill Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member, and later was affiliated with Jehovah’s Witnesses until the time of her death.
Survivors include a son, Leon Holliday of Richmond Heights, Fla.; two daughters, Beatrice L. Calaman of Carol City, Fla., and Lois Summers of New Brunswick; a sister, Ethel Williams of Philadelphia, Pa.; 30 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five children, Donella “Dot” Dupree, Oscar Levi Holliday, William Luther “Sonny” Holliday, Simon Holliday and Blease Holliday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Greeleyville, U.S. Highway 521 East, Manning, with Brother Ed Ross and Brother General Benbow officiating. Burial will be in Goodwill Baptist Church Cemetery, Goodwill Church Road, Manning.
The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Friday.
The family will receive friends at the home of her late son and daughter-in-law, Simon and Isabell Holliday, Goodwill Church Road, Manning.
Samuels Funeral Home of Manning is in charge of arrangements.

LOIS A. KUBACH
FLORENCE — Lois Amanda Kubach of Florence died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence.
Born Jan. 4, 1935, in Union, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Charles Karl Kubach and Eleanor Mae Abbey Kubach.
Survivors include a brother, the Rev. Alan C. Kubach of Flat Rock, N.C.; three cousins, Ruth Mangert of Stanton, Va., Claire Britkopf of Elizabeth, N.J., and Norma Tully of Cherry Hill, N.C.
Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John United Methodist Church cemetery at Springhill with the Rev. Marion Watkins officiating.
Memorials may be made to Pinecrest Presbyterian Music Fund, Flat Rock, NC 28731.

Anthony Cabbagestalk, 46, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at his home, 280 W. Williams St.

Darcas Carpenter, wife of Joe T. Carpenter, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at her home.

WILLIE GRANT
CORONA LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — Willie Grant, 81, husband of Hattie Shaw Grant, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, in New York.
Born Nov. 26, 1920, in Borden, he was a son of the late Charlie and Carrie Taylor Grant.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in New York.

ANN N. JACKSON
BISHOPVILLE — Ann Mary Newman Jackson died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at her home in Baltimore, Md.
Born in Elliott, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Bertha “Sid” Newman and niece of the late Edell Newman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Baltimore.

HERMAN PEARSON
MANNING — Herman Pearson, 81, widower of Mattie Smith Pearson and husband of Juanita Nicholas Pearson, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.
Born April 20, 1920, in the Freetown community of Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Willie Pearson and Easter Waiters Pearson. The family will receive friends at the home, 314 Hopkins St., Manning.
Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home of Manning.

Philip M. Sanders died today, Dec. 7, 2001.

Mary “Decky” Dobson Strange died today, Dec. 7, 2001, at the home of her sister in Myrtle Beach.

Mary Wilson Walker, 96, died today, Dec. 7, 2001, at Covenant Place.

ROSA M. WHITE
PINEWOOD — Rosa “Dute” McKnight White, 99, widow of Christopher C. “Pee Vine” White, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Hopewell HealthCare Center.
Born Aug. 18, 1902, in the Rimini community of Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Johnnie McKnight and Lillie Hampton McKnight.
The family will receive friends at the home of her niece, Beatrice McKnight, 2002 Drayton and McKnight Road, Rimini.
Services will be announced by Fleming Funeral Home of Summerton.

ARLEN O. ATKINSON
TURBEVILLE — Arlen O’Neal Atkinson, 82, wife of Donnie H. Atkinson Sr., died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at her home, after an illness.
Born in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Richardson Floyd and Nellie Iro Pigate. She was a member of Turbeville First Baptist Church, where she served as organist/pianist for more than 40 years as well as serving in various other positions faithfully for a number of years. She was a retired dry goods store owner and a homemaker.
Survivors besides her husband of the home include two sons, Donnie Atkinson Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, of Cades and Tommy Atkinson and his wife, Faye, of Sumter; two daughters, Sandra McElveen and her husband, Jerry, of New Zion and Carol Parker and her husband, Freddie, of Turbeville; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Carlyle Floyd; and a sister, Sybil F. Hall.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Turbeville. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Turbeville First Baptist Cemetery Fund or Building Fund.

BUDDY BURNETTE
Buddy Burnette, 66, husband of Cecilia Lester Burnette, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.
Born in Chatteroy, W.Va., he was a son of the late John and Hessie Burnette. He was employed by Kenny Southland Metal Heat Treating Co. and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors besides his wife of Sumter include five sons, Kenny Burnette of California, Johnny Burnette of Cameron, N.C., Perry Burnette of Graham, N.C., Levi Burnette of Sumter and Matthew Burnette of Daytona, Fla.; a daughter, Vada Burnette of Tallahassee, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Keeley Burnette and Jack Burnette.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Sportsman Outdoor World in Dalzell.

EUGENE N. GEDDINGS
Eugene Nicholes Geddings, 95, of Chapel Hill, N.C., widower of Rhona Terris Geddings, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at UNC Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in May of 1906, in Sumter County. He graduated from Clemson University in 1928, with an engineering degree, and received an advance degree from Polytechnic Institute of New York. He lived for a number of years in Wilmington and Whispering Pines before moving to Chapel Hill with his daughter. He was a retired assistant manager of the Mallinckrodt Chemical Co. plant in Jersey City, N.J., and a retired major in the Army Reserve. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Glenn Geddings Sumner and her husband, Mark, of Chapel Hill; five sisters, Glenn Geddings Sewell, Margaret Geddings Beatson, and Maria Geddings Follin, all of Sumter, Gladys G. Dietz of Bessemer, Ala., and T.W. Geddings of Delphos, Ohio; three grandchildren, Laura S. Kaplan and her husband, Michael, of Los Angeles, Mark Reese Sumner Jr. and his wife, Andrea, of Durham, and Kenneth Worley Sumner and his wife, Lucy, of Chapel Hill; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Coble Funeral Home in Wilmington, N.C. Burial was in the National Cemetery in Wilmington.
Memorials may be made to The Little Chapel on the Boardwalk, 2 West Fayetteville St., Wrightsville Beach, N.C., 28480 or to the USO, P.O. Box 96860, Washington, DC 20090.
Coble Funeral Home of Wilmington was in charge of arrangements.

Geneva Virlyn McLeod, 54, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at her home.

KELLY N. BROWN
PICKENS — Kelly Nicole Brown, 25, of 1334 Bethlehem Ridge Road, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Born in Union County, she was a daughter of William H. and Nancy Harrison Brown of Easley. She received a bachelor’s degree in animal science, as well as a master’s degree in zoology, from Clemson University.
She was an adjunct faculty member at Greenville Technical College, and was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church.
Survivors besides her parents include her fiance, Brad Caldwell of Pickens; a sister and brother-in-law, Amy B. and Sean Andersen of Ladson; grandmothers, Gladys Harrison of Piedmont and Mildred Brown of Sumter; and a niece, Sydney Andersen of Ladson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Andrew United Methodist Church with the Rev. Julian Ford and the Rev. Dr. T.A. DeVenny officiating.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The casket will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of her parents, 101 Andrews Corner, Easley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hand Bell Fund of St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 309 Pelzer Highway, Easley, SC 29642.
Robinson Funeral Home of Easley is in charge of arrangements.
