Rozella Boring Law, age 74, of Maryville, passed away September 20th, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. A member of Highland Presbyterian Church. preceded in death by Husband, Charles G. Law, Parents, Willie and Lona Boring. Grandsons, James H. Hannah Jr. Charles Spencer Simcox, Several Brothers and Sisters. Survived by daughters, Pat Hannah, Janice Simcox and Susan Law, all of Maryville. Grandson and wife, Charles Brian and Wana Hannah of Townsend. Brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Iva Lee Boring of Maryville; Sister Charlotte Dostin of Indiana. Special mention Bill Simcox of Louisville and several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral service will be at 7:00 pm Tuesday in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with the Rev. Ann Brunger Officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Highland Presbyterian Building Fund. 721 E. BURNS, ELIZABETH PEARL WATERS, 85, Maryville, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.

Ruth Kidwell Franklin
Ruth Kidwell Franklin, age 94, of Knoxville passed away, Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Brakebill Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by sons, Murray Vineyard, Jr. and Bobby Vineyard.
Survivors: children, daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jack Kennedy; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Karen Vineyard and Tom and Phyllis Kidwell; daughter-in-law, Megan Vineyard; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to extend special thanks for the loving care given at Brakebill Nursing Home.
Service, 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Mynatt Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Mike Vineyard and Rev. Bill Rimmer officiating. Family and friends will meet 2:00 p.m. Sunday at New Gray cemetery for interment service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Mynatt Funeral Home.

BEULAH `KATHERINE' TEFFETELLER ELMORE
Beulah 'Katherine' Teffeteller Elmore, age 63 of Kingston, passed away in the early morning hours of September 16th 2003 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles 'Ray' and Addie 'Juanita' Lee Teffeteller; and by her sister, Norma Ray Phelps. She is survived by her husband of forty-three years, William 'Harold'; and also by their four children, Joyce Denise 'Joy', Michael Dewayne, Charles Ray and Cheryl Kay, all of Kingston. She is also survived by a special aunt, Willodene Hood of Maryville; by longtime friend, Joyce Miller of Rockwood, and by another special friend, Polly Taylor of Oak Ridge. Born in Maryville, Elmore attended schools in Maryville, Oak Ridge and Kingston; she was a member of the 1960 Roane County High School graduating class. She worked for almost 17 years as a certified nurse's aide at Chamberlain Memorial Hospital in Rockwood. She later ran a home daycare service for 17 years, worked in the deli of the Food City in Harriman, and worked for the Michael Dunn Center in the retirement group. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Kingston for 26 years. She served there as Co-Children's Church Director. Funeral 8 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2003 at Kyker Chapel. Burial 12 Noon Saturday at Cedar Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be given to the helping hands ministry of Cedar Grove Baptist Church of Kingston or to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston.

CARLOS CRUZ FLORES
Carlos Cruz Flores, age 77 of Maryville, formerly of Robbinsville, NC, died Sunday, September 14, 2003 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was a member and elder of Highland Presbyterian Church. He was a native of Guam and spent his teenage years under Japanese Occupation during World War II. He was retired as Master Sergent from the U.S.A.F. serving in the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Berea College, Berea, KY, majoring in Business Administration. He was much loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed. He was a man of God and country. preceded in death by: parents, Juan and Nicolasa Flores; sisters, Beatrice and Ana Borja.
Survivors include: wife of 50 years, Evelyn Colvard Flores; son and daughter-in-law, James C. and Patricia Flores of Fullerton, CA; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bobby Maestas of Lake Forest, CA; grandchildren, Crystal and Jason Maestas, Norrell Flores; great-grandchild, Skyler Flores; sisters, Rosalia Imbat, of Agana, Guam, Margarete Castro, Hermenia Hanks, Rosario Hafker and husband John all of CA; brothers, John Flores of Mechanicsville, MD, Joaquin and wife, Mary Flores and David Flores of Agana, Guam, Tony Flores and wife Dortha of Amarillo, TX. Graveside service and interment will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Tennessee Veterans cemetery in Knoxville with Rev. Ann Brunger officiating. JOSEPH `AL' MCDANIEL JR.
Joseph "Al" McDaniel Jr., age 79 of Maryville, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and a graduate of Vanderbilt University. He retired from Exxon Chemical in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after 35 years of service. Al was an active member of Maryville First Baptist Church and a member of the "Good News" Sunday School class. He led a faithful and devoted Christian life as a husband, father and grandfather and will forever be a friend to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Sr. and Lucille McDaniel; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Larry Kutney.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Herriman McDaniel; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Sadie McDaniel of Jacksonville, FL; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Mike Morgan of Maryville, Gail and John Guthrie of Granger, Indiana; grandchildren, Scott and Kristy McDaniel of Franklin, TN, Ginny McDaniel of Nashville, Ann Kutney and Jack Kutney of Philadelphia, PA, Joey Morgan of Nashville, Jimmy Morgan of Knoxville, Richard Morgan of Maryville, Amy and Brett Troxler of Baton Rouge, LA, Johnny Guthrie of Lafayette, IN and Billy Guthrie of Granger, IN; great-grandchild, Mikaela Rose McDaniel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Audrey and Earl Jones and Dorothy and Bob Foster; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Marilyn McDaniel all of Memphis. Funeral service 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2003, Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary with Dr. John Sharp officiating. Family and friends will assemble for entombment at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2003 at Grandview Mausoleum. BIRDIE MAE WAYCASTER
Birdie Mae Waycaster, age 55 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville. She had 29 years of service in the Food Service department at University of Tennessee Medical Center. preceded in death by parents, Ellis and Alice Reed; brothers, Robert and James Reed; and nephew, Benjamin Magnes.
Survivors include husband, Brian Waycaster; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Ruth Reed of Maryville; brother, Richard Reed of Maryville; sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and John Terry of Knoxville; sisters, Edna Sue Reed of Maryville and Sandy Manges of New Orleans, Louisiana; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2003 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Harold Townsend officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Clark's Grove cemetery for the interment service. Family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

