GUYTON -- Erline Randall Guyton, 78, of Atlanta, died Saturday, December 11, 1999, as a result of a house fire. Memorial services were held Tuesday, December 14, 1999, at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church. Burial followed at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Duluth directed by Cremation Society of the South. Guyton was a Portrait Model and a sales representative for Dalton Carpets in Atlanta. She was a member of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church. Survivors are: three children, Elizabeth Guyton Brady of Conyers; Marion Guyton Henson of Covington, GA; and Evans N. ³Buddy² Guyton, Jr. of Maui, Hawaii.

GUYTON -- Evans N. Guyton, Sr., 82, of Atlanta, died Saturday, December 11, 1999, as a result of a house fire. Memorial services were held Tuesday, December 14, 1999, at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church. Burial followed at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Duluth directed by Cremation Society of the South. Guyton was as controller with the former Long Realty Corporation Atlanta. He was a member of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran. Survivors are: three children, Elizabeth Guyton Brady of Conyers; Marion Guyton Henson of Covington, GA; and Evans N. ³Buddy² Guyton, Jr. of Maui, Hawaii; and one sister, Lillian Guyton McLean of Charleston.

YOUNG -- Maude Fralix Young, 86, widow of Dr. Foster H. Young, Sr., died Tuesday, December 14, 1999, in a Florence hospital. Graveside funeral services were held Thursday, December 16, 1999, in Kingstree Memorial Gardens directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Young was born in Charleston, a daughter of the late Cassie Edgar Fralix and Maude Wiggins Fralix. She was a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina with a degree in nursing and received her public health degree from Peabody College in Nashville, TN. She was a retired registered nurse and was a member of Kingstree First Baptist church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and G.A. leader. Survivors are: one son, Dr. Foster H. Young, Jr. of Kingstree; two daughters, Mary LaRue Young of Charleston; and Virginia Amelia Young of Kingstree; one brother, W. Atmar Fralix of Charleston; and three sisters, Mary Radey of Titusville, Fla.; Elizabeth Purvis of Savannah, GA; and Dorothy Campbell of Charleston.

MIXON -- Roy Mixon, 78, died Wednesday, December 15, 1999, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 18, 1999, at Piney Forest Baptist Church, conducted by the Reverend James May and the Reverend Thomas Mellette. Burial followed in Piney Forest Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Mixon was born in the Carvers Bay section of Georgetown County on August 26, 1921, a son of the late Maxie Casselman and Essie Corine Avant Casselman. He was a former employee of International Paper Company in Georgetown and Blakely Brothers Furniture Company in Andrews. He started his own furniture business, Roy Mixon Company, in Andrews in 1967. His first wife, Claudia Mae Casselman Mixon, died in 1962. He was a member of Black River Original Free Will Baptist Church and had been active in the affairs of the church and also of Piney Forest Baptist Church. He served the Black River Church as Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Superintendent of the Sunday school, Sunday school teacher, Chairman of the Building Committee and choir director. He was also a member of Harpers Lodge #225, Ancient Free Masons and the Woodmen of the World. Survivors are: his wife, Corine Ethridge Mixon of Andrews; three sons, Dennis Mixon of Georgetown; and Gerald Mixon and Dana Mixon, both of Andrews; two daughters, Roberta M. Cox and Brenda M. Wilson, both of Andrews; two step-sons, Lee Roy Jacobs, Jr. of Andrews; and Kendall Jacobs of Chesterfield; and one half-brother, Alvin Wilder of Hemingway; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

BROCKINGTON -- Funeral services for Bazie Edward Brockington were held Sunday, December 19, 1999, at Saint Michael Baptist Church in New Zion, conducted by the Reverend John W. Wilson. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Brockington, 60, died Tuesday, December 14, 1999, at his residence in Kingstree. He was born February 21, 1939, in Trio, a son of the late Bazie Brockington, Sr. and Willa Mae Brown Brockington. He was formerly employed as a cement construction worker in Florida. He attended Saint Michael Baptist Church. He was married to the former Johnnie Mae McDonald. Survivors are: one daughter, Rosemary Brockington of Sunrise, FL; three brothers, Deacon Charles Brockington, Bobbie Joe Brockington and Deacon Joseph Brockington, all of Kingstree; and four sister, Mrs. Neather Mae Goodwin of Kingstree; Mrs. Lula Marie Tisdale of Peekskill, NY; Mrs. Eliza Ann McFadden of Hopesound, FL; and Mrs. Lila Jackson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

