Frank Aloysius Azzarello age 79 of Friendsville died Friday, March 21, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and was a Veteran of the Army Air Corp during World War II, and the Navy Reserves.
Preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas Azzarello and Yolanda Castrogiovanni; infant son, John Frank Azzarello; sisters, Betty Ferrari, Eleanor Azzarello, and brother, Albert Azzarello.
Survivors include: Wife, Delia Azzarello; Daughters, Jeanne T. Azzarello and Marie Yolanda Azzarello DeCaire; Brothers, John Azzarello, Cosmo Azzarello; Brother-in-law, John Ferrari; Mother of his children, Marie T. Azzarello; several nieces and nephews; Sister and Brothers of Delia, Marcelia Hines, Clarence, Altyn and John Paul Stevens; Children of Delia, Eleanor Seferovich, Jonathan Strock, and Joseph Strock Jr.; and many other family members.
Funeral Mass will be at 7:00 PM Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Alex Waraska officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 AM Sunday, March 23, 2003 at Grandview cemetery for the interment. Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000

SHADE SAMUEL BOLING JR.
Shade Samuel Boling Jr., 46 of Rockford passed away peacefully on March 20, 2003 at 5:05 p.m. at U.T. Hospital. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents: Clifford and Ida Harmon and W.H. and Odie Boling, Uncles: Lawrence and Bill Harmon, Tommy Boling, Aunt: Edith Raymer.
He is survived by his Daughter and Son-in-law: Samantha and Jeromy Smith, Daughters: Cassie Boling and Stacy Rimmer. Mother and Father: Shirley and Sam Boling, Brothers and Sister-in-law: Clifford and Janie Boling, Clint and Laurie Boling, Brother: Steve Boling, Sister and Brother-in-law: Teresa and Tim Murr, Grandchild: Cade Rimmer, Nieces and Nephews: Eric, Ross, Keith, Aaron, Adam, Alex, Sam, Josh, Beth, and Mason.
Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday March 23, 2003 at Rockford Baptist Church with Rev. Russ Maples officiating. Friends may call at their convenience at the home of Shirley and Sam Boling. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home in Maryville.

RIDEN, MINNIE CAROLINE HEADRICK
Minnie Caroline Riden, age 95 born November 19, 1907 and died March 21, 2003 at her family home. She was the daughter of R.M. Headrick and Mary Cotter Headrick. She was a Charter Member of Grandview Baptist Church and a member of the Prudence Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Preceded in death by: Husband, Sherman S. Riden; Son, John S. Riden; Sister, Bessie McNabb; Great-grandson, Shawn Brown; Sons-in-law, Carl N. Hembree and Bee A. Brown.
Survivors include: Daughters, Mary Ann Brown, Gloria F. Hembree; Grandchildren, Don Brown, Carla Hembree, Randy Brown, Tim Hembree, Amy Davis; Great-Grandchildren, Travis Brown, Joseph Davis, Johnathon Davis, Rachael Brown, Taylor Brown, Jennifer Hembree; Sister, Alice Headrick; Daughter-in-law, Doris Riden.
Funeral service will be at 8:00 PM, Saturday, March 22, 2003 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Rodney Hardin and Rev. Greg Long officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 23, 2003 at Grandview cemetery for the interment. Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Saturday, March 22, 2003, Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.

WALKER KARIN SCHERB
Walker Karin Scherb age 64 of Maryville passed away Friday, March 21, 2003 at the family home. preceded in death by husband, Homer H. Walker.
Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Margaret Y. and David Henry of Maryville; Son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kristi Walker of Maryville; Grandchildren, Austin Henry, Emily and Noah Walker; Sisters and brothers-in-law, Inge and Karle Zellner of West Germany, Brigette Bulley of VA, Renate and Peter Turnowski of West Germany, Roswetta Klimick of West Germany; Brothers and sisters-in-law, Manfred and Anita Scherb of West Germany, Fritz and Dorlee Scherb of West Germany and Klause Klimick of W. Germany; Several nieces and nephews; Special friends Joyce Carpenter, Janie Fields, Charlene Myers, Karin Fuller, Sara Henry, Molly Jones, Phyllis Baldwin and Gail Abbott.
Funeral service 8:00pm Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Miller Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Tom Hatley officiating. Interment service 4:00pm Sunday at Grandview Cemetery. Special thanks to Blount Home Health Service and Hospice, Suzette and Shane Loser and Vicki Irwin. Military honors will be done by Volunteer State Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

COLUMBUS P. YATES
Columbus P. Yates age 85 of Friendsville formerly of Greenback left to be with his heavenly father and family Thursday morning March 20, 2003 at the family home. He was of the Baptist faith. He lived and worked various farms in Greenback for over 45 years. He loved to work the land and had an amazing God given talent to care for cattle.
Preceded in death by wife, Cordelia Coleman Yates, parents, John and Elsie Yates, sister, Mamie Queen, brothers, Otto, Gridley, and Charlie Yates.
Survivors: Daughters Kathy Cook and husband Gary of Friendsville, Mary Sue Van Fossan and husband Bill of Dandridge. Grandchildren, Brandon, Jeremy, and Matthew Cook, Amber Thomas, and Katie Van Fossan. Great Grandson, Mason Chapman. Brother, Rastus Yates of Greenback.
Funeral service 8 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Miller Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Owen Evans officiating. Interment service 2 p.m. Sunday at Union Grove Baptist Cemetery. If anyone wishes, the family will be receiving visitors at the home of the deceased 724 Dunlap Hollow Road in Friendsville. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

JOHN B. DUNN
John B. Dunn of Maryville died March 11, 2003. He was born January 15, 1944. He was 59. He was preceded in death by his parents, Berger and Irene Sims Dunn; brother, Wendell Eugene Dunn, Jimmy Sims, and Leon Sims.
He is survived by his daughter, Serna Dunn of South Bend, Indiana; brothers and sisters-in-law, Oscar and Shirley Dunn of Maryville, Ray and Jan Dunn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Millie and Bob Theodorou, Earline and Terry Hill, Dorothy Pore all of Lansing, MI; four grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Jeanne Dunn; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday March 22, 2003 at Memorial Funeral Home in Maryville. Interment will follow at Piney Level cemetery with Rev. Chris Worley officiating.