HUDSON, JOSEPH, C.
HUDSON, JOSEPH, C., 70, Louisville, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at his home.
Survivors: sisters, Jane A. Hudson of Maryville and Liz Dugas of Ocala, Fla.
He was cremated and his remains were sent to Pennsylvania.

SFC WILLIAM BENNETT
SFC William Bennett, US Army, Special Forces was killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom Friday, September 12, 2003, near the town of Ar-Ramadi, Iraq. Bill was born March 18, 1968, and was a 1986 graduate of Heritage High School. He was a member of Oak View Baptist Church in Walland. Upon graduation he entered into the Army where his service included work as an Army Engineer, Service as an Army Diver in Panama during Operation Just Cause, and in Iraq and Kuwait during operation Desert Storm. He volunteered for Special Forces training in 1992 and served with the 5th Special Forces Group, Ft. Campbell, KY, where he participated in numerous overseas deployments including combat operations in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraq. His commendations and awards include the Bronze Star Metal with Valor, the Army Commendation Metal and many other Ribbons and Professional Service Achievement Awards.
Bill is survived by his wife, Allison, and son, Seth; his uncle and aunt, Michael and Karolyn Wood; cousin Matthew Wood; his mother and stepfather, Kathleen and Leonard Bennett; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends worldwide.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2003, from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Smith Mortuary. The funeral will be Saturday, September 20, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Oak View Baptist Church in Walland with Rev. Glenn Gamble officiating. Interment will follow in Oak View Baptist Church Cemetery. VIRGINIA S. JEFFRIES
Virginia S. Jeffries, 61, Tallahassee, FL, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003, in Tallahassee, FL. She was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist Faith.
She is survived by husband of 28 years, Jack Y. Jeffries of Tallahassee; four sons, Tim Jeffries (and wife, Larissa) of Tallahassee and Steve Vaughn (and wife Sherry) of Tampa; two daughters, Michelle Keene (and husband Bill) of Knoxville and Regina Hagin (and husband Kirk) of Snead; her mother, Reba Hankins of Lutz, FL; a brother, Carl Hankins (and wife Pansy) of Land O'Lakes, FL; two sisters, Betty Blankenbeckler (and husband Jimmy) of Knoxville and Cindy Weery (and husband Bobby) of Land O'Lakes, FL; and ten grandchildren.
The service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home Timberline Road Chapel, Tallahassee, FL, with burial at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park, Tallahassee, FL. Family will receive friends 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2003, at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Timberlane Road Chapel, Tallahassee.

CLAUDE FIRMIN MOON
Claude Firmin Moon, born May 4, 1915, in Sardenia, Ohio, died September 16, 2003, at Blount Memorial Hospital.
Preceded in death by parents, Mr. And Mrs. F.H. (Emma Davidson) Moon; sisters, Mrs. Dean Miller, Mrs. Margie Webb, Mrs. Kathryn Fotiou; and brother, Mr. Harold Moon.
Survivors include wife, Ruby Moon; daughter, Claudetta M. Hawie; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerome and Debbie Moon, Mark and Nancy Moon, Richard and Irene Moon; grandson, Kelly Moon; granddaughters, Amy M. Dunaway (Mrs. Seth) and Sarah Lee Moon; great-grandson, Gant Lee Dunaway; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning, September 18, 2003, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the graveside service and interment, Rev. Carl White officiating. EDNA REBECCA TARWATER
Edna Rebecca Tarwater, 93, of the Waldens Creek community in Sevierville passed away Monday, September 15, 2003, at Sevier County Health Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Horace S. Tarwater; her parents, John Wesley and Mary Franklin Clabough; 5 brothers; 2 sisters; grandchildren, Ronny Joe Tarbett, Robert A. Tarwater Jr.; sons-in-law, Olin Fox, Loren Strange; daughter-in-law, Joyce Tarwater.
Edna leaves behind to celebrate her life, her children, Helen Fox, Mary Lynn Strange, Robert A. Tarwater; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and her sister, Georgia Piercy.
Service will be 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. Barbara Lay officiating. Interment will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18 at the Mount Lebanon Church cemetery in Blount County. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Rawlings Funeral Home.
