Member of Eleazar United Methodist Church, former member of Akron Baptist Church, Akron, Ohio for many years. Retired from Summitt County Board of Elections, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Attended several National Republican Conventions.
Survivors: sister, Juanita L. Gardner, Maryville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elmer and Ann Lee, Belleville, Mich, Joe B. Lee, Madisonville, Evelyn Bulgrin, Stow, Ohio; nieces and spouses, Virginia and Bob Burke, Onecia and Michael George, Robin and Barry Hewitt, Martha and Scott Snow, Gwendolyn and Dwayne Lovejoy; nephew and spouse, Nigel and Ann Lee; dear family friend, Wilford Haun, Maryville.
Preceded in death by spouses, Arthur F.C. Bulgrin and Ernest Cunningham; parents, John H. and Martha Richeson Lee; sister, Irene Lee; brothers, Marvin and Vester Lee.
Funeral 10 a.m. Saturday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. Nick Wright and Rev. Billy Carrigan officiating. Interment Eleazar Cemetery. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.

BARBARA JANE BELL HEADRICK
Barbara Jane Bell Headrick, 66, formerly of Maryville, TN, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004 in Stockton, CA. She was preceded in death by father, H.C. Bell Sr. and mother, Katherine L. Bell Hughes; brother, Lowell E. Bell.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandy Headrick and Felicia Hobbs; grandson, Tyler Hobbs; ex-husband, Bill Headrick, also of California; brothers, Douglas and Howard Bell, Maryville, TN.

ANNIE LOIS MURPHY
Annie Lois Murphy, age 90 of Maryville died Thursday, August 19, 2004 at home. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. preceded in death by: husband, Gerald Murphy. Survivors include: sister-in-law, Wilda Dunn of West Virginia; several nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2004, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Alex Waraksa officiating. Entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. ALFRED PHILIP `PHIL' BOWERS
Alfred Philip (Phil) Bowers 56 of Maryville died Monday, August 23, 2004 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents: Joshua Leonard and Hellen Keller Bowers; sister: Orbin Davis. He is survived by his children: Michele and Kenneth Stumph, Philip Bowers Jr.; special friend: Gail Bowers; three grandchildren all of Louisville, KY; brothers and sisters-in-law: Donald and Marjorie Bowers, Jim and Rose Bowers; sisters and brothers-in-law: Patsy and Oscar Cuneo, Dale Bowers and Maryann Whitehead, Peggy Bowers and James Jenkins all of Maryville. Family and friends will meet at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at Maryville Baptist Tabernacle cemetery for a graveside funeral service with Rev. Milford Byrd officiating. Memorial Funeral Home in Maryville is in charge of Arrangements.

JACK DODSON
Jack Dodson, age 86 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2004, at Fairpark Health Care Center. He was a member of Everett Hills Baptist Church, was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, was retired from ALCOA and a member of the 25 Year Service Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lizzie Dodson of Riceville, TN.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Hutsell Dodson; daughter, Brenda Dodson; brother, Edward Dodson of Etowah; sister, Ruby Dodson of Athens.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Raines and Dr. John Franklin officiating. The interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.

MORGAN P. HUGHES
Morgan P. Hughes, age 75 of Louisville, passed away Monday, August 23, 2004 at his home. He was a member of Vonore Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, William R. and Jesse Hughes; and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Esta Inez Hughes; son, Larry Hughes of Louisville; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Wayne Parris of Sweetwater; 3 grandsons, Phillip W. Parris, Scott P. Hughes and Christopher J. Hughes; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Lucille Hughes of Vonore; several nieces and nephews. Beloved by a host of family and friends. Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, August 26, 2004 in the Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 27, 2004 at Grandview cemetery for the interment. REV. EZRA L. NELSON
Rev. Ezra L. Nelson, age 89 of Maryville passed away Tuesday morning August 24, 2004. Charter member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Rev. Nelson pastored several churches during his ministry. Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II. He was retired from Alcoa and a member of the 25 year club. He was also a farmer. preceded in death by his wife: Eula Marie Jenkins Nelson; children: Shirley, Gladys, Cledia; parents: Mead and Della Wilson Nelson; siblings: Ed, James, Effie, Theodore, Estle, Gladys, Martin, Charlie, and Pearl.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and JoAnne Nelson; daughter and son-in-law, Ruby and Wilburn Gay; grandchildren: Terry and wife Wilma, Ricky and wife Sammie, Darrell and wife Kim; great-grandchildren: Stephanie, Alex, Evan; brothers: Gleason and O.D. Nelson all of Maryville; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2004 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Rev. Terry Nelson, Rev. Glenn Riddle, and Rev. Scott White officiating. Interment to follow at the Nelson family cemetery, with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Magnolia Chapel of Miller Funeral Home Maryville.

