Mila V. Rowe, age 21 of Maryville, died Saturday, July 26, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a E4 Medical Supply Specialist, U.S. Army National Guard (Knoxville) and was employed as a landscaper with Out Of Eden Garden Center of Maryville.
Preceded in death by grandmother, Tommie J. Brown.
Survivors include mother, Kelly Bowling of Maryville; father, Lindsey Fonseth of Greensburg, IN; sister and brother-in-law, T.J. and Roger Gregory of Maryville; nephew, Miles Gregory; aunt and uncle; Kim and Miles Brown of Rushville, IN; cousin, Sara Brown of Rushville, IN;
Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at Grandview with a Military Chaplain officiating. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 from 6:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. at Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.

Carl E. Thomas
Carl E. Thomas, age 65, of Wildwood, died Sunday, July 27, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a Corporal. He was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas; and brother, George Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Dortha Thomas; stepdaughters, Nola Attak of Knoxville and Kristi Davis; mother, Ollie Thomas; brother, Fate Thomas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde and Naomi Thomas, all of Maryville; William and Dorothy Thomas of Knoxville, Fred and Joyce Thomas of Rockford; Willie and Dorothy Thomas of Maryville; sister, Virginia Trydell of Maryville; sister and brother-in-law, Trula and Doug Midkiff of Laurel, MD; nieces and nephews, Scott, Doug, Ponitha, Melody, Steven, Cindy, Kim, C.H., Sharon, Terry, Tim, Randy, Junior, Johnny, Lynn, Gwynn, Tammy, Vanessa, Sammy, and Jimmy.
Funeral service will be 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003 in the Dotson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Atchley officiating. Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Dotson Funeral Home, 4838 Wildwood Road, Wildwood. (865-984-5959)

TIMOTHY I. ALKIRE
Timothy I. Alkire, age 58, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2003.
He was preceded in death by his father, David I. of Leesburg, Florida and nephew, Matthew of Falls Church, Virginia.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jan; mother, Ruth U. Alkire of Maryville; brother, David F. Alkire of Falls Church, Virginia and sister, Lorraine R. Alkire of Los Angeles, California.
Tim was a civil engineering graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1968 and a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania, Indiana and Tennessee. Tim was retired from Alcoa, Inc. after 28 years in the construction organization. His career included Alcoa locations in Pittsburgh, Pa., Swansea, Wales, Point Comfort, Texas and Evansville, Ind. After retirement, Tim was a contractor for Fluor-Daniel at the Alcoa, Tenn. Primary Metals Division for 7 years.
A memorial service will be held on July 31, 2003 at 1:00 PM in the Alkire family home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society. Cremation arrangements by Smith Mortuary, Maryville.

THOMAS A. FINCH JR.
Thomas A. Finch Jr., age 75, of Maryville passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003 at U.T. Hospital. He was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church. He was a retired Pharmacist with Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Jane Finch; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Bob Barnhart, of Johnson City, Susan and Jeff Gamble, of Knoxville; grandchildren, Sam and Andy Barnhart; sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Art Schmeltekopf, of Marshall, N.C.; nephew and wife, Rick and J.C. Schmeltekopf, of Johnstown, Co.; numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Monday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alan Taylor officiating. A private interment will be held in Grandview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville 982-6812

PITTS, JUANITA C. JACKSON, 76, Walland, died Thursday, July 24, at Asbury Acres Healthcare Center. She was retired from Kimberly-Clarke.
Survivors include her son, Clarence C. Pitts Jr., of Memphis, Johnny Pitts of Walland, Joe Pitts of Memphis; daughters, Sandra Gail Pitts of Maryville and Ruth Walden of Memphis; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Memory Hills Gardens in Memphis.

TIMOTHY I. ALKIRE
Timothy I. Alkire, age 58, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2003.
He was preceded in death by his father, David I. of Leesburg, Florida and nephew, Matthew of Falls Church, Virginia.

LINDA GAIL DUFFIELD MATTHEWS
Linda Gail Duffield Matthews, age 57, of Rockford, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2003 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Alcoa Way Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Pace.
Survivors: husband, Blaine Matthews; daughter and son-in-law, Missy and Kenny Ivens of Maryville; daughter, Tasha Matthews of Rockford; son, Brandon Matthews of Knoxville; granddaughter, Lacey Matthews; sisters, Sheena Lyons of Knoxville and Becky Moffett of Maryville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Rex Harrison of Atlanta, Georgia, Diana and Chris Price of Moscow, Tenn.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carroll and Mary Matthews, Wendell and Lois Matthews, Malcom and Carolyn Matthews; sisters-in-law, Brenda Matthews and Jean Matthews all of Sevierville; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2003 at Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary. Funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. The family and friends will assemble at 10 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2003 at Grandview cemetery for the interment. Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.

