STANLEY GOLDEN -- Funeral services for Stanley Golden, conducted by Bishop Kenneth Swaringer, were held Sat., Aug. 3, 2002, at Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home Chapel in Kingstree. Mr. Golden, 45, died Sat., July 27, 2002, in Richland County Memorial Hospital. He was born June 20, 1957, in Trio, a son of Mrs. Mary E. Bynum and the late Charles Gibson and reared by Marion Golden. He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was employed as a transportation laborer for St. Stephen Meat Packing Company. He attended St. John Apostolic church. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Brooklyn, New York, are: his wife, Mrs. Rosa G. Golden of Greeleyville; and his sister, Sylvia Gibson of Brooklyn, New York.

DAVID MILLER -- David Kelley Miller, 61, died Tues., July 30, 2002, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, were held Thurs., Aug. 1, 2002, in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mr. Miller was born in Kingstree, a son of the late Charles Edward Miller and Minnie Spivey Miller. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and Clemson University, with a degree in agricultural engineering. He was a retired farmer. In 1986, he, and his brother, Jimmy, received the Farmer of the Year award in Williamsburg County. He had served on the Board of Directors and as secretary of the Tri-County Cotton Growers Asso-ciation and was involved in the development and success of Tri-County Cotton Gin. He was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, a past president of the Kingstree Lions Club, the Kingstree Jaycees and the Kingstree Chamber of Commerce. An avid tennis player, he had coached the Williamsburg Academy Tennis team. Survivors are: his wife, Elizabeth (Bette) Hinson Miller; two daughters, Kelley M. Brinson of Pawleys Island; and Kent M. Burrows of Kingstree; and three brothers, Charles E. Miller, Jr., of Mt. Pleasant; Donald S. Miller of Homer, Alaska; and James S. Miller of Salters.

LAMAR JOHNSON -- Lamar Nathaniel Johnson, 78, died Sun., July 28, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services were held Wed., July 31, 2002, in the Kingstree United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Williamsburg Cemetery. Mr. Johnson was born in Kingstree, a son of Shelly Thelma McClary Johnson and John McKuren Johnson. He attended Williamsburg County Schools and was retired from the South Carolina Dept. of Transportation. Mr. Johnson was a member of Kingstree Masonic Lodge #46, a Shriner with Omar Temple, a member of the American Legion Post #8, and was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church, where he held several offices over the years. He was currently serving as chairman of the Williamsburg Transportation Com-mittee. Survivors are: his wife, Elizabeth Duke Johnson of Kingstree; two daughters, Mrs. Debbie Hanniford of Florence; and Mrs. Tresa Dubuisson of Seattle, Washington; two brothers, Allen Johnson of Kingstree; and Randy Johnson of Myrtle Beach; and three sisters, Elizabeth Buddin of Cades; Sue Nell Hodges of Macon, Georgia; and Betty Lou Bolander of Auburndale, Florida.

EDGAR McCREA -- Funeral services for Edgar "Dick" McCrea, conducted by Brother Moses Wilson, were held Mon., Aug. 5, 2002, at Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. McCrea, 82, died July 31, 2002, in Williamsburg Regional Hospital. He was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Cicero McCrea and Mary Cunningham McCrea. He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was employed as a construction laborer in the Swain Construction. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Hazel McCrea of the home; six sons, Edgar McCrea, Jr., of Kingstree; Earnest McCrea, Eddie McCrea, Thomas Lee McCrea, Norman McCrea and Sylvanus McCrea, all of Rochester, New York; five daughters, Celestine McCrea of Kingstree; Mrs. Elizabeth Parker, Mrs. Julia Lethbridge, Mrs. Barbara Lawson and Gwendolyn McCrea, all of Rochester, New York; one brother, Cicero McCrea of Kingstree; and two sisters, Mrs. Eloise McCrea Burrows and Mrs. Lottie Mae Moyd, both of Kingstree;

O'NEAL DURANT, SR. -- Funeral services for O'neal Durant, Sr., conducted by Bishop Kenneth Swaringer, were held Sun., Aug. 4, 2002, at Greater St. John Apostolic Church in Greeleyville. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Old Keels Cemetery. Mr. Durant, 55, died Aug. 1, 2002, at Tuomey Hospital in Sumter. He was born in Greeleyville, a son of Robert Durant and the late Mrs. Bell Robinson Durant. He was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County and was a member of Greater St. John Apostolic Church. He was em-ployed by the South Carolina Department of Transportation as a maintenance supervisor. Survivors, in addition to his father of Greeleyville, are: his wife, Mrs. Annie Janette Durant of the home; two sons, O'šneal Durant, Jr., and Lionel Maurice Scott, both of Greeleyville; one daughter, Victoria Marie Scott of Greeleyville; two brothers, Alexander Durant of Lane; and Calvin Durant of Columbia; two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Dukes and Bobbie A. Durant, both of Greeleyville; and his mother-in-law, Pastor Victoria Washington.

