Gwendolyn Wells
Houghton -- The funeral for Gwendolyn Wells, 80, of Houghton will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Groton. The Rev. Bill Duncan will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen with Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, in charge of arrangements. A prayer service will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Aberdeen.
She died Saturday, March 24, 2001.
Gwendolyn Edwards was born Nov. 23, 1920, to Thomas and Vivian (Jones) Edwards. She attended Northern Normal and Industrial School. She taught in rural schools near Frederick for four years and at Frederick Public School for one year.
She married Harold Wells on Oct. 3, 1947. They settled in the rural Frederick-Houghton area, where they farmed.
She attended the Houghton and Aberdeen Wesleyan churches until joining the Houghton Christian and Missionary Alliance Church Church. She was an active member of the Houghton Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, was a member of the Sand Lake Extension Club, the Houghton Friendship Club and the Wesleyan Missionary Club.
She played piano and organ in many churches from age 15 until her eyesight failed three years ago. She also enjoyed visiting, drinking tea, traveling, cats, playing cards and making quilts. She was known for her brownies.
Survivors include her husband of Houghton; five daughters, Lila Morris and Brenda (Don) Blair, both of Aberdeen, Lola Stull of Flushing, Mich., Amy (Blake) Wells-Smith of Rockford, Ill., and Melody (Brad) Bonzer of Gayville; one son, Bryan (Ruth) Wells of Sacramento, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister in infancy.
Casketbearers will be Lee 'Tink' Sullivan, Sterling Kenny, Art Frederick, Roy Fauth, Ed Plummer and Jeff Forsting.

Einar W. Skaarhaug
Sioux Falls -- Einar W. Skaarhaug, 98, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Day County, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at his home.

Clarence Holden
Webster -- The funeral for Clarence Holden, 86, of Webster will be at 2 p.m. today at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster. The Rev. Terrill Sorensen and the Rev. Sara Sorensen will officiate.
Burial will be at a later date in Bergen Lutheran Cemetery near Bristol.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. today until the time of the service at the funeral chapel.
He died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at the Bethesda Home of Webster.
Clarence Hjalmer Holden was born May 10, 1914, to Gunder and Emma (Skaare) Holden on the family farm in Lynn Township, Day County. He attended country school in Lynn Township and graduated from Webster High School in 1934. He then farmed with his parents on the family farm. In 1941, he entered the U.S. Army and served for a short time. After he was discharged, he returned to the family farm and farmed with his brothers and later on his own in Lynn and Kidder townships. He retired in 1982, and entered the Waubay Rest Home. In 1992, he suffered a stroke and entered the Bethesda Home of Webster.
He was a member of Bergen Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one brother, Edmund 'Shorty' Holden of Webster; and three sisters, Sylvia Fosheim of Webster, Selma Brandvold of Alhambra, Calif., and Marian Leininger of Oak Brook, Ill.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, one in infancy, and one sister.

Tyler James Iron Wing
Mobridge -- The funeral for Tyler James Iron Wing, infant son of Rhonda Rousseau and Jeff Iron Wing of Mobridge, will be at 2 p.m. CDT Tuesday at Episcopal Church in Whitehorse. The Rev. Jeffry Barnes will officiate.
Burial will be in the church cemetery with Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge in charge of arrangements.
Tyler James Iron Wing was stillborn March 31, 2001, at Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Survivors include his parents of Mobridge; two brothers, Teigan Gray and Tanner Gray, both of Rapid City; two sisters, Molly Rousseau of Mobridge and Braden Gray of Rapid City; maternal grandparents, Doretta Bowker of LaPlant and Pete Rousseau of McIntosh; paternal grandmother, Carrie Iron Wing of Whitehorse; and maternal great-grandmother, Virginia Rousseau of Eagle Butte.
Casketbearers will be Jeff Iron Wing and Jamie White Eyes.

