Carrie Stradinger
Selby -- The funeral for Carrie 'Babe' Stradinger, 90, of Selby and formerly of Mobridge, will be at 10 a.m. today at the Family Worship Center in Mobridge. The Rev. Lance Yohe and the Rev. Paul Hathaway will officiate.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Mobridge with Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Center in Selby.
Carrie A. Hart was born May 12, 1910, to William and Carrie (Coon) Hart in Gettysburg.
She married Otto Stradinger on Oct. 6, 1928, in Gettysburg. She traveled the Midwest with her husband who was in the construction business. In 1947 the family settled in Mobridge. She lived there until she entered the Good Samaritan Center in Selby in March 2001.
She enjoyed fishing and playing bingo, and she loved animals. She was known for her cooking, especially fried chicken.
Survivors include one son, Donald (Jean) Stradinger of Chaska, Minn.; two daughters, Barbara (Elmer) Allerdings of Selby and Judy (Mike) Christman of Horace, N.D.; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, four brothers and two sisters.
Casketbearers will be Dan Allerdings, Seann Stradinger, Jonathan Stradinger, Brian Beaman, Darrick Allerdings and Karl Rische.

Helen M. Berg
Groton -- Mass of Christian burial for Helen M. Berg, 85, of Groton will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Groton. The Rev. David Janes will officiate.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Groton with Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel in Groton in charge of arrangements.
A wake service will be at 5:30 tonight at the funeral chapel.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel, and for one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
She died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Center in Groton.
Helen M. Marko was born Dec. 3, 1915, to Louis and Agnes (Hopfer) Marko in Webster. She was raised in Webster and later moved to Groton.
She married Elmer Haywood in 1934, and they had two sons. Her husband died in 1939.
She married Charles Berg on June 26, 1952, in Groton. She worked on the farm until she retired in 1970. She then worked in the laundry room at Beverly Healthcare. She became a resident of Beverly Healthcare in January 1999.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Groton.
She was known for her cooking and sewing, and for her willingness to help others.
Survivors include her husband of Groton; one daughter, Sharon (Jerry) Hertaus of Greenfield, Minn.; two sons, Ronald (Rayola) Haywood of Sumner, Wash., and Gene (Maxine) Haywood Sr. of Perry, Ohio; four sisters, Bertha Rudnick of Mound, Minn., Josephine Weist of Chicago, Peg Hanchett of Billings, Mont., and Berniece Quade of Wilmot; one brother, Jack Marko of Pelican Rapids, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, two grandchildren; and 14 brothers and sisters.
Casketbearers will be her grandsons, Michael Hertaus, Dean Haywood, Mark Haywood, Gene L. Haywood Jr., Christopher Haywood and Rick Haywood.
The family prefers memorials to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 107 E. Seventh Ave., Groton, S.D. 57445.

Effie Maus
Britton -- The funeral for Effie Maus, 93, of Britton will be at 2 p.m. today at First Lutheran Church of Britton. The Rev. Carl Hansen will officiate.
Burial will be in the Britton Cemetery. Price Funeral Chapel of Britton is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service today at the church.
She died Friday, April 13, 2001, at her home.
Effie Arneson was born May 5, 1907, to Martin and Anna (Melby) Arneson on the family farm near Havana, N.D. She grew up there and attended school in Havana. After completing her education, she worked for a period of time in the cook car for local threshing crews. She later worked as an aide for Dr. Rice at the hospital in Britton.
She married Gilbert W. Maus on Oct. 5, 1937. They farmed east of Havana for a number of years and later moved into Havana. He died April 20, 1949. She continued to live in Havana until moving to Britton in the late 1970s.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Britton. She had been active in one of the circles and would lend her culinary talents as needed. She cared for many elderly people in need of care.
She enjoyed cooking and baking and was fond of canning. She also liked crocheting and reading.
Survivors include one son, John (Betty Jean) Maus of Fallbrook, Calif.; two daughters, Mary Ann (Gary) Thornberg of Havana and Linda (Wayne) Haaland of Britton; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and five brothers.
Casketbearers will be Curt Braun, Jerry Woytassek, Brian Rostvet, Daric Pfingsten, Chad Haaland and Paul Mussell.

