COARD -- Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Emma Dukes Coard were held Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Union Baptist Church in Salters, conducted by the Rev. Willie Bryant. Burial followed in Hunter Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Coard, 82, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in the Bronx, NY. She was born October 17, 1917, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Wallace Dukes and Emma Jones Dukes Patterson. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and was a member of the senior choir. She was affiliated with Abilgail Benevolent Society and Mt. Hope Chapter #286 Order of the Eastern Star. She was the widow of the Rev. Joseph Coard. Survivors are: seven children, Mrs. Ethel Coard of Phil-adelphia, PA; Harry Coard of Richmond, VA; Pearsall Coard of Allendale, SC; Mary Coard Gordon of Brooklyn, NY; Patricia Coard Carr of the Bronx, NY; Joseph Coard, Jr. of Augusta, GA; and Master Sergeant John Coard of Germany; and one sister, Mrs. Beulah D. Reid of Greeleyville.

MONTGOMERY -- Funeral services for James Thomas Montgomery were held Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home Chapel in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Albert Rose. Burial followed at St. James Baptist Church Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Montgomery, 45, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born July 16, 1954, in Columbia, a son of the late Professor David Mont-gomery and Cleo Epps Mont-gomery. He was a farmer. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Katie Montgomery of Olanta; two daughters, Corenthia Montgomery and Wanda Montgomery, both of Olanta,; three sisters, Mrs. Virglee Montgomery of Danbury, CT; Mrs. Bessie Dukes and Betty Pompey, both of Greeleyville; five brothers, Jack Montgomery of Myrtle Beach; John Henry Montgomery, Julius Keels and Eugene Dukes, all of Greeleyville; and Lee Dann Keels of the Bronx, NY; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Ella Graham of Olanta.

KINGCAID -- Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva Dukes Kingcaid were held Saturday, April 22, 2000, at St. Mark A.M.E. Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. R. C. Vanderhorst. Burial was directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Kingcaid, 76, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at McLeod Medical Center in Florence. She was born October 23, 1923, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Jessie Dukes and Hester Mitchum Dukes. She was a member of St. Mark A.M.E. Church and was a former member of the choir. She was the widow of the Phillip Kingcaid. Survivors are: four sons, James Gamble, Roosevelt Kingcaid and Leroy Kingcaid, all of Rochester, NY; and Joseph Dukes of Louisville, KY; five daughters, Mrs. Sherry Ivory of Rochester, NY; Mrs. Norma Jean Kingcaid of Lake City; and Mrs. Catherine Fulton, Mrs. Rennessa Kingcaid and Mrs. Margie Belle Green, all of Kingstree; two step-children, Mrs. Matilda Ramsey and Willie Dukes, both of Ocala, FL; five brothers, George Dukes and James Dukes, both of Kingstree; Jessie Dukes of Florence; and Harris Dukes and Fred Dukes, both of Rochester, NY; and three sisters, Mrs. Sullie Shaw, Mrs. Ethel Lee McCrea of Kingstree; and Mrs. Stella Bennett of Rochester, NY.

FORD -- Funeral services for Mrs. Queen Esther Tisdale Lee Ford were held Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Saint Peteršs World Outreach Center in Winston-Salem, NC, conducted by the Rev. Dr. J. C. Hash, Sr. Burial followed in the Canaan A.M.E. Church Cemetery in Andrews directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. Ford, 77, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Salem, NC. She was born April 6, 1933, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Johnnie Tisdale and Maggie McKnight. She was a member of Saint Peter's World Outreach Center, where she served on the Mother's Board and Women's Choir. She was employed at Courtyard by Marriot. Survivors are: three sons, Joe Linnie Lee, Gregory Crandle and Stan Lee, all of Winston-Salem, NC; four daughters, Janice Crosby of Andrews; Cynthia Smiley of Peekskill, NY; Karen Lee and Lori Parker, both of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister, Mary Scott of Rochester, NY; and seven brothers, Floyd Tisdale of Kingstree; Padin Tisdale, Johnny Tisdale and Herman Tisdale, all of Andrews; Leo Tisdale of Beaver Falls, PA; George Tisdale of Rochester, NY; and Otto Tisdale of Troy, NY.

KENNEDY -- Louise Dorothy Kennedy died January 6, 2000, in Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. Funeral services for Mrs. Kennedy were held Tuesday, January 11, 2000, at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Lane, conducted by the Rev. C. C. Gordon. Burial followed at Cowhead Cemetery in Gourdin. She was born November 14, 1913, in Williamsburg County, the daughter of the late Calhoun Kennedy and Maebell Blakley Kennedy. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. She was a member of Liberty Work Chapter Order of the Eastern Star number 171 for 22 years. She was self-employed for many years as a seamtress, a hair dresser and a farmer. Survivors are: two brothers, Elijah Kennedy of Lane; and Eugene Kennedy of Lake City; one sister, Janie K. Turner of Jersey City, NJ; and one nephew reared as her own, Elijah Kennedy, Jr. of Lane.

