Dorothy Ina Morgan, age 87, Pine Ridge Care Center, formerly of 149 Brimer Road, Elizabethton, died Saturday, June 14, 2003 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Watauga County, NC, she had lived most of her life in Carter County. Mrs. Morgan was the daughter of the late Miles and Matilda Presley Love. She was of the holiness faith and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard David Morgan, one son, Darrell Wayne Morgan, two brothers, Ed Love, Hoover Ward, three sisters, Rena Morgan, Dollie Lambert, Margie Hicks. Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Marie and Cotton Jackson, Richland, VA, Ruth Davis, South Dakota, Pansy and James Hurley, Forks, Washington, and Margie Morgan, two sons and one daughter-in-law, James (Buster) Morgan and special friend, Evelyn Johnson, Elizabethton, Bobby and Gloria Morgan, Everett, WA, 19 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Dorothy Ina Morgan, age 87, Pine Ridge Care Center, formerly of 149 Brimer Road, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, June 14, 2003, will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 18, in the Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel with Rev. Russell Potter officiating. Music will be under the direction of Ernest “Buck” Hicks. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 9:00 PM, Tuesday, June 17 in Tetrick Funeral Home Fireside Room. TIM RUSSELL TIM RUSSELL, 37, 131 Eldridge Drive, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, following a brief illness. A native of Pahokee, Florida, he was the son of John and Louela Shankle Russell, Elizabethton. Mr. Russell was a student of the Jehovah Witness faith. Survivors in addition to his parents include three brothers and two special sisters-in-law: Michael and Kathy Russell, Jeff Russell, Keith and Andrea Russell, all of Elizabethton. Several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. LORAINE CAMPBELL JONES Loraine Campbell Jones, age 66, 125 Ashlee Road, Johnson City, died Thursday, April 3, 2003 at her residence. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late, Dana “One Boot” and Margaret Brummit Campbell. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church, Johnson City and was a homemaker. She was a member of 1954 class of Happy Valley High School. She was a dispatcher for West Carter County Volunteer Fire Department and a daycare worker at Pinecrest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Peggy Campbell, Dorothy Carden, and 1 brother, Leslie Campbell. Survivors include her husband, Conley Jones, of the home, 2 sons and daughters-in-law, David and Carol Jones, Johnson City, Danny and Kim Jones, Johnson City, 2 granddaughters, which were the Joy of her life, Ashlee Connor Jones, Morgan Shae Jones, several nieces and nephews, 2 very special nieces, Teresa Woodring, Elizabethton, Leslie “Bunny” Street, extended family, David & Ann Howland and Amanda, West Carter County Volunteer Fire Department, special thanks to Johnson City Medical Center Hospice Nurses and Dr. John Green. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Will and Martha DuggerShe was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Lambert and Sylvia Dugger; three brothers: Wheeler Dugger, Alvin Dugger and Earl Dugger. Ms. Baird was a homemaker and a member of Piney Grove Church of Christ, for seventy-one years. A native of Carter County he was the son of the late Aaron Briston and Julie Beck Johnson. He was of the Baptist faith and was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. A native of Yancey County, NC, he was the son of the late Ulyses C. Styles and Betty Mae McCracken Styles Pittman. Mr. Styles was a retired auto mechanic and a truck driver. YVONNE MONTEITH WARREN Yvonne Monteith Warren, age 55, 1354 Dry Creek Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, March 30, 2003 at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC, following an extended illness. She was a native of Clarksville, TN, had lived in Carter County most of her life, and had also lived in Tylertown, Mississippi for twenty years. She was the daughter of the late Harold B. Monteith, Sr. and Jacqueline Farthing Monteith. She was a member of Upper Gap Creek Freewill Baptist Church. She was a 1966 graduate of Elizabethton High School, and attended East Tennessee State University. She was employee of Sprint, Johnson City, and former employee of Stringer Industries, Tylertown, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Fortenberry, grandparents, Jack and Florence Farthing and Robert and Julie Monteith. JAMES L. THOMPSON James L. Thompson, age 79, Butler, TN. Died Sunday, May 25, 2003, at his residence. Mr. Thompson was a native of Red Jacket, West Virginia and a son of the late Jesse and Reta Dugger Thompson. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. navy, having served in WWII., and a retired operator at Nuclear Fuel Services. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by a brother, J.D. Thompson. FRANCES JANE SMITH TETRICK Frances Jane Smith Tetrick, age 88, of 224 West F. Street, Elizabethton, died Monday, May 26, 2003 in the Hillview Health Center following a lengthy illness. She was a native of Joplin, Missouri and was the daughter of the late Charles and Ollie Rafferty Smith. She was graduated from Joplin High School in 1933 and Joplin Business College in 1935. During her youth she enjoyed swimming, diving, tennis, and fencing. Mrs. Tetrick moved to Elizabethton in 1943 when she and her husband started the Tetrick Funeral Home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton, a member of the United Methodist Women and Circle Six. Mrs. Tetrick was a member of the Franklin Flower Club and a former member of the Elizabethton Book Club. She was an avid golfer for many years and was instrumental in the forming of the Elizabethton Women’s Golf Association of which she had served as president. She had been the Women’s Club Champion three times. She was preceded in death by three sisters; Dorothy Smith, Eugenia Bodner, and Naydene Reynolds. She is survived by her husband, Don Tetrick of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Julie Tetrick and Richard and Norma Tetrick of Elizabethton,, four grandchildren, Tyler Tetrick, Ashley Tetrick, and Jared Tetrick all of Elizabethton, and Ronda Greaves of Denville, New Jersey; two brothers, Kenneth Smith of Roswell, New Mexico and Whitney Smith of Odessa, Texas. Street, Elizabethton, who died Monday, May 26, 2003 will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 29th in the First United Methodist Church. with Rev. Bill Carter and Rev. Buford Hankins officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Hope at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be under the direction of Brenda Pelham soloist, Becky Hale organist and Sally Harris, pianist. The family will receive friends from 6:30 till 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 28th at Tetrick Funeral Home. Active pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the church at 2:40 PM on Wednesday will be; Drew Bodner, Ken Bodner, Dick Ryan, Roy Huskins, Dr. John Crockett, III, Dr. Doug Cole, Pete Hampton, Greg Bowers, Richard Barker, Joe LaPorte, Sam LaPorte.Honorary pallbearers will be; the men of First United Methodist Church, Julilan Caudill, John Crockett, Jr. Bill Hampton, Mike McKinney, the directors and employees of Security Federal Savings Bank, present and former directors of Citizens Bank, the members of the Elizabethton Kiwanis Club and Elizabethton Rotary Club, the past and present employees and associates of Tetrick Funeral Home and Hathaway Percy Funeral Home, Happy Valley Memorial Park, Heritage Family Funeral Services, Heritage Family Cemeteries, TWT, Ed Alexander, Bill Broome, John L. Bowers, Jr., Ralph Cole, Lewis Merryman, Dr. Harold Lane, John L. Bowers, III, Johnny Geagley, Jimmy Jones, Jennings Wagner, Bob McCullough, Frank Harrill, Sam Barker, Don Cooper, Ken Howerton, Harold Lingerfelt, and George Simmons.
