Gary Kyle Collins, age 73, of 114 Abe Lincoln Court, Elizabethton, died Sunday, September 14, 2003 at his residence following a brief illness. He was a native of Carter County and was the son of the late Eston C. and Maxie Carrier Collins. Mr. Collins was retired from the Elizabethton Electric System after 42 years of service, was a lifetime member of the Carter County Rescue Squad, and presently served as the Carter County Coroner. He was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church and a former Deacon and Treasurer. Mr. Collins was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Collins. He is survived by his wife Darlene Stout Collins of the home; a daughter Kay Collins, Johnson City; a son and daughter-in-law Rick and Vicki Collins, Johnson City; one granddaughter Seidena Nidiffer, Johnson City; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Thelma Taylor , Lyndal and Charlie Lowe, and Phyllis Davis all of Elizabethton; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Don and Omega Collins, Mack and June Collins, and Helen Collins also all of Elizabethton; a special uncle, Gray Carrier, Elizabethton, several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Gary Kyle Collins will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Monday, September 15, 2003 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Dr. James Richardson and Dr. Dennis Deese officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev. Stephen Harris and Sue Bowers. The committal and entombment service for Mr. Collins will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Eric Eggers officiating. Active pallbearers will be: Mike Merritt, Darrell Nave, Shawn Horton, Archie Clawson, Bill Lyons, Don Ratcliff, Lowell Garrison, Sam Geiser, and J. D. Phillips. Honorary pallbearers are Lifetime and Active Members of the Carter County Rescue Squad, employees and retirees of the Elizabethton Electric System, employees of the Carter County Sheriff’s Department and the Elizabethton Police Department, and men of Hunter First Baptist Church. Those who plan to attend the committal service are requested to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 A.M. Tuesday. OBITUARY AND FUNERAL: MARTHA L. HARMON Martha L. Harmon, age 75, formerly of Butler, died Saturday, August 9, 2003 at Hermitage Health Center, Elizabethton following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Alvin B. and Polly Dugger. She was a member of Piney Grove Church of Christ. She was a retired employee of Levi Strauss, Mountain City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Renes D. Harmon, April 14, 1999, and two brothers, Freeman and Robert Dugger. FRANK TIFFANY Frank Tiffany, age 66, formerly of 1101 Volunteer Parkway, Bristol, TN, died Friday, October 10, 2003, in Life Care Center of Elizabethton. A native of Chester, PA, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alden D. Tiffany. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Emma Stover Tiffany. Mr. Tiffany was a truck driver for thirty-five years and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include four step-daughters: Lena Booth, Collinsville, VA, Bonnie Martineze and Helen Gaza, both of Jamestown, NY and Irene Stilson, Logan, OH; three step-sons: Larry Woodard and Kirt Woodard, both of Jamestown, NY and Clyde Woodard, Fayetteville, NC; one sister, Jane Ranier, Cherry Hill, NJ; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. CARTER W. STREET Carter W. Street, age 93, 397 Cove Creek Road, Roan Mountain died Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at James H. Quillen Veterans Administration Medical Center, Mountain Home, following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Steven and Emma Freeman Street. He was a member of Cove Creek Presbyterian Church. Mr. Street was a retired employee of Bemberg Corporation. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Mamie Hughes Street, October 27, 1997, three sons, Robert, Ray and Jack Street, three brothers, Floyd, Jim and Warren Street, and one sister Frances Hughes. Survivors include three sons, Paul Street, Drexel, NC, Tommy Street, Conley Street, both of Roan Mountian, two daughters, Mary Harrison, Roan Mountain, Barbara Smith Connelly Springs, NC, one sister, Etta Julian, Norfolk, VA, one brother, Darel Street, Roan Mountain, 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews also survive. A native of Bethany, NC, he had lived in Elizabethton most of his life. He was the son of the late Amos and Melinda Ward. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Mr. Ward was a retired construction worker. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in World War II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie Ann Miller. She is preceded in death by one brother, Jack Campbell. A native of Ward, WV, she was the daughter of the late William Samuel and Hazel K. Cable Withrow. She was a member of Chuch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a retired inspector for Peerless Tube Company. She loved bowling. Survivors include a son, John Withrow of Elizabethton; a sister, N. A native of Sullivan County, Mr. Harding lived most of his life in Carter County. He was the son of the late Witt & Maggie Cole Harding. Mr. Harding was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired concrete finisher and a former employee of North American Rayon Corporation. He was a member of the Watauga Masonic Lodge #622 F & AM. LESTER HONEYCUTT Lester Honeycutt, age 75, 873 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton died Sunday, July 20, 2003 at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Zeb and Hattie Simerly Honeycutt. Mr. Honeycutt was a member of Fork Mountain Free Will Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation after 35 years of service and a retired employee of East Tennessee State University. He was a member of Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 566 F. & A.M. Mr. Honeycutt was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by five sisters, five brothers, and one half sister. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Shirley Bise Honeycutt, of the home, four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and J.L. He was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church and was a retired diesel mechanic, he was also a avid race car enthusiast.
