HARRISON -- Funeral services for Boysie B. Harrison were held Thursday, November 18, 1999, at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Salters, conducted by the Rev. Rufus Snowden. Burial followed in Smith-Cooper Cemetery in Salters directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Harrison died November 18, 1999, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center in Columbia. He was born February 11, 1911. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Salters. Harrison was married to the late Elizabeth Miller Harrison for 56 years. Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Libbie H. Cloud of Columbia; and one son, Joe L. Harrison of Salters.

CAROLINA -- Funeral services for Mrs. Vermell Gist Carolina were held Thursday, November 18, 1999, at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Greeleyville, conducted by the Rev. Albert Rose, Jr. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Gist, 94, died Saturday, November 13, 1999, at Honorage Nursing Center in Florence. She was born November 6, 1905, in Greeleyville, a daughter of the late Pinkie Gamble. She was married to the late Jeffrie Carolina. She was a member of St. James Baptist Church, where she was Mother of the Church, sang on the senior choir and was a member of the missionary society. She was also a member of the Abigail Lodge and the Pride of Foreston Chapter #131 Order of Eastern Star. Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Estell Staggers of Darlington; one son, Ivory Charles Ferell of Florence; one brother, J. C. Blanding of NC; and three sisters, Mrs. Essie China of Fayetteville, NC; Mrs. Virgree King of Foreston; and Ivory Gist of Troy, NY.

COOPER -- Funeral services for Sam Cooper, Jr. were held Saturday, November 20, 1999, at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Lake City, conducted by the Rev. Garrett. Burial followed in the Barr Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Cooper, 79, died November 16, 1999, at Dorn Medical Center in Columbia. He was born January 12, 1920, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Samuel Elliot and Mary Wilson Cooper. He was a retiree of Wellman Industrial Company. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in World War II. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the United Methodist Men. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Ella Mae Cooper of Nesmith; four sons, Frankie L. Cooper of San Franciso, CA; Robert Lee Cooper of Jacksonville, FL; Sam D. Cooper of Washington, DC; and Carl Cooper of Greenville; six daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Cameron of Pittsburg, PA; Mrs. Bennie Champion of Washington, DC; Mrs. Lois Fulmore of Lake City; Mrs. Beverlyn Larry of Suitland, MD; Mrs. Mary Brown of Honolulu, HI; and Mrs. Andrea Proctor of Germany; three grandchildren reared as his own, Sebastain Cooper of Jacksonville, NC; Claretha Cooper of Augusta, GA; and Edward Cooper of Nesmith; four sisters, Mrs. Elsie Gethers of Philadelphia, PA; and Mrs. Louis Barr of Florence; Mrs. Alice Singletary of Lake City; and Mrs. Odessa Chandler of Kingstree; and three brothers, James Cooper of Baltimore, MD; Henry Cooper of New York City, NY; and the the Rev. Clyde Cooper of Plainfield, NJ. a special niece and nephew, Mrs. Elsie Halls of Philadelphia, PA and Sammie Lee Chandler of Kingstree; 22 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

SCOTT -- Funeral services for Roosevelt "Son" Scott were held Thurs., Nov. 18, 1999, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Willie Wilson. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemtery in Kingstree directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Scott, 66, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Ronald McNair Nursing Home. He was born October 3, 1934, in Kingstree, a son of the late Henry M. Scott and Sudie E. Wilson Scott. He was a retired employee of the King County Hospital after 40 years of service. Survivors are: his children, Mrs. Barbara White of Andrews; Mary Frances Burrows of Kingstree; Larry Roosevelt Scott of Kingstree; Michelle Scott of Savannah, GA; Nneka Shaun Mintz of Virginia Beach, VA; five sisters, Mrs. Hattie Abraham and Naomi Moultire, both of Brooklyn, NY; Mrs. Clara Smith of Kingstree; and his twin sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson of Bolton, NC; and Mrs. Margaret Washington of Kingstree; and three brothers, James E. Scott of Kingstree; Henry Scott of Durham, NC; and Joseph Scott of New York City, NY.

