December 15, 1911

Van Kingery has the misfortune to turn his ankle and wrench it badly.

Mrs. Al Grebel and Mildred Rundell are in Sioux City attending the
Sunday School convention.

Harry Danforth is now the owner of the former Reynold's hardware
stock, he having purchased it of A. N. Miechen and taking possession
last Saturday.

John Fritz returned from his trip to Texas Wednesday, his mother
from Parry, Ill., coming home with him. While in Texas, he sold his
suburban tract at Victoria $4,000 advance.

The cottage on the forty acre farm east of Hurley, owned by
Thomas Nielsen, was destroyed by fire Friday evening at 7:00.

James Anderson and Miss Esther Mellegaard, both of Hurley, were
married in Parker, Dec. 8, by Judge Edmunds.

The marriage of Miss Johanna Harms, of Germantown, to
Mr. Simon Olthoff of Emery, occurred on Tuesday afternoon,
Dec. 5.

June 21, 1912

A handsome 10 pound daughter was born unto Mr. and Mrs. Will Corkill
on the 15.

E.M. Purkiss had traded wallpaper and paint store Ben Peters for the
late Pfeiffer house in town.

Fred Elce and wife are planning a trip to Montana and the Pacific coast.

September 12, 1912

E.J. Skinner is working in Viborg at bricklaying.

Beulah Edson is teaching near Hooker again this year.

Meinert Bosch as a new automobile and glides around with it
like an aviator.

C.F. Hackett began excavating last Monday for a building on
the site of the New Era office. The building will be one story
at present, brick and concrete and is to be used as post office
and printing office.

A pretty home wedding occurred on Wednesday evening, when
Miss Pearl Smith and Mr. S. Trad were united in marriage with
Rev. Eberhart performing the ceremony.

Albert Plucker is building a new home.

Oct. 25, 1912

K.B. Stoddard has been busy for a fortnight superintending the
building of a mammoth corn crib on his farm in Middleton occupied
by his son, Loren.

Wm. Eggleston has bought the Dr. Fleeger house on east First street,
now occupied by John Waterbury.


George Halverson visited his brother Harry in Bridgewater on Sunday.
Harry had the misfortune to have his leg broken or crushed recently.

Dec. 12, 1912

Frank Mueller is back from Germantown, where he had been husking corn.

Howell Davis bought 36 head of cattle from Artesian this week.

M.T. Sletten has a brand new Reo.

Harm Temple had the misfortune to break a bone in his foot while
boarding a train at Yankton.

Feb. 1, 1913

Ernest Holland is a new member of the sophomore class at Parker High School.

Ideker brothers and Miss Anna are the proud possessors of a new radio outfit.