BAXLEY -- Raymond Vernon Baxley, Sr., 69, died Sunday, December 19, 1999, in a Kingstree hospital. Funeral services were held December 21, 1999, in the Williams Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by Morris Funeral Home. Baxley was born in Georgetown County, a son of the late George Washington Baxley, Sr. and the late Azalee Ray Baxley. He was the retired Public Works Director for Williamsburg County and attended Pleasant Hill Schools. Survivors are: his wife, Jimmie Lee Marsh Baxley of the home; one son, Raymond V. Baxley, Jr. of Kingstree; five daughters, Annette Bradham of Bishopville, SC; Marsha Saxon of Hampton, SC; Linda Long of Hemingway; Sylvia Disher and Jannette Phipps, both of Kingstree; three brothers, George W. Baxley, Jr. of Johnsonville; John Coris Baxley of Kingstree; and Joseph Dalton Baxley of Canton, NC; and three sisters, Sarah Carol Poston of Hemingway; Geneva Yarborough of Clyde, NC; and Arcie Yvonne Loveless of Mullins.

FLAGLER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Louise Mitchum Flagler were held Monday, December 13, 1999, at Bethel United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Sam Lucas. Burial followed in the church's cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mitchum, 68, died December 9, 1999, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born September 5, 1931, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Isaac and Nellie McCullough Mitchum. She was a member of Old Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Survivors are: three sons, Keith Flagler, Kenneth Flagler and Terrence Flagler, all of Kingstree; six daughters, Joan Flagler of Jamaica, NY; Mrs. Sandra Dudley of Brooklyn, NY; Mrs. Virnese Seward of Andrews; Mrs. Alma Jean Johnson of Philadelphia, PA; Mrs. Mary Tandia of Ames, IA; and Mrs. Onethia Rivers of Tabyhannah, PA; two brothers, Isaac Mitchum, Jr. of Manning; and James Mitchum of Kingstree; six sisters, Mrs. Nina Tucker and Mrs. Ruth Mitchum, both of Brooklyn, NY: Mrs. Emma Cooper of Kingstree; Mrs. Thelma Mitchum of Andrews; Mrs. Barbara Jean Mitchum and Mrs. Roxie Dozier, both of Manning; and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Lizzie Flagler of Kingstree.

BURROWS -- Richard Gregory (Greg) Burrows, 27, died recently in Richmond, VA. Graveside funeral services were held Sunday, December 19, 1999, in Kingstree Memorial Gardens directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Burrows was born in Kingstree, a son of Betty Jo Rodgers Burrows Duke and Richard Gibson Burrows. He was a graduate of Williamsburg Academy and was an employee of Davie Tree Co. in Richmond. Survivors, in addition to his parents, are: one son, Phillip Michael Burrows of Kingstree; his step-mother, Jane B. Burrows of Kingstree; one half-sister, Kristen Burrows of Kingstree; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rodgers of Kingstree; and his paternal grandparents, Mrs. Jimmie B. Burrows of Kingstree; and Riley Gibson Burrows of Ft. Pearce, FL.

MOORE -- Samuel George Moore, Jr., 69, died Monday, December 20, 1999, in the Lake City hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 22, 1999, in the Brockington Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Lake City Memorial Park directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Moore was born in Lake City, a son of the late Samuel G. Moore, Sr. and Elma Godwin Moore. He was a graduate of Lake City High School and attended Clemson University. He retired as plant manager and vice presient of T. S. Ragsdale Company, Inc. of Lake City in 1987 after 41 years. He was the owner and operator of Lane¹s Skating Rink and Moore's Skating Rink for 50 years. He was a member of Pergamos United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee and member of the pastor-parish committee for many years. He was a member of Lake City Masonic Lodge #193. Survivors are: his wife, Mary Elizabeth ³Lib² Lane Moore of Lake City; two sons, Stephen Allan Moore and Dexter Lane Moore, both of Lake City; one daughter, Linda Moore-Morris of Lake City; and three sisters, Evelyn M. Perkins of Atlanta, GA; Mrs. Lib Nexsen of Kingstree; and Mrs. Billie June Fike of Tampa, FL.

GOWDY -- Mrs. Thessie C. Gowdy, 96, widow of Wilford B. Gowdy, Sr., died Wednesday, December 22, 1999, in The Hyman Home in Johnsonville. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 23, 1999, in the Hebron Independent Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Gowdy was born in Andrews, a daughter of the late George W. and Edith Haselden Camlin. She was a graduate of Winthrop University and was a former school teacher in the Williamsburg County School System. She was a homemaker and a member of Hebron Independent Church. Survivors are: one son, Wilford B. Gowdy, Jr. of Cades; and two sisters, Mildred Davis of Lexington; and Edith Cox of Raleigh, NC.