CARTWRIGHT -- Walter Edward "Ed" Cartwright, 75, died Thursday, January 13, 2000 after an illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 15, 2000, in the Cades Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Lake City Memorial Park directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Mr. Cartwright was born in Patesville, Kentucky, a son of the late Andrew and Mary Lillian Shores Cartwright. He retired as a chemist from Baxter Healthcare in Kingstree. Survivors are: his wife, Edna Rogers Cartwright of Kingstree; three sons, Jessie A. Cartwright of Montera, Mexico; Corey J. Cartwright and Ryan E. Cartwright, both of Lake City; one daughter, Patricia C. Metcalf of Akron, Ohio; one step-daughter, Linda E. Myers of Florence; and one sister, Maudie Ford of Owensborough, Kentucky.

PRIDGEN -- Isabel Stone Pridgen, 94, widow of Robert W. Pridgen, Sr., died Tuesday, January 11, 2000, at her residence. Funeral services were held Jan. 13, in the Kingstree First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Steven Williams and the Rev. Paul M. Pridgen, Jr. Burial followed in Williamsburg Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Pridgen was born in Southport, NC, a daughter of the late William Henderson Stone and Margaret St. George Stone. She was a graduate of Columbia College and was a former schoolteacher, having taught in Bladenboro, NC. She was a retired employee of Belk stores in Kingstree and was a member of Kingstree First Baptist Church. Survivors are: one daughter, Bobbie P. Harley of Dillon; two sons, William D. Pridgen of Kingstree; and Robert W. Pridgen, Jr. of Pendleton; and two sisters, Louise Henderson Stone of Myrtle Beach; and Eva S. Long of Atlanta, GA.

NESMITH -- Funeral services for Henry "Little Henry" Nesmith, Jr. were held Saturday, January 18, 2000, at Antioch Baptist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Talbert Dickerson. Burial followed in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Nesmith, 80, died Friday, January 10, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born May 17, 1920, in Nesmith, a son of the late Horace Nesmith and Janie Burroughs McCrea. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and was a church trustee for many years. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Nesmith of Kingstree; one son, Sam Junior Nesmith of Rochester, NY; five daughters, Eloise Nesmith of Bronx, NY; Mrs. Rebecca Nesmith McFadden and Mrs. Mary Griffin, both of Rochester, NY; Mrs. Helen Nesmith McKnight of Kingstree; and Mrs. Thelma Nesmith of Lakeland, FL; one adopted granddaughter, Henrietta Nesmith of Kingstree; three adopted grandsons, Al Cooper Nesmith of Atlanta, GA; Harry Nesmith and Charles Joseph Nesmith, both of Kingstree; and one brother, Isaac Nesmith of Durham, NC.

FULTON -- Funeral services for Joe Doward Fulton were held Tuesday, January 18, 2000, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Willie Wilson. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Fulton, 77, died Thursday, January 13, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born October 22, 1922, in Kingstree, a son of the late Arthur Fulton and Louise Fulton Wilson. He received his bachelor degree from Claflin College in Orangeburg and his master of arts in social studies from SC State University in Orangeburg. He retired as a teacher from St. Mark High School and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America where he was honored with the Silver Beaver Award, a member of Kingstree Masonic Lodge No. 237. He served as Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star #246. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served during World War II. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Charlese Justine McClary Fulton of Kingstree; one daughter, Mrs. Christine Anderson of Los Angeles, CA; one sister, Mrs. Mincie McClary of Kingstree; one step-sister, Mrs. Blanche Burgess of Stanford, CN.; and six step-brothers, Darby Brayboy of Charlotte, NC; Bobby Burgess, Kotel Brayboy of Stanford, CN; Harold Brayboy and David Brayboy, both of Kingstree; and Earl Brayboy of Lake City.

EADDY -- Mrs. Bertha Mae G. Eaddy, 70, widow of Willard Eaddy, Jr., died Tuesday, December 28, 1999, in the Kingstree hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 30, 1999, in the Kingstree Church of God. Burial followed in the Williamsburg Cemetery directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Mrs. Eaddy was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late Dewey and Susie Ridgeway Gibbons. She was a homemaker and a member of the Kingstree Church of God. Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Nancy Morris of Kingstree; one son, William Eaddy of Kingstree; and three brothers, Walters Gibbons of Columbia; William Gibbons and Heyward Gibbons, both of Kingstree.
