ARLENA “LENA” MOORE Arlena “Lena” Moore, age 79, 121 Danner Road, Elizabethton, formerly of 115 Lincoln Drive, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. She was a native of Dickson Co., VA, and the daughter of the late Pink Edward and Stella Maude Matherly McKinney. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde “Cobb” William Moore, infant sisters, Mary McKinney, Dorothy Louise McKinney, two sisters, Audrey Duty and Anna Ruth Nelson and one brother, Ollie McKInney. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Karen Moore, Elizabethton, Richard Moore and very special daughter-in-law, Tammy Moore, Elizabethton, one sister, Mildred Campbell, Elizabethton, two brothers, Bill McKinney, Elizabethton, Charles McKinney, Daytona Beach, FL, brother-in-law, Joe Nelson, Elizabethton, two granddaughters, Christy and spouse, Adam Griffey, Elizabethton, Dora “Beth” Moore, Costa Rica, two great grandchildren, Malana Griffey and McKinley Griffey, both of Elizabethton, nieces and nephews, Joan Klove, Joann Vaussas, Margo Nelson, Sandra Hyder, Carol Bowers, D.M. Duty, Scott Campbell, Linda Hardin, Michael Joe Nelson and Betty Ann Malone, special friends, Phyllis Oliver, Sharon and Maynard Peters and former daughter-in-law, Peggy Moore. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 27, at Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel with Rev. Stephen Harris officiating. CHARLOTTE SUE DAVIS Charlotte Sue Davis, 46, 61 Charleston Square, Johnson City, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at their residence, following an extended illness. A native of Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Hoover and Margaret Wishon Bowman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Cathy Bowman. Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include her husband, Leon “Cotton” Davis, of the home; two daughters and one son-in-law: Tracy Savage, Elizabethton and Melinda and Cody Ellison, of the home; four sisters: Patsy Gortney and Debra Blackwell, both of Johnson City, Linda Bowman, Elizabethton and Judy Bowman, Lebanon, VA; five brothers: Larry Bowman, Jackie Bowman, Herbert Hoover “Chubby” Bowman and Billy Joe Bowman, all of Johnson City and Jerry Bowman, Watauga; three grandchildren: Jimmy Hathaway, Elizabethton, Ethan Savage and Haley Sue Ellison, both of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 PM, Monday, June 28th in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Ranshaw and Rev. Harold McNabb officiating. Music will be under the direction of Judy Byrd and Rev. Harold McNabb. Allen Ray Morris, Sr., age 65, 103 Franklin Place No. 3, Elizabethton, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 4, 2004 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Frankie & Ruth Bullock Morris. Mr. Morris was of the Christian faith and retired as a Supervisor at the Tennessee Vocational Training Center. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Miller & Margie Lewis; one brother, Daniel Morris & several half brothers & half sisters. LOTTIE MAE FLETCHER Lottie Mae Fletcher, age 86, formerly of 4871 Sink Valley Road, Butler, died Friday, December 5, 2003 at Pine Ridge Care Center, Elizabethton following an extended illness. A native of Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Lillie Ward Rainbolt. She was a member of Little Doe Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey R. Fletcher, April 22, 1974, five brothers and two sisters. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and David Silvers, Huntsville, AL, two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Pansy Fletcher, Carroll and Sue Fletcher, all of Butler, one brother, McKinley Rainbolt, Hampton, one sister, Betty June Stout, Morristown, TN, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. Grant Parlier, Jr., age 64, 117 Commodore Avenue, Elizabethton, died Friday, December 5, 2003 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Grant & Hazel Guy Parlier, Sr. Mr. Parlier was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church. He retired from the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center as a van driver. Mr. Parlier was a medic in the U.S. Army. He is preceded in death by three brothers: Edward Parlier, Robert Parlier & Eugene Parlier; and one sister, Yvone LaFleur. VANA McGUIRE TRIVETT Vana McGuire Trivett, age 101, Dark Ridge Road, Elk Park, NC, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, November 9, 2003 at Appalachian Christian Village following a brief illness. A native of Beech Mountain, NC, she was the daughter of the late George W. McGuire, Jr. and Alice Trivett McGuire. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a homemaker. She taught quilting, sewing, macrame and cake decorating classes at Mayland Community College. Mrs. Trivett enjoyed music such as folk ballads and hymns. Some of her recordings are on file at Duke University. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Trivett, two sons, Clarence Trivett, Perry Allen Trivett, a daughter, Wilma T. Walsh, a grandson, Gary Triplett, several brothers and sisters. Survivors include four daughters, Lenos Trivett, Johnson City, TN, Georgia E. Marston, Peoria, IL, Jewel T. Nunley, Elizabethton, TN, Judy T. Margery Grindstaff McPeake, age 92, formerly of 142 Echo Drive, Elizabethton, TN died Sunday, June 1, 2003 in the Hermitage Health Center, Elizabethton, TN following a brief illness. A native of Butler, TN she was the daughter of the late Joseph Millard and Winnie McQueen Grindstaff. She was an active member of Grace Baptist Church and the Ladies Adult I Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of the Watauga Academy and East Tennessee State University. As an employee of the Johnson County School System, she taught first and second grades for 32 years, primarily at Doeville School. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Her special interests were gardening and cooking and legions of relative and friends have enjoyed her yeast rolls and signature dishes throughout the years. Mrs. McPeake was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest T. “Jack” McPeake, a sister, Dorothy G. Livingston, a brother, Coolidge L. Grindstaff and a nephew, Joe Grindstaff. She is survived by one sister, Geneva G. Norris, Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Joy L. Grindstaff, Butler;two step-sons; Terry McPeake and Ronnie McPeake and their families, Augusta, GA and several nieces and nephews,Rick Grindstaff, Butler; Sharon Mooney, Bristol, TN; Lynn Norris, Columbia, SC; Beverly Miller, Atlanta, GA; and Steve Norris, Knoxville, TN.