JACK DEAN RIDINGS SR.
Jack Dean Ridings Sr., age 81 of Friendsville, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Friday morning, July 25, 2003 at the Colonial Hills Nursing Home in Maryville. Jack was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He was retired from Alcoa after 33 years service. He was a member of the 25 year club. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during W.W.II. preceded in death by wife, Evelyn Glandon Ridings; parents, Hal and Fannie Foster; and brother, R.J. Ridings.
Survived by daughter, Loretta Sparks and husband, Clell; sons, Dean Ridings and wife Shirley all of Friendsville, Charles Ridings and wife, Bobbie Jo of Maryville; grandchildren, Shawn Ridings and wife, Megan, Ursula McCall and husband, Chris, Mandy Cannon and husband, Allen, Tracy Bush and husband, Kelvin, Travis Sparks and wife, Heather, and Chuck Ridings; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard Foster of Birmingham, Ala., Lee Foster of Dandridge and Tom Foster of Knoxville; aunt, Eva Glandon of Alcoa; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Saturday at the Hawkins Chapel with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. R.M. Everett officiating. Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Pine Grove cemetery for graveside services with full military honors conferred by VFW Post 5150 and American Legion Post 120 and 70. Hawkins Chapel, 102 B Street, Lenoir City is serving the family of Jack Ridings.

BRENDA KAY DAILEY BORING
Brenda Kay Dailey Boring, age 51 of Maryville passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 22, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Kindergarten teacher in the Blount Co. School System for 28 years.
Preceded in death by father, Dee Dailey; brother, Claude Dailey; sisters, Fay Davis, Dora Gilbert.
SURVIVORS: daughters, Amanda D. Boring, Amber R. Boring both of Maryville; step-daughter, Debbie Chester of Maryville; step-grandchildren, J. J. Chester, Tiffany Chester; mother, Theda Broome Dailey of Maryville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard and Ruth Dailey of Maryville, Freddie and Janis Dailey of Maryville, Allen and Karen Dailey of Maryville; sister, Donna Dailey West of Maryville; brothers-in-law, John Davis of Lenoir City, Jimmy Gilbert of Ga.; several cousins; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Tom Wiggins of S.C.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2003 Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Tim Martin officiating. Interment 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Union Grove Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

JOHN N. `DUDE' COOPER
John N. "Dude" Cooper, age 83 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was owner and operator of Dude's Grocery in the Six Mile Community for 28 years and preceded in death by parents, Gaith and Margaret Cooper; son, Gary Cooper; brothers, Oscar K. Cooper, Gordon D. Cooper, Edward L. Cooper and Gaith Cooper Jr.; and sister, Hilda Faye Cooper.
Survivors include wife, Lexie Holder Cooper; granddaughter, Cara Cooper of Maryville; great-grandson, Lucas Cooper Roberts; brother, C.S. Cooper of Louisiana, Harold "Bud" Cooper and Stanley "Dee" Cooper both of Maryville; special friends, Bill Cable and Allen Cooper both of Maryville; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003 at Peck's Memorial cemetery for graveside service and interment, Rev. Carl White officiating. Friends may call at their convenience anytime after 11:00 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

LUCILLE WATERS CRABTREE
Lucille Waters Crabtree, born May 15, 1922 (age 81) of Maryville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 23, 2003 at the family home after a lengthy illness. She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church and preceded in death by parents, Ben H. and Cora Jane Waters; sister, Elaine Blair; brother, James A. (Buck) Waters; brothers-in-law, Robert Wear, Jack Campbell and Herbert Williams.
Survivors include husband of 59 years, J.D. Crabtree; daughters, Judith C. and husband, Charles Dockery and Teresa Karen Crabtree all of Maryville; grandsons, Phillip A. Renfro of Maryville and John E. Renfro of Atlanta, Georgia; brother, Alden H. Waters and spouse, Evelyn of Carson, California; sisters, Margaret Wear, Wilma Campbell, Mary Lee Williams all of Maryville; sister-in-law, Gladys Waters of Maryville; several nieces, nephews and special friends, Fredia Mae Evans and Wayne and Martha Lowe all of Maryville. She will be sadly missed, but not forgotten by family and friends.
Funeral service 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Carl White and Rev. Raymond Clore officiating. Interment to follow at Clark's Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