DR. HELEN B. WATSON
Dr. Helen B. Watson, age 89, died August 23, 2004 at Asbury Place, Maryville. She was a native of Knoxville and a member of Magnolia Avenue United Methodist Church. Dr. Watson was a graduate of Knoxville High School, the University of Tennessee where she received a B.S. in Physical Education, Teacher's College, and Columbia University with an M.S. in Education and the University of Michigan where she earned the Ph.D. in Education. She began her teaching career at Perkins Elementary School in Knoxville. Her next position was at the University of Tennessee Junior College, Martin; She began her long career at her Alma Mater, UTK, in 1942. Helen Watson served UTK in several capacities. She began as an instructor in Physical Education, rose to the rank of Professor and then became an Administrator. In the latter capacity, she was chairperson of Women's Physical Education, acting Chairperson of the Men's and Women's departments the first year Physical Education became a single department. From there, she was promoted to Associate Dean for graduate studies in the College of Education. She was serving in the Associate Dean's position when she retired in 1980. Helen was a member of several professional organizations and served as president of two of them; the Tennessee Association of Physical Education and the Southern Association of Physical Education of College Women. Her most Significant honorary memberships were; Mortar Board, Pi Lambda Theta, and Phi Kappa Phi. Her most cherished membership was her Social Sorority, Alpha Delta Pi. She was initiated during her undergraduate days at UTK and remained an active Alumni until she was no longer able to participate. She was an avid supporter of the Vol football team and the Lady Vol basketball program. She was proud of the fact that she hired both Joan Cronan and then Pat Head. The letter, offering Pat the position, has been on display at the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Watson. She was predeceased also by her sisters and their husbands, Mildred Watson Childress and Ernest, Doris Watson Phelps and David; brother, Paul Watson and wife Marian, She is survived by Nancy E. Lay; niece, Nancy Phelps Tillman and husband Jim, of Charlotte, NC, and their children, Chris and David; nephew, Don Watson and daughter Rachael of Knoxville and extended family, Doris Driver, Grace Chapin.. The family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Thursday at Highland Memorial cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside and interment service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Dr. Helen B. Watson Women's Basketball Endowment, Women's Intercollegiate Athletics, 207 Thompson-Boling Arena, 1600 Stadium Drive, Knoxville, 37996-3110. Friends may call at their convenience at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.

BONNIE JO CAUGHRON
Bonnie Jo Caughron, age 68, of Madisonville, formerly of Rockford, passed away Monday, August 23, 2004, at Sweetwater Hospital. She was a member of Rockford Baptist Church and preceded in death by parents, Bruce and Addie Caughron and 5 brothers and 7 sisters. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at Miller Funeral Home Cedar Chapel. Interment 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Clark's Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

BEULAH COLVIN GILES
Beulah Colvin Giles, age 75, of Niles Ferry Road, Madisonville, passed away 5:40 a.m. Sunday, August 22, 2004, at Baptist Hospital of East TN. Member of Millers Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors: husband, Glen Giles; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Dale Keller, Salt Lake City, Utah; sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry Colvin, Gregory and Debbie Colvin, all of Tellico Plains; step-sons, Joe Giles, Nashville, Jeff Giles, Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Lacey Renee Colvin, Lindsey Tennelle Colvin, Joshua Scott Colvin, all of Tellico Plains, Corey Keller and wife Marinda, Salt Lake City, Utah, Pamela Colvin, Oak Ridge, Angie Smith, Knoxville, Katie Nicole Colvin, Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Robin, Mark and Matthew Smith, Knoxville; step-grandson: Justin Giles, Chicago, IL; sisters, Bonnie Gourley, Maryville, Bessie Freeman, Chattanooga; brothers, Frank Belcher, Maryland, Herbert Belcher, Tellico Plains, Wilson Belcher, Ervin Barney Belcher, Pensacola, FL; several nieces and nephews.

STANLEY D. ISBILL
Stanley D. Isbill, age 100 of Maryville, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2004, at Maryville Health Care Center. He was a deacon and former treasurer of East Maryville Baptist Church. He retired from Alcoa and was a member of the 25-Year Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lula Isbill; first wife, Lora Wear Isbill; second wife, Wanett Bowman Isbill; sister, Sudie Tilly; great-great-grandson, Justin Lee Anderson and stepson, Richard Finger. Minnie Willocks Shields, age 86 of Maryville, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2004, at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. preceded in death by parents, Arthur "Doc" and Bertha Crisp Willocks; husband, Opha Shields; children, Margie and Terry Shields and Barbara Campbell. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Sue Underwood of Maryville, Nellie and Kenneth Levens of Ohatchee, Alabama, Shelia and Lee Tolson of Decatur, Ill., Linda and William Dorn of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, Fredrick and Nancy Shields of Friendsville; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give special thanks to the employees and staff at Colonial Hills Nursing Home for the care and kindness they have shown. Elmer H. Sullivan, age 76 of Maryville, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Nora Sullivan; son, Ron Sullivan of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Tonya Sullivan of Maryville; grandsons, Joshua, Zachary and Seth Sullivan; brother, Bobby Sullivan of Maryville. Funeral service 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2004, Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary with Pastor Thomas R. Hatley officiating. Mildred Louella Flynn Gossett
GOSSETT, MILDRED LOUELLA FLYNN, 84, Sevierville, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center. She retired from Knoxville Glove Co.
She is survived by daughter, Lois Byrge of Lafollette; son, Roy Gossett of Sevierville; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lucy Hurst; brother, Bearl Flynn.
Funeral service will be 8 tonight in the Dotson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dupont Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at Dotson Funeral Home.

ROBERT LYNN BAILEY
Robert Lynn Bailey, age 48, of Norfolk, Virginia, died Saturday, August 21, 2004, at the Veterans Hospital in Hampton, Virginia. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his parents, Billie and Loretta Bailey Sr. of Maryville; brother, Billie Ray Bailey Jr. of Townsend; sisters, Deborah E. Santos and Dana Cragin, both of Maryville; special friend, Roberta Tass of Norfolk, Virginia. There are no services scheduled at this time. Arrangements by Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 983-1000.