DORA L. GASTON
Dora L. Gaston, age 89 of Maryville died Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Fairpark Healthcare Center. preceded in death by: husband James V. "Red" Gaston; daughter and son-in-law, Maxine and Carroll Ault.
Survivors include: special friends, Marilyn Clark, Wanda McBrayer, and Carolyn Phillips.
Family and friends will assemble for a graveside service and interment at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ray Couey officiating. Friends may call at their convenience after 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 21, 2003 at Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.

MATTHEW J. HAWKER
Matthew J. Hawker, age 24 of Maryville died Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Survivors include: mother and step-father, Bernadette and William Brannock of Maryville; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Linda Allison of Lake City; sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Walter Kopka of Naples, FL; aunt and uncle, Virginia and Gary Porter of Cartersville, GA.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2003 at Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.

VERA MERRELL LAWRENCE
Vera Merrell Lawrence, age 89 of Louisville, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was born in Doniphan, MO on the 15th of February 1914 and was the sixth of nine children all of whom have predeceased her. The Merrell family moved to Ohio but returned home when the Depression occurred. Vera elected to stay in Ohio, using her older sister's identification to secure employment. Vera married William Lawrence during World War II while he was serving with the U.S. Army. At the end of the war they departed for Venezuela for a government project. Their only child, Stephanie was born there in 1947. The family returned to the United States in 1950. Bill Lawrence died suddenly in 1955 while returning home to Michigan from New York. Vera and seven-year-old Stephanie moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL where she lived for the next 43 years. During that time she was an active member of the Hospital Auxiliary. In 1972 Stephanie's husband left and Vera took her daughter and 2 children and brought them into her home and for the next 22 years they lived together. She helped in the raising of her 2 grandchildren and was always there for them. Vera moved to Tennessee in 1998 to join her daughter Stephanie and son-in-law Jack Bell in their home. In her four-year residency, Vera made many wonderful friends at New Providence Church where she loved to work in the Community Benefit Sale. Vera leaves behind, her daughter, Stephanie Bell, son-in-law, Jack Bell; grandchildren, Melani and Adam Lawrence. There are many nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly.
Vera succumbed at Blount Memorial Hospital after thirty days. The family wishes to thank Dr. Wally Werner and the entire nursing staff at Blount Memorial Hospital for their loving and diligent care.
Memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, may be made to: New Providence Presbyterian Church, 703 W. Broadway, Maryville, TN 37801. Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.

BRADLEY STUART YATES
Bradley Stuart Yates, age 28 of Maryville passed away Wednesday morning, March 19, 2003. Employed by Franklin Concrete for the last 9 years. preceded in death by father, Gridley Yates Jr.; grandparents, Gridley Yates Sr., Otha J. Everett; uncle; J.W. Everett.
Survivors: mother and stepfather, Barbara E. and Howard W. Franklin of Maryville; sister and brother-in-law, Brandi and Tony Bishop of Maryville; brother, Dustin W. Franklin of Maryville; sister, Katrina Payne of Maryville; grandmothers, Mary E. Everett, Gena Yates both of Maryville; nephews, Jaden Bishop, Dakota Payne; nieces, Shawna Bishop, Kierra Bishop; uncles and aunts, Charlie and Donna Everett of Illinois, Bill and Sharlett Everett of Texas, James and Betty Franklin of Maryville, Dorothy Everett of Maryville, Harold and Brenda Yates, Robert and Lorene Crye, Horton and Wanda Dailey all of Maryville; many cousins and friends; special friends, Randy Garrett, Kristi Keller, Andy Fields, Melvin Fields, Gerald Lee; special cousin and friend, Avery Franklin. He was dearly loved by all.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2003 Miller Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Dale Buchanan, Rev. Ricky Sweet officiating. Interment 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at Holston College Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

COLUMBUS P. YATES

Gertie Cabe Bradley, age 70 of Maryville passed away Tuesday morning, March 18, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. preceded in death by parents, Millard and Margaret Medlin Cabe.
Survivors: sons, Wayne Bradley of Greenback, Allen Bradley of Maryville; daughters, Gail Standridge of Jonesboro, Ga., Donna Poe of Sweetwater, Judy McDaniel of Greenback; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren; brothers, Floyd Cabe, John Walter Cabe, Rev. M.D. Cabe, Robert L. Cabe, James Gary Cabe all of Georgia, James Otis Cabe of Virginia; sisters, Edith Hackeny, Nell Goins both of Maryville; several nieces and nephews; special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mamie Sue and Burl Best of Maryville.
Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003 Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. M.D. Cabe officiating. Family and friends will meet at Morganton Cemetery, Greenback at 11:00 a.m. Friday morning for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