JOHNNY BURGESS -- Funeral services for Johnny Lee Burgess, conducted by the Rev. Willie Wilson, were held Friday, May 17, 2002, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Goodwill Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Cades. Mr. Burgess, 42, died Monday, May 13, 2002, at the Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree. He was born March 23, 1960, in Williamsburg County to Tommy Burgess and the late Julia Ann Pendergrass Burgess. He received his formal education at Cades High School. He was employed as a utility man with Firestone Building Products and was a member of the House of God Church. Survivors include: his wife, Annie Mae Ferguson Burgess of the home; five sons, Jerome Ferguson of Kingstree, Harold Wheeler of Norfolk, Virginia, Derrick Wheeler and Dwight Wheeler, both of the home and Joey Cunningham of Kingstree; three daughters, Claudia McKenzie of Myrtle Beach, Suanetta Tisdale of Kingstree, and Sharon Johnson of Greensboro, North Carolina; five brothers, Moses Burgess of Cades, Tommy James Burgess of Charleston, Ceotis Burgess of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, John Earl Burgess and Curtis Burgess, both of Kingstree; and five sisters, the Rev. Lillie Williams, Betty Ferguson, Martha Matthews and Mary Beth Burgess, all of Kingstree, and the Rev. Mary Evans of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

JOHN BULTER -- Funeral services for John L. Butler, conducted by Elder Linwood Cooper, were held Friday, May 17, 2002, at St. Mark Holiness Church in Lake City. Burial, directed by Samuels and Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Howard Chapel Church Cemetery in New Zion. Mr. Bulter, 54, died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at the Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born to the late Rev. Eugene Bulter and Lurlean Welch Bulter in Florence County on Oct. 26, 1947. He received his formal education in the public schools of Florence County. He was a member of St. Mark Holiness Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Geradean Bulter of the home; one step-daughter, Shalanda Manigault of Florence; two brothers, the Rev. Chester Bulter and Rhett Bulter, both of Bronx, New York; and five sisters, Elizabeth Simon of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Creola Burgess of Scranton; Cath-erine Scott, Sueanna McClam and Roberta Smith, all of Bronx, New York.

BARBARA COOPER -- Funeral services for Barbara Ann Cooper, conducted by the Rev. Edward Roberts, were held Friday, May 10, 2002, at Clauddie Henryhand Memorial Chapel. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery in Nesmith. Miss Cooper died Monday, May 6, 2002, at her residence in Kingstree. She was born January 1, 1957, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late James and Ida Pressley Cooper. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. Survivors are: one sister, Mary Felder of Clifton, New Jersey; and two brothers, James Cooper, Jr., of Loris and Harry L. Cooper of Patterson, New Jersey.

STEVEN DOWLING -- Funeral services for Steven Dowling, conducted by Elder Linwood Cooper and Bishop J. Bernard McCray, were held Saturday, May 11, 2002, at Clauddie Henryhand Memorial Chapel. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Kennedyville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Dowling was born July 12, 1967, in Brooklyn, New York, at Maimonides Hospital, a son of Lillie and McKenly Dowling. He graduated from Kingstree Senior High School and pursued a bachelors degree in psychology from Brooklyn Manhattan Community College. He traveled the world as an administrator for GE Capital International North America. Survivors, in addition to his mother, are: two brothers, Eric F. Robinson and Willie Mitchell; and one sister, Nyota Muhammad.

DONALD McCLAM -- Donald Ray McClam, 59, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002. Graveside funeral services were held Thursday, May 16, 2002, in the Matthews Cemetery near Coward, with burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home, following. Mr. McClam was born in Lake City, a son of the late Levi and Lero Lee McClam. Survivors are: one daughter, Laura M. Owens of Hemingway; and eight sisters, Jettie Cannon, Betty Mann, Ruby Eaddy, all of Kingstree; Mary Smith of Cades; Mellie Christofi and Lela Metts, both of Columbia; Vickie Sommers of San Antonio, Texas; and Evelyn Hildebrand of Florence.
