MARY ISABELLE GREENE Mary Isabelle Greene, age 79, 115 Headrick Lane, Elizabethton died Friday, October 3, 2003 at Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton. A native of Avery County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Coy C. and Nora Guy Greene. She attended Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church and was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation after 42 years of service. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Owens, and Modest Creasey, and two brothers, William T. Greene and Edgar G. Greene. Survivors include four sisters, Violet Lyons, Elizabethton, Mrs. Raymond (Ella) Whitehead, Elizabethton, Blanche Hill, Hampton, Velma Lee Clemons, Elizabethton, two sisters-in-law, Peggy Greene, Ft. Washington, MD, Ruth Greene, Elizabethton, special friends, Nell Reed, Murfreesboro, TN, Betty Campbell, Scottsboro, AL, special god daughter, Laura Jo Elijah, several cousins all of Vilas, NC, several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2003 at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Jonas Revis and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Robert and Pat Ray and Ben Johnson. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be great nephews, A.J. Clemons, Douglas Creasey, Wayne Clemons, Eric Creasey, Larry Moreland, Nathan Carter, David Stonecipher and Danny Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be Nephews, Mens Class of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church, Administration and Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Joel Elijah, Rev. Jerry Emmert, Gene Douglas, Dr. Robert Grindstaff and Employees and former Employees of Burgie Drug Store. JACKIE H. DUGGER Jackie H. Dugger, age 38, 105 Joe Dugger Lane, Butler died Monday, September 29, 2003 at his residence unexpectedly. A native of Carter County, he is the son of Joseph E. and Wilma Cable Dugger, of the home. He attended Piney Grove Church of Christ. He was an employee of Edmiston Heating and Air Conditioning, Boone, NC. He was a 1983 Hampton High School graduate. Survivors in addition to his parents include a son, Nicholas Chad Dugger, of the home, a daughter, Sidney Lorraine Dugger, Butler, step-daughter, Margie Anton, Butler, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Renee and Kenny Payne, Butler, Lora and Jim Harris, Butler, one brother and sister-in-law, Joey and Amy Dugger, Butler, two nieces, Kelly Dugger, Isabella Harris, both of Butler, two nephews, Daniel Dugger and Morgan Payne, both of Butler, three special uncles, Carl Cable, Opal Cable, both of Butler and Earl Dugger, Johnson City. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2003 at Piney Grove Church of Christ, with Mr. Dean Estep and Mr. Harold Morefield, Ministers officiating. Music will be under the direction of Piney Grove Church of Christ Choir. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Piney Grove Church of Christ Cemetery. DORIS ANDERSON GRINDSTAFF Doris Anderson Grindstaff, age 74, 113 Laura Bowers Road, Elizabethton died Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she is a daughter of Susie Bowers Anderson, Elizabethton and the late Alfred Anderson. She was a homemaker and a member of Blue Springs Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Grindstaff and a daughter, Kathleen Grindstaff. Survivors in addition to her mother include, three sons, Albert Grindstaff, Independence, MO, Larry Grindstaff, Lenoir, NC, Gerald Grindstaff, of the home, two brothers, Dallas Anderson, Carl Anderson, both of Elizabethton, one sister, Mary Alice Anderson, Elizabethton, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive. A native of Carter County, he is the son of Russell Glen Shell, Roan Mountain, and Angela Oaks Shell, Jesup, GA. He was a construction worker for L & S Construction Company. He was of the baptist faith. Survivors in addition to his parents include two brothers, Matthew Glen Shell, Roan Mountain, Jonathan Scott Shell, Jesup, GA, one sister, Jessica Gail Price, Jesup, GA, one step-brother, Micah Westberry, Elizabethton, two step-sisters, Brittaney and Brooke Westberry, both of Elizabethton, step-father, Michael Westberry, Jesup, GA, paternal grandmother, Mae Shell, Roan Mountain, maternal grandmother, Edna Jesse Oaks, Roan Mountain, several aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins also survive. BOBBY DEAN WHITEHEAD Bobby Dean Whitehead, age 67, formerly of 286 Taylor Town Road, Johnson City, died Friday, October 10, 2003 at St. John’s Nursing Home, Gray, following an extended illness.. A native of “Old Butler”, Carter County, he was the son of the late Carson Hamilton and Eliza Ann Robinson Whitehead. He was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church, where he was a choir member and a member of the Will Mosley Sunday School CLass. Mr. Whitehead was a retired truck driver from Paty Company. He was also a member of the Lions Club of Elizabethton. Mr. Whitehead was an avid baseball and basketball player, and also a competitive runner. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Pat) Clark Whitehead, of the home, two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Gary McWherter, Roan Mountain, Robin and Alan Taylor, Johnson City, five brothers, Bill Whitehead, Greeneville, TN, Bud Whitehead, Edward “Poage” Whitehead, J.D. Whitehead, all of Johnson City, Paul Whitehead, Jacksonville, FL, four sisters, Dorothy Campbell, Mohawk, TN, Christine Dye, Greeneville, TN, Sara Sellers, Johnson City, Jean Stewart, Springfield, TN, several nieces and nephews also survive. A native of Chattanooga, TN, he is the son of Roger and Diane Denney Moore, Elizabethton. He was employed by Winn-Dixie, Kingsport as a Manager. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to his parents, his is survived by two sisters, Ginnie Norris, Elizabethton, Kim Wallin, Lafayette, GA, paternal grandparents, Ethel and Lonnie Meeks, Chattanooga, TN, four nephews, Justin Norris, Bradley Norris, both of Elizabethton, Cameron Wallin and Patrick Wallin, both of Lafayette, GA, special friend, Leslie Glover, Elizabethton, two aunts, Janet Arnold, Elizabethton, Judy Meeks, Chattanooga, TN.