CONYERS -- Mable Marie Reid Conyers, 67, died Tuesday, November 16, 1999, at her residence. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 18, 1999, in Gilead Free Will Baptist church near Lake City. Burial followed in Kingstree Memorial Gardens directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Conyers was born in Spruce Pine, NC, a daughter of the late James B. and Zella Biddix Reid. She was a retired supervisor at Craig Industries in Lamar. She was a member of Gilead Free Will Baptist Chruch in Lake City. Survivors are: her husband, E. M. (Buck) Conyers; two sons, James E. Conyers and George P. Conyers, both of Kingstree; four daughters, Paula C. Martin of Kingstree; Debbie C. Reed of Lake City; Rose C. Femal of Hartsville; and Mary J. Conyers of Effingham; two brothers, Tommy Reid of Liverpool, NY; and Paul Reid of Florence; and four sisters, Bessie Sue McClary and Roberta Cox, both of Kingstree; Lois Ann Clark of Seattle, Washington; and Lucille Judge of Florence.

BURGESS -- Charles Clarence Burgess, III, 58, died Sunday, November 14, 1999, in Columbia. Graveside funeral services were held Friday, November 19, 1999, in Williamsburg Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Burgess was the son of the late Charles C. Burgess, Jr. and Emma Keels Burgess. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School, The Citadel, USC School of Law and USC's MBA Program. He was a tax analyst for the SC Department of Revenue and a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church. Prior to his position with the state, he was a Trust Officer with South Carolina National Bank. He was also a member of the Palmetto Shag Club, the Columbia Shag Club and Weejunıs. Surviving is his mother of Columbia.

KENNEDY -- Funeral services for Calhoun Kennedy were held Saturday, November 27, 1999, at Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home Chapel in Kingstree. Burial followed in Cowhead Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Kennedy, 50, died Tuesday, November 23, 1999, at Georgetown County Memorial Hospital. He was born October 28, 1949, in Williamsburg County, a son of Elijah Kennedy, Sr. and the late Mrs. Donnie Cooper Kennedy. Survivors are: two brothers, Elijah Kennedy, Jr. of Lane; and Varick Kennedy of Atlanta, GA; and one sister, Mrs. Valricka White of New York City, NY.

MURRAY -- Funeral services for Pastor Harrison Murray, Sr. were held Sat., Nov. 27, 1999, at Bibleway Church in Lane, conducted by the Elder Thomas Plowden and the Bishop Kenneth Swaringer. Burial followed in Big Spring Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Pastor Murray died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born January 3, 1925, a son of the late Puitt Murray and Neisha Murray. Survivors are: five sons, James Murray and Elder Nathaniel Murray, both of Lane; Willie Murray of Bronx, NY; Elder Abraham Murray of Philadelphia, PA; and Lee Murray of St. Stephen; four daughters, Mrs. Barbara Epps of Kingstree; Mrs. Dorothy Dukes of Lane; Evangelist Gloria Davis of St. Stephen; and Mrs. Ollie Tucker of Moncks Corner; a grandchild reared as his own, Yoland Dukes of Lane; three brothers, Leo Murray, Ernest Murray of Foreston; and Puitt Murray of Manning; and two sisters, Mrs. Florie Hilton of Jordan; and Mrs. Connie Conyers of New Haven, CT.

DAVIS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Generette Davis were held Fri., November 26, 1999, at Nazareth A.M.E. Church in Johnsonville, conducted by the Rev. Harriet Massengill. Burial followed in Jerusalem A.M.E. Church Cemetery in Johnsonville directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Davis, 73, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at her residence in Johnsonville. She was born April 21, 1916, in Johnsonville, a daughter of the late Abraham Generette and Georgia Rodgers Generette. She was a member of Nazareth A.M.E. Church, where she served on the Missionary Board as President and a member of the Trustee Board. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Carswell Davis.

SALISBURY -- Mrs. Doris Weston Salisbury, 97, of Kettering, Northamptonshire, England, died on Monday, November 22, 1999. Funeral services were held Monday, November 29, 1999 at the Kettering Crematorium. She was a homemaker and retired seamstress. She was the daughter of the late William John Weston and Frances Louise Isham Weston. She was the widow of the late Alfred Burgess Salisbury and the mother of the late Doreen Salisbury Welch. She was a member of the Fuller Baptist Church of Kettering. Survivors are: one sister, Irene A. Weston Hewitt of Barton Seagrave; and one brother, Robert Arthur Weston of Kettering.