Arvin G. Graff
Eureka -- The funeral for Arvin G. Graff, 65, of Eureka will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Eureka Reformed Church. The Rev. Darrell Kingswood will officiate.
Burial will be in the Eureka City Cemetery with Straub's Funeral Home in Eureka in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. today and Tuesday at the funeral home, and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
He died of natural causes Friday, March 30, 2001, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.
Arvin G. Graff was born March 19, 1936, to Friedrich and Pauline (Wagner) Graff in rural McPherson County. He lived on a farm 18 miles southeast of Eureka. He had lived in Eureka since 1978. He worked as a farm laborer.
He was a member of Eureka Reformed Church.
He enjoyed fishing, listening to German music and reading.
Survivors include his father of Eureka; four sisters, Donna Kappes of Long Lake, Mildred Suchomel and Arlys Grismer, both of Aberdeen, and Emilie Heupel of Venturia, N.D.; two brothers, Raymond J. Graff of Eureka and Herbert Graff of Hosmer.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Casketbearers will be Jacob Kirschenmann, Glenn Graff, Larry Heupel, Tim Paulsen, Sandy Nelson and Neal Kappes.

Hans Joens Jr.
Eagle Butte -- The funeral for Hans Joens Jr., 87, of Eagle Butte will be at 2 p.m. MDT Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte.
Burial will be in the United Eagle Butte Cemetery. Luce Funeral Home of Eagle Butte is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the church.
He died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Mobridge.
Hans Henry Joens Jr. was born Feb. 17, 1914, to Hans Joens Sr. and Alvena (Schlie) Joens at Ipswich. He worked for the Civil Conservation Corps in Pierre and helped build Farm Island in 1935 and 1936. He was the last known survivor of CCC to have worked on that project.
He married Otha Marie Roy on Feb. 17, 1937, in Orofino, Idaho. He farmed and ranched in Idaho for seven years. He also drove a team and wagon school bus for two years for a country school. He then moved his family to Eagle Butte to be close to his parents. He worked for the railroad for two years, and then moved to his parents' home place on Green Grass, where he took care of their cattle and later bought them. He then bought the Lawson Brewer place and lived there for 11 years. In 1957, he bought the Carl Peterson place and lived there the remainder of his life.
He loved to go to the Nutrition Center. He also loved to dance.
Survivors include his wife of Eagle Butte; two sons, Fred Joens of Eagle Butte and Leroy Joens of Kingston, Pa.; five daughters, Dorothy Clark of Hoven, Joann (Paul) King of Scranton, Pa., Tillie Woolsey of Eagle Butte, Donna (Farrell) DeLapp of Garrison, Mont., and Connie (Ralph) Falcon of Eldorado, Ark.; one brother, Glen Joens of Eagle Butte; three sisters, Eva Womack and Dorothy Brewer, both of Eagle Butte, and Edna Strong of Spearfish; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and 17 stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, four sisters, one grandson and one great-grandson.
Casketbearers will be his nephews, Gene Webb, Melvin Webb, Kenny Jones, Les Joens, Dick Lang and Dale Brewer.

Mildred McNeill
Manhattan Beach, Calif. - The funeral for Mildred McNeill, 88, of Manhattan Beach and formerly of Tulare, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. The Rev. James Waisanen will officiate.
Burial will be in the Garfield Cemetery near Tulare.
Closed-casket visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Redfield.
She died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at her daughter's home in Tarzana, Calif.
Mildred Binger was born Dec. 1, 1912, to Henry and Rosena (Roeber) Binger near Tulare. She attended elementary school near Tulare in Buffalo Township. She attended Tulare High School.
She married Vernon McNeill. They lived on a farm near Tulare for several years before moving to Huron in 1947. They then moved to Manhattan Beach in 1956. He died in 1970 and she continued to live in their home in Manhattan Beach.
She was active in her community.
Survivors include one daughter, Dee Ann Meichelbock of Tarzana; one brother, Fritz Binger of Tulare; three grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and two brothers.
Casketbearers will be David Meichelbock, Mark Meichelbock, Daniel Meichelbock, Gary Shantz, Jerry Binger and Rolla Binger.
The family prefers memorials to the Garfield Cemetery in care of Ted Price, 38449 187 St., Tulare, S.D. 57476.