Louis R. Krueger
Groton -- The funeral for Louis R. Krueger, 88, of Groton will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Groton. The Rev. Craig Grams will officiate.
Burial will be at a later date in the UnionCemetery. Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel of Groton is in charge of arrangements.
A prayer service will be at 7 tonight at the funeral chapel.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
He died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at the Beverly Healthcare Center in Groton.
Louis R. Krueger was born Nov. 23, 1912, to August and Anna Krueger at Seaforth, Minn. He attended grade school in Sundown Township in Redwood County, Minn. He moved to South Dakota on Dec. 1, 1941, and worked various jobs.
He married Hattie Mielke of Groton in December 1943 in Aberdeen. In 1947 he started his own business of road maintenance and building in the Brown County area and retired in 1976. He became a resident of the Beverly Healthcare Center in Groton in 1998.
He enjoyed ice fishing and gardening.
Survivors include one brother, Edwin Krueger of Redwood Falls, Minn.; and two sisters, Ida Schwartz of Sleepy Eye, Minn., and Elsie Werner of Wabasso, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three sisters and five brothers.
The family prefers memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church, 308 N. Second, Groton, S.D. 57445.

William Robert 'Bill' Wegehaupt
Aberdeen -- The funeral for William Robert 'Bill' Wegehaupt, 88, of 1701 E. Melgaard Road and formerly of Delmont, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Delmont. The Rev. Richard Weeman will officiate.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Spitzer-Osthus Funeral Home, 320 Sixth Ave. S.E., Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Aberdeen and for two hours prior to the service Tuesday at the church in Delmont.
He died Friday, April 13, 2001, at ManorCare Health Services in Aberdeen.
William Robert Wegehaupt was born July 15, 1912, to Emil and Martha (Geigle) Wegehaupt in Hillside. When he was a young child, the family moved to the Delmont area, where he grew up and attended school.
He married Erna Friederich on Jan. 6, 1936, at Delmont. They farmed near Hillside and later in the Delmont area, retiring in 1977. In 1981, they moved to Delmont. They then moved to Aberdeen in 1997 to be close to family.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aberdeen and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Delmont.
He enjoyed attending all sporting activities of his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife on bus tours throughout the United States and Canada.
Survivors include his wife of Aberdeen; three sons, Jerald (JoAnn) Wegehaupt of Big Fork, Minn., Glenn (Peggy) Wegehaupt of Aberdeen, and Kevin (Tammie) Wegehaupt of Sisseton; one daughter, Wynell Wegehaupt of Weston, Fla.; one sister, Edna Bierwagen of Sioux Falls; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Harley H. Hoffman
Mina -- The funeral for Harley H. Hoffman, 65, of Mina will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1429 N. Dakota St., Aberdeen. The Rev. Roger Noer will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen. Spitzer-Osthus Funeral Home, 320 Sixth Ave. S.E., Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
He died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at the University Medical Center in Tucson, Ariz.
Harley H. Hoffman was born June 8, 1935, to John and Johanna (Zenker) Hoffman in Leola. He attended rural school near Long Lake and graduated from Leola High School in 1953. He then attended Northern State College and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in 1960.
He married Sharlene Koerner on June 8, 1958, at Leola. He graduated from Realtors Institute. He owned and operated H.H. Hoffman Realty in Aberdeen for 30 years. He ranched in McPherson and Edmunds County. He also did site selection for Super 8 Motels and securing financing for the parent Super 8 Motels, Inc. for 2 1/2 years.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was United Way drive chairman, President and Board of Directors of YMCA and President of Northern State College Alumni Association. He was a member of Chamber of Commerce Industrial Development and Agriculture Committee and Aberdeen Elks Club. He was a chartered Life Underwriter of American College of Life Underwriters, named to Who's Who in the Midwest, President and member of Board of Directors for the Aberdeen Board of Realtors, Aberdeen Board Realtor of the year, State of South Dakota Realtor of the year, past state president of South Dakota Board of Realtors, national director and member from South Dakota to National Association of Realtors, Realtors Land Institute, member of Omega Tau Rho Fraternity of National Association of Realtors. He also served on the board of directors for the Salvation Army and he graduated from Dale Carnegie Course.
He enjoyed flying planes, traveling, hunting, RV travel and fishing, especially on the Missouri River.
Survivors include his wife of Mina; four sons, Blake (Marcia) Hoffman of Sioux Falls, Jon (Carla) Hoffman of Aberdeen, Gregory (Leanne) Hoffman of Mina, and Timothy (Lori) Hoffman of Rapid City; one daughter, Monica (Iver) Gibbs of Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, Allen Hoffman of Aberdeen and Charles Hoffman of Leola; three sisters, Gertrude Koenig of Richmond, Calif., Ester Retzer of Aberdeen, and Frances Lacher of Zeeland, N.D.; and seven grand-children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, three brothers and three sisters.
Casketbearers will be Larry Schock, Myron Retzer, Aaron Hoffman, Karley Hoffman, Harley Lacher and Levi Koerner.
